Diclaimer: I own neither of these franchises.

A/N: Merry Christmas everybody! I hope you all enjoy this chapter and stuff. This is the finale to this arc, so I made sure to make it fairly long but not unnecessarily so.

As for the next arc, I'm not entirely sure if I'll skip the Bount arc or not. I might make a poll.

Anyways, enjoy.

Chapter 13: Odd Future: Part 4

The Ghost Zone was a very odd place. However, if you spent enough time there, you would notice it wasn't so odd at all.

This was the case for the ghosts that lived in the Ghost Zone. It was a civilization teeming with populace and ideas just like any other place. The Zone had grown from the chaotic mess it had been in the days of Pariah and the Quincy War.

Clockwork often smiled at the now prosperous and amazing world the Ghost Zone had become.

However, things would not always remain orderly in any realm.

Hence, Clockwork found himself observing the current events in the Seireitei with a friend.

"Things sure are getting interesting out there, huh?" asked Plot the hollow.

Clockwork's brows furrowed. "Indeed. It is only a matter of time now before the true battle begins."

"D'ya think the halfa can handle this?"

Clockwork gave a grim smile as he looked on. "He will prevail. It is his destiny."

Danny groaned as he tried to push himself to his feet.

His muscles failed him, and he dropped, face-first, into the dirt.

Dan had done a number on him and his bankai was beginning to drain what little energy he had left.

'You're weakening, Danny.'

The Ghost child's eyes widened as he felt a chilling cold waft over him.

It went deeper than his ghost sense. It was a frigid chill that shook him to his core.

"What are you?"

'Don't worry about that, boss. It's not important right now. Just let me take over for a while.'

Uryu powered down as he felt is Letz Stil fade and the last of his Quincy power leave him.

He wasn't paying much attention to that, though. His eyes were narrowed in the direction of the new, malevolent Reiatsu.

"What's going on?"

Yoruichi and Sui-Feng looked on towards the dark Reiatsu.

With a nod to the other, the two shunpo users added out of sight.

"Sorry about that," grinned Ichigo, sheepishly. "My inner demon went out control. How about we start again?"

Byakuya raised a brow. 'I see. Pride drives him. He wants to defeat me himself.' "Alright. I will indulge you."

Byakuya swung his sword, flinging the blood off of it. "I'll disregard your early outburst. However, neither of us have the energy to continue. Let's let this next attack be the last."

Ichigo gave a small nod as he tightly gripped his hilt. "Sure, but I've got a question to ask you. Why did you stand by while your sister was going to be executed?"

Byakuya's expression remained like stone. "I'll answer your question if you win."

Ichigo's knees bent as he readied himself for the final charge. "Alright then."

Byakuya's eyes widened a fraction just before Ichigo and he sprung. Ichigo's brows furrowed.

"What's wrong?"

"That Reiatsu. . ."

Without explanation, Byakuya shunpo'd away.

Ichigo scowled. "Hey bastard! We haven't finished our fight yet!"

Ichigo flash stepped after him.

"Pity. You would have done well by my side."

Aizen strolled away from the passed out clone, reaching out to the shinigami. "Now, for the Hogyoku."

"So, you're the one who weakened my master."

Aizen turned to face the corrupted halfa with a small, knowing smile.

The halfa had a mask encasing his head, stopping just short of his nose. Spider web-like designs were etched across his mask. His Reiatsu reeked of killer intent. So much so that it would have been suffocating to an ordinary shinigami. "Ah, a pleasure to finally meet you, Danny Fenton. No, that's not correct. You're not exactly him, now are you?"

"Danny" grinned a wicked grin as he peered down at the rogue Captain with his mismatched eyes. "Call me Noritaka."

Aizen couldn't help the grin that stretched across his face. "Law; a bold name to give yourself."

Noritaka leaped down from his perch and, leisurely, strolled towards Aizen. "True, but I think you'll find me strong enough to back it up!"

Aizen gave a low chuckle as he deftly slipped off his glasses and tossed them aside. "We'll see."

Noritaka charged at Aizen with blinding speed. He swiped his fire blade across Aizen' s chest, engulfing the traitor in green flames.

"Hahahaha, die you son of a bitch!"

Noritaka tensed as he heard the sound of clapping behind him. "You have an interesting power; however, I'm not entirely certain of its capabilities."

Sure enough, the hollow turned to see Sosuke Aizen with his smug grin.

The possessed halfa growled in annoyance as he leaped toward Aizen again. He swiped at him with both blades only for Aizen to disappear.

Noritaka spun in every direction trying to locate his enemy. "Where are you, ya coward!"

"Right here."

Noritaka turned around with wide eyes and swords raised.

However, it was too late.

"Number 90: Kuroshitsuji."

A black box of Reiryoku began to form around Noritaka in the blink of an eye. Dozens of swords jammed themselves into the box as Noritaka gave a cry of pain.

The box dissipated and Noritaka dropped to his knees, bloodied and broken. The hollow's mask began to crack as it fell off it chunks, leaving only Danny.

Danny managed to catch himself before he fell face-first. "Why. . are you doing this?"

Aizen rolled the Hogyoku around in his palm. "You'll see in time, Daniel."

Danny grimaced at the use of that name. "I think you'll be inclined to join me one day."

Danny grit his teeth as he pushed himself to his feet against his muscles aching protests. "Y'know," spat Danny. "You sound a heck of a lot similar to this other fruitloop I know. He thought I'd join him. We ended up disagreeing."

Aizen smiled a sickeningly sweet grin. "Oh, you'll find my goal to be far less selfish than Vlad."

Danny groaned. "Of course the two fruitloops know each other."

"HEY, COME BACK HERE!"

Danny spun around with wide eyes.

Byakuya was standing just a few feet behind him, and Ichigo was not far behind. Yoruichi and Sui-Feng were standing side by side.

"Ah, the Calvary's here. It was nice to meet you, Danny. I hope to see you soon."

Aizen began to stalk away as the very air around Aizen began to crack as Kaname Tosen and Gin Ichimaru stepped out of the portals.

"Aizen," breathed Byakuya with wide eyes.

As if things couldn't get any weirder, Dark Danny swooped down, grinning like mad.

Danny's eyes widened as he saw Toshiro, hanging limp under Dan's arm.

"What is the meaning of this?!" demanded Sui-Feng.

Aizen looked back with a small smile. It was filled with a deep smugness and victory. "The meaning? I'm moving towards a revolution, Captain."

Aizen ran a hand through his hair leaving only a single strand hanging in front of his forehead. "This world has been imperfect for far too long."

With that, Dan tossed Toshiro at the feet of Danny.

Three pillars of light surrounded the traitorous Captains and they rose into the sky, disappearing from sight.

"Dang it," muttered the ghost kid as he finally collapsed.

Danny held a hand to his face as his eyes attempted to adjust to the sunlight blasting against his face.

Danny glanced around the room, dimly noting he seemed to be in a hospital room

He pushed himself up only to glance down to see his clone sister, Dani, asleep in a nearby chair.

He could easily feel the worry and anxiety radiating from her.

His fists balled up as he remembered all the past events. Dan and Aizen got away, he'd lost, the weird hollow thing took control of him, and this Hogyoku thing had been inside Rukia and was now in hands of someone worse than Vlad.

Everything was so much more complicated than before.

"Ugh. . . where-"

Danny snapped back to reality just in time to see a blur slam into him. "I'm so glad your okay!"

The elder halfa rubbed her back comfortingly with a smile. "You don't have to worry, Dani. Everything's going to be fine."

There wasn't much merriment despite the fact that Rukia was alive and unexecuted.

Yamamoto had allowed them all to leave, got rid of Danny's public enemy title in Soul Society, and personally cancelled Rukia's execution.

After leaving the hospital, Danny found himself visiting Yumichika Ayasegawa.

The last time he'd faced the shinigami, he took a piece of his soul with his shikai. It had been small, Danny had been hardly able to tell, but it was now Danny's. Soul snatching, no matter big or small, could have disastrous effects.

Danny took a deep breath before he entered the Squad 11 barracks. He got a few glares for what he did to their Captain, a few shrank away from him, and some just stared.

When he finally reached Yumichika, he wanted to turn back. But it was too late.

"Hey Danny~!"

Danny gave a tight smile with a curt wave. "Hey."

Yumichika strolled up to Danny, his smile never leaving his face. "Now, don't be a stranger Danny. What's brought you here?"

Danny figited and ran a hand through his messy hair. "I, uh, just wanted to make sure you were alright after our fight."

Yumichika rolled his eyes with a huff. "I faced far more precious grevious injuries, Daniel; I'm fine."

"No, it's just that my shikai-"

"Look, Daniel, your concern is flattering, but I told you I'm fine. Besides, your friend already healed me, Ikkaku, Kenpachi, and every other injured member in our Squad. We all feel right as rain."

Danny watched Yumichika, uncertainty. "Alright, if you say so."

Yumichika grinned as he held out his hand. "OK, if that's all, I'll let you be on your way. See you later."

Danny couldn't help but return the grin as he returned the gesture. "You too."

Before he knew it, Danny was out of the Squad 11 barracks. 'Do you think Orihime's healing ability could have healed the missing piece of his soul?'

Danny shrugged. "I dunno. I think it may have."

Karitoriki paused for a while before responding. 'I suppose that makes sense. Her power does indeed feel. . . strange.'

Danny's brows furrowed, but before he could ask anything, he saw a destitute Captain sitting on a bench.

Danny carefully walked over to the white haired Captain. "Hey, Toshiro."

Toshiro glanced up with a scowl. "What do you want?"

Danny sucked in his teeth. This could wind up turning bad. "Well, uh, you seemed pretty down and stuff, so I wanted to see what was up."

The young Captain stared up at Danny strangely before releasing a deep sigh. "If you must know, I was kidnapped when my guard was down and my friend was manipulated. She's having trouble believing that her former Captain, Aizen, could have ever been evil."

Danny nodded, awkwardly. "I sorta know the feeling. I've been captured more than I'd like to admit, and my ex was manipulated into hating me by a really crazy fruitloop. Well, uh, actually, Cujo kinda trashed the place, so that's probably not the best example. . ."

Toshiro stared at the Quincy hybrid with a raised brow. "Do you have a point you want to get to?"

Danny chuckled nervously with reddening cheeks. "Uh, yeah. I actually have a better point. My friend Dani was manipulated by this fruitloop. She-"

"What in the name of the Soul King is a fruitloop?" Toshiro asked, exasperated.

"It's basically a psycho. Anyways, she actually thought he cared about her, but he was playing her the entire time. It took a while to help her see the truth, but she came to see him for the jerk he was."

Toshiro nodded as he took in the information. "So, is there anything specific you did to help her get past his influence?"

"Well, we fought each other. But she pretty much only changed because she saw the fruitloop's true colors for herself."

Toshiro sulked and Danny noticed. "Hey, everyone's different, but time helps. I'm sure she'll get better. You just have to keep being there for her."

Toshiro nodded as he pushed himself to his feet. "You're right. I will continue to help her."

Danny grinned as he stood up as well. "Great. Well, I'll bring my sister to talk to her sometime, since she's a psychologist. She'll probably be able to help speed things up."

Danny couldn't help but grin wider when he saw a small smile tug its way onto Toshiro's lips. "That would be great. Thank you, Danny."

With that, Toshiro turned on his heel and walked off.

Danny could hear the smile on Karitoriki's face. 'That was incredibly noble of you, Danny.'

Danny rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, it was whatever Kari."

Dani didn't quite know how she ended up in this situation, but there she was.

She and Orihime sat at the bedside of Captain Ukitake at the request of Shunsui. He had questioned her about her reluctance to use her shikai.

Once she'd told him about its ability to break bonds and destabilize things, he got the idea of using it to heal his friend's lung condition.

'No pressure, Dani. Just use your powers, that you barely have control of, on something incredibly intricate. No pressure at all.'

So, there Dani sat taking in a shuddering gulp as she raised her hands towards his chest, zanpakuto in hand.

"Rip to pieces, Messatsu!"

Her two familiar gloves soon placed her sword as she held them to Ukitake's chest.

"You ready, Orihime?"

Orihime nodded as she stretched her own hands out. "I'm ready!"

Dani's hands began to glow as her Reiatsu penetrated into Ukitake's body.

Then, the clone found herself in darkness.

Dani spun around, frantically, her head on a swivel.

There was nothing to see for miles. She felt like she was drifting through a sea of molasses.

"What's going on here?"

"What is your objective with my host?"

Dani spun around to face a giant hand with an eye in its center. It seemed like an astral form of sorts as it didn't look physical in the slightest.

Dani shook herself out of her reverie. "I'm here to heal Jushiro Ukitake!"

The being was silent for a long while, Dani was beginning to question her psyche when it finally responded. "I cannot let you do that."

Dani's eyes narrowed. "Why not?"

"This body is my host. As my host, we made a contract. In exchange for his lungs, I would stop the progression of his illness."

Dani scowled. "There's gotta be something I can do!"

The hand went silent again. "Come on you stupid hand! There has to be some way I can heal him!"

"The only ways for this contract to be broken is death or a complete sacrifice of body from my host. There is no other way."

Dani's fists clenched. "Screw you! I don't believe that!"

Dani charged an ice blast and thrust it at the ethereal hand. The blast simply went through the hand, harmlessly.

Before Dani knew what hit her, the hand slammed into her with the force of a hurricane.

Dani jerked with deep and frequent breaths as Orihime and Shunsui rushed to her aid.

Dani jerked at the sudden feeling of Orihime's hand on her shoulder, before she realized she had returned to the Squad 13 room.

"Dani-chan, what happened?!"

Dani stared right at Ukitake. "I'm sorry, I can't heal you."

Ukitake nodded with a look of understanding. "Ah, yes. Well, I tha-"

"Yet."

Ukitake's brows furrowed. "Pardon?"

"I can't heal you right now, but I promise that I'll find a way to heal you later!"

Ukitake gave a small smile at the clone's proclamation. "I appreciate that, Dani-San."

"Where the heck are Danny and Dani?" asked Ichigo.

"Geez, could ya have a little patience," chastised Ganju. "Some people have no maturity."

Ichigo gripped his zanpakuto hilt. "You wanna try that again, Shiba?"

Ganju stuck his tongue out and Ichigo growled. "Why you little sh-!"

Kukkaku knocked both of them upside the head, halting the confrontation."Cool it you two. They're here."

Sure enough, the two Fentons were approaching them along with Orihime.

"Hello, everyone. I hope we didn't take to long," said Orihime.

Yoruichi smiled. "No, you all are right on time. Danny, would you do the honors?"

Ichigo's eyes widened in horror. "What the heck?! He's sending us back? Don't you remember what happened last time he teleported us?!"

Yoruichi rolled her eyes. "It's the only way he'll get better. He must continue to train his ability."

Danny took a deep breath and channeled his shikai, bypassing the usual incantation. "Reap, Karitoriki!"

His broadsword transformed into the familiar burning green double-scythe.

Danny closed his eyes and focused on the energy of Karakura Town. His scythe began to glow as a green, fiery portal appeared.

With one last wave to Kukkaku and Ganju, the group stepped into the portal and back into Urahara's shop.

"Oh, it's good to finally be back!" cheered Orihime with her bright smile. The rest of group couldn't help but grin with the infectious happiness.

The group said their goodbyes and headed off their separate ways. Danny and Dani took off through the sky to their temporary home while the rest of them waited to be dropped off by Urahara's magic carpet.

Yeah, that was gonna take a while to get used to.

Before long, the two ghosts landed at their front door.

"Are you sure about me staying with you all? I mean, I don't want to intrude," said Dani.

Danny rolled his eyes. "I told you, it's fine. They'll love to have you here."

With that, Danny rang the doorbell.

In no time at all, Jazz swung the door open and yanked Danny into a hug.

"Oh my goodness, I was so worried! You just left to a whole new world for almost a week without saying goodbye!"

Danny winced as Jazz popped him in the back of the head. "Yeah, I'm sorry Jazz, but it was kinda short not. . wait a minute. How did you know?"

Jazz rolled her eyes. "Dad would do anything for his fudge, obviously."

Jazz blinked several times as she finally noticed the new visitor. "Oh, Dani, what you doing here?!"

Dani rubbed her arm. "I'm here to hang for a while. If it's not to much trouble, I mean."

Jazz smiled, warmly. "You can stay here as long as you like."

Dani beamed and the three stepped inside the Fenton home.
