Well, there was a literal battle, where my sister's life was in danger, and one of my friends was fatally wounded. However, it's summer so I have a lot of time on my hands. Tala, Maria, and Siobhan had a whole lot of plans, but the battle I didn't witness was only yesterday, so I was just relaxing at home.
Then, there was a knock on the door around 10 am. I turned off the TV, Charlie looked up from his police paperwork. I opened it and Bella stood there, smiling for probably one of the first times in her life.
"Lizzy, will you be my maid of honor?" Bella asked me. In her hand was a silver ring made up of like seventy tiny diamonds. I was taken aback by the sudden question.
"What?" I asked. I couldn't take my eyes off of that ring.
"Edward proposed." Bella said, biting her lip and smiling slightly.
"Bella, you're eighteen!" I exclaimed.
"What's going on?" Charlie said, walking out of the kitchen to confront Bella. "You're not leaving again? Are you, Bells?" Bella lifted her unique engagement ring to Charlie's eye level and he gasped. "Oh my God, Bells."
"Dad, I'm going to be a maid of honor." I joked, although looking back I realize that wasn't the most appropriate response.
"Charlie, I'm eighteen, I can do what I want." Bella said, folding her arms. "Lizzy, Alice wants to talk to you to help plan the wedding." By now Charlie's face was blank and he scuttled out of the living room, trying to return to his paperwork.
Bella forced me out of the house, much to Charlie's chagrin, and drove me over to the Cullens' house. Alice ran out of the house, immediately grabbed Bella's hand, and yanked her into the house.
"Ok, so I have the most amazing vision for the wedding. Also, Lizzy, jealous that you got chosen for maid of honor. We have a lot of work to do, let's get started." Alice said, squealing as she approached Rosalie, who was in the backyard where the ceremony would take place. There were already pews lined up and some fairy lights.
"Today, we are trying on veils, Alice bought a pair of heels…" Rosalie said, although it was obvious she didn't care.
"Can't I just go barefoot?" Bella asked.
"Absolutely not!" Alice implored. "Also, we are finalizing the guest list today and starting the decorations."
I saw Jasper and Emmett already moving around giant logs and rocks with ease and hanging up white, delicate, romantic decorations. Rosalie and Alice were helping Bella look through the large selection of veils Alice procured. I saw a random piece of paper labeled "Guest List" and looked for people I knew.
"Can I invite the Clearwaters?" I asked Alice as she was ordering around Bella who was trying on veils. Rosalie's lips pursed awkwardly.
"We're inviting our cousins from the Alaska coven, and well… you're human you missed out on this. One of our cousins, Irina, her mate was a vampire who tried to threaten Bella, Laurent. The werewolves killed him." Alice said, frowning slightly.
"Oh, I see, that's a little bit awkward." I said, looking down.
"I'm inviting Jacob, I think it's ok." Bella said, turning around to look at me.
"Well, it is all about the bride." Rosalie said.
"If it was, Alice wouldn't force me to wear heels." Bella said, smirking slightly.
"Hey, you got to break those in." Alice said, pointing down at Bella's heels.
The wedding was in early August, so it was before I had to go to school. Alice had the whole wedding planned out from start to finish, I barely had anything to do. The only thing I had to do was get Bella' dress, which was already picked out. Luckily, I had a few spare moments to make my way to La Push.
"Would you be interested in coming to my sister's wedding?" I asked Leah. We were sitting down in the field near Emily's house as the rest of the Wolf Pack, which had grown since I had last been there, were rough housing and playing soccer.
"Well… I don't know. There might be other vampires over there, but if you need me there then I will go." Leah said, at first she was unsure but she simply smiled at me.
"Lizzy, don't bring Leah to the bloodsuckers." Paul called out to me. Right, wolf telepathy, looks like we'll never have any secrets.
"It's fine, Sue and Harry were already invited by Mr. Swan. The Clearwaters are allowed to go, that's final." Sam ordered at Paul as he kicked the soccer ball to him. "Just be very careful, Lizzy. Please."
"Don't worry, I'll have Leah there." I said, smiling at Leah.
I was almost uncomfortable by the amount of time I was spending at the Cullens' house. Alice had already picked out my Maid of Honor's dress. Bella had chosen a long, lavender strapless dress with a satin, violet belt. Before I knew it was the day before the wedding, but Alice was so busy I barely realized.
I knocked on Bella's door pretty late that night. I heard some voice and some thumping so I assumed that it was Edward using his vampire powers. Bella seemed excited when she saw me in the doorway.
"This is it. You're getting married tomorrow." I said, looking at Bella with a smile. "I can't believe you're going to be moving out."
"I love you, Lizzy." Bella said. She got out of her bed and gave me a huge hug.
"I love you, too, just don't forget me after you turn." I said.
"I will never ever forget you, Lizzy." Bella said.
I woke up on the morning of the wedding. I had to drive in Port Angeles because there were some very last minute adjustments made to Bella's wedding dress, which was stressing Alice out greatly.
When I got back to the Cullens' house and made my way up to the room Bella was getting ready in, Alice gave a heavy sigh of relief when she saw I had the dress. I gave a happy squeal when I saw that Mom was standing in the dressing room with Charlie, Bella, Alice, and Rosalie and sprinted towards her.
"Oh, my love! I've missed you so much!" Mom said as she squeezed me tight.
"I've missed you, too!" I said, hugging her back.
"Come on, come on, Bella needs to get ready! Bridesmaids, we must line up!" Alice said as she began to usher everyone out except for Bella.
I fixed my dress a bit before following Rosalie and Alice out of the door where the guests were already seated. Rosalie was first, then Alice, and since I was the maid of honor, I was just before Bella.
The sound of a beautiful violin sounded when I began to walk down the aisle. I carefully watched the pews filled with familiar and unfamiliar faces. Then, I finally saw Leah's face. She looked so beautiful in her feminine, gray pantsuit. Her face was cross, but the second she saw me walking down the aisle, her eyes grew wide with admiration.
Unfortunately, my trip down the aisle was finished and all I had to do was wait for Bella and Dad. I took a moment to take in the beautiful decorations, white lanterns and stylish moss, and Mom waved to me from the front row. I saw Edward standing at the altar out of the corner of my eye. Emmett and Jasper were attempting to control themselves.
I've waited a hundred years
But I'd wait a million more for you
Everyone stood up, and there she was, my sister. Bella looked beautiful in her dress, and I could tell she was happy, even if her face didn't exactly show it. I tried not to cry, I was wearing mascara, but I teared up thinking of how this might be the last time I see her as a human.
I all the sudden got really nervous for no reason when Bella and Edward had finally met at the altar. I was looking at Bella, but I could feel Leah's sharp eyes lingering on me, which is the true reason I was smiling.
I was almost taken aback when Edward and Bella shared their first kiss, well kisses, many, long kisses, as a married couple. Now it was time for the reception. I looked around the area as the pews were moved.
I was a quick wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
It was finally time to dance. Bella and Edward were having their first dance, but there were many couples joining them on the dance floor. Bella told me herself she didn't want all the attention on her.
"Would you like to dance, Lizzy?" Leah had come from behind me. I gasped and turned around. Butterflies filled my whole stomach.
"Of course," I said with a wide smile. Leah grabbed my arm and spun me into her arms. Our chests were touching, and my face was resting directly on her body. We rocked back and forth, the least technically challenging way to slow dance.
Have I found you?
Flightless bird…
I simply was pressed onto her as she led us in the dance. The song felt like it was lasting forever, in the best way. We began adding more spin and some decent footwork. Unfortunately, the song is only four minutes and ten seconds long.
I completely tuned out the toasts, I just did not have the care or energy to feel the awkwardness in the air. The only thing I cared about was the fact that I was sitting next to Leah the whole time. However, that changed halfway through my mother's speech.
"My little girl has grown up. Oh, it only seems like yesterday I was singing a lullaby to her and her sister. Go to sleep, my love Go to sleep. When you wake up, you'll see me." My mother sang. Oh no, she really went there.
However, it was soon the boring part of the wedding. The part of the wedding where everyone is just sitting around and talking. I was in a small circle with Leah, Seth, Mr. and Mrs. Clearwater, and Billy Black.
"What's wrong?" I asked Leah under my breath.
"I can hear the other vampires talking to the Cullens. They have "cousins" from Alaska, they are very angered by our presence." Leah said, her facial expression was still crossed and angry, but her face softened when I touched her on the shoulder.
"Don't listen to them. I'm sure Rosalie or Alice will talk to them." I said with a smile.
"One moment, I have to go." Leah said, patting my shoulder before looking off into the woods. That was the look Leah got when her wolf telepathy was working.
"Me too, bye Lizzy!" Seth said as he turned to follow his sister.
"Ahh, that can't be good." Sue Clearwater said as she saw her two children disappear into the woods. I simply stood with Mr. and Mrs. Clearwater for a few minutes. "Well, Lizzy, Leah really likes you. I'm so happy you two are together." Mr. Clearwater nodded.
Leah: Jacob freaked out, had to go home. Sam and Paul say hi
Damn, well, that was the end of my fun at my sister's wedding.
