Disclaimer: I think it goes without saying, but I don't own Danny Phantom or Bleach.

A/N: Hey guys, I'm back (after yet another hiatus). However, school is done and summer is here! Unless there's an unforseen circumstance (hope I didn't jinx it it) or my One Piece watching gets in the way (highly likely) updates should come a lot faster.

Chapter 10: Odd Future Part 1

Danny and Karitoriki stood over a deep hole, criss-crossed with cobwebs. The pit appeared to have no end, and it was disorienting to look at for long. It was almost unexplainable, but it felt like the hole was jeering at him.

"What are we supposed to do about this?"

The zanpakuto gazed down at the crevice with his somber, eyeless sockets.

"I do not know. I have never seen anything like this before."

Danny tried to ignore the churning feeling in his stomach at Karitoriki's answer. The halfa chose to instead look down the hollow hole.

Which unfortunately didn't help either.

"There has to some clue as to what we can do. Maybe we see if there's a bottom. We could throw a stone or something."

A sudden screech echoed out of the hole as Danny jerked away. "What the hell was that?!"

The skeletal man stood unmoving. "It is possible that the hollow requires a stronghold to do what she is doing to you. It could be some kind of parasitic hollow."

"Did the hollow make this hole?"

The zapakuto spirit smirked. "No, this hole has been in your inner world for some time. This hollow has merely inhabitated it."

Danny glared back down at the hole as he took everything in. "So, if I go down there and break this thing, everything'll go back to normal?"

Karitoriki glanced at Danny, his eyeless gaze boring into his soul.

"Don't. Do not go into that hole."

Danny looked back, incredulously. "I've purified hollows before. What's different about this?"

Karitoriki continued his hard stare. "I sense an oddity in its power. If you attack this hollow, there is no telling what could happen."

Danny peered down at the hole for a bit before he stood.

"If I've learned anything from my werid parents, it's that no one ever learned anything by standing around and doing nothing."

Danny held out his hand in front of him as Karitoriki's eyes widened. "Hado 31: Shakkaho!"

Then the world turned white.

"Danny, get up."

Danny blinked and squinted at the sudden daylight. He took a while to find his bearings, when he finally recognized Uryu.

"What's wrong?"

Danny was slightly off-guard at Uryu's stern glare.

"Why did you stop me? It was a matter between the Quincy."

Danny pushed himself up so that he was standing in front of the archer with a cheeky grin. He dimly noted he was still a bit shorter than the bespectacled Quincy.

"Last time I checked, I am a Quincy, Uryu."

Uryu scowled. "Half. And you didn't have your grandfather taken by a madman. You have no clue what he meant to me."

Danny stared at Uryu with a calm soft gaze.

"He probably meant the world to you, dude. And that's why I knew you would take no result that wasn't the death of that fruitloop. Even at the cost of your powers."

Danny began to see the Quincy calming a bit; however, there were clearly some simmerings here and there under his cold exterior.

"I wasn't just gonna stand by and watch you throw away all of your Quincy power like that."

Uryu stared at Danny for a while. "I'm fighting him again, and I will kill him. No matter the cost."

All of a sudden, there was an ear-splitting cry of pure anguish.

"You murderer!"

Momo leveled her sword at Gin who still smiled mischeiviously.

"How can you still smile after what you've done?! Why did you kill him?!"

The silver haired Captain only smiled. Momo screamed and thrust her zanpakuto in blind fury.

Momo opened her eyes to see her sword blocked by another.

"Izuru, why are you defending that monster?!"

Izuru calmly but firmly stared her down. "Calm down, Momo. We don't know the whole story. You can't attack a Captain or fellow soldier without orders."

Momo glared at Izuru with hot tears streaking down her face. "Get out of my way!"

Momo raised her blade with every intention of cutting down Izuru only for a hand to catch her sword.

"Wha. . ."

Toshiro delivered a quick chop to the neck of Momo and caught her as she fell limp.

Toshiro stared down at her limp form, a million thoughts cluttering his mind before he set her down, gently.

Toshiro glanced over at two nearby Shinigami. "You two, take both of them to a holding cell."

Toshiro dimly noted that Gin had managed to escape in the chaos. 'Momo was probably too distraught to even notice his retreat.'

Toshiro clenched his fist. "I will bring you to justice Gin. For Aizen and for Mo-"

'The Central 46.'

Toshiro blinked and looked around. "Did you two say anything?"

The shinigami shook their heads as it came again. 'Go to the Central 46, Hitsugaya. Get your answers there'

Toshiro shook his head. He must've been working too hard doing his and Rangiku's jobs.

Danny and Uryu had fallen into a silence while Danny had sent off a clone to go find some food.

"So, what now?" asked Uryu.

"We try to diffuse all of this. Just going there and taking Rukia won't be enough. The Soul Society is just gonna send more and more of their soldiers."

Uryu pushed his glasses up. "So, what if diplomacy isn't an option for these guys?"

Danny sighed as he easily saw that Uryu was not exactly on board with making peace with the Soul Society.

"Then we fight them."

Uryu quirked a brow. "So, we just fight horde after horde of Shinigami if this works out?"

Danny shook his head with a scowl. "If we fight them, we're gonna make a statement. We're gonna hit them so hard that they won't think of fighting back."

"So, who's talking to the Head Captain?"

"Me."

Uryu's brows furrowed. "You can't go alone. It would be potential suicide. You're a ghost in anti-ghost territory."

Danny rolled his eyes with a grin. "Thanks for spelling it out for me. I'll be fine. After all, I have some experience with anti-ghost territory."

Danny closed his eyes as his body began to glow. From that glow, another Danny was formed.

"You go talk to the Old Man. Uryu and I are gonna go talk to whoever is taking care of Dani."

Uryu looked incredulous. "You know where Dani is?"

Danny glanced back at Uryu as the clone took off. "Yep, now let's go. We've gotta get as much allies as we can as quickly as we can."

"So that's the big guy."

Danny hovered, invisibly over the Head Captain.

His sheer power was almost suffocating to the clone, which terrified him. He wasn't even able to sense Reiatsu.

"C'mon man," said Danny, clenching and unclenching his fist. "You've fought Pariah Dark before; you can handle this guy. You don't even have to fight him."

Before he could lose his nerve, he cried out, "Hey!"

Yamamoto looked up as Danny dropped out of invisibility and floated down to the ground. "Danny Phantom."

Danny didn't know it was even possible to have your own name spoken like a threat.

"You dare wear our sacred uniform?" Danny blinked down and looked down at his clothes as if he'd only just realized he was wearing the standard Shinigami shihakusho.

"From whom did you receive your power, heathen."

Danny bristled at the insult, but did his best to ignore it. "I got this power myself. It came from me."

Yamamoto raised a long brow. "How is that possible?"

Danny caught himself. Couldn't just bust out the fact that he was the son of Jack Fenton, an exiled Shinigami. "I'm an experiment of Kisuke Urahara."

Yamamoto scowled. "I knew we should have killed that monster while we had the chance."

Danny almost wanted to snort. Mayuri, apparently, didn't qualify as enough of a monster.

"Actually, he created me by accident."

Yamamoto's eyes narrowed. "I thought you said you were experimented upon."

Danny nodded. "I was. It's just the experiments created a new me. I'm no longer the old Shinigami I was when I was kicked out."

"So, you have returned for vengeance?"

"No, I came back to ask you to let Rukia Kuchiki go."

Danny took a step closer to the Captain. "She hasn't done anything wrong. She saved two lives that day she gave the Substitute Shinigami his powers."

Yamamoto glared at Danny. "You dare attempt to return and lecture me about our customs."

Danny narrowed his eyes. "I didn't lect-"

"Regardless," spoke the aged Captain, "I will not release Rukia Kuchiki. She will face her punishment."

Danny scowled. "Look. Rukia did nothing wrong. Just let her go and you don't have to waste your time. It's a win-win situation."

Yamamoto raised a hand towards Danny. Suddenly, black holes started opening around Danny. Until, one last black hole opened in his chest.

Danny would've jerked in shock had he not been immobilized. The halfa looked up at the Captain Commander with angry flaring green eyes. "Big mistake."

And with that, the clone faded away in a burst of green fire.

Yamamoto's eyes widened in shock. 'Those flames!'

"He didn't listen. We're gonna have to fight. Are you in?"

The Captain in his floral kimono chewed on some straw. "The old man is really stubborn like that. He doesn't like to be questioned; he wants it done his way."

Danny stared at the Captain. "You mean he wants this execution to happen?!"

Shunsui shrugged. "I don't think he wants that to happen. It's just a part of the rules, y'know. And he's a stickler for them."

Danny scowled. "That doesn't mean he should just listen to the rules if they're stupid. He's the Captain Commander, he can change them."

"You must have forgotten all about the Seireitei in the time you were gone, Danny. Yamamoto can't just do whatever he wants; we have rules here."

Danny scowled. "We need to change the rules, then. Let's go to the rule makers."

Shunsui raised a brow. "You can't do that. They won't be swayed once they've made a decision."

The ghost child plopped down in chair, resignedly. "Then we have to attack."

Uryu nodded "Correct."

"Today."

Uryu and Shunsui's eyes widened. "What?!"

"If we attack now, we might surprise them and get Rukia. If we attack during the execution tommorow, there's about 12 Captains we have to fight."

"We don't have enough people to fight if this happens to go wrong. We'll be unprepared in enemy territory."

"So we wait until the last minute, then?" Danny shot back.

"It doesn't have to be the last minute, we just need more people. And then, a plan."

Danny sighed. "Well, I'm gonna send a clone to find Orihime."

Uryu nodded. "Good idea. I'll head back to our hideout with Dani once she wakes up."

Shunsui nodded. "I'll convince Ukitake although I'd bet he'd fight alongside us even without my asking."

Danny tensed as another clone was formed and it flew off to find Orihime.

Danny soared over the buildings of Soul Society. It had already began to reach the evening and there was still no sign of Orihime. There was still one place the spirit hadn't checked. Squad 11 barracks.

As much as he didn't want to chance an encounter with the bloodthirsty Captain, it appeared he had no choice.

The ghost flew intangibly and invisibly through the walls of the barracks, scouring the halls.

He finally found her in a large room that seemed to be a type of lounge room.

There were squad 11 members all around Rukia and that tiny lieutenant Danny had seen earlier. However, he only just barely noticed the man he'd least wanted to meet.

Kenpachi Zaraki was sitting calmly on a bigger chair that was clearly reserved for him. He was sitting right next to Orihime.

Danny absently noted, with no small amount of relief, his arm had returned. 'Orihime must have healed him.'

The clone, inwardly debated his next move. The more he thought about it, however, the more he knew he had no choice. There was no time to waste.

'I'm sorry, Orihime.'

Danny flew straight into the orange haired girl. Orihime's eyes glowed a vibrant green for an instant before he spoke.

"I need to use the restroom."

Yachiru smiled. "OK Orihime-chan, go ahead."

"Thank you, Yachiru-chan," said Danny, bowing. With that, she strolled out the door.

After checking no one was out there, Danny flew out of Orihime's body.

Orihime blinked, rapidly. "Wha. . ?"

"Hey Orihime, I had to overshadow you to get away from Kenpachi."

"I knew it was you."

Danny spun around with wide eyes. "How did-"

"I saw the green flash."

Danny groaned. "Dang it."

Orihime looked at Danny with confusion. "Why did you want to see me, Danny-kun."

Kenpachi turned to leave, but Danny stopped him. "I think I may need you as well for this."

Kenpachi turned back to Danny but said nothing. Danny inwardly thanked Clockwork for his newfound luck.

"I want you to help us rescue Rukia."

Kenpachi snorted at the halfa. "Should've known."

Danny glanced up at him. "So, you won't do it?"

"Nope, I'll do it. This ain't right what they're about to do."

Danny raised a brow. "There's no catch?"

Kenpachi glared. "You think I'm gonna ask you to fight me? Heck no! Once this is all done, we're going to fight."

His statement was filled with such finality, Danny almost believed it was going to happen. Until, he realized he had a choice in the matter.

Danny shook his head. "No, no, no. We're not fighting. At all. Ever again."

Kenpachi gave a predatory grin. "Sure, kid."

Danny tried to block out the image of his own body in a bloody pulp. "Anyway, Orihime, I need you to come with me to our meet up base. We're gonna need to get the whole group together before Rukia's execution."

Orihime nodded as Danny smiled. Everything seemed to be working fairly correctly, and they had Kenpachi on their side. That's always a plus.

"Now, we just need to get more Captains on our side."

"I can help with making the process a little faster."

Orihime smiled. "Any help would be greatly appreciated, Kenpachi-kun."

Kenpachi sighed at the use of the honorific, but didn't bother to say anything about it. "Sui-Feng won't join you with Yoruichi on your side, Gin's a weird one, but he probably wouldn't join ya, Aizen is dead-"

"Wait a minute, when did Aizen die?!" asked Danny.

"This morning," said Kenpachi, shaking his head, "killed with his own blade."

Danny couldn't help the slightest twinge in his heart. He knew there was a possibility that people were going to die during the mission, but didn't want to believe that someone actually died. The only time anybody had ever died on his watch was with Dan.

Chills ran down his spine as he could almost swear he heard the maniac's cackling.

The halfa came back to reality as he was nudged by Orihime. Kenpachi was staring, annoyedly at Danny. "Ya done?"

Danny nodded. "Sorry, yeah. Keep going."

"Sajin Komamura won't help and neither will Squad 9 Captain, Kaname Tosen. Those two are some of the most annoying self-righteous jackasses I know. Tosen, especially."

"Squad 10 Captain Toshiro might help you, but I'm not sure on that guy."

Kenpachi chuckled with dark mirth. "Mayuri definitely ain't gonna help you after what you did to 'im."

Danny scowled. "No need to talk about the last one. Shunsui said Ukitake would help."

"That'll help you a lot."

Danny grinned at the behemoth. "Yep. Thanks for the help Kenpachi."

Kenpachi grinned back. "Don't mention it."

Toshiro gawked at the remains of the Central 46.

He didn't know what he was expecting to find when he listened to his inner musings, but dead councilmen were not anything close to what he expected.

Toshiro made his way through the dead, careful to miss the blood and dead limbs around him. "Did Gin do this?!"

"You finally listened; I was starting to get bored here."

Toshiro turned to find a being he could only, simply, describe as a demon.

The shadowy figure had glowing red eyes with a flowing white cape. His white fangs glinted in the night, his flaming white hair flickered, and his jarring emblem shone bright on his chest.

A D with a P inside.

Toshiro stared in shock at the ghost. "Danny Phantom?"

A/N: Oof. This took a while to get here, but thank God for summer vacation. Have a good day and please review.
