APOV

I could not stay here. I had to leave immediately.

My sister's arm on my own provided me a focus point from this strange power emitting from the human girl on the stage. Angered, I dragged the blonde-streaked brunette with me out the back doors of the club and sucked her dry without hesitation, my body shuddering in pleasure. I could taste the alcohol in her system, a tainted taste, but my desires overtook me. All too soon, she was empty, and I disposed of her body.

More.

"What is it, brother?" Jane asked, putting her hands on my shoulders. "You're distressed."

The smallest crease formed right in the center of her forehead, and I kissed it away.

"That human," I hissed under my breath. "I am not sure what happened, but..."

The performing human on stage could have sated your thirst, though.

I shook the thought out of my head. The scent was burning in my nose, a cursed, effervescent blend of mint, sandalwood, jasmine and roses. Jane's own hiss copied mine, her head whipping ninety degrees toward the source of my torture.

"What's that...sound...?" Felix asked from behind us. The immediate slowing of his voice was too apparent; it was much too clear that he had fallen under the same spell.

"I hear it," Demetri answered identically. By instinct, my palms opened, releasing the silent, dark fog around them. This was insolent, dangerous; we needed to leave now. This unknown power source was much too serious to linger around. I would not be controlled, or left exposed. Never in my millennium as an immortal did I experience such power, such a force that disabled me from reality.

And it would not happen again.

My body surged with the urge to kill, red coloring my vision, thirst incinerating my throat. I never desired to end an human more than I did in this very moment. This human needed to be eliminated.

I shifted through fifty ways to obliterate the cursed voice inside the club in a matter of seven seconds, none of them being good enough; none of them emitting just enough how much I truly hated the feeling she forced upon me. None of them would be a violent enough ending to punish her.

I lured Felix and Demetri back to me, closing my palms once we were far enough away from the noise.

I could hear Jane hissing hundreds of threats underneath her breath all at once. My lips twitched in a smile.

"What in the hell happened?" Felix roared once we were in the car, speeding back to the castle. "Demetri?"

"It was enchanting," Demetri commented, entrapped in a shocked state of mind. "It was an inescapable pull. I hear her voice, and then..."

"It's like nothing I've heard before, that's for sure," Felix mumbled. "She was like a siren. I felt as if I had no control over myself. She pulled me to her. Did you feel that, Demetri?"

"Indeed. I felt...peaceful. Strangely enamored," Demetri mused.

I tightened my grip on the steering wheel.

I hate her.

"Do you think it was a gift?" Felix countered.

"We should take her to Aro. She could be useful to the Guard," Demetri answered. I knew him so well; I knew he was smiling. I planted my foot on the brake of the car, nearly destroying it.

"Do not speak of her again," I commanded with venom. "Or so help me, I will cut off your senses for months on end."

"Brother," Jane said softly, touching my shoulder. "She is merely an act for the evening. She will be gone within the next day. Felix, drive us home." She hissed at him. Felix complied, and switched seats with me.

They didn't speak of the human for the duration of the car ride.

Once I got my hands on her, she will have sung her last song.
