"I'll always be there for you."
A/N: We all need a Jaskier in our lives. Akela's about 16 in this one.
Summary: Jaskier comforts Akela after a nightmare.
"I'll always be there for you."
Akela swallowed back tears and relished in the feeling of Jaskier's arms around her. It was a cold night, and the breeze made her very aware of that as she shivered and the water on her cheeks froze, but Jaskier's warmth helped immensely, and she made use of it all by huddling against him as much as she could. Jaskier welcomed it.
"Was that too cheesy?" he asked after a pause, dipping his head a little to catch her gaze. Akela breathed a laugh through a residual sob, wiping at her nose.
"No," she told him. "Thanks, Jaskier."
Jaskier nodded. "Always. Nightmares are tough. Especially ones that leave you questioning reality, huh?"
Akela was silent. She'd woken ten minutes ago from a terrible nightmare, and its remnants still clung to the edges of her mind, no matter how much she tried pushing them away. The images were faintly playing out in her mind; Geralt leaving, Jaskier leaving, everyone leaving, and she was left alone...
"You'll never be alone," Jaskier said, as though he'd read her mind.
Again, Akela said nothing, but she didn't need to. Geralt had his back to them, completely wiped out, and she and Jaskier were awake under a clear sky, all the love and serenity surrounding them both.
