Disclaimer: I don't own these franchises. I do own Karitoriki though. I think.

A/N: Uh, sorry about the long time it took to update. It took a bit longer than I expected to come up with Danny's bankai.

Also, I've changed my mind on the pairing. Sort of. I'm just gonna see where the story goes and make the pairing decision that way. Or heck, there may not be a pairing at all. So, yeah, long story short, anything is on the table.

And sorry about the short chapter length (again. . .), but the next one should be longer. Plus, it should come out sooner than this one did. I'm hoping for sometime in late December, near Christmas, but life might rear its ugly head.

On to the story!

Chapter 12: Odd Future: Part 3

"Byakuya's mine!" shouted Ichigo as he charged the Captain.

Yoruichi sighed as she strode towards a female Captain. Sui-Feng. The two quickly flash stepped away from the execution grounds.

Meanwhile, Danny, Shunsui, and Ukitake looked on at the lone Captain Commander, wielding his wooden staff.

"Stand down."

Shunsui gave his sensei a small smile as he gently set his hat down. "You know we can't do that Captain."

Danny's hands lit with ectoplasmic energy. "Yeah, you're gonna pay, Gramps!"

Ukitake turned to Danny, blinking. "You know he has Blood Blossoms and ecto-ranium on him, right?"

Danny's hands lost their ghostly energy as he facepalmed. "Dang it! I should've seen that coming."

Danny took a deep breath has his hazmat suit morphed into the standard shinigami shihakusho accompanied by a bright flash.

"Well at least now the Blood Blossoms won't work."

A blast came in from above that knocked Danny away.

"What the-"

"You're coming with me, Danny."

With that, Danny's vision was enveloped with smoke.

Dani and Uryu stared down Mayuri as he held his sword, boredly.

"Dani," said the Quincy.

The demi-ghost child looked up at him, confusedly. "Yeah?"

"Go help Ganju and Orihime. I've got this one."

Dani looked between him and the Captain, uncertainly.

There was no way she could leave him to fend for himself against a Captain. Maybe Ichigo, Danny, or something, but not Uryu.

There's no way he'd survive.

"Dani."

The halfa looked back to the Quincy and was taken aback by his eyes. They were orbs burning with resolve and power.

'Yeah. . . he can definitely beat him.'

Dani gave a nod to the teen. "Right. I'm on it."

With that, Dani flash stepped away.

Danny looked around him to find nothing but rubble.

"Where the heck am I. . ?"

"I hope you didn't get to sick there, Danny."

Danny looked up to see the hovering form of his dark futuristic self.

"Dan!" growled the halfa as he pulled his zanpakuto from its sheath.

Dan scowled, annoyedly. "Why would you even call me that. If you're going to name me something similar to your namesake at least call me Daniel."

Danny lit his hands ablaze with ethereal ectoplasmic energy. "Why are you even here, sicko?"

The future ghost shrugged with a grin. "I'm just passing through and having some fun."

The halfa rolled his eyes. "Fine. Don't tell me then. Either way, I'm taking you down!"

Dan grinned, baring his his vampiric canines. "Go ahead and try.

Danny thrust a fist of ectoplasmic energy which sprouted a powerful energy blast.

Dan easily allowed a hole to form in his stomach, allowing the blast to pass harmlessly through him.

Danny glared and took in a deep breath as the Dark Danny responded in kind.

Rubble flew in every direction and the very ground beneath the ghosts gave way. The two ghosts powerful howls were loud enough to echo for miles.

However, neither opponents wail was able to overtake the other.

Dan, noticing this, ceased his attack and teleported away as Danny's powerful wave decimated the ground Dan formerly stood on.

Danny spun around in time to receive an ectoplasmic charged punch to the gut, doubling him over.

Dan followed this up with his Ghostly Wail, sending the halfa flying into a mound of rubble.

Danny grunted as he pushed himself up, crunching the gravel underneath his palms.

The ghost boy slipped his hand into the pocket of his hazmat suit, pulling out his Quincy cross.

"Alright, buddy," said Danny as he allowed a reishi bow and arrow to blaze to life. "Time to get serious."

Dan jerked, narrowly dodging Danny's surprise lazer vision attack.

Dark Danny's eyes narrowed as he noticed the halfa was gone. "I'm not in the mood for hide an-"

Dan's nostrils spewed forth red mist as the ghost whirled just in time to get an arrow to the stomach.

Dan clutched at the arrow of energy as he hacked up his green, ghostly blood.

"What the-"

Danny grinned. "Funny thing about Quincy weapons. They're-"

"Extremely harmful to ghosts due to their Holy nature," finished Dark Danny as the arrow dissipated. "Interesting."

Danny's brows furrowed. "How'd you know?"

The elder ghost gave a deep, rumbling laugh. "C'mon Danny, you don't think that link works for only you and Dani, do you?"

Danny wanted to slap himself. Of course it affected Dan too. He had been there with them during that Spider Hollow attack.

"How can you read our thoughts so clearly, and what the heck was in that hole in my inner world. Is the same thing happening to you?"

It may have been his mind playing tricks on him, but Danny thought Dan's pale face, somehow, got even paler.

"It doesn't matter. All that matters is me finishing the job this time."

Dan shot off like a rocket toward the halfa; his fist encased in ectoplasmic energy.

Danny dispelled his bow and instead blocked the incoming punch with his sword.

Dan materialized an ecto-blade as the two began a dance of strikes and parries.

'Danny, this is getting you nowhere. You must use Bankai.'

Danny grunted as he parried a vicious slash from Dan. 'Not yet, Kari!'

"OK," huffed Danny, gripping his sword hilt. "Time to end this."

"Death upon death comes in a raging fire

Chaos comes and Darkness grows darker.

Let my foolish enemies, who think victory is theirs to keep,

Be the ones that, you, my dreaded blade shall reap.

Reap, Karitoriki!"

Dan shielded his eyes from the blazing green inferno of reiatsu that encased the halfa.

When the fire died down, Danny stared down the elder ghost with his double sycthe in hand.

Dan looked on blankly with his head tilted as if considering something. Then, he finally grinned. "Ah! Your Shikai has the ability to take and absorb souls. This should be fun."

Dan gave a short pause and soon threw back his head with laughter. "Is that apprehension I sense?! You would feel guilty harming the person who killed your family and friends?"

Danny ground his teeth and tightened his grip on his zanpakuto. "I've had about enough of your talk, Dan. You're going down!"

The halfa shot off like a bullet, double scythe raised high.

"Gah, how do I get myself into these situations!"

Ganju sprinted down the street with Rukia slung over his shoulder.

"Oof."

The burly man landed flat on his bottom as he winced. "What the-"

The man paused with wide eyes as he stared up at the man he ran into. Or, more specifically, he stared at his Captain haori.

"Hello, Shiba. I would like to personally thank you for delivering the Hogyoku to me."

The Captain raised his blade with an air of arrogance.

"Shatter, Kyo-"

Ganju yelped as Aizen suddenly cut an energy beam in half, creating a powerful explosion.

The Shiba began to slowly scoot away from the smoking center in a shocked stupor.

"Ganju, what the heck are you doing?! Grab Rukia and run!"

Ganju spun to face a hovering Dani hands ablaze with green energy.

"Ye-yeah!" Ganju stammered with a nod. He quickly ran back to Rukia's fallen form and bolted away with the Shinigami.

Dani landed with a soft thud as she glared into the smoke. "I know you aren't dead. Come on out!"

Aizen gave a small chuckle as he stepped out from within the smoke. "Ah yes, you are the other scientific marvel. You would do nicely on my side."

Dani scoffed. "I've been affiliated with way to many messed up fruit loops to join another one."

Aizen just simply smiled and raised his sword. "Shatter, Kyoka Suigetsu."

Dani screamed.

Danny charged at the older ghost, swiping his sycthes.

Dan ducked under the blades and fired a Ghostly Wail that caught Danny in the abdomen.

Danny slammed hard against a building and it easily gave way, trapping Danny underneath the rubble as the building gave way.

Dan watched the pile with crossed arms. "Get up, Danny boy."

Dan easily tilted his head to the side, dodging the ecto-blast from behind.

Danny's follow up punch was easily caught as the ghost began to squeeze.

"You can't win. Just give up and no one gets anymore hurt then they have to be."

Danny grimaced against a particularly strong squeeze that sent spams along his arm.

"Yeah, no. I'll have to pass on that."

Danny hit Dan with a surprise eye beam as the ghost raised a hand to block it, allowing the young halfa to retreat.

'You must use me, Danny. We must use Bankai.'

Danny wiggled his fingers and rotated his wrists to try and numb the pain. "Not yet."

'Dont be stupid, Danny! He is the future you; there's no way to beat him without your Bankai!'

Danny clenched his fists; Karitoriki was right.

Dan, while still arrogant, wouldn't let himself lose twice to Danny. His guard would be up and the halfa would likely be unable to catch him by surprise. The young halfa had, admittedly, very little options.

So, Danny gripped his double-scythe with both hands; his zanpakuto out in front of him.

"Ban-"

Danny turned in shock as a sudden feeling of dread swept over him.

"Dani?" breathed the halfa.

'There's no time for that now; you must use your Bankai at once!'

Danny jerked at the voice. "Ye-yeah. Right."

If Danny hadn't been so unfocused, he would've heard the oddities in his zanpakuto's voice.

Instead, Danny tightened his grip and shouted, "Ban-kai!"

An explosion of light erupted from the halfa. When the light dimmed, Danny stood with two wings, one constructed with green flames and the other made of frigid ice.

Dan raised an eyebrow as he viewed Danny's now mismatched eyes; one green, one an icy blue.

"Y'know, if you were anyone else I probably wouldn't have even considered using this form. But I'll need this to take you down for good."

Dark Danny smirked. "Now, this'll be interesting."

The older ghost spread his hands wide and lit them with ectoplasmic energy. "How exactly will you defeat me when you're busy worrying about that clone brat?"

Danny's brows furrowed in confusion. "What are yo-"

Danny's knees buckled and his eyes bulged as he felt a wave of pain. "Wh-what the heck happneed?"

"Looks like this phase of his plan is about to reach its end."

Danny looked up to see the grinning ghoul with hands now devoid of energy.

"What are you talking about?" Danny demanded through gritted teeth.

Dan's smirk only grew wider. "If you wanna know, go see for yourself, Daniel."

Then, Dan dissapated in a green mist.

A/N: So, next chapter should end the Soul Society arc part of this story. So, you guys can look forward to that at some point. (Hopefully soon)
