Are You Alright?
"No one's too good or too evil."
Day 2. 05:51 PM.
Raph and Mikey followed Sophie down a hallway. As usual, two guards were following them. Mikey could feel his heart beating faster. His nerves were killing him. He looked at Raph, who could barely walk. Raph looked at him too and gave him a small smile.
"Calm down." He said. "Everything will be fine. I'll protect you if this sons-of-a-bitches try to hurt you."
Mikey smiled at him, then looked back to the front. They gave a couple of turns more around the large, white hallways, until Sophie finally told them to stop in some kind of waiting room. The guards took off the handcuffs that the turtles had, which was odd for them.
"You can wait outside, thanks." Sophie told the two guards, who obeyed and stepped outside of the room.
Once she was alone with the turtles, she started talking.
"Okay, just between us, I'll let you make two decisions. First of all, the two of you will have different tests, do you want them to be performed at the same room, or would you want to go into a different room each?"
"Same room, please." Mikey begged.
"So I thought. Number two, one of the tests involves some discomfort. Originally, the test was scheduled for Michelangelo. Would you like to switch tests?"
Mikey didn't said a thing, just looked at Raph.
"Fine." Raph smiled, making Mikey to feel a strong relief.
"Now, before you guys get inside, how are you doing Raphael?" Sophie asked with concern.
"I'm perfectly fine! I swear the next person who asks me if I'm alright, I'm going to start throwing punches!" Raph yelled angrily.
"Okay… good to know." Sophie murmured. "So, the tests will be at this room." She said opening a door.
"Thanks for letting us choose." Mikey said before entering.
Sophie gave him a small smile before the door was closed.
Both of them examined the room. It had one stretcher and lots of medical equipment. There was a doctor standing beside the stretcher. He was blonde, had a beard and dark eyes, also probably older than 40. The turtles noted that there wasn't a guard with him, which was weird. Raph thought about attacking, but he felt too weak to take the risk.
"Aren't you the doctor who connected those strange cables to my head like an hour ago?" Mikey asked.
"Yes, Michelangelo, and you must be Raphael. I'm Dr. McKinney. So, which of you is going to be first?"
"What are you going to do to us?" Raph asked weakly.
"Well, they told me to switch the tests, so Michelangelo will be having an electrocardiogram and you will be having an electromyogram. Michelangelo's test is way faster than yours, so we can start with him if you would like to."
"Mikey?" Raph asked him. Mikey just nodded, not looking so convinced.
"Okay, please lie down on the stretcher. Raphael, you can sit down on that chair on the corner."
As Raph walked slowly to sit down, Mikey did as told too, as Dr. McKinney started to take out the stuff he needed.
"So, what is this for, again?" He asked nervously.
"This will help us to check your heart beats."
"Will it hurt?" Mikey questioned.
"No, not a bit." Dr. McKinney responded as he moved his chair near the stretcher. "I'm going to need you to hold still and to move the less you can okay? Relax."
With that said, Dr. McKinney started to paste patches in Mikey's body. One on each arm, one on each leg and a few more on his chest. After that he connected a cable to each of the patches. Then he gave some clicks on the computer that he had next to the stretcher and Raph could see that he printed some sheets. After less than ten minutes, Dr. McKinney talked once more.
"Okay Michelangelo, you're good to go. Wasn't bad, was it?"
"Was that it? Oh god, that's such a relief." Mikey sighted as he stood up.
"Raphael, your turn. Before I do anything, are you alright? You seem to be feeling very weak."
Raph took a deep breath before talking. He was sick of people asking him that, but he didn't wanted to explode like he did with Sophie.
"I have no idea. They gave me a shot earlier. Maybe the medicine…"
Dr. McKinney stayed thinking for a second, then he decided to stop thinking about that and to start with the test.
"Anyway, this test will measure the reactions to your muscles to certain stimuli. We'll do it on your arm first, next in your leg, okay?"
"What if I don't want to. I have no handcuffs on and I could take you down if I wanted to. There's no guard on this room."
"Listen, I told them to leave us alone and to leave you without handcuffs because I would like to trust you. I´m going to tell you something, I'm against of what this people is doing to you, but they offered me a very good amount money and I really need it. Believe me that if I had a choice, I wouldn't even be here. The deal here is that if you help me by behaving well, I'll help you if you need help, but we'll have to respect the deal. Agree?" Dr. McKinney asked as he offered his hand to Raph, who looked at Mikey before doing anything. He thought about him. Dr. McKinney could help them get out.
"How do I know that this isn't bullshit?"
"I guess you'll just have to trust me on this one."
Raph thought about it for some seconds. Finally, he gave him the hand. Dr. McKinney smiled. It was a sincere smile, even Raph could see it.
"Good, now please, lie down."
Raph nodded as Dr. McKinney grabbed his right hand and starting to find his nerves. He then pasted three patches on his hand, one on each nerve. Then, he grabbed a thing that looked as a stick with buttons on it and had two different metal endings.
"So, this thing will send very little electricity to your arm. I'll do it on various places. Maybe you'll feel some discomfort but believe me, it's totally tolerable so, as I told your brother, relax your arm and don't move, okay?"
"Okay, I guess I can deal with this. It's not like these fucking bodyguards haven't shocked me before."
"I like your spirit." Dr. McKinney laughed.
Then, he placed the two metal endings on his lower arm as he pushed the button. As soon as he did that, Raph flinched and let out a small scream.
"Did it hurt?" Dr. McKinney asked as he pushed away the stick.
"No, it just took me by surprise."
"Just hold still for me okay. A couple more of shocks and we'll be done with your arm."
As Dr. McKinney promised, after three more shocks he was done. He took off the patches and placed them in his foot now. He then started to give the small shocks to his leg. After some minutes, Dr. McKinney was done. He took off the patches once more.
"I'm done, you're free for today." Dr. McKinney said as he started to pick up and keep all of his things.
"Finally." As Raph said that, he turned around to see Mikey, who was sitting on the chair, watching him with a terrified look. Raph laughed.
"Mikey I'm fine. It wasn't as bad as it seemed."
"Good to hear that." He said as he stood up too.
"So, can we leave now?" Raph asked as he walked to the door weakly.
"Sure. I hope you feel better tomorrow Raphael and I also hope that the reason why you feel this was is because the shot they gave you earlier."
"Uh… thanks."
"You can count on me if you guys need something. Good luck."
"Thanks doctor." Mikey smiled.
With that said, they stepped outside and closed the room. They found Sophie waiting for them at the waiting room.
"How did it went?"
"What do you care?" Raph answered rudely.
Sophie just rolled her eyes as the guards entered to the waiting room to get them on handcuffs once again.
"Follow me. We'll go to get your brothers for the last tests of the day."
