Sheymoor Tirval was honestly very excited at this moment. Years ago, with the old Team Rocker, Giovanni had hired him, having seen the potential in what he had to offer and soon he had found himself in a high position with his own laboratory and aides to conduct his research and experiments as he saw fit. He was quite happy, content in his place in the world then, able to research his interests and find out how they affected the world.

Unfortunately, that was short lived and soon he found himself running for his life, finding shelter in the underground world where he laid there in hiding for years before he was once again approached and given an offer irresistible. Standing where he was now, inside of the Team Rocket warehouse watching things progress in a good manner, he couldn't stop the smile from coming onto his face, before he schooled himself as he saw the Admin overseeing the operation.

Gaz was a quiet man, dressed in combat boots and basic military gear apart from his top which had a jacket that covered his vest. On his face, he wore a skull cloth musk, literally hiding all of his face, making it impossible for people to discern his facial expressions. Even though he was quiet, that didn't mean anything because the good Doctor had seen what Gaz can do, the way he had twisted peoples limbs, beheaded grunts, gutted civilians, shot down military men and assassinated high profile individuals. No, Gaz was someone the Doctor did not want to anger.

"Alright Doctor. Trucks are loaded. You'll be staying here, keeping watch from the drones." The Doctor merely nodded, rummaging through his lab coat pockets before pulling out a cylindrical trigger. "Yes yes. Take this and when you get close enough, do press the button. I wish to see how it affects the Pokemon."

Gaz narrowed his eyes, though you wouldn't be able to see it. "Will this compromise our mission?" The Doctor shrugged, "Depending on when you use it yes. Best to use it once your objective is done." Gaz growled, "Why not try it before hand." The Doctor rolled his eyes at that. "My dear Admin, do you realize that even if a Pokemon is of the same species, they are still individuals. As such each reaction is essentially, unique. This is why I prefer…. large scale subjects. That and the result won't be as pretty." Gaz contemplated killing him right then and there but new the boss would be pissed. The Doctor was an old Team Rocket Member from the past and adding his projects, well he wasn't someone he could simply...get rid of. Sighing in disappointment, he took the trigger and made his way to his transport, "Alright you fuckfaces. Move it."

Scene Change

'Honestly, you'd expect them to not do something so foolish.' Lance couldn't help but think to himself as he saw the last Team Rocket operative be dragged away. The attack was sudden and came without warning but there was a reason no one truly messed with the Pokemon Rangers and this team found out why. 'Granted, the team wasn't that big and they weren't anything but Grunts. A diversion? For what though?'

Lance quickly sent out a message to the G-Men, ordering them to be on alert for anything before turning towards his destination.

Mount Silver was the largest mountainous area around the current known world filled with underground caverns, snow, trees, waterfalls and whatnot. Hundreds of different kinds of Pokemon lived and thrived on the Mountain, growing so powerful that even Lance was hesitant to go inside.

It was generally unknown as to why the wild Pokemon were so powerful but a probable theory is that deep inside the Mountain, the Legendary Bird Trio resided, their presence so powerful it augmented and strengthened the Pokemon around the area. It was thought that Zapdos was at the earliest levels, the reason for the storms and lightning that struck the ground frequently. Then came Articuno, the reason for the hailstorms and blizzards that seemed to swept thought the whole land. Lastly came Moltres, the reason why inside the Mountain the air was hot, the walls warm to the touch and the water heated to the point of steaming.

But it wasn't just the weather affected by them no. Pokemon grew to unnatural sizes, increased strength, blistering speed and an ability to take dozens of hits. The best example would be a normal Onix. Those normally grow to about 25 feet, 30 if well take care of. The Onix located in Mount Silver had a staggering average of 42 feet, with the largest one being nearly 50 feet. A scary sight for sure.

As such, ages ago the Silver Gate was built and the Rangers were created, people dedicated to protecting the World from Mount Silver and Mount Silver from the World. The Rangers were an old group, older than the League, having their own autonomy basically. To become a Ranger, one has to go through specific tests created by the Rangers themselves, all in secret of course, each specialized for the person. Once in, you basically became a part of the Rangers, sworn to secrecy and indoctrinated into their order. In the past, it was so that the Rangers did not have contact with the outside world, however after the Great War, the Rangers helped the Royal Army of Kanto and the banded militia of Johto to drive back Sinnoh forces. With the ending of the Great War the Rangers took on another role. Protectors of Pokemon across the world and helpers of humanity. Soon enough they were gazed at as heroes and praised for their achievements. Lance himself had modeled the G-Men after them, however his group was more secretive and 'Black-Ops'.

Lance shook his head, dispelling the thoughts from his head. 'No time to get lost. Focus.' And so, he started walking, hearing behind him the Silver Gate closing, trapping him inside a world filled with monsters.

Scene Change

Oak was doing his best trying not to laugh aloud while Ash was busy running away from a recently evolved Machoke. He had to give it to the boy, he thought he would use the conventional push-ups, orange juice and sit ups for his exercise. 'Who would have thought to go ask a Fighting Pokemon to train them.' Ash, that's who. When Oak first heard the idea, he was against it, but after a month of it, he could already see the massive improvement that Ash went through. At ten years old, Ash was able to out-run the Machop and in fact has run laps around him like its nothing. Another surprising thing was when Ash was able to heal incredibly fast after a punch to the gut from said Machop. Oak had been worried because even a small punch could cripple a child, yet Ash recovered in a few seconds.

The most horrifying yet intriguing part was when Ash picked a fight with the Machop…hand to hand. Oak thought the boy decided to commit suicide but apparently it wasn't so. When Ash had ducked underneath the punch and unleashed a devastating uppercut that actually sent the Machop on its ass, Oak could only gap much like the rest of the Pokemon at seeing that. The only explanation he had to this was that when Ash unlocked his Aura in the Hospital, he was somehow subconsciously using it to put him on even ground with a Machop. That idea had sent Oak into a frenzy of trying to discover what else changed.

Ash was known for his unnatural levels of energy and ability to run, yet when tested he had busted through those limits. When it came to strength, the boy could lift more than 15Kg of weight in a normal setting but in a fight, he smashed the Machop's jaw, after a particular nasty throw which result in the boy landing awkwardly on his arm. His healing was already documented and with this, Oak could clearly say that Ash was basically 'Super-Human'. He had never heard of Aura being used in such a way and was currently working on trying to get into contact with the only person who knew anything about Aura. It was proving difficult, what with Emelia Shirona being the same kind of recluse as he.

Otherwise, the boy was making great progress with his studies, having handed his papers in on the correct days. When it came to his Charmander, the boy had really impressed Oak. Not only were the both of them training together, running laps for hours where Charmander was running with weights on, but he was also trying to get the Pokemon to learn new moves already. With only Ember and Scratch available the boy was trying to help the young Pokemon achieve Flamethrower and Metal Claw. Chances of Charmander learning Flamethrower were small while Metal Claw had a better chance, though one should not be surprised since this Charmander was different.

Ash looked on as Charmander was busy clawing at a rock with scratch. After a week, the trees that Charmander worked on were gone, and so they decided to move towards something sturdier, however it seems like the boulder would also become useless soon if the deep gouges were an indication.

Ash sat down and reflected on the past month. In the beginning he was quite anxious, not really knowing what's to come and somewhat unsure of himself. Thankfully, Professor Oak was able to help him grow better, through personal talks, keeping him distracted with his studies and even allowing him to help around the Ranch.

The first few weeks were difficult to say the least, due to him waking up at random point of the night with this mother's death still being somewhat fresh in his mind. Sometime, Professor Oak was there to comfort him, other nights a distinctive warmth that felt otherworldly wrapped around him and through all those nights, Charmander was always there, watching over him.

When it came to Charmander, their bond just kept getting stronger. When he found out he can go toe to toe with a Machop, he and Charmander also started to train like that together. They both ran together, fought together, ate together and did everything together. Right now, Ash was resting from a small spar with Machoke—where they used to be even but now the difference was quite significant, while Charmander was gouging out parts of a boulder, trying to learn Metal Claw.

"It seems you are quite busy young man." Ash looked up to see Professor Oak standing with his hands clasped behind his back, watching Charmander furiously scratch at the boulder, a small tint of silver on his claws signifying the beginning of Metal Claw. "Hey Professor. Charmander is currently trying to learn Metal Claw. Once that's done, we'll move on to Flamethrower."

Oak raised an eyebrow at that, "Indeed? Do you truly believe Charmander able to muster up the firepower for such an attack, so young?" Ash shook his head negative, "Probably not yet but we'll ask Arcanine for some tips on how to practice. At least then, when Charmander gains the firepower he'll already have the technique done and will only have to refine his control over it."

Oak's lips twitch upwards before he shook his head. "You know Ash, for someone who hasn't had his Pokemon for so long you've already reached a level of understanding that some people take years to attain." At his confused look, he went on, "Some people don't think to have their Pokemon learn an attack until they have reached the necessary firepower, in other words often choosing power over control, technique and information. In such scenarios the Pokemon will either have to learn to properly control an attack it has no experience with or the trainer will allow it to use an unrefined attack against his enemies resulting in either defeat for the untrained Pokemon or hospital for the enemy.

However, even if they do try and learn to control the attack, most trainers don't go to older Pokemon to have them teach the newer one, often thinking that it will be simple and control will always be there no matter what." Oak stopped, wondering if Ash would pick upon his unsaid thought.

Ash looked at the ground with a scowl at the thought of people willingly allowing dangerous attacks that could cause crippling damage to their enemy, the environment around them and even themselves so easily. The last sentence though said something. "But even if the Pokemon learns to control the attack in a calm environment, that doesn't translate to them keeping it in control while they are under fire, nor does it mean that they can use the attack fast enough in a troubling situation."

Oak agreed, "Exactly. Control under duress is something only gained by experience and that is something I advise you teach Charmander as well. I believe Arcanine would be more than happy to have a new chew toy." He joked before turning away. "Now remember dinner will be ready in a few hours so don't forget to clean up. If my assistant sees you bring a mess in the lab, she won't be happy." Both started to chuckle at the memory of a muddy Ash and Charmander while Oak shook his head and his assistant crying.

"Before I forget Ash, what will you name Charmander?"

Ash adopted a thinking look on his face before breaking into a smile, "Charmander and I were stumped with finding a good enough name for him, so what we did was go through some story books and we found one." Oak raised an eyebrow, "And that is?"

Ash smiled, not a happy smile but one that reminded Oak of those who thirst for their enemies blood, one that did not sit well with him. "Surtr." Oak nodded, appearing calm on the outside, on the inside however he shivered at the name and the tone of voice. He watched as Ash got up and went back to training with Machoke, 'Ash…'
