He was awake before his eyes were open, his body aching but feeling strangely at peace at the same time. He lay comfortably on his side, on a warm patch of grass, entangled in someone's arms.
He willed himself to be alert, but the strange sense of calm wouldn't leave him. And how could it, when he could feel strong, but gentle hands tracing circles over his back, cradling him almost... lovingly?
Lovingly? He shouldn't be able to tell that. He didn't feel. He couldn't know. He stirred, shook - accidentally - out of fear.
"Roxas...?"
"...Axel?" Roxas pushed himself up, stagnant arm muscles reawakening, taking up all his strength to lift him into an upright position.
Axel smiled down at him warmly, his face and fiery hair blocking the bright, fresh sun. "Good morning."
"Is this..." Roxas wanted to look around, but just propping himself up was a chore, "...the next life?"
Axel's smile grew wider, eyes closing in mirth, nodding slowly. "Found you."
