In Elizabeth Journal. Valley Spring is my home, it has become more than that. It's my inspiration, finally, I've found the heart of the story I want to share about this special place. It's about the spirit of love and community here, how no is judged by the past, how redemption is possible, even when it seems impossible. I have the beginning and the middle... I just wish I knew the ending.

At the cafe

So, do you have an idea for your first story? Abigail said

I think I do. Elizabeth said

Oh, I wish I could write. You're so talented. Abigail said

You have to say that because you're my friend. Elizabeth said

Because you're my talented friend. Abigail said

And your nosy friend. So, you and frank? Elizabeth said

(Sighs) me and frank. Abigail said

Well. Elizabeth said

Well, frank is a wonderful pastor, and I'm happy the town wants him to stay. Abigail said

But you're worried. Elizabeth said

I don't know if I want to get involved with someone who has secrets. Abigail said

Had secrets. Elizabeth said

Fair enough. Abigail said

What are you talking about? Corey said (as he comes in from the upstairs living space into the café)

Grown-up stuff, nothing interesting. Elizabeth said

Corey, how come you're not dressed for school? Abigail said

I'm hungry. Corey said

Get dressed and we'll talk about breakfast. Abigail said

I need you to pick out my shirt. Corey said

Corey, I think you're old enough to pick out your own clothes. Abigail said

I can help you Clara said

I need you to do it. Corey said

(Giggles And sighs for Elizabeth) (Giggles for Clara)

I'll be right back. Let's go, young man. Abigail said

(Chuckling both Elizabeth and Clara)

Meanwhile outside at the jailhouse

You're headed out early. Jack said

I got a long ride ahead of me. I want to let Carlos Benjamin's widow know we got a lead on garrison. Bill said

Headquarters sent out a few extra patrols nothing yet. No sign of John either. Jack said

Garrison's out there, jack. He needs frank. He doesn't give up easily. Bill said

Neither do we. Jack said

Meanwhile at school

I have an announcement this week, we'll having a spelling contest. Elizabeth said

You mean like a spelling bee? Robert said

Well, Robert it's better than a spelling bee, because for this contest, you won't be competing again each other. You'll be competing against yourselves. Elizabeth said

What does that mean? Corey said

Well, it means that everyone who learns all of the words on the board and gets đź’Ż% on the test well receive... one of these. Certificate With your name on it. So, make sure you get someone to help you stay after school. All right, you may go to recess. Elizabeth said

I'm going to get my mom to help me stay Beatrice said

I'm going to get miss Abigail to help me. Corey said

She's not your mom. Beatrice said

So what? She can still help. Corey said

It's not the same. Beatrice said

Sure it is. Corey said

You're not her real family. Miss Abigail doesn't love you the way my mom loves me. Beatrice said

Miss thatcher Wesley said "coming in from outside out of breast"

Mr. Blake what brings you here? Elizabeth said

I'm looking for constable Thornton, you know where he is? Wesley said

I believe he's on patrol. What's wrong? Elizabeth said

There's been an accident at the mill. It's mr country. Wesley said

Outside of town a little ways

I did everything you told me. I guess it just didn't work out. John said

Maybe I sent the wrong man. Jake said

Everyone in the valley saw that wanted poster. Still, they wouldn't run him out of town John said

What are we gonna do now? Santion said

If we can't get Matt, seems to me we might as well move on. All go our separate ways. John said

Say lucky, why don't you show John here what we do to somebody who decides to leave before I say so? You're not going anywhere you understand? Jake said

Meanwhile in town

(Wincing) Lee

Now, I stopped the bleeding, but you are going to need stitches. Jack said

Well, what I need is to get back to work. Lee said

He can't stand on that foot, much less work. Jack said

Well I can if you stitch it up. Lee said

To be honest, lee, this is more then I can handle but if I wire dr. Bart now, he can probably get here before the end of the day. Jack said

Well, can I at least go home ? Lee said

It's best you stay here in town until the doctor arrivals, okay? Jack said

Well I guess that's it, Wesley, you're in charge until I get back. Please try to keep things on schedule. Lee said

Yes, sir. Wesley said

We have enough actually met yet. Jack said

I'm mr. County's new foreman Wesley Blake said

Hi jack said "as they both share hand" "Scuffing of feet down the hall"

Lee! I came as soon as I heard (gasps) what happened? Rosemary said

(Wincing) ah, ah, ah! Uh, the number two winch cable, just this cable snapped and whipped across my foot, but it'll be fine. Lee said

(Gasping) I don't want you to worry about a thing, I am not going to leave your side until your... back on foot again. Rosemary said

I'll be fine Rosemary. You don't need to stay. Lee said

I want to stay. Rosemary said

Well, thank you, I will appreciate that, but I think I just need to rest. Lee said

Of course you do. Rest is the best thing for you until the doctor arrives. Let me fluff your pillows. Rosemary said

You just going to sit there and watch me sleep? Lee said

Nothing is going to happen to you while I'm here. (Softly) i'll be as quiet as a mouse. Rosemary said

Just outside of lost Hills

Excuse me, miss. Are you by chance Lauren Benjamin? Bill said

I am Lauren said

My name's bill avenue. (Sighs) I was a good friend of your father's. Is your mother around? Bill said

Oh,um... My mother passed... just a few years after my father was killed. Lauren said

I'm sorry, I didn't know. Bill said

Um, well, it look like you've ridden a long way. Would you like to come in for some tea, mr. Avenue? Lauren said

That's mighty nice of you, thank you. Bill said

Sure. Lauren said

Meanwhile in valley spring

You here to pick up Corey? Frank said

He likes it when I walk him home from school. Abigail said

I can't say I blame him. Frank said

I just wish I didn't have to run back to the cafe for the dinner rush. Abigail said

You're working too hard. You need to have some fun. Frank said

I have fun. Abigail said

You ever play darts? Frank said

(Scoffs) Ă  long time ago. Abigail said

Well, how about you and I see how much you remember tonight at the saloon? Frank said

Well, I'd like that, but ... Abigail said

My past is still bothering you, Isn't it? Who I was and who I am now. Frank said

I'd be lying if I said it didn't. Abigail said

(School bell rings)

You don't feel comfortable spending time with someone like me? Frank said

It's not that–– Abigail said

Abigail, I don't want to push you into doing something you don't want to do. Frank said

You're not. Darts it is. Abigail said

I love darts! When are we going to play? Corey said

Oh, Corey, you and I will play darts another time. Abigail said

But it's spaghetti and meatball night! And miss thatcher said there's a spelling contest, and I need you to help me learn the words! Corey said

I'll help you learn the words, Corey, and I'll make you an extra big bowl of spaghetti. You and frank go have a great time, and we'll have a great time, too. Elizabeth said

Come on Corey. Abigail said

Meanwhile outside of lost

Here you are. Lauren said

Thank you. Bill said

Careful, it's hot. Lauren said

You have your mother's smile. Bill said

She was, um... she was never the same after my father was gone. See my father shot during the bank robbery it was just too much for her. Lauren said

The reason I'm here is because... we were never able to find a suspect for your mother to identify. Until now. Bill said

You found the man who killed my father? Lauren said

I think so. His name is Jake garrison. We believe he's hiding out in the high country somewhere east of valley spring . Bill said

But bill avenue, I mean, without a witness like my mother, you can't, there's no-– Lauren said

Lauren I promise you I will personally see to it that Jake garrison pays for his crimes one way or another. Bill said

Thank you so much. Lauren said

Meanwhile in valley spring

What about this one? Abigail said

Are you going on a date or to a funeral? This is the one. Elizabeth said

Oh, I'm sure this is a good idea. Abigail said

No, trust me. It's beautiful. Elizabeth said

I meant tonight. Getting all dressed up, leaving Corey... Abigail said

Don't worry about Corey. He'll be fine. Elizabeth said

I know, but is this happening too quickly? Look what happened with bill. Abigail said

Different man, different situations. Elizabeth said

Well, I'm not so sure. I thought I knew bill, and really, what do I know about frank? Abigail said

That's why you're going to spend time with him, to get to know him. Elizabeth said

(Sighs heavily) Abigail

Corey, Corey, isn't miss Abigail's dress beautiful? Elizabeth said

I guess Corey said

Corey I won't be long and you'll fun at miss thatcher's Abigail said

No I won't Corey said

Sure you will well study your spelling words, well eat spaghetti and meatballs, you can play catch with constable Thornton while I shop for dinner. Don't you want to practice your pitching? Elizabeth said

I'd rather stay here with miss Abigail. Corey said

We will study your spelling words tomorrow, I promise. And I'll bake you a pie for dessert. Okay? Abigail said

Okay. Corey said

He's not usually like this. Abigail said

He'll be fine. Elizabeth said

Oh...(chuckling ) you and this dress. Abigail said

Outside the cafe

So, how is mr. County? Martin said

Oh, he's going to be better once the doctor gets here. Tell me, you ever think about re-opening the infirmary? Jack said

Well, technically, the infirmary is still the property of the mining company. Martin said

Well, I'm sure you could pull some strings. A growing town needs a doctor. Jack said

I'll take that under advisement. That's not a bad idea. Martin said

Oh, let me help you, miss. Jack said

Oh, thank you sir. Shirley said

You welcome miss. Miss... Jack said

Miss Shirley said

Jack! Faith said

Faith? Jack said

It is so good to see you. I was hoping I'd run into you, but I didn't know it would be this soon. Faith said

What are you doing here? Jack said

I live in Lost hills now. I work for dr. Bart. He was busy, so he sent me instead. Faith said

Um, this is our mayor, Martin Gowen. Nurse faith Cora. Jack said

I take it you two know each other. Martin said

We met in Hamilton, when i took care of jack's brother in the hospital. Faith said

A pleasure, miss Cora. Martin said

Mine as well. Faith said

Good afternoon. Martin said

(Sighs) I shouldn't keep my patient waiting. I just need to drop off my bag and clean up a bit. Which way is the hotel ? Faith said

Well, I'll walk you over. Jack said

Thanks. (Chuckles) faith said

You moved to lost hills ? Jack said

I did. I got engaged to a banker who lives there. Faith said

Oh, that's great. Congratulations. Jack said

(Chuckling) oh, Jack. You didn't think I came all this way to just to see you? Faith said

No, of course not. Jack said

(Chuckles) I hope not, because I was worried it might look that, and I didn't want you to think...faith said

No, it didn't, at all. Jack said

Good. What about you? Did Elizabeth Letcher stay in Hamilton? Faith said

No. She's right here. Jack said

So you're engaged too? Faith said

We're taking our time. Jack said

That's smart. I know there were things the two of you needed to work out. Faith said

And that is all behind us. Jack said

I'm glad to hear it. I hope things aren't awkward between you and me. I enjoyed spending time with you in Hamilton, and I want us to be friends. Faith said

Of course, we're friends. Jack said

That means a lot to me. Faith said

Look if there are any problems with the shipment any at all lee said

I got it handled, mr. County. Don't you worry Wesley said

Good Lee said

All Abigail had left was some tomato soup. It's not half as good as mine, but it'll do in a pinch. I added a little salt. Rosemary said

I'm not hungry. Lee said

Hmm Rosemary said

(Knocks Gently)

Hey lee said

Help has arrived. This is Faith Cora. She is a nurse from Lost hills. Jack said

Nurse? Where's dr. Bart? Rosemary said

He wasn't available, so I'm filling in. I hope you don't mind. Faith said

I guess you'll have to do. Rosemary said

I guess I will. Faith said

I once played a nurse on the stage. Rosemary said

What a coincidence I once treated an actress for pink eye. Faith said

Well, looks like you're in capable hands here. I'll check on you later. Jack said

Thank jack Lee said

Nurse Cora I'm afraid your patient hasn't been very cooperative. Rosemary said

Really faith said

I can't get him to eat anything. Rosemary said

I keep telling her, I'm not hungry. Lee said

And I keep telling you, a healthy diet is key to a speedy recovery oh, as I'm sure you're well aware. Rosemary said

True but I'm more concerned with cleaning and suturing the wound. Faith said

Constable Thornton has already taken care of that office are trained in first aid. Rosemary said

I know, but it doesn't hurt to be thorough. Faith said

Why don't we just let her job, okay? Lee said

Lee, save your strength. No need chime in. Rosemary said

Lee mmm-hmm

What's the bell for? Faith said

(Gasps) oh! That was my idea. It's for emergencies. In case lee needs me and I'm not right here. Rosemary said

Are you sure you can hear it all the way down the hall? It's so small it might not be loud enough. Faith said

Well, I don't know. He hasn't used it yet. Rosemary said

Why don't we test it out? Just to be on the safe side huh ? Faith said

That is a good idea. Now, Lee, when I leave the room ring the bell. Rosemary said

Whatever you say lee said

Okay. Whenever you're ready! Rosemary said

Just a minute! Faith said

Ha! Lee said

Now, let me have a look at that foot. Faith said

Meanwhile a Horse come running in town

Pastor! (Clucking tongue) h'yah... Bill said

Yeah,no word from John, so no need asking again. Frank said

Jake garrison killed one of my best friends, and I stood up for you in this town when most people wanted you gone. So, the way I see it, I can ask any questions I want. Bill said

As long as we keep the subject to garrison, that's fine. Frank said

Convince me John won't bring garrison into town to get you back. Bill said

John won't come near this town if he's smart. Frank said

Well, he didn't appear to me to be all that bright. Bill said

He's had it harder than most. He lost both his parents when he was young. He kicked around a spell before garrison took him on. He's not a bad kid. Frank said

A little girl named Lauren Benjamin grew up without a dad because of Jake garrison, so you'll excuse me, pastor, if I don't turn the other cheek. Bill said

He had nothing to do with that. Like I told you before, he's not a killer. Frank said

Sounds like you got a soft spot for the kid. Bill said

There was a time when he looked up to me, for all the wrong reasons. No John's old enough to make his own choices. I just pray every day he makes the right ones. Frank said

You let me know if see him. Bill said

Meanwhile at the mercantile

And I need some iodine, if you have any. Faith said

You're in luck. That'll be $2.00 even. Katie said

Mr. County said I could put it on his account. I hope that's all right. Faith said

I didn't catch your name. Katie said

Faith Cora. She said

Faith Cora from Hamilton? Elizabeth said

You must be Elizabeth Letcher. Nice to finally meet you I've heard so much about you. Faith said

You too. Elizabeth said

(Sighs awkwardly ) faith

So what are you doing here in valley spring ? Elizabeth said

I'm looking after mr. County. The doctor was busy so he sent me. Faith said

And you came all the way from Hamilton? Elizabeth said

No, I work at the hospital in Lost hills now. Faith said

Oh. What brought you to lost hills? Elizabeth said

My fiancé lives there. He's in banking. Faith said

Oh... you have a fiancé. That's wonderful. Congratulations. Elizabeth said

Thank you. Jack has told me so many wonderful things about you. I feel like I already know you. Faith said

That's very sweet of you to say. Elizabeth said

Um, I'd better get back to my patient. I hope we have the chance to get better acquainted. Faith said

I'm sure we will. Elizabeth said

Great. Thank you. Bye. faith said

Bye. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile outside

Jack! Tanner said

Oh my goodness Tanner what on earth are you doing here I thought you were elsewhere. Jack said

I thought that who is you I had a few days off but my sister found something on our cousin Noah she asked me to meet her here why I don't know, you wouldn't happen to know when the stage is doing. Tanner said

No I don't but it's do in it until tomorrow, i'm afraid I am running late and I have plans. Jack said

Oh. of course, we'll talk later. Tanner said

That night at Elizabeth house

How's that? Wesley said

Perfect. Elizabeth said

Hello? Jack said

Hi! Elizabeth said

Hi oh, hope I'm not interrupting. jack said

No. Jack, you've met my new neighbor. Elizabeth said

Yes, of course. Wesley Blake jack said

Hey Wesley said

Wesley was kind enough to hang this picture for me. Elizabeth said

It was good to see you again, constable. Ma'am Wesley said

Thank you. Elizabeth said

You know, I could have hung that picture up for you. Jack said

I know you could, but I mentioned it to Wesley, and he offered. Where's Corey? Elizabeth said

He's outside playing with the dogs and he's not in a great mood. Jack said

He wanted to stay with Abigail tonight to practice his spelling with her. He really wants to get that certificate. Would you mind setting the table? Elizabeth said

Sure jack said

So, I ran into faith Cora today. Elizabeth said

Oh, you did? You met her? Jack said

She's very pretty. Elizabeth said

Well, she's a very good nurse. Jack said

I'm sure she is. Elizabeth said

Elizabeth, you know I had nothing to do with her coming to valley spring , right? Jack said

I really want to believe that, but I think I might need something a little more convincing than just words. Elizabeth said

More convincing? Jack said

Mmm-hmm Elizabeth said

I wonder what that could be. Jack said

(He all most kisses her)

(Door opens) is dinner ready? Corey said

Coming right up. Um, just wash your hands. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at the saloon

Is this how I hold it? Abigail said

Yeah, very close, just... just... that's it, two fingers there. Just feel ... just relax a little. Just nice and easy. Frank said

Okay. (chuckles) Abigail said

Real smooth. Okay? Frank said

Here we go. Abigail said

All right, give it a shot. Not bad, not bad try again just ... boom. frank said

Okay Abigail said

Wow, that's what I call beginners luck. Frank said

I never said I was a beginner Abigail said

You didn't even know how to hold the dart. Frank said

I'd forgotten. Abigail said

Wait a minute, have I just been taken? Frank said

I don't know. Have you? Abigail said

It seems I'm not the only one with some secret around here. Frank said

A little mystery can be a good thing. Abigail said

What else don't I know about you? Frank said

Well, you'll have to stick around and find out. Abigail said

Back at Elizabeth house

All right Elizabeth said

That's not how miss Abigail makes spaghetti. Corey said

Well, it's miss Abigail's recipe. Elizabeth said

But she doesn't mix it all together. Corey said

But it tastes exactly the same. Elizabeth said

I'm not hungry anymore. Corey said

Well... I'm not a doctor, but I think it's because you have a case of the giggles trapped inside you. Elizabeth said

No, I don't. Corey said

Good. Because whatever you do, don't smile, because there's absolutely... (Exhales) nothing to smile about. (As she puts her spoon to her nose) nothing to laugh about, nothing funny. Nothing at all. Isn't that right Jack? Elizabeth said

That's right, you listen to miss thatcher. There's absolutely... (breathes out) nothing to laugh about. In fact laughing is strictly forbidden. (As he puts his spoon on his nose) Jack said

(Giggles) can I try it? Corey said

Mmm-hmm yay! Elizabeth said (Both jack And Elizabeth clappers Laughing)

I guess I'm a little hungry after all. Corey said

(Both of them rip a pawn his new pal Kipp both Howell and whines excitedly)

Meanwhile outside in the café

I don't remember the last time I was hustling in darts. Frank said

I hope you're not mad. Abigail said

No! Mad? I'm impressed. Frank said

(Chuckles) I had a lot of fun tonight. Abigail said

Me too. Frank said (as he kissed her)

Good night Abigail said

Good night frank said

(Sighs) (going into the café as the door closes)

your back late. Bill said

I didn't know I had a curfew Abigail said

Business is better in this month bill said

Well, a growing town is certainly good for business, that's for sure. Abigail said

The question is, do you know what's good for you? Bill said

Bill, if you have something to say, just say it. Abigail said

All right. I'm worried about you and Frank. Bill said

I don't see how that's any of your business. Abigail said

well, maybe it isn't, but that doesn't mean that I can't be concerned about your safety. Bill said

Frank had a past that he is not proud of, so he faced it. He faced all of us. Abigail said

Regardless, there are a lot of dangerous people looking for this guy. Bill said

Well, then he needs us more than ever. Abigail said

(window is shattered)(Exclaims And gasps)

(as Bella opens the door to see if they could see anyone who might have broke the window) They're Gone! Bill said

(And Abigail notices a rock under one on the tables A monks the broken glass from the broken window that said Matt Landry A pond it)

Next morning at the saloon

I expressed my concerns about the situation with the pastor, but everyone wanted to pre-tent that it would be all right. Well this is the situation that we find ourselves in. What do you suggest we do Constable? Martin said

(Crowned murmuring) Yeah! Come on!

OK let's not overreact. Jack said

No one's gotten hurt. Wesley said

Not yet. Martin said

Garrison wants me. I'll find him, and saddle this thing once and for all. Frank said

You go out looking for him, you're just going to get yourself killed. You know he's not going to take no for an answer. Jack said

What do you say we arm some man and go out and out number Garrison? Martin said (Crowns erupting in agreement)

Sending out a mob to hunt down a gang of outlaws is a sure way to get innocent people killed. Listen up, everyone, if Jake Garrison wanted to hurt anyone here in valley spring , I believe he would have tried to do it by now. What he's want's, and apparently he's succeeding, is to scare us into turning against one another. Garrison wants Frank to join up with him again. That's all. No I am not going to let that happen Frank I'm not going to let anything bad happen to valley spring . Jack said

And you are not alone. If they do come, we'll be ready. We can take shifts watching the streets. Wesley said

I'll take the first watch. Hickman said

As long as you're just watch. No heroics. That goes for all of you. If any of you see anything suspicious, you come straight to me or bill. Understand? Jack said

Yeah. Hickam said

Good. Jack said

(Indistinct murmuring)

I think you should stay away from Abigail. At least until this is over. Bill said

At least? Frank said

You know what I mean. Bill said

Yeah, I think can I do. Frank said

This is an about Abigail's safety nothing else. Garrison will leave her alone if you stay clear of her. Bill said

You're right. I'll stay clear. Until Garrison gets arrested. Frank said

Meanwhile at the café

Where you able to get any sleep at all? Elizabeth said

A little but it wasn't easy (sighs) Abigail said

Abigail, it's Okay to be scared. Elizabeth said

If I'm scared, then those monsters win, and I will not let them win. Abigail said

Well, at least close down The Café for a few days. Elizabeth said

I can't. Abigail said

Can't or won't? Elizabeth said

Maybe a little bit of both. But do you think that Corey could stay with you until this is over? Abigail said

Of course. Elizabeth said

There's nothing to be afraid of , Miss Abigail. I won't let anyone hurt you. Corey said

I know, sweetheart, and I promise, they won't, But it's important that you stay with Miss thatcher for now. Abigail said

But don't you need me here? Corey said

Corey, I need you to be safe, and to Work on getting that wonderful spelling certificate. Come on, let's go pack your bag Abigail said

(That night Just as the shifting of the town's man changed for the night between the stage coach platform and the café)

Clara... John said

John... you scared me. Clara said

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. John said

What are you doing here? Clara said

I came back to telling you. You have to warn Frank. Garrisons are coming after him. If he doesn't go with them, they'll kill him. John said

You have to tell constable Thorsten. Clara said

No, I gotten get out of here. John said

You can't keep running forever. Clara said

If Jake finance me, he'll kill me. John said

Then you have to stand in a fight or you're going to be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life. You can make a new life here John. Clara said

I don't now... John said

If Matt Landry can do it, so can you. Clara said

He's in better man than I am. John said

I don't blame that. I believe in you John. It's time you started believing in herself. Right now, your friends need you. Are you going to run out on him? Clara said

Meanwhile at the hotel

How is he? Rosemary said

His foot was infected but he's going to be fine. I gave him something for the pain. it should help him rest. Faith said

I think we got off to a bad start, and I'm sorry for that. Rosemary said

Don't worry about it. It's very hard when someone you care about gets hurt. Faith said

Still, I didn't mean to tell you how to do your own job. Rosemary said

And I guess I owe you an apology for that trick with the bell. Faith said

(Chuckles) it's all right, I probably deserved it. Rosemary said

No, you didn't. Maybe just a little. (Chuckles) Faith said

Thank you for taking such good care of him. Rosemary said

It's what I do. Faith said

(Chuckles) (sighing deeply) oh, Lee... Im so glad you're going to be all right. But you scared me half to death, you heartless man. When I heard about your accident... I don't know what to do. I couldn't imagine my life without you. I thought that scared me even more. What I'm trying to say, don't you dare get hurt. And don't you dare ever leave me. Rosemary said (if she kiss him on cheek)(sniffles)

Meanwhile at the schoolhouse and church (Doors opens)

It's been along time since I've been in church. Jake garrison said

Well, things couldn't have been different if you spent more time in one. Good to see you, boys. Frank said

Well, this isn't a social visit, Matt, but you guessed that. Matt, there's a golden train coming this way, and we need your help. Jake said

Well, I don't want any part of it, but thanks for asking. Frank said

(Jake chuckles) well, you better change your mind, well, I don't want to start hurting people, but I will, starting with that pretty lady of yours. Jake said

You touch Abigail, and i will end you. Frank said

(Jake punches Frank) (grunts)

Well... maybe I won't kill her maybe I'll just bring her along for the ride. Jake said

All right, Jake, you win. Frank said

I always do. Pick him up. Jake said (chuckles)

(Guns cock) stop right there. Don't do it. Jack said (groans)

(Frank there is one of Jake boys after school straps as jack arrest him. Frank tumbles with one of Jake's garrisons boys. Jake runs from the back door of the school of coarse spell it goes after him)

Frank! John YELD (Shot fires) as he tackles yet another one of Jake's boys (groaning)

You got this? Jack said

I got it. Frank said

I won't miss from here. bill said

Do I know you? Jake garrison said

Let's just say I'm a friend of Carlos Benjamin. Bill said

Got killed in a bank robbery. Or so I heard. Jake garrison said

Well, you should now, you killed him, along with Silas Ramsey, and knows how many others. Bill said

You got no proof. Jake garrison said

Oh, I'll get it. Maybe not from you, but I'm sure one of your buddies back there is willing to talk. Bill said

Your friend? He died on his knees, begging for his life. I guess he didn't beg hard enough. Jake garrison said

Well, you're not gonna have a chance to beg. Bill said

Don't do it! Tanner said

Don't do it! Bill, Now I know how you feel, but you cannot shoot him in cold blood. Jack said

Watch me. Bill said

Bill...he's going to get what's coming to him, believe me. You pull the trigger, you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison. Put down the gun, bill. OK let's get a move on let's go and join your friends Jake, do you mind managing him Tanner and thanks by the way. Jack said

All right let's go into town mr. Tanner said

Oh he's One of ours. Jack said

Oh sorry constable, Tanner said

it's OK, mr. Bill said

Constable Tanner Said

Oh you're off duty. Bill said

Yes, sir. Im am and I am meeting friends here in town. Tanner said

The next morning at the cafe

Thanks, Clara. Abigail said

Ms. Abigail! I was really worried about you. Corey said

Oh, I told you I'd be fine. Get your books, I'll walk you to school. Abigail said

The spelling contest is today! Corey said

Oh! We can practice on the way there. Abigail said (chuckles)

(Sighs) so it's over with garrison and frank? Elizabeth said

Finally. Abigail said

Are you all right? Elizabeth said

I think so. I'm going to talk to frank later. Abigail said

You've been through so much. I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now. Elizabeth said

Well, they say what doesn't kill you make you stronger. Abigail said

Then I think you must be one of the strongest women I know. Elizabeth said

(Both chuckling)

Meanwhile outside the jailhouse

I owe you one, Jack. Bill said

What for? Jack said

For making me take my finger off the trigger. Bill said

The garrison deserves to be locked away, not you. Jack said

You know how hard it is for me to play by the rules. Bill said

I do. Jack said

(Sighs) That's way my days as a officer are over. Bill said

You sure about that? Jack said

I'm sure. Bill said

Well, Mountie's loss, pinkest's gain. Jack said

I'm won't be taking that job, either. Bill said

No? Jack said

I think I do my best work when I don't have to answer to anyone. Bill said

Well, I'd have to agree with that. Jack said

(Chuckling) well, what do you know, Jack, for the first time in my life, I got to change to whatever I want. Bill said

Whatever you choose, I hope you stay in valley spring . I'll always have your back. Jack said

That goes both ways, Jack. Bill said

I know. Jack said

Meanwhile at the schoolhouse

I have never been more proud of this class. You all worked so hard and it shows by your, scores on your spelling test. Yes, Robert? Elizabeth said

When are you going to hand out the awards ? Robert said

Right now. First up, we have... opal. đź’Ż% (all applauding) Very good work, opal. Elizabeth said

Thank you . Opal said

Next up, we have... Corey. 100% ! Mrs Abigail will be very proud. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile near in the pond

Abigail, I'm so sorry. Frank said

For what? Abigail said

For What could've happened. Frank said

Oh... I can live with that, frank, I couldn't live without giving in to fear. Abigail said

You don't scare easy, do you? Frank said

No I don't. Abigail said

Neither do I, you think you can live with that? frank said

I don't know. But I think I need to find out. Abigail said

Meanwhile Just outside of lost Hills

Do you think she knows? Lauren said

I know she does, and she's at peace. bill Said

So am i. Thank you for that. Lauren said

(As Bill pouts some white flowers on her grave)

Mr. Avenue? Would you pray with me? Lauren said

Meanwhile in valley spring

(Chatting quietly) excuse me faith! Faith, wait up. How's lee doing? Jack said

Fine. He should be back on his feet in a day or two. Faith said

Well, good. Is something wrong? Jack said

No no, it's nothing. Faith said

You sure? Maybe I can help. Jack said

You can't. Faith said

Bad news from home? Jack said

No, no, not at all. Um... it's personal. I'm sorry, jack I have to go. Faith said

At the cafe

Ms. Abigail! Ms. Abigail! Corey said

Whoa, Corey, slowdown. Clara said

Where's ms. Abigail? Corey said

She's out with pastor frank. Clara said

Don't worry, you can show her your certificate as soon as she gets home. Elizabeth said

But I want to show her now. Corey said

But she's isn't here now. Elizabeth said

She's never here, she's is always busy. Corey said

Corey, that's true. Elizabeth said

Who cares about a stupid certificate anyway? Corey said (as he tears it up and runs up stairs)

Corey, what's wrong? Elizabeth said

You won't understand. Corey said

Well, I could try. I know it's hard having to share I miss Abigail with other people. Would you like to know a secret? Constable Thorsten told me that he didn't like it. that his mom went out without him either. but it didn't mean she didn't care about him. Elizabeth said

It's not the same. Corey said

Well, I think he felt a lot like you do. Elizabeth said

But Miss Abigail's not my mother! Corey said

No,she's not, but– – Elizabeth said

Anna says Miss Abigail can't love me the way your real mom can. Corey said

Anna's wrong. Elizabeth said

No, she isn't. I don't belong here. Corey said

Corey, that's not true. Elizabeth said

Yes, it is. I don't belong anywhere. Corey said

Have you ever heard the story of the ugly duckling? (As Corey shook his head no) well, there once was a little duckling, and he thought he didn't belong anywhere either. And all the ducks and Other birds were making fun of him, and... here's that no one cared about him. And then one day he met a family of swans. And guess what? (Sighs) he found he fit right in. It wasn't the family he was born into. But it was the family he was meant to be with. You're a Swan, Corey, and you found your Family, and that family is Miss Abigail. Elizabeth said

But I am not really family. I just live in her house. Corey said

No you don't. You live in her heart. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at saloon (Indistinctement chattering, darts throwing)

Ah... thanks for thé game. I hear John's on the mend Bill said

Yeah, he's going to be all right. Frank said

Turns out he did it the right thing after all. Bill said

Well, you sound surprised. Frank said

Well,I am. But I guess those prayers of yours paid off. Bill said

They usually do. Frank said

But you didn't come here to talk to me about the power of prayer, did you? Bill said

No. I came to thank you for everything he did for me. Frank said

Don't thank me, thank jack. I had to score to settle with Garrison. (As Frank nods and walks to the bar in the saloon) I thought you boys were on the clock? Bill said

Not anymore Hickman said

Another axle broke on a delivery wagon. That's the third one this week. Looks like we're gonna to miss another deadline Wesley said

That must be bad for business. Bill said

You're not kidding. First Mr. County gets hurt, and now this? Hickman said

If things don't start turning around, we're gonna start losing a lot of contracts. Wesley said

And Mr. County's not going to be happy about that. Hickman said

Meanwhile at the cafe

I don't blame it Anna. I don't think she meant to hurt Corey. Elizabeth said

Oh, of course not. I just wish I had known sooner. Abigail said

Well, we've all been A little distracted lately. And Corey hadn't mentioned it to me until just now. Elizabeth said

I need to tell Corey that Anna was wrong. Abigail said

Children always know the truth when they hear it. Elizabeth said

Which is exactly what I am going to tell him. Abigail said

I'm glad you're still awake. Abigail said

I thought you'd be mad because I have school tomorrow. Corey said

Sometimes, it's OKAY to bend the rules now and again. Do you know why you're so special to me? (As Corey shakes his head) because God put you in my life for a reason. In the moment you were here, I knew I wanted you to stay. Abigail said

I never thought about it like that. Corey said

Well then think about this. I need you just as much as you need me, and that's why we found each other. Abigail said

Like the ugly duckling found his real family? Corey said

Just like that. You are my real family, Corey, and I don't have it you very much. Abigail said

I love you, too, ms. Abigail . Corey said

Meanwhile back at Elizabeth's

In Elizabeth journal I need to do an ending to my story and I found one I found it in and how the people of valley spring . Stood together to face their problems and their fears whether those fears belong to a town, or just to a little boy who needed love. Tonight in valley spring ,our hearts rest peacefully, and safe.

The next day

I think you are pushing yourself way too hard, lee. There is no reason for you to hurry back to work like this. You need time to recover. Rosemary said

(Sighs) Rosemary, I cut my feet. I don't have the plague. Lee said

Well, that may be, but a person can never be too careful. Rosemary said

(Sighing) this person has work to do. Lots of work to do. Lee said

Just promise me you will take it easy. Rosemary said

I promise. Lee said

I'll be back later to check on you. Rosemary said

Oh, I know you will. Lee said

Don't work too hard. Rosemary said

I won't. I keep telling you, I'm not sick. Lee said

Well, let's keep it that way, then, shall we? Rosemary said

Go, go, go...oh, boy. Wesley, give me some good news, please. Lee said

I wish I could. But we lost another contract. Wesley said

(Sighs) That's the second one in three days. Lee said

We couldn't meet the delivery schedule, not with three wagons out of service. And one of the saws is down. Wesley said

How long to fix that? Lee said

I have two guys on it now could take the rest of the week. Wesley said

All right, well, Atlantis get six guys on it. we gotta dig ourselves out of this hole we're in. Lee said

Meanwhile at Elizabeth house

(Knock on Door) come in. Elizabeth said

Looks like a snow storm in here. Jack said

jack, this is so frustrating. I want to write about valley spring . I want to stare stories about my life here with the rest of the world, but I seem to get past the first line. Elizabeth said

Well, sometimes, you have inspiration and sometimes, you don't. Jack said

I think mine's taken a vacation . Elizabeth said

Well, It's back now. I ordered this from the mercantile for you last week. Jack said

(Elizabeth Gasps) jack ... it's so wonderful! Elizabeth said

I know how much these stories mean to you. Jack said

Thank you so much. Elizabeth said

Try it out. Jack said

(Sighs) as she puts paper in a type writer (keys clacking sharply) (as Elizabeth hand what she typed on the paper to Jack it stated) ( You are my inspiration) is what was on it.

Late for that morning at school

All right, everyone. Now before we get started, I would like to introduce you to Holly Francisco. She just moved here from Hamilton. Elizabeth said

Isn't that where you come from? Corey said

Yes, it is, and it's very far away, So I want you to welcome holly and make her feel at home. Elizabeth said

(All) hi, holly! The children said

That's very nice. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile in town

I was thinking chocolate cake. Florence said

Oh, please, Florence, there's really no need to make such a fuss. Dottie said

Oh, you know me. I like to fuss. Florence said

Morning, ladies! Bill said

Good morning. Florence said

I hear someone has a birthday coming up. Bill said

I know this is hard to believe but I didn't say a word. I swear it Florence said

So how did you know? Dottie said

Well, I am an investigator, and my investigation has led me to the conclusion that someone may not have any plans on her birthday. Bill said

I didn't, but Florence just invited me. Dottie said

Out to lunch. She's completely free for dinner. And I'm completely behind on my shopping. I must go. Good day. Florence said

So how does a birthday dinner sound ? Bill said

Delightful. Dottie said

I know this great little cafe and this amazing chef who only cooks on special occasions. Bill said

Oh, and who would that be? Dottie said

What's your favorite dish? Bill said

I like to be surprised. Dottie said

Well I'm very good at surprises. How's 7:00 on Thursday ? Bill said

I'll see you then. Dottie said

(Sighs) this is the last of it. I should have some apples to send tomorrow and I'll bake some bread. Abigail

(Sighs) well, you've been more than generous. Frank said

Well, it's hard for those settlers in the valley to move here and leave behind everything they know. Abigail said

Sounds like you speak from experience. Frank said

Well Noah and I came out west looking for a better life but it took a wild to find it I remember what it's like to be hungry so if there is anything else I can do let me know. Abigail said

Oh, you've done more than you know, really. Frank said

Well, I can't say this a.m. about you. You've been there every day for a week. Abigail said

Best part of my job is being of service. Frank said

What's the worst? Abigail said

Missing Sunday brunch at the café. Frank said

Well I could be convinced to open that early. Abigail said

(Chuckles) No, no, you got too much work to do. Frank said

Oh cooking you breakfast is not work. Abigail said

Well, I better get out there. Frank said

You know what? Clara can handle the lunch rush. I'm going with you. Abigail said

Hey, that's great. I can use the help. Frank said

Yes it'll be a good for us. Like a new beginning after everything that's happened Abigail said

Yeah, I know what you mean. But don't think this gets to you after hook. I still want a rematch at darts. Frank said

Oh my you are a glutton for punishment, aren't you? Abigail said

I'll see you outside frank said

Yeah. Abigail said

Taking the afternoon off? Bill said

Yes I am going to help the settler. But Clara is here. Abigail said

I'm sure she'll manage just fine. Bill said

Is there something you needed? Abigail said

Actually, there is. Um... I want your permission to close the café in our early on Thursday night. Bill said

Oh. May I ask why? Abigail said

It's Dottie Ramsey's birthday and I wanted to cook her dinner. Bill said

That is a lovely idea. Abigail said

So it's all right with you? Bill said

Yes I think she'll love it. Abigail said

She's just a friend. Bill said

Of course she is. Abigail said

Meanwhile at the school

So there are some shortcuts in learning the multiplication tables. Can anyone tell me what those are? Elizabeth said

Miss Thatcher, Miles stroll at my book. Emily said

Miles, please give Emily her book back. Elizabeth said

Is it time for recess yet? Corey said

(Sighs) A short recess. Elizabeth said

Ooh, it's my turn with the kickball! Robert said

No it's not it's mine. Corey said

Boys please share. Elizabeth said

Do you wanna play hopscotch Laura said

I don't play hopscotch. My best friend Jill and I playing croquet. Holly said

Hopscotch is fun a girl said

I said I don't want to! Holly said

Laura, what's going on here? Elizabeth said

We just asked her if she wanted to play hopscotch with us. Laura said

Hopscotch is dumb. Holly said

Maybe you're dumb. A girl said

All right, that's enough! Everyone back in side everyone in your seats. Now I am very disappointed in how you all are treating each other today. Elizabeth said

She started it! Girl said

It doesn't matter who started it what's important is that we all learn to treat each other with kindness in this class so... today will be The first day of... kindness week. Elizabeth said

What's kindness week? Corey said

Well every day this week, for your homework, you're going to do something kind for someone else it can't be someone likes your best friend it needs to be someone else. Elizabeth said

Like who? Anna said

Someone you want to normally think of. And you get to pick. Elizabeth said

Do we have to? A boy said

Yes, we have to. Because were at community and it's time we started acting like one. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at the settlement

This couldn't have come at a better time pastor. It's been tougher to find work than we thought A man said

Well I heard the railroad was hiring. Frank said

They were for a while. Not anymore couple of people got jobs at the sawmill but it's still not enough to go around The man said

Will do what ever we can to help. Abigail said

Thank you the man said

(Baby crying)

Is he all right? Abigail said

He won't stop crying Erin said

What's his name? Abigail said

Oliver Erin said

Hi Oliver. How long has he had a fever? Abigail said

Couple of days Erin said

There is a nurse in town could help. Abigail said

Oh, I couldn't afford a nurse. Erin said

Oh don't worry about that. Frank said

No you're part of Valley Springnow. We take care of each other. There there Oliver it's okay. Abigail said

Meanwhile in town at the jail ( as Thunder rumbles from the mountain tops)

You wanting to talk to me? Faith said

Yes. I'd spoken to Mayor Gowen. He said you turn down the offer to run the infirmary. Jack said

That's right. Faith said

You don't like working here and Valley Springjack said

No I do. Faith said

Can I ask why you said no? Jack said

I got a wire from my fiancé. He told me I had to go back to Lost hills right away. Faith said

Is everything all right? Jack said

Yes, everything's fine. I... i said I'd come as soon as my work was done, that I wanted to help set up the infirmary and get it up and running. Faith said

But he had a problem with that? Jack said

I guess so. He's coming here tomorrow to take me home. Faith said

Well, how do you feel about it? Jack said

I don't know. I mean, I love Patrick, and I want to make him happy, but being here and making a difference in people's lives, it makes me feel so ... alive to tell you the truth, I don't know what to do. Faith said

(Door opens)

I brought... dinner? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude Elizabeth said

No, it's all right. I was just leaving. Faith said

Oh, Elizabeth said

faith... talk to Patrick about it. Tell him how you feel. Jack said

I feel as though I've interrupted something. Elizabeth said

She turned down the offer to run the infirmary. It turns out her and her fiancé are having some problems. Jack said

And she came to you to sort them out? Elizabeth said

Yeah. I'm her friend. Jack said

I know. Doesn't mean I have to like it. Elizabeth said

Just for the record, I'm not sure how i feel about Wesley Blake living right next-door to you. Jack said

Well ... (inhaled sharply) he is rather dashing. Elizabeth said

How am I ever going to compete with that? Jack said

Maybe you should try. Elizabeth said

Okay. After dinner, i'm going to take you for a long, romantic walk around the lake, just me and you. Jack said

It's a bit chili for a walk. Elizabeth said

Don't Worry I'll keep you warm. How's that for competition? Jack said

You win. Elizabeth said

Lead to hearing that evening (crickets chirping dogs barking distantly) at the café

He's not crying anymore. Erin said

There you go. He has a mild ear infection, but we caught it early. He shouldn't be just fine. Faith said

Thanks to the two of you. Erin said

But I would like someone to bring you into town in the morning, just to be sure that there are no complications. Faith said

I don't think I can impose again. Erin said

It's not an imposition,Erin. Abigail said

I can't thank you enough for all you've done. Erin said

(Door opens)

You ready to go? Frank said

See you tomorrow. Erin said

The next morning at the cafe

Caleb surprised me this morning why I'm making my bed. It earned him an extra cookie in his lunch. Mary said

It is important to teach the children to respect each other. It's about learning Manners if you ask me Florence said

It is so hard to teach children to behave properly. You talk and talk and it goes in one ear and out the other. Molly said

(As Rosemarys attention is caught by their conversation from Molly talks loudly and in the café everything echoes)

Well I think I may have a solution for you. When I was your children's age, Young ladies and gentlemen learned good manners by attending a dance. Rosemary said

That's an interesting idea... Abigail said

It was marvelous. Girls in their very best dresses and the boys in their Sunday suits, all so proper so elegant, and on their very best behavior treating each other with respect and courtesy. Rosemary said

I wish we could do something like that here. Mary said

We could, If Rosemary would organize it. Abigail said

Ooh, well... it is kindness week and... well I do have a talent for putting together such things. Rosemary said

No one does it better than you. Florence said

Well, there'd have to be at a dance class so the children could practice. Rosemary said

They could stay after school. Mary said

Then there's the formal dance we need decorations and of course there have to be refreshments. Rosemary said

I'll bake brownies. Abigail said

I'll bring a punch and some cookies Florence said

(giggling) well this is amazing kindness is contagious and valley spring . Rosemary said

Meanwhile outside

Rumor has it that Lee county's been losing a lot of business. Bill said

Yeah he can't seem to catch a break. Jack said

Anything like this ever happened before? Bill said

No it hasn't are you think what I'm thinking? Jack said

Somethings not adding up Jack. Bill said

Right let's just hope it's a string of bad luck. Jack said

It better be. This town lives and dies by that sawmill Bill said

Jack! I want you to meet my fiancé this is Patrick Frederick. Faith said

Patrick, a pleasure. Jack said

Constable. It's a nice little town you have here. Patrick said

Well, we like it. And we appreciate all of Faith's help. Jack said

She's very good at all that she does. Patrick said

We were hoping she could stay until we found a replacement for her. Jack said

We need to get back home, I'm afraid. Patrick said

If I just stayed another week or two. Faith said

Don't you have a wedding to plan? Patrick said

I do. Faith said

Then there's no more to say. Nice to meet you Constable. Patrick said

You, too. Jack said

Jack you got a minute to win need to catch up bro, Tanner said

Oh that are you wait a place tater. Shirley said

well, hi,how are you sissy. Tanner said

Well I'm sure with your uncle allegedly being here in town. You too have a lot to catch up on, perhaps finding him since he moved out here. I'll let you to catch up. You can drop by my office later and we'll catch up Tanner, good day Miss. mckinnick. Jack said

Um... was that Jack Thorsten. Shirley said

Yes, it is I didn't know he was out here in till I ran into him the other day waiting for you and actually he's a constable. So what do you now on uncle Noah and shall we go in the café to talk. Tanner said

Let's go to talk. Shall we. Shirley said

Ok. Tanner said

Meanwhile at school

Now before I hear about all the kind things, you've done for one another, Miss Level has An announcement. Elizabeth said

Hello, children. Because it is kindness week, I have volunteered to do Is selfish act of kindness for all of you. Rosemary said

We're not going to do another play, are we? Robert said

Robert. Elizabeth said

Perhaps even better than a play. I am going to organize and dance for all of you. With decorations and refreshments I Music.(giggles) It's going to be simply ... (gasps)magical. Now ... well I'm vegan practicing after school and when I am done with you you all will know how to behave like perfect little ladies and gallant little gentleman Will see you after school. Rosemary said

In Hamilton My best friend Jill and I went to cotillion all the time. You have to have a live orchestra. Holly said

Well you don't have to have a live orchestra in order to have a wonderful time and make lots of new friends. Elizabeth said

It won't be in the same. Holly said

All right. Um, now, who has done an act of kindness that thing you would like to share with the class? Elizabeth said

I washed the dishes for my mom. Opal. Said

Very good, opal. Anyone else? Elizabeth said

I rescued a skunk! (Shuck hissing) you want to see? (Students screaming in panic and disgust) Robert said

Meanwhile in town

How long did the nurse say it'd take for your shoulder to get better? Clara said

Not too long a week or two maybe. John said

Are you going back to work at the Mercantile? Clara said

I'm not sure yet. All I know is,I want to make a lot of money, so I can find mine girl lots of nice things. John said

I am not your girl John. Clara said

Not yet. John said

Meanwhile at the school

I'm sorry you're sad and that the dance. Opal said

Would you just leave you alone? Holly said

Sometimes when I'm sad brownie cheers me up. Do you want to hold him? Opal said

Just go away! Holly said

(She throws brownie)

(Opal sniffling)

Here you go, opal. Why don't you take him inside and clean him up, okay? Holly Francisco, that was very rude. Elizabeth said

She wouldn't leave me alone. Holly said

She was just trying to be nice. Elizabeth said

I hate her. Holly said

You don't mean that. Elizabeth said

Yes, I do. I hate everyone here. Holly said

You don't hate anyone, and you will stay after school and wash the chalkboards. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at the sawmill

This is part of the broken cable that catch your foot. look at the edge. That didn't break because of wear and tear. It was cut. Bill said

So you're saying that this wasn't an accident? Lee said

And I also took a look at that axle that broken on your delivery wagon. There were scratch marks by the pens head like someone took a tool to loosen my crown wheel. Bill said

You don't think that was an accident either? Lee said

One in a suspicious incident I'd say it's hard luck, but two? No Sir, something's not right here. Bill said

Sabotage. Great. Lee said

Meanwhile at school

I am done with the chalkboard. Can I go now? Holly said

Not yet. I would like to talk to you. (Sighs) now I know how hard it must be starting at a new school. But I think it would be a lot easier if you try to make some friends. Elizabeth said

I don't even want to make any friends. I want to go back to Hamilton. Holly said

Holly... I felt just as you do when I first got here. I didn't have any friends. But then I learned that the people here are kind, and generous, and caring. You just need to give them a chance and before you know it home will be right here , in valley spring . Elizabeth said

No it wouldn't. Hamilton is my home and Jill is My best friend. Holly said

I have an idea. Why don't you write to Jill and then invite her to come visit? Then you could show her your new school in introduce her to everyone. Wouldn't That be nice? Elizabeth said

No. It won't. Because she'd hate it. just as much as I hate it. Holly said

Meanwhile in town

Oh! Penny for your thoughts. Rosemary said

Sorry, I guess I am a little distracted. Elizabeth said

Now Elizabeth. I know as a Schoolteacher, you have a lot of things on your mind, but well that frown is only going to add to the lines on your face and I'm sure you do not want to anymore of those then you already have. Rosemary said

It's kindness week, remember? Elizabeth said

Kindness doesn't mean that a person shouldn't be honest, and that I am here for you if you need any advice. Rosemary said

Actually I really could use some. Elizabeth said

I'm listening. Rosemary said

I have this new student at school, and she's having a very hard time adjusting to living here. I tried everything, but I can't seem to get through to her or help her make any friends. Elizabeth said

Hmm. Well, if you ask me and you did it's all about having her get to know the other children. Finding out what they have in common. Once you really know someone it makes it so much easier to make a real connection. Rosemary said

That makes a lot of sense. Elizabeth said

Well of course it does! Look at you and meet you for example. Once I got to know you well I realized I underneath your crusty exterior there really was a spark of personality. Rosemary said

That makes me feel so much better. Elizabeth said

(Laughs) you see? it works! Rosemary said

I am just so glad he is fever Gone Erin said

He should be fine but if he does run a temperature again, you'll have to have Mrs. Stanton wire for a doctor. Faith said

Won't you be here? Erin said

No I'll be on my way back to Lost Hills tomorrow. Faith said

You're in angel of mercy,Miss Cora.

That's true we're going to miss you. Abigail said

Oh miss you all as well. Faith said

Well we should go. Erin said

Erin are you all right? You still seem like you're worried. Abigail said

We found out Mr. Gowen is raising the rent on our land. He says he'll Invicta us if we don't pay. Erin said

How much time has he given you to come up with the extra rent? Abigail said

That's just it he wants by Monday. Erin said

Well that's no time at all. Abigail said

I honestly don't know what we're going to do. We don't have any where to go and there is no time to make arrangements. Erin said

I know Martin Gowen personally. let me talk to him. Abigail said

(Rip grumbles) (Door closes)

Sure are you used enough soap there, Corey? Jack said

He was pretty dirty has. He been chasing squirrels?

The only thing ripped chases these days is his food bowl. Why don't you take him outside and rinse him off? I'll be sure to tell miss thatcher that you've been very kind to rip, Patrick what can I do for you? Jack said

I know how much Faith reinspect see you, so I wanted to talk to you. Patrick said

Of course. Please have a seat. Now what's on your mind? Jack said

She's always been a spirited woman. Patrick said

Mmm-hmm. Jack said

But I'm afraid lately she's been overly... ... unreasonable. Patrick said

Unreasonable? How so? Jack said

I've indulged her desire to work as long as I could but now it's time for us to get married and start a family. Patrick said

And you want him to tell her I think it's a good idea? Jack said

From what I can tell she respects your opinion, and sometimes women need to be told what to do Patrick said

Actually I think that if Faith wants to continue being a nurse, she shouldn't have to choose. Jack said

She chose to marry me. Patrick said

I don't see why she can't do both. Jack said

It's just isn't possible. But I can see we don't see eye to eye on this, so I won't waste anymore of your time. Patrick said

Patrick... are you sure faith is going to be happy giving up what she loves to do? Jack said

I'm not sure she knows what will make her happy. Patrick said

And you do? Jack said

of course I do. Patrick said

Meanwhile at school

Are you sure you don't want to play you probably have more in common with your classmates then you think take Corey, for instance he's new to you and he didn't have any friends when he first got here either his best friend was his sister Bridgett. Elizabeth said

What happened to her? Holly said

Oh she got sick so she's in lost Hills getting better now. But I bet he misses her very very much just like you miss your friend. Elizabeth said

It's not the same. Holly said

No, He wouldn't take the place of your friend, Jill, and he didn't grow up in a Big fancy house in Hamilton, but he could really use someone to look up to, Someone to be his big sister. it took him a while to make friends, Holly, but he did, and if you try, and you're kind, you will, too. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at the sawmill

Look, I don't want to jump to conclusions, fellas, but Jack and Bill have been looking into the little accidents we've been having around here lately, and they think that they might be sabotage. Lee said

Sabotage? Hickman said

How about you Wesley, you've worked at a bunch of mills. You ever see anything like this before? Lee said

There hasn't been a shop I've worked where men didn't get hurt it comes with the territory. Wesley Said

But it is pretty coincidental the way all the wagons broke down at once, and the saw as well. Hickman said

Yeah, Hickman's got a point. Just to be safe I'd Dumbo security. Wesley Said

Good idea. Lee said

Meanwhile at the schoolhouse (Music is playing)

Now, as the music begins, the gentlemen will cross the floor and ask for Lady's hand. Do I need to speak louder? Rosemary said

You may have to demonstrate. Elizabeth said

Oh good idea. I'll need a volunteer. Rosemary said

Ma'am I have... Rosemary whispered (to Corey for she had chosen him for the volunteer)

May I have this dance? Corey said

No. Holly said

Excuse me? Did you just say, "No"? Rosemary said

I don't want to dance. Not with him, not with anyone else. Holly said

(Music stops)

Corey, I would love it if you would save me the first dance on Saturday. Holly, that isn't the way to behave at a dance, or anywhere else for that matter. Elizabeth said

Just leave me alone. Holly said

Listen to me. If you keep treating people badly no one is going to want to be your friend. Elizabeth said

Good because I don't want any. Holly said

Meanwhile in town

Mr. Gowen? We need to speak with you. Abigail said

Judging by your tone, I'm thinking I'm not going to enjoy this conversation. Martin said

Probably not. Jack said

You can't raise the rent on this settlement tenants on such short notice. Abigail said

Actually, I can. They're not on the leases they're on handshake deals. Martin said

Are you that heartless that you would've forced those poor people out? Abigail said

Well heart does not come into business decisions, with Mrs. Stanton. If those people cannot afford their rent then they've got to make way for those who can, and they're wise I would evict them. Martin said

No, you won't evection is legal process. Now you may be in the mayor of Valley Spring but you're not the law. I am. You show me a Valid court order, and I'll enforce it. Jack said

That evening at holly's house

I knew Holly's been unhappy since we moved here, but I didn't know there was problems with the other children at school I am so sorry. Holly's mother Crystal said

I think they'll be all right. It's really holly I'm worried about. She doesn't seem to want to make any friends. Elizabeth said

I know the move was hard on her. Crystal said

She talks a lot about how much she misses the beautiful home you had, turn on the fancy parties and dances. Elizabeth said

Did Holly tell you we were rich? Crystal said

Not in so many words. Elizabeth said

It is true we lived in an beautiful home but it wasn't ours. Crystal said

It wasn't? Elizabeth said

I worked for a judge's family. I was governesses to their daughter, Jill. Crystal said

Holly's best friend. Elizabeth said

Those two girls were like two peas in a pod. But when my services were no longer needed, we had to leave. Crystal said

I was thinking... it might make holly feel better if Jill could come for a visit. Elizabeth said

Miss Thatcher... holly hasn't told you. Crystal said

Told me what? Elizabeth said

Jill died. Crystal said

Meanwhile at the café

I had no idea you could cook. Dottie said

Well I am a man of many talents. Bill said

Mmm. Dottie said

A toast... (as your glasses lightly clank to gather) ...to a Beautiful lady on her special day. Bill said

I am at a disadvantage. Dottie said

How's that? Bill said

If you have ways of getting information that I don't. Dottie said

What kind of information are you interested in obtaining? Bill said

First of all, i'd like to know how someone as independent as you whatever ever become a officer in the first place. Dottie said

There are a lot of bad people, who pray on good people, and not enough lawn man to catch them. Bill said

Then why did you leave? Dottie said

I learned that you cannot always solve a problem by taking a straight path. So is that enough information for you? Bill said

For now. Dottie said

Good (Charles) if you'll excuse me I have a couple steaks that mean seasoning. (Laughs) bill said

I've never had a man cook for me before. Dottie said

Well there's a first time for a lot of things. Bill said

Meanwhile at Elizabeth's

I feel so bad for holly, pretending she doesn't need anyone to cover up how much she's hurting inside. Elizabeth said

You know, sometimes, I think you have the patience of a saint. Jack said

Children are like puzzles. (Sighs) sometimes you have to work really hard to put the pieces together. It's always worth it especially for someone holly. And challenges now I'm getting her pass a baby so she can open up again. Elizabeth said

I Believe that you are going to make a very good mom one day. Jack said

Because I like puzzles? Elizabeth

Yeah. B but most importantly because you make great shepherd's pie. Jack said

(Both laughing)

Okay. Elizabeth

So... jack said

So? Elizabeth said

Isn't this where you're supposed to tell me I'm going to make a great dad one day? Jack said

I don't know if that's true Elizabeth said

Oh, you don't? Jack said

I've never tried your shepherd's pie. Elizabeth said

(Laughing)

Meanwhile in town

Tell me something, Bill. It sounds like a lot of chapters in your life are coming to an end. Dottie said

Meaning? Bill said

Well the Mounties and Nora... what about Abigail? Dottie said

We're Business partners. Bill said

I don't know but you said so yourself you're a man who doesn't like to take the straight path to get what he wants which some might say it makes you a bit dangerous. Dottie said

Unpredictability, maybe, but not dangerous. Bill said

Even when it comes to matters of the heart? Dottie said

(I was bill kisses her) You decide. Bill said

Next afternoon

Why aren't the boys here? Emily said

Are we in trouble? Laura said

No you're not in trouble and the boys aren't here because this is a special meaning just for girls so I asked your parents to bring you here because I wanted to talk to you in private about Holly. Elizabeth said

He hates us. ruby said

Actually, I think she's Jealous of you. You all have each other you've, made friends here. but Holly is new, and she doesn't have anyone. Elizabeth said

That's because she's mean. Opal said

I know this maybe hard for you to understand, but holly Lost a friend and she was very close to, and now she's not sure she can trust anyone to be her friend anymore. Who here has lost something close to them? Elizabeth said

I had a dog that ran away. I cried for a long time. Ruby said

I found my last brownie ones. It made me really sad opal said

If you can just remember that feeling, that you know what Holly must be feeling now. Elizabeth said

Maybe there's a way to make her feel better. Laura said

I was hoping you'd say that. Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at the saloon

Patrick's not backing down. Hey says I have to go back to lost Hills with him or our engagement's off Faith said

How do you feel about that? Jack said

I'm not I love Patrick, oh of course but I don't think he's being fair. Faith said

Patrick wants what he wants. Jack said

What if it's not what I want? Faith said

Wouldn't you rather know now then find out later? Jack said

I guess we should have talked those things over before we got engaged. Faith said

Well it's better late than never. Jack said

But I made a promise to him, Jack, and a promise is a promise. Faith said

Not if that promises going to make you unhappy for the rest of your life. Jack said

I thought love was supposed to conquer all. Faith said

It does. If it's real love. Jack said

Meanwhile at the cafe

Why are we here? Holly said

It's a surprise . Elizabeth said

I don't like surprises. Holly said

All right. Some of the girls from school have gotten together to make a little welcome party for you. They're waiting for you in the parlor. Elizabeth said

I'm not going. Holly said

Holly, please? They're trying so hard and they're just wanting to be your friend. Elizabeth said

I have Jill. She's the only friend I need. Holly said

Holly please set down. Holly, I have talked to your mother, And I know about what happened to Julie and I know about what happened to Jill. I'm so sorry. Elizabeth said

Jill's my best friend. She'll will always be in my best friend. Holly said

I Know. And you'll never forget how special she was. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't have other friends. Elizabeth said

But what if something were to happen to them? Holly said

Oh. Honey, you can't be afraid to open your heart again. I know it hurts, but it's going to hurt for a very long time but Jill would want you to make new friends. She wouldn't want you to be sad. That's not what being a best friend is all about. Elizabeth said

I miss her so much holly said

I know you do. But you're going to have to let go of her just a little bit. Elizabeth said

It's too late I've been so mean nobody will ever want to be my friend. Holly said

Holly, we treat people with kindness here remember that? And we believe in second chances. Elizabeth said

Even for someone like me? Holly said

Especially for someone like you? Now are you ready to go see the other girls? Elizabeth said

Meanwhile at lee office

So,one of my man I thought he smelled smoke, And that's when he saw the revolving steam feeder on fire. Lee said

Too many accidents for them all to be accidents bill said

I think someone's trying to put you out of business, lee. Jack said

So arson, huh? Lee said

Seems like it to me. Bill said

Should I be filing a police report then? Lee said

We don't even have a suspect yet. Once we open an investigation we risk tipping off the inside man. Now I don't know about you, but I want to catch him first, so let's keep this quiet. Jack said.

All right.

Meanwhile at stage coach

It'll be good to get home Patrick said

Patrick... I'm not going with you. Faith said

You're ... not going? Patrick said

Not right now at least. They need me here I can't leave. Faith said

If you don't know what you're saying. Patrick said

Actually I do. Faith said

If you don't get on this coach, our engagement is over. Patrick said

If that's the way you feel then that's your decision not mine. Faith said

You'll regret this. Patrick said

Maybe but I have to find out for myself. Faith said

(As the stage coach leaves) and it turns afternoon into evening

(Knock on Door) at the café

Who tied your tie? Frank said

Me. Corey said

Well, you did a pretty good job with it. Let me just, uh... ... fix it up a little bit for you. Good Frank said

Oh! Well, I didn't think it was possible, but now you're even more handsome. Abigail said

Mmm-hmm. Rosemary, we may not always have been the best of friends, but I think what you're doing for the children is really amazing. Elizabeth said

Oh, that's so sweet of you, really (chuckles awkwardly) I don't know what to say. Rosemary said

You don't have to say anything. Elizabeth said

Perhaps I could return the compliment with a macaroni necklace? Rosemary said

Oh, no, that's much too generous. Elizabeth said

Oh, girls, don't you look exquisite. Rosemary said

I lent Anna one of my party dresses for kindness week. Holly said

That's wonderful. Elizabeth said

Bye. Holly and Anna said

Elizabeth Letcher, I don't know how you did it, but you worked a miracle with that little girl. Rosemary said

She did the hard work herself. Elizabeth said

What happened? Rosemary said

She opened her heart. Elizabeth said

(Footsteps approaching) (Door opens and closes)

Well, I think we should all get started. (Waltz music playing ) Rosemary said

Maybe I have this dance? Corey said

I would be delighted. Elizabeth said

I was hoping you would save the first dance for me holly said

You want to dance with me? Corey said

If that's okay with miss thatcher. Holly said

It's more than okay. (Sighs) Elizabeth said

Well, it looks like you've been stood up. Jack said

Hmm. I have Elizabeth said

I don't know but Jack's is sweet on her. Tanner said
