Tuesday

"Dad, why are the eggs from yesterday on the ceiling?"

Shinachiku stood next to me looking at the egg patty still on the ceiling. Arashi slept in my arms as I looked on.

"I thought it would come down on its own. Your sister really stuck it on there good..."

Kind of impressive actually.

"Well...you gotta get that off before Mom comes home."

"I know, Shina-chan...I know." he walked pasted me and grabbed his bag.

"I'm off."

I regret letting those eggs stick there. I really thought it would just fall! Now, the house smells like spoiled eggs. I hope Sakura-chan isn't still upset with me...

Tuesday was hellish. I almost forgot that Hanami has lungs of steel. She cried for two hours! I have never seen her act like this, over hair of all things! Shikamaru did say it looked terrible, but I'm not a hair guru! At least Shikamaru was there to help, without him...whew. I found out the hard way that my daughter cares a lot about her hair...

"Daddy" I felt a tug at my pants and looked down. my daughter gestured to her messy bed hair. "It's time to do my hair!"

"Do your hair? Uh sure, let me put your brother down and I'll get to it." I laid Arashi in his crib in his and Hanami's shared room and pulled his blanket over him. He looked so peaceful...

"Daddy!"

"I coming...!"

Hanami laid her hair tie, brush, and clips on the coffee table and sat at the bottom of the couch. "Ready?"

"Yes!" she replied with the cutest smile.

I smiled at her and sat on the couch. Her hair looked an absolute trainwreck It looked like it had multiple knots. She definitely took the wild sleeper characteristic from me...unfortunately.

"Let's see..." Sakura, how do you tame this beast every morning?

"Okay...? I think I'm finished! What do you think Hama-chan? I know it looks a little different than what Mom does but I think this-Hanami?"

"m-my..."

"Hanami..."

"MY HAIR"

"I'll answer it." Shikadai declared

Hello-"

"Shikamaru! You have to come over QUICK!"

"Dad, it's for you." He handed the phone to an annoyed Shikamaru.

"What did you do now...?"

"I was doing Hanami's hair and it was just a little different than what she's used to and she looked at it and the next thing I know she's screaming her head off for TWO HOURS STRAIGHT! She woke up Arashi with her screaming and now they're both screaming and you need to get over and help me before I LOSE IT! Please."

"...How troublesome."

I could barely hear the knocking at the door over the chaos and rushed over. "Shikamaru, thank goodness you're here!"

"Move." I moved aside and let him in. "Jesus Naruto, it hasn't even been a week! What the hell you've been doing?" He sniffed the air. "And why the hell it smells like eggs!?"

I pointed above him to the culprit. "She did it yesterday. I...meant to get it but..."

"Yeah, ok. Listen, Here's what we're going to do. You get Arashi and calm him down and I take care of her."

"Can you handle that?"

He looked at me with annoyance. "I'm not sure but if I keep hearing this noise..."

I nodded in agreement and embraced my youngest and cuddled with him. I told Shikamaru 'good luck' before closing the door to their room. It took forty-five minutes but I finally got him to calm down and go back to sleep. All that screaming surely must've tired him out. After I put him down, I noticed the screaming outside had stopped for a while. I cautiously stepped out of the room and crept around the corner into the living room. "Is it safe?"

"Until you mess up again, yes."

I looked over at my daughter standing on the couch looking at herself through the wall mirror. Her hair looked amazing. She had the ribbon Sakura used to wear when we were younger braided in between her hair into a ponytail. "How did you do it."

We sat at the dibber table, my eyes never leaving her. "You Ino, Chouji, and I used to watch Asuma and Kurenai's kid, Mirai, a lot and she would act like this if something wasn't done the way she wanted. You didn't do her hair like Sakura...clearly."

"Hey, I tried my best! It looked...easy."

"Well, you failed, miserably. Anyway..." He looked at me. "You need to ensure this never happens again because I don't want to keep coming back here and fixing your mess."

"Isn't that your job hehe... It was a joke."

"I will leave you."

"Okay okay. Are you going to teach me or what."

"How troublesome... Come on village idiot, let me show you how it's done." Shikamaru kneeled down before Hanami "Hanami, is it okay you let your Dad touch your hair? we're going to teach him how to do it right."

"Okay..." She got back on the floor and sat in front of me. "Promise you won't mess it up?"

I looked at her and smiled. "I'll try my best."

Mistakes were made, however, I learned from mine. Thanks to Shikamaru, I now know how to braid! (Who Knew Shikamaru to be a hair guru?)
