Bad Memory
"Some nights are made for torture."
Day 4. 02:16 AM.
It had seemed an eternity. Darren had told him that he would check on him on 30 minutes, but he felt that he had been inside of the freezer for more than an hour. The first minutes inside, all that Donnie could feel was very intense pain. Everything hurt, but what hurt the most, was the bullet hole that he had on the back of his upper left leg. He could feel the cold water that Darron had poured on him beginning to turn to ice, and that made him start to panic. He was tied up and he couldn't get out of there. After the extreme pain, he started to feel numbness on his limbs. He couldn't feel the pain anymore, but he couldn't feel or move his limbs either. Some minutes after this happened, he started feeling sleepy.
"Don't fall asleep, Donatello." He kept telling to himself. "If you fall asleep, you will probably die and you won't be able to save your brothers." He murmured.
He had been talking to himself for some minutes now. He had to stay awake. He knew that it was very common when freezing to death to start feeling sleepy after the nerves freeze.
"Stay awake, Donnie. Stay awake."
His eyelids were feeling heavy, but he was going to fight them. After some minutes, he had a thought.
'Maybe I can close my eyes. Just for a minute.'
Donnie did. It felt so good to stop fighting, at least for a little while. Suddenly, he heard something.
"Hey, look! What do you think they keep here?" He knew that voice. That was Mikey.
"We'll it's a freezer so, probably things that need to be cold." That was Raph's voice.
Donnie opened his eyes.
"Let's get inside! Maybe we find something useful!"
Were those really his brothers or was he hallucinating?
"Mikey just concentrate, okay?" That was Leo.
Were really his three brothers outside of the freezer? Had they really escaped? Were they about to open the freezer?
"Alright, do what you want. I'll just take a peek inside and if I find something useful it will be mine."
"Mikey!" Donnie tried to scream as loud as he could.
"What the hell are you doing here, freaks?" Was the next thing he heard. That was Darron's voice.
"No! No…" Donnie tried to shout as he did his best to move, but he felt very stiff.
After some seconds of no sound, he heard Darron's voice once more.
"I've got the turtles."
"No!" Donnie cried.
He then saw the door from the freezer opening. Darron entered the freezer.
"Woah! It's really cold here, isn't it?"
"W-where are my b-brothers?" He asked, shivering.
"It's a really funny story I was just about to tell you. You see, I was coming to get you out of the freezer when I find your three brothers about to open it. Don't worry, they're all sleeping now and in no time, they will be back in the lab so that we can continue experimenting on them."
"P-please Darron. Let them go. You can k-keep me instead." Donnie begged.
"Why let them go when we can keep the four of you. They made a big mistake trying to escape and not making it out." Darron said, pulling the chair, where Donnie was tied up, outside of the freezer.
Donnie felt the warm temperature as he got outside. It felt so good, but that feeling was ripped away from him as he saw his three brothers lying on the floor, unconscious.
"Guys! Guys wake up!" He cried.
Suddenly, he saw Leo trying to move. He was still awake.
"Donnie?" Leo murmured weakly and, as he wasted his last bit of strength, Darron left Donnie apart and quickly kicked Leo on the head, which crashed hardly against the floor, making Leo finally go unconscious.
"No!" Donnie yelled as he saw his brother pass out.
"All done, now I can really say that all of them are sleeping."
"You, monster!" Donnie cried.
"Are you really calling me a monster now? You have no idea; I haven't even started with you." Darron said as he started pulling the chair to the cellar room Donnie was before entering the freezer. "And don't worry about your brothers, they'll come and get them soon."
Donnie kept screaming and tried to fight, but he was just too weak. They arrived to the cellar room and, even though Donnie knew he was probably about to be tortured, he couldn't help but keep thinking about his brothers. How had they escaped? What was going to happen to them now? Will they be alright? Suddenly, Darron interrupted his thoughts.
"Alright turtle, now that you spend…" Darron paused as he checked his clock. "42 minutes straight at the freezer, can you now answer my question?"
"W-what question?" Donnie stuttered.
"How the hell were you created?"
Donnie sighted before answering, gaining courage for what was there to come.
"I told you, I don't know." He murmured.
"You really have a bad memory, don't you? Luckily, as I told you before, I have some toys that will help you remember. Do you wanna try them?"
"Darron, you can try anything you want, but you won't get an answer from me because I really don't know." Donnie exclaimed as he felt his pulse accelerating.
"Well, let's find out then." Darron answered, getting out his taser. "Let's start with something light. I believe you have been electrocuted before, but believe me, not like this. You see, this taser has a power of 60 milliamps. I'm sure that you're a smart turtle and that you know what kind of damage can this taser do to you, so, before we start, are you sure that you don't know how you were made?"
Donnie hesitated before answering.
"Yes, I'm sure."
Before he imagined it, he felt a strong shock on the back of his neck. He felt the electricity invading fis body from his head to his spinal cord, losing control of his whole body. Donnie couldn't even scream. After some seconds that felt eternal to Donnie, Darron stopped electrocuting him.
"Now, is an answer coming to your mind or shall we try again?"
Donnie recovered from the shock. He still felt the back of his neck burning.
"No, I don't know how we were created." He babbled.
As Donnie spoke, Darron took out his baton from his belt and hit Donnie on his head, who could just let out a small whimper and felt how one part of his cheekbone cracked on one side and how his neck bended to the other side.
Donnie spitted some blood and before he could even lift up his head, once again he felt a strong shock and electricity taking control of his muscles, but this time, Darron shocked him on his plastron. After some seconds, he finally stopped.
"Are you ready to talk now?"
Donnie was still recovering from the shock when he received another one on his left arm. Then, Darron started hitting his arms and legs, including where he had the bullet hole in his leg. Donnie kept screaming with every hit he got.
"Look turtle. You escaped your room, you broke into Dr. Olson's office and you found out what we're planning to do with you turtles here at the lab. That means that you're not stupid. I'm electrocuting you with a very high voltage and, besides the muscle damage that you may have now, you can die from this. We really don't mind killing you. We have other three turtles that we can feast on and torture until one of them tells us what we want to hear. Maybe if you die here, we can now question your brother in orange, I think you call him Mikey. I bet that freak will talk before I even shock him, right?"
It was hard for Donnie to talk. He felt too weak now. He had lost lots of blood, he was almost induced to hypothermia, he could barely move his muscles and besides, everything hurt. Listening to what Darron was saying made his fear even bigger. At this point, he wasn't really scared of dying, but thinking about his brother's faith was killing him. He didn't wanted them to suffer like he was suffering.
"I will ask you this one more time. How were you made?" Darron asked, placing the taser on top of the bullet hole he had in his leg.
Donnie didn't talked. He just breathed heavily and lowered his head, getting ready for the shock.
"You don't want to talk? Fine then. Let's find out how long does it takes to fry a turtle."
With that said, Darron pressed the taser button. Electricity took control of Donnie, who felt how every single muscle tissue on his body started burning. Seconds had passed and Darron wasn't stopping. Seconds later, Donnie stopped feeling all the pain and moments after, everything went black.
Day 4. 12:32 PM.
He felt pain all over his body. The pain started increasing and increasing, until he opened his eyes. He regained consciousness, even though he felt weak. He saw his surroundings and a feeling of crying took control of him. He was still in the cellar. He was still alive, if you could call that alive.
"Wakey wakey, turtle." Darron talked as he pulled a needle away from his arm.
"What… What did you injected me?" Donnie managed to talk weakly.
"Just something to wake you up. You lost consciousness and slept all night. Now it's daytime and I want to have some fun, don't you want that too?"
Donnie sighted with frustration. He just wanted to get out of there and find his brothers but, apparently, that was too much to ask for.
"I brought new toys to play with you, unless you're tired of playing and ready to answer my question. Are you?"
Donnie was still looking towards the floor. It was hard to even lift up his head. He was too weak and every time he tried to move a muscle, an intense wave of pain appeared on his body.
"Answer me!" Darron shouted, giving Donnie a strong slap on his left cheek, sending him a strong pain all over his face.
"I told you, I don't know how we were created." Donnie tried to talk, doing his best to pronounce the words. The pain in his face made it very difficult to talk.
"Alright. That means that we get to keep playing."
Darron went outside of the room and, seconds later, he entered once again with a bucket with water and a cloth.
"Today we get to play a different game. It's called waterboarding. Have you heard about it?"
Donnie lift up his head and gave Darron a weak look with his eyes full of hate.
"I'll take that as a no. Well, this is one of my favorite games to play, only if I'm the one in charge of torturing, of course. I would be very scared if I was in your place, but luckly, I'm not. I'll tell you how it's done. To play this game, you just need a cloth, some water and someone to torture. Now, I'm going to put this cloth covering all your disguting face. Then, I'm going to take this bucket of water and I'll start pouring it slowly on the cloth that's on your face. Waterboarding is famous for inducing the feeling of drowning. Every five seconds, I'll stop pouring water and I'll ask you the same question that I've been asking you for almost twelve hours straight. If you know the answer, the game it's over, but if you don't, we'll just continue until you answer the question. Are you ready to start playing?"
Fear started taking all over Donnie. He just wanted to answer his question and end that torture, but he knew that if he did that, those people would probably kill him and his brothers and dedicate to find mutagen. If they could find the mutagen, those people would start making new mutants and selling them for other people to torture and experiment. If he had to sacrifice himself to save his brothers and stop that lab from making more mutants, he would.
"Okay, let's start the game."
Darron then, covered Donnie's face with the cloth and knotted it on the back of his head. He pulled the strings of Donnie's bandana so that his face was looking to the ceiling. Donnie's heart started acceletating more and more until he heard Darron's voice once more.
"I hope that you know the answer to my question after this."
Donnie then, felt the water pouring into the cloth covering his face. He felt it getting inside of his throat. He tried to cough, but he couldn't. More water kept coming. Donnie felt the desperation invading him. Even though he tried to move and make it stop, he was tied up to a chair and he couldn't do a thing. He felt his nose and throat burning up, his head felt like it was going to explode. He was going to drown.
After some seconds, when he couldn't handle it no more, Darron stopped pouring water and took the cloth away from his face. Immediately, Donnie lifted up his head and started coughing water.
"Now, where do you come from? How where you made?"
Donnie kept coughing. Even though the cloth wasn't on his face anymore, he still couldn't breathe right. He couldn't speak because he still felt some water in his throat.
"You still can't remember?"
Donnie wanted to talk, but he was still coughing. He didn't wanted Darron to waterboard him again. Before he could do anything to respond, Darron did.
"Let's try again." He said placing the cloth on Donnie's face once more and lifting his head up, looking to the ceiling.
"No!" Donnie tried to yell with a choky voice.
The next thing he felt was more water being poured on the cloth and coming inside of his nostrils and his throath. He felt his lungs burning up once more and he started moving brutally so that Darron would stop.
After some seconds, he did. Darron pulled away the cloth from Donnie's face once more, who again, started coughing water.
"Do you want me to do it again?" Darron asked.
"No! Stop!" He coughed.
"Then, do you have an answer for me?"
Donnie doubted it. His instinct was telling him to talk. He couldn't stand being waterboarded once more. He was about to drown.
"No? Are you seriously up for another round?" Darron said, taking the cloth once more.
"No! Wait! I'll tell you all I know!" He yelled.
"Alright, then talk."
Donnie sighted. He was obviously not going to tell him everything. Just enough information to have a moment to breathe.
"I don't know exactly how we were made. My brothers and I lived in the sewers because we've been like this since we were baibies and we've always have to hide away from people. I know some things about sience, but not enough to know how we were made."
"That's all you know?" Darron asked.
"I'm sorry, but I don't know anything else." Donnie talked, breathing deeply for what was there to come next.
"You know what I think? I think that you're lying." Darron said, walking to Donnie and placing the cloth on his face once more and pulling up his head.
Donnie's heart accelerated as he breathed heavily, waiting for the water to come again. Suddenly, he heard something. Darron's phone started ringing. He felt Darron letting go his bandana to answer the phone. Donnie pulled his head down, making the cloth fall to his legs.
"Hello?... Fine, I'll be right there."
Donnie was still trying to control his breathing when he heard Darron's conversation. He was finally going to leave.
"I'm sorry freak, they need me somewhere else. I'll give you some time to think about how can we make more of you. In the meantime, I'll leave you with some melodies so that you can relax and reflect."
Darron took the cloth up from his legs and folded it. He covered Donnie's eyes with it and knotted it on the back of his head. Donnie couldn't see anything now.
He heard Darron's footsteps walking away, until he couldn't hear them no more. He was left alone in complete silence. He started to control his breathing. He was safe now but still, he felt an intense fear. Some seconds after, he was almost convinced that, at least for now, he was going to be left alone.
Suddenly, something broke his calmness. A strong sound started playing in the cellar out of knowhere. The sound made Donnie scream with fear and made his pulse accelerate once more. The sound was horrible and made him shiver. It sounded like a chainsaw sawing something, followed by clenching sounds and something that sounded like screams. The volume was so terribly high that Donnie could feel the floor shake with the sound.
His pulse started accelerating once more. He was frustrated and now, he was also angry. He wanted to get out of there. Why would a man torture someone that way? Why was this happening to him? It was so unfair and the noise was unbareable. He couldn't leave the room, he couldn't make the music stop, he couldn't even cover his ears or see his anything else but darkness. All he could do was scream and so he did.
Day 4. 08:17 PM.
Hours had passed and the same horrific music kept playing with the highest volume. Donnie was tired now. Everything hurt and his ears couldn't stand it anymore. At some point and after some hours, he decided that he needed to calm down. He was left alone. He could use that time to escape instead of concentrating in that horrible noises that were driving him crazy. He thought about ways to get out of there. All he could think of was trying to free at least one of his hands so that then, he could free his whole body.
For the last five or six hours, Donnie had been trying to slip one of his hands out of the rope that was holding it down. With every time he tried to pull his hand out, a wave of pain invaded his arm. He knew that at least one part of his arm was probably broken thanks to the hits he had received with Darron's baton the day before, but that was his only hope. If he didn't got out of there, the extreme noise and the blindfolding was going to drive him crazy, just to be tortured to death by Darron. Donnie couldn't see how much he was missing to set himself free, but he could feel the rope on the half of his hand already.
Finally, some minutes later, he felt it. He pulled his hand back one more time to feel his hand free from the rope. Donnie stayed in shock for a moment. He couldn't believe it. He was free. His heart rate started accelerating as adrenaline took over him. He could really escape, he just had to avoid getting caught.
Quickly, he took the cloth away from his face and, once he was able to see, he started unknotting his other hand and finally, both of his feet. Then, he tried to stand up, just to be stopped by an intense wave of pain all over his body. He probably had more than one broken bone, he had an open bullet hole in one of his legs, he was covered in bruises and he was very weak. He fell to the floor, but without even thinking about it, he stood up. He had to fight for him and for his brothers.
Shaking and feeling pain in every single muscle of his body, he finally stood up and started limping outside of the room he was in. He had to find the stairs. After not much walking, he found a door with an evacuation route sign outside of it. That had to be the stairs.
Donnie limped as fast as he could and finally opened the door just to find the stairs. He sighted with relief. He wanted to cry, but first, he had to decide if he was going to go up or downstairs.
Hello, guys! Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a great year and I wish you that you can achieve all your goals this next year!
So, this chapter was very difficult to write because I actually did my research and looked for various torture methods and what did they felt like and I really hope that you liked the chapter.
Also, if you want to hear the horrific music that Donnie was listening for all those hours, I actually based the description of the music in this song (if you can call it that way) : watch?v=Tu684JTtB1w
I actually heard it while writting this chapter and believe me, it's horrible.
Again, I hope that you like the chapter because I really tried to make it one of the best ones! Now, I'm writting chapter 18 and I'm putting as much effort in it as in this chapter so, make sure that you don't forget to leave a review with your opinion because I really love reading them!
Happy New Year! Bye!
