Come What
May

He'd never heard her sing before. And maybe... No one was really supposed to.
"...to vanish inside your kiss. Everyday I love you more and more..."
Angelic was the word he longed to call it, but to describe her voice in such a way was like denying the darkness that lurked inside her. Raven was the Dark, and darkness would never be denied.
"Listen to my heart. Can you hear it sing? Telling me to give you everything."
Melodious. That's what her voice was. Melodious.
"Seasons may change, winter to spring." He waited with bated breath as she turned off the shower.
"But I'll love you." Her feet padded across the bathroom to where he knew the sink was.
"Until my dying day." Clinking sound came from where she was.
"Come what may." The sound of a bottle being opened seeped through the door.
"Come what may." Another sound came from the room, but he could not identify what it was.
"I will love you, until my dying day."
Wow, he thought, She's really good.
"Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place," she continued to sing.
"Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace. Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste." She capped the bottle and presumably put it back where she got it.
"It all revolves around you." Her feet padded against the floor once more.
"And there's no mountain too high," she sang in a higher pitch. "No river too wide. Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side. Storm clouds may gather, and stars may collide."
Holy shit! He cursed, surprised at the pitch of her voice. That was...Wow...
"But I'll love you...Until the end of time. Come what may," she sang, and a slight squeak on the floor made him think that she had twirled around on one foot.
"Come what may...I will love you, until my dying day. Oh, come what may..." Her voice went higher to match the rhythm of the song. "Come what may...I will love..."
He waited for the next line, but was surprised when the door hissed open to reveal the dark sorceress. "How long?" she growled, her eyes flaring an angry white color.
He gulped. "Since the first chorus," he said, wondering why his voice was so calm when deep inside he was panicking. She started walking toward him and he tried to stall her from inflicting her brand of pain onto his person. "Finish it," he said. It worked, and she paused as confusion settled itself in her eyes briefly, before it flickered away.
"No way," she snapped. "Not a chance in hell."
"Suddenly the world," he sang in his baritone voice, "Seems such a perfect place." She faltered in her steps. It was her turn to be surprised at his singing. "Please?" he asked her. "Just finish that line.
She released a sharp breath of air, shaking her head. "No way," she repeated, turning away from him.
"Why not?" he asked her, inwardly cringing. What the hell? Why am I still pursuing this?
She glanced back at him, as if contemplating something, but then lowered her head. "You wouldn't understand."
"Try me."
She barked out a laugh. "Please," she said, continuing down the hall, "Just leave it alone."
"Raven." She stopped in her tracks, just about to round the corner. "Your voice... it's beautiful. Melodious."
She looked back at him, but then walked on. He turned to leave as well, but paused at the sound of her voice. "Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place." He smiled, before walking away.
"Come what may..."
This is my first one-shot that does not involve sex in any way and is not in the M rating. Laughs. Tell me how I did.
