It had been two days since I arrived. Carter was able to eat more, but I had to hold him up on the toilet when he had to use the bathroom. Sadie thankfully, came off the ventilator once the librarian, Cleo found an energy spell.

Sadie now rested in her room, but she couldn't even move around much due to fatigue. BAG called the morning she was taken off, and I was able to get Jas to write a doctor's note, saying she had a rare sickness that was making it hard to move.

Thankfully the school bought it. And the other kids brought her schoolwork home for her. Carter had been planning to enroll himself in an online school. I had found it, and was planning to propose it to him before Apophis attacked.

(authors note: I wanted to show off the fact that I use online school, so I put this bit in. It totally felt like something Carter would do.)

I had just eaten dinner, when I took up Carter's plate. Carter had to be shaken awake, but I managed to get him to eat more, and take a sip of some energy potion that Jas was able to cook up after studying the spell that gave Sadie some energy.

I helped him get out of bed, and ran a bath while he just used the bathroom, as he needed one about now. I helped him get up, and got his clothes off of him, and placed him in the tub. Gods of Egypt, Carter was so scrawny and weak, it was kinda alarming.

I helped him scrub up, and washed his hair too, which had grown out plenty since December.

After I pulled him out of the tub, I dried him off as if he was fragile, which he honestly felt like he was.

"Uncle Amos," Carter said, "thanks for taking care of me."

"No problem. Zia is pretty sick from Apophis still. And you need the rest." I said.

I picked up Carter, cradling him like he was an infant. I remembered how cute he had been back then. And how much his birth made me want children.

It was a sunny day in June. I was eating a sandwich I had made when I got a call via scrying bowl. It was Julius.

"Amos! Ruby just had the baby! It's a boy!"

"Oh my gods, REALLY!? I'm coming now."

I ran and opened a portal, pulling my present out of the Duat. Amanda had insisted on delivering the baby, so baby Carter was in Gracewood birthing hospital. Amanda was one of the best hospital chain heads ever.

I ran in, and saw Ruby fast asleep. Julius smiled when he saw me, and took me to see Carter. He was in the bassinet beside Ruby's bed. I was allowed to hold him.

Little Carter was wrapped in a cloth Amanda claimed was the blanket from my birth. I always thought she was joking until my mom backed her up.

His little hand gripped my finger, and I almost squealed with joy.

When I left, I swore upon my secret name I would forever try to protect him.

I put him back in bed after placing some clothes on his body. He was quick to nod off. I closed the door, trying to hide my tears. I couldn't have children. I was an infertile man, and no women caught my eye in my near hundred years of life, except one: Carmen Sandiego, daughter of Athena, descendant of Hatsheput.

Her long, reddish black hair, her grey eyes, and her Argentinean skin, all of that I clearly remembered. She was a crossed blood, and I had dated her one summer when I was fifteen. Of course, my dad spoiled my pleasure and told Iskander, whom forced us to separate. I often wondered if I could ever see her again.

I went to check on Sadie. Sadie was sleeping on her side, her hair probably re dyed by Walt, and she now sported brown highlights, or lowlights, I don't know them very well. I gently put an extra shirt on her, as ahe was shivering, and left the room.

I went back to my room, and locked the door. I silently cried. My wish for children would never be answered in my life, and I knew it. Nor would I ever see Carmen Sandiego again. Recently I heard she was working with some teens to stop some rebels from her pantheon from causing trouble for anyone.

I then pulled myself into bed. I began to pray for my wish to come true, until I fell asleep.
