GirlFish: Looks like Aizen might be playing with fire here... Yeah, he really is.

Since a spider like hollow came on the scene, I think I know what he did...as long as Aizen sees fit, Danny will probably feel either Dani or Dan's pain if some gets inflicted. You're right on that one...sort of.

(Also, if that spider somehow becomes an Arrancar or Vizared, things are going to get ugly-and fast.) True she'd cause a lot of problems for the Shinigami and Danny.

(*If you want my opinion, Danny might be able to be paired with a Failure of sort of Aizen's. Or a girl from the human world... like either Orihime or someone else.*) I'll think about it.

r: YES! It happened! Though i thought it was going to be a separate story, but this is awesome! I hope you continue to like it.

Chapter 3: Explanations

"You guys need to answer my questions first since you both are so blatantly wasting my time right now," Danny spat with annoyance.

"Sure, what do you want to know?" asked the girl, ignoring the jab.

"I want to know what the heck a Quincy is?!" Danny yelled, throwing his hands up. "Everyone's been calling me one and no one's bothering to explain it! It's starting to get annoying!"

"Oh, that's easy. A Quincy is a human with the ability to manipulate Reishi for killing hollows," the girl said simply. "I hope Mayuri doesn't catch you. He'd have a field day experimenting on you."

To say that he was disappointed would be an understatement, he felt so underwhelmed that he didn't even care about the whole "scientist wanting to cut me open" thing. Not that it wasn't anything new anyways. "It's that simple? From the way everyone talked about it, I thought it'd be more awesome than that."

"Now, it's time for you to answer to us," said Ichigo. "What exactly are you?"

"Well, I'm a ghost."

Danny wasn't going to bother telling them about the whole human half, though. It wasn't worth the trouble, plus he didn't exactly know these guys yet. He'd learned more than he needed to about stranger danger.

"So, you're like a spirit?" asked Ichigo. After Ichigo said this, the girl got a very large tick mark and smacked Ichigo upside the head. Ichigo collapsed face first onto the ground, sporting a fairly large bump.

Danny just winced.

"NO YOU BAKA!" shouted the girl. "A ghost is a newly dead spirit who is implanted with a piece of Pariah's soul. It's theorized that it's put into them by Pariah Dark himself!"

'Wait. Wait. Wait. What?!'

"So, it's still a spirit then!" grumbled Ichigo, rubbing his injured head.

"But Pariah is out cold in a sarcophagus," Danny interrupted before Ichigo and the girl could get into a shouting match. "I should know since I was the one who put back there."

The girl's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. "You really did defeat Pariah Dark?! I thought it was all a tall tale. No wonder you're under the Soul Society's radar."

"Well, it's good to know there are more people after me now," Danny drawled, sarcastically. "Now as fun as it was to talk to you guys, I've seriously got to go have a word with some people. So, see you later girl from school and Strawberry!"

Without a wasted breath, Dani and Danny turned invisible and flew away.

"Dammit, my name does not mean strawberry!"

"So, what have you been up to all these years?" Danny asked.

"Oh, nothing really significant besides seeing the world," Dani waved her hand as if that going on global joyride was a common occurrence, "but there was this one time that a ghost portal opened up in front of me while I was flying. I ended up on a rotten world with these weird giant guys with wings and all of them were really grotesque-looking. They had this book that could kill people or something like that. It was weird."

"I wouldn't want to run into them then," Danny laughed, "but hey we're here." They landed in the alleyway next to his apartment and changed back into their human forms. They walked into the house, and he called for his parents. Before long, they all met up in the fairly crowded living room.

"Danny, what did you want to ask us?" his father asked.

"Okay, Mom and Dad," Danny started, watching each of them sternly. They seemed remarkably confused which was very pleasant to see. "I need one of you guys to fess up. Which one of you is a Quincy?!"

There was a beat of silence.

"What are you talking about son?" asked his mother. He had to give her credit. Her puzzled expression almost had him convinced that she was clueless.

He repeated the question again, but this time Dad answered and also denied the accusation.

Danny's eyes narrowed. "So that's how it is? Sorry Mom and Dad. I didn't want it to come to this, but if you won't me, I'll have to bring out the big guns! Dani bring out the stuff!"

Dani nodded and left and then reappeared with a bag of chocolates, a bottle of Kerosene, and a lighter. "Now Dad," Danny started, relishing the sweat forming on his brow, "do you still wanted to keep quiet, or will you tell me who's the Quincy?"

His question was met with silence.

"Okay then maybe this will jog your memory!" Danny opened the Kerosene bottle and tilted it towards the bag of chocolates as he made to start the lighter.

"ALRIGHT I'LL TELL YOU! I'M A SHINIGAMI AND YOUR MOM IS A QUINCY JUST PLEASE DON'T HARM MY CHOCOLATE!"

His mother stared at his father, unimpressed.

Danny only jumped slightly at the volume. He was expecting some kind of an outburst anyway. Thankfully, the lighter wasn't lit yet. "Why didn't you guys tell me?! And you're a shinigami?"

His mother sighed, before making space on the couch, patting next to her. Danny obliged and sat down next to her. "Well Danny... we just didn't want to get you involved in our mess."

"If you didn't want us to get involved, then why did you guys try to educate me about ghosts every time you guys got the chance?" Danny asked.

His mother sighed. "We were hoping our over enthusiasm would discourage you guys from becoming ghost hunter and judging by Jazz's and your reactions it almost worked. . .if it wasn't for our Fenton Ghost Portal."

Danny felt his heart drop into his gut. "What?! You knew about the accident!" yelled Danny.

If his parents looked uncomfortable before, they were miles beyond that now. "We should start from the beginning," his mother started. "It all started in college, when I first met your father. Soon after that your uncle Vlad came along. We were a tight bunch, almost inseparable. Although all of us were close, your father and I were the closest. We'd confide in one another things that we couldn't tell anyone else."

When his mother stopped, his father took it as his cue to start. "I ended up telling her about my good friend and I's suspicions about what was happening in the Soul Society, and then Maddie and I decided if our suspicions were correct, we would need extra back up. That was when we started to pick up on our friend Vlad's interest in the paranormal, we began to study. . .ghosts."

"No dear," his mother interrupted, "we were looking into ghosts before we met Vlad."

"Oh yeah."

"We ended up trying to make various theories and ways we could talk to the ghosts, so we decided to make a ghost Portal," his mother explained.

"Wait a second!" Danny blurted. "You guys KNEW how stubborn ghosts were and wanted to open a portal to talk to them?!"

Surprisingly, his dad decided to pick up the slack on that one. "Ah, well, Danny, I think we should fill you in on Quincy history. Almost 1,000 years ago, there was a battle between the Quincy and Shinigami with the ghosts being on the side of the Quincy, and with that in mind, we thought we could get 'em to help us out. Anyways, we finally made a ghost portal, but due to. . .err. . . a miscalculation on my part, it ended up hitting Vladdy straight in the face."

Danny dragged a hand down his face as he just sat down on the floor, not even bothering to pull out a chair. He was dimly aware of Dani's hand on his shoulder, but he didn't have the energy to acknowledge it. He couldn't fight the nagging idea that his clueless parents might have known about him all along. That they'd known about everything. That they'd known everything and more.

"That's when we decided we wouldn't involve anyone else in our plans," his mom continued. "So, from then on, we secluded ourselves to the basement, making various ghost weapons just in case the ghosts were rogue. We knew we were on the verge of something. . . revolutionary! We had to follow it, relentlessly." Her tone had become almost pleading. He wasn't able to muster the power to even look up at her. "It may have taken thirteen years, but we finally created a Ghost portal. . . again!"

"So, when we made another one, I got so excited I just had to show you and your friends," his dad said, bashfully. "I knew I shouldn't have included you and your friends into this life, but it was just so exciting, Danny-boy! It was a door to a whole new world!"

"Jack. . ." his mother chided.

"Right, right," his dad laughed, nervously. "Your mother and I were crushed though when the portal didn't work. However, the next morning, we went down to the basement to find a working Ghost Portal. That's also when we felt the irregularity in your Reiatsu. It was ghostly."

Before Danny could be further shocked about his worst fears being realized, his mom continued the explanations. "So that's when we changed our plans. We thought with you now being ghostly, you could help us convince the other ghosts to help us, but then ghosts started coming out causing mayhem and you started catching them like, uh, that Pokémon game you loved so much. That's when we knew we had to change our plan again. We decided to pretend to want to hunt you down as well as the other ghosts so they wouldn't think it odd that we left you alone."

Danny felt like he'd been hit by a ton of bricks as he sat there on the floor. There was nothing but an uncomfortable science. He couldn't believe it; He'd thought his parents were always the clueless ones when he was the one in the dark the entire time. They'd known who he was every time that they'd hunted him.

'I can't believe they played with Danny's emotions like that! It's sickening!'

'Hmm, interesting...'

'What the heck was that?!' Danny thought in alarm. 'Was that. . Calm down Danny, it was probably nothing. You're not going crazy. You are not going crazy. . .'

His father's voice soon brought him back to reality. "Danny, I know this is a lot to take in, but we were hoping you could come with us tomorrow and talk with my good friend."

"...Yeah...sure?" Danny said, absentmindedly. "A random death god friend of yours that I've never met before, cool."

"Great! I knew we could count on you Danny-Boy!"

He heard the footsteps of his parents grow softer as they headed towards the basement, leaving him to think about his life.

After ranting to Danny about how untrustworthy and unfair his parents were being to him, Dani finally fell asleep. Her ranting actually made some sense to him. 'I mean they did just try to use me as part of their little game without telling me. Plus, this is all just about some suspicions they have, and because of their assumptions, Vlad became bitter with ghost powers, ghosts were unleashed onto Amity Park, and I have the burden of juggling ghost powers and school and the fate of the town, every other week. . .'

'I can't believe. . .they hid something like this from me! I can't believe they didn't trust me enough!' He thought, furiously.

"Don't act so self-righteous, you would've done the same thing if it was Jazz. In fact, you did do the same thing."

'SHUT UP BRAIN! DON'T TURN THIS BACK ON ME! . .Wow, I'm arguing with myself. . .I really think I might be going insane. Definitely not gonna tell Sam and Tucker about it considering what happened a while ago. . .anyways I just need some sleep. Yeah. . .some sleep and I'll be good for the morning. . .'

Just when Danny was sure that he was about to fall into the sweet, sweet arms of Morpheus, he heard a knock at his window. Being a teen who cared deeply about his sleep, he just ignored it. However, the knocking just got louder and more forceful to the point of being annoying, so he got up and threw open the window.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" Danny screamed in the face of the knocker.

The poor heathen almost fell over. If Danny wasn't so eager for sleep, he might have felt sorry for him. Instead, he waited for the bespectacled teen to collect himself. "Sorry to disturb you, but Rukia has been taken!"

Danny's heart stopped. "Oh no! Rukia has been taken!" Slowly but surely, his brain caught up with his mouth. "Wait a second. . . WHO THE HELL IS RUKIA?!"
