Jethro woke up and, with a small smile on his face, realized that he and Shannon were both still sprawled out on the couch in the same position that they had fallen asleep in the night prior while they were chatting, totally wrapped up in each other.

He just laid there for a long moment, watching his gorgeous wife sleep peacefully with her head laid against his chest. It had taken some time, but the feeling that this was all a dream he was going to wake up from was started to fade. He didn't constantly feel like he was waiting for the rug to be pulled up from under him now.

Jethro still had his moments, as did both Shannon and Kelly, and he knew full well that the protective streak he had wasn't ever really going to go away, but the ground felt a lot more settled now. Not so crumbled.

He and Shannon had also started to discuss the possibility of renewing their marriage vows at some point in the near-ish future, for a myriad of reasons. Jethro, who wasn't one for weddings after so many failed marriages, was all for it if Shannon wanted to do it.

It was Shannon. He would do it a million times over without hesitation if it made her happy. More than that, a part of Jethro wanted to do it too as the both of them had been in other relationships over years.

"Good morning," his wife said. Having just woken up, Shannon immediately started to snuggle up even closer to him.

They both laid there for a minute before finally sitting up on the couch.

"You should make us some bacon and eggs," Shannon said, snuggling up close to him once more as they sat there just enjoying each other's company.

Jethro gave a happy little hum in response before leaning down slightly to give his wife a quick kiss. "I can do that. Toast too?"

"Sounds good to me," Shannon said with a smile.

He didn't get up immediately, wanting to prolong the moment, but before long Jethro was in the kitchen cooking his family breakfast.

He was almost done when Kelly came downstairs, popping her head into the kitchen to see exactly what he was making.

Jethro glanced back between both of his girls with a smile. Shannon was seated at the kitchen table having a cup of coffee and Kelly's head was in the fridge.

His daughter raised an eyebrow in question. "Do we still have orange juice?"

"Should be some left," he replied, keeping most of his attention and focus on the eggs he was making as he didn't want to burn them. "Probably pushed to the back."

"Perfect," Kelly said happily as the young redhead pulled the juice carton out of the fridge and started to pour herself a glass of it.

Grabbing the pancake flipper, Jethro finally took the scrambled eggs out of the frying pan and ran the three plates of food over to the kitchen table.

Kelly grinned. "Extra bacon!"

He raised an eyebrow with a smile. "Maybe you won't steal mine then."

His daughter eyed him, smirking. "Yeah, you keep telling yourself that, Dad."

He rolled his eyes at her. "Cheeky brat."

Shannon glanced between the two of them with a look somewhere between amused and exasperated. "Are you still wanting to go shopping today, Jethro?"

"Yeah," he said in between a mouthful of eggs. "We both need to grab a few things, so we probably should get that done at some point this weekend."

Kelly swallowed the food in her mouth. "I'm still in."

They all finished breakfast and then Kelly went upstairs to get dressed while his wife threw some laundry on and he quickly washed the dishes from breakfast.

Once Kelly joined them downstairs again, they all threw on their shoes and relaxed in the backyard for a bit before the three of them finally hopped into Shannon's car and made their way to CityCenterDC.

They walked around for a few minutes, trying to figure out where they were going first before his wife dragged him into one of the Men's clothing stores so that he could grab some new clothes for work.

He was a creature of habit and more or less knew what he was getting, so they did not end up spending too much time on him before they moved on to the next store.

Jethro was just finishing up a quick call from Tobias right outside of Kate Spade, where both his girls were still busy roaming around and looking for a few more things, when his first ex-wife, Diane, of all people walked by.

Diane had been sharp-tongued and manipulative for as long as Jethro had known her. The woman's general temperament matched her red hair, and, by the look currently on her face, he suspected that hadn't changed much.

"Leroy," his ex-wife said as she came to a stop in front of him.

He dipped his head slightly. "Diane."

Diane briefly glanced up at the store name and then back at him curiously. "This is not exactly the kind of place I'd expect to find you."

Jethro couldn't argue with that. "Yeah, I'm actually waiting for someone." He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Well, someones."

"Ah," she deadpanned. "What number is this one?"

He eyed the woman. "What do you want, Diane?"

Diane rolled her eyes but didn't comment.

Jethro was wracking his brain for a way to get out of the conversation with Diane when Shannon finally walked out. He didn't know if he whether to feel relieved or even more uncomfortable with the situation.

"That girl might be a while," Shannon quipped with a chuckle as she made her way over to where he was standing. "She's still trying on a couple of shirts."

Diane's eyes immediately went wide with surprise and no small amount of confusion and disbelief. He had little doubt she recognized Shannon at least somewhat from the photo that he'd always carried in his wallet.

He looked at Shannon in amusement. "Well, considering who her mother is..."

Shannon rolled her eyes at him, a cheeky smile playing on her lips. "Hey, don't blame me for that, Mister."

He smirked at her. "Well, she got it from somewhere and it wasn't me."

His wife shook her head at him in fond exasperation before her gaze finally flickered to the other redhead. "And who is this, Jethro?"

Jethro gave Shannon a warm smile as he pulled her in close to his side and into a one-armed hug, kissing his wife softly on the temple. "This is Diane. I had just gotten off of the phone when she walked by." He then shot his ex-wife a pointed look. "I was asking her what she wanted when you came out of the store."

Diane bristled slightly at his tone at the end there which suited him just fine if he was being honest. The woman liked to twist the knife in and would do it every chance she got. He was also still quite irritated that she'd taken his grandfather's watch during the divorce; it was one of the few things that he'd had of the man's.

Shannon gave him a look that told him that she had figured out exactly just who Diane was to him. Of course, she'd met Tobias and Emily so it wasn't exactly a huge leap to figure out Diane was that Diane. Shannon then gave Diane a small smile, holding out her hand to her, the glint in his wife's eyes letting him know she was up to something.

Jethro was admittedly feeling a bit apprehensive about how exactly this was all going to go. "It's nice to meet you, Diane. I'm Shannon Gibbs."

"Uh," Diane said, tentatively extending her own hand, "likewise. I thought... You're supposed to be... How?"

"A paperwork mix-up," he offered by way of explanation. "The girls were in Witness Protection, and well..." He shrugged his shoulder slightly.

"An FBI agent found us accidentally while they were working on another op," Shannon added. "We were told he'd died in Desert Storm and vice versa.

"Uh... wow!" Diane said. "That's quite the story."

"It's certainly been interesting," Shannon said, "but at least we've all found each other again. We're a family and that's the main thing."

"Amen to that," he said earnestly.

"So," Shannon said kindly, snuggling in close to him once more to prove whatever her point was, "are you waiting for someone?"

"No," Diane said, something notably changing in her expression as she watched what his wife was doing. "I'm just trying to get a few things done while my daughter's with her father for the weekend."

"Ah," Shannon replied, "fair enough."

Just then Kelly walked out of the store, contentedly make her way over to them with several bags in her hands.

Jethro was definitely a bit curious to see his daughter's response.

"Hi," Kelly said politely.

"Hello," Diane replied with a forced smile, feeling even more stunned by the minute if the look on her face was anything to go by.

"Got everything you need from here, Kellz?" he asked, pulling the young woman in with his other arm for a one-armed hug.

His daughter looked up at him with a smile and gently shook the bags in her hand for good measure. "Yeah, Dad. I think I'm pretty well set."

"Perfect," he said with a small smile of his own. He turned to his ex-wife. "If you don't need anything, Diane, we have a few more errands we have to run."

"No, no," Diane told him, "it's fine."

He dipped his head slightly. "Alright."

Shannon glanced between Kelly and Jethro. "How do you two feel about lunch before we continue running around?"

"Hell yeah," Kelly said with a grin.

He made a vague gesture with his hand. "Lead the way."

The family of three was walking away when he heard Diane calling after him, clearly wanting attention. "Leroy." Immediately stopping in his tracks, Jethro turned around to face his ex-wife. "You seem happy."

Jethro gave a little nod, a warm smile on his face as his gaze flickered back to both his girls before settling on Diane again. "I am."

His ex-wife nodded, something that he couldn't quite read in her expression before she turned around and continued on with her own shopping.

"She an ex of yours?" Kelly asked once they were out of earshot.

"Obviously," Shannon drawled.

"She is," he confirmed. "I realize -"

"Don't apologize for that," Shannon said. "You tried to move on with your life because you thought I was dead. We both did, Jethro. And she's an ex for a reason." She then gave him a cheeky look. "Besides, she got my point loud and clear without me having to say a damn thing."

"And what point is that?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

His wife smirked. "That you're mine."

He shook his head and chuckled softly. "Sometimes, Shan, I look at you and wonder how the hell I got so lucky." God, I love you, you crazy woman.

His wife squeezed his hand. "I love you too, Darling."

"Get a room you two," their daughter said with a laugh, eyes betraying the fact she wasn't in the least bit irritated, merely teasing them.

He immediately smirked. "Never, Kellz." He pulled Shannon in for a kiss, both of them prolonging it in part to mess with their daughter.

"And, Dad," Kelly quipped, shaking her head, "that was scary kissing."

Jethro smirked at the little inside joke, Shannon just shaking her head at their antics. "Could've covered up, Princess. Don't blame us." Jethro then glanced between his wife and his daughter. "So, what d'ya want for lunch?"

"Hmmm," his wife said, "how about Italian? Kelly?"

"That works for me," Kelly quickly agreed.

He gave a curt little nod, more than happy with that suggestion. "Italian it is then."
