Monday morning, Shannon woke him up with a kiss on the cheek. There was sunlight coming through the curtains and he could hear the once again frequent sound of birds chirping just outside the window. "Good morning."

"Morning," he replied a bit groggily. Jethro then rolled onto his right side and gave the redhead a soft smile. "You're beautiful, you know that?"

Shannon smiled, amused. "I didn't know you liked the bedhead look, Jethro."

He gave a little hum in response before giving her a quick kiss. "Only on you."

His wife chuckled, pulling the blanket up slightly. "You're such a sap sometimes."

Jethro shot her a cheeky look. "Nah. Never."

His wife matched his expression without missing a beat. "Unfortunately, Mr. Gibbs, the evidence against you is irrefutable."

"Eh," he quipped, "it's all hearsay."

Shannon hit him with her pillow, causing him to laugh.

"I've been thinking," he said a few minutes later, "we could head down to Philly one of these weekends if you wanted. Been a while. Weather's nicer."

Her eyes immediately lit up. "There are a few people it would be nice to see."

"Yeah," he agreed. "Exactly why I suggested it." She had moved back to the D.C area without any hesitation when they got back together but Shannon did still have friends and such in the city. That hadn't changed and he didn't expect nor want it to.

"I'll let you know," the redhead replied happily. Shannon then shifted onto her left side so that she was facing him. Locking eyes for a moment, the couple kissed.

When the pair finally broke apart, his wife gave him an inquisitive look. "When do you have to be at court this morning?"

Jethro sighed. "0900. Don't have to go to the Navy Yard before either." It was honestly nice to have a bit of a later start to the day for once. He kissed Shannon on the cheek. "Hmmm, I changed my mind. I'm thinking bed, all day, with you."

She chuckled softly. "Judges don't like to be kept waiting and I have a class to teach."

He gave an amused little hum in response. "True, but that's what substitutes are for."

She pretended to consider it. "Tempting."

The pair laid there in bed for several more minutes before they finally decided to get up and making their way downstairs for coffee and breakfast. In that order.

He ended up spending the better part of his day in court. A Marine reservist who was charged with the killing of a George Mason University student in Fairfax back in 2009 had finally been taken to trial.

His team hadn't caught a case that day and, as a result, they were just working on some paperwork as well as following up on a cold case lead. Not that the lead actually ended up going anywhere. As such, he wasn't in a rush to get to NCIS after he testified, opting to stay at the courthouse as it was the last day of the trial.

Jethro did leave when court was dismissed for lunch, however, going out to grab a bite to eat with an old buddy of his from his days in the Corps who was in town for a few days, Clarence Barker. It had been a good while since the pair had talked and it was good to catch up, even if it was extremely brief.

Two years ago, former Marine Lance Corporal Samuel Fuller had been involved in a confrontation with nineteen-year-old Jacob Thomson after a party that they had both gone to. At some point during the fight, Thomson fell and hit his head on concrete.

Thomson was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries a few days later.

The former lance corporal had been charged with one count of murder, one count with two specifications of assault consummated by battery and one count of the wrongful use of a controlled substance. He really couldn't bring himself to have much sympathy if any for the guy. He'd made his own bed.

Judge McFadden looked over at the jury. "Has the jury reached a verdict?"

"We have, Your Honour!" the jury foreman said.

"What say you?" the judge asked.

Jethro tapped his foot a couple of times.

"On the sole count of wrongful use of a controlled substance," the jury foreman finally read off, "we find the defendant guilty."

A pleased feeling washed over him as he waited for the last two charges to be read.

"On the sole count of murder in the second degree," the jury foreman announced, "we find the defendant guilty. And lastly one the count of -"

Jethro smirked as the last charge was read off. Guilty on all charges.

"Samuel Fuller," the judge said, "you are remanded to D.C Central Detention Facility pending sentencing." Judge McFadden then turned to the jury. "Members of the jury, we thank you for your service."

With a smirk firmly planted on his face, Jethro glanced down at his wrist, checking his watch. It was only 1430. So, with court out, he grabbed himself a large cup of coffee and headed to NCIS to get some of his reports and other paperwork done.

With it being a really slow day, when 1600 finally rolled around Jethro decided to send his team home for the day. There really wasn't anything keeping them there and they weren't about to complain about getting to be home for dinner.

Walking into his house, Jethro was immediately greeted by Shannon who had been laying on the couch, with a blanket, fully engrossed in one of her books. Once the kiss broke off, his wife eyed him, nose crinkling. "Good to have you home early."

Jethro smiled warmly at her. "Yeah. Was a slow day at the office. We all left the second the director headed out the door."

Shannon pulled Jethro in for another quick kiss. "Good by me." The redhead then took on a slightly more serious countenance, crossing her arms. "Did you know?"

"Yes," he confirmed, guessing easily enough that his wife was referring to the fact that their daughter was pregnant. "Walked in on Kel puking right after her taking a couple of pregnancy tests." Jethro put his hands in his pockets. "Wanted to let her tell ya." Kelly wasn't going to tell anyone else just yet but wanted both parents to know. She had, of course, sent an email off to Michael, but it could still be a few days or weeks before he had the chance to read it. As for everyone else though, Kelly was nine weeks pregnant and wanted to wait until she was, at least, twelve or thirteen weeks along and the risk of miscarriage greatly decreased before telling anyone else.

She nodded, clearly feeling a little torn. "Things are gonna get interesting."

He gave a little chuckle. "She's definitely our kid."

His wife gave a happy little hum. "Yeah, she is."

He pulled his wife in close and kissed her on the forehead. Jethro then readjusted her so that she made eye contact with him. He gently touched her chin, leaving his hand there as she spoke. "Which is exactly how I know she'll be an amazing mom." Jethro smiled down at her. "Look at just who she has for an example; one hell of a woman."

Shannon smiled up at him. "You're too sweet." She giggled, clearly feeling a hell of a lot happier about the situation. "God, Jethro, we're going to be grandparents! We're actually going to be grandparents!"

"I know," he said, grinning right back at her. "Now I definitely feel old."

Shannon just burst out laughing. "What does that make me?"

"Still as lovely as ever," he replied cheekily, the smile never leaving his face.

His wife swatted his arm playfully. "Nice save there, Marine."

Who was it who said that if she drove you crazy she was probably the one? He couldn't remember the name, but in this case, they weren't wrong.
