Alec POV
"Come on, Alec," Felix cheered, tossing articles of clothing in my direction. "We're going out. It's club night!" He grinned. I caught the garments easily; a T-shirt and some jeans.
"Get out," I snapped, swooping my Volturi cape off. "I'm coming."
"You know you love club night. What's crawled up your ass and died?" Felix asked with a grin. "Are we having troubles with-"
His mocking was silenced by me hurling my small side table at him. He flashed out of the way in a blur, shutting the door.
"Fiiiine, be that way! But you have five minutes, or Jane's coming up there herself! She's a little cranky!" He called, descending down the hall. I snarled, and proceeded to change. They were uncomfortable, along with the contacts we were forced to wear.
"As if I need that much time," I muttered to myself, fully clothed. I placed the dark blue contacts over my eye, ignoring the temporary irritation it brought.
For the entire duration of the trip, Felix and Demetri endlessly argued over what music would be played. Both were unfortunately interested in the trashed, electronic-sounding music that were considered popular songs. I could feel Jane becoming just as bothered as I.
"I want Taylor Swift, damn it!" Felix yelled, reaching forward from the back seat to turn the dial. He danced idiotically, unsuccessfully attempting to meet the artists's pitch.
"So it's gonna be foreva! Or it's gonna go down in flames! You can tell me when it's over, mm, if the high was worth the paaaaain!" he screeched along, his face contorted in mock emotion. Demetri scoffed loudly, sharing the backseat with him.
"You have got to be kidding me, mate. Taylor Swift wouldn't even spit in your direction," he replied, his own arm shooting forward. With a simple flick of his wrist, he had exchanged it for what sounded like country music.
"I dug my key into the side of his pretty little 'suped up four-wheel drive. Carved my name into his leather seeaaaaats!" Demetri sang, imitating the artist holding a microphone.
I was an eighth of a second away from muting them both.
"Carrie Underwood? She's not even your type!" Felix shouted in disbelief. staring at Demetri. A solid, screeching thud sounded from the back seat, indicating that he had just struck Demetri, and he returned the motion.
"You will both stop this instant, before I have Alec pull the car over," Jane said calmly, but I knew my sorella all too well; she was enraged.
My lips twitched, and my grip on the steering wheel lessened. I adored my sister and her ability to inflict pain upon others. It would have pleased me greatly to enjoy such a showcase from inside of this vehicle. Demetri and Felix were tolerable; when they meant business. Otherwise, with nothing to do, they resorted to acting childish.
"I'm changing the station when we ride back," Felix muttered, his arms crossed, staring out the window. Demetri scoffed.
"We will see about that, mate. Touch the dial, and I just might bribe Alec into making you feel nothing for a month," he grumbled. I smirked.
"Consider that a definite possibility," I said, parking the car and cutting the engine. Felix breathed in deeply, taking in the selections.
"Ah, fresh humans," he grinned. "My favorite. Let's go!"
He sauntered up the entrance, disappearing inside. I followed suit, until a specific scent caught my attention.
An otherworldly scent. A scent that overcame every one of my senses; igniting such a dry, scorching flame in my throat, that it became unbearable. It was a sinful combination of rose petals, fresh mint leaves, sandalwood, and jasmine; a combination I had never come across before.
It was the most delicious scent I had ever witnessed. As much as it pained me, my instincts longed to find the source of it.
I could see the venom dissolving the edges of my contacts, already.
I weaved through the crowd of humans to find myself a one to drink. I convinced myself to have one first, and that I was possibly exaggerating this new scent. It was well over a month without feeding, due to a recent mission with no humans in the area.
I am never going this long without feeding, ever again.
I found Jane dancing with her flavor of choice. I despised any male coming close to my beloved twin sister, but I held no concern; Jane could very well take care of herself. I spotted Felix and Demetri charming two young females at the bar. I reluctantly breathed in, and found myself a nice blonde with false highlights. I sauntered over to her, and leaned close to her ear.
"Care to dance?" I asked her seductively, using my tone as my weapon. She whirled around, raking her eyes over me appreciatively. This girl wore an absurd amount of makeup, but she would do.
"Sure," she responded back, pushing up against me.
Then, the music ceased, two bright spotlights shining on the club's stage, revealing a young female, and two males with her.
"What the f-" my meal cursed, looking toward the stage. "Where's the music?!"
It was her.
Her.
She was the one who smelled so...
My throat was engulfed in flames; I flared my nostrils.
"Hey. I'm Cheyenne. This is our little group, and we're gonna sing for you tonight," the girl on stage announced, her stance timid.
This? This was the human causing me so much torture?
I gripped the brunette, most likely bruising her in the process. I needed to satiate my thirst, before I massacred the entire venue.
I didn't make my decision soon enough; the human began to sing, my ears becoming fine-tuned to her voice instantly.
Her voice, clear and firm, poured a wave of enchantment over me. Every note was hit perfectly, easily; but it wasn't the expertise that bound me. It was the sound itself coming from her mouth.
I was incapable of tearing my eyes away, no matter how hard the fight. The only thing holding my attention was her.
I felt a holy desire to be nearer, to follow her. I desired to be encased with the sound for eternity, as if it would fulfill every unspoken need of mine. Her voice called out to me, beckoning me, willing me to stay in her presence and be at her mercy.
I also longed to murder her. To drain her.
The temptation of wondering what her sweet, singing blood would taste and feel like in my mouth sent me over the edge.
The contacts completely dissolved when she caught my gaze.
