Bumblebee saw Optimus Prime speaking to Arcee and he too remembered the sad day before the Exodus when he had to say goodbye to his surrogate mother, Elita-One, and his surrogate little sister, Altair Comet. He beeped in sadness as he remembered on that day when he hugged his mother and sister, who weren't even related to him before he had to leave and continue fighting the Decepticons with his foster father, Optimus Prime. It was long after Megatron crushed his voice box and Bumblebee lost the ability to talk again because of what the Decepticon warlord did to him.

~Flashback to Bumblebee's sad memories~

"I'll miss you, big brother." Altair Comet said sadly as she hugged Bumblebee. Bee was crying as he held his surrogate sister one last time before she had to go. Altair Comet was only 14 in human years and Bumblebee was 19 in human years when they had to say goodbye to each other. "Come along, dear," Elita-One told her daughter. "I don't want to lose him." Altair Comet said. "You won't. And I promise...that someday...he will be able to speak again." Optimus Prime told his daughter. "I promise." His voice echoed as the memory faded.

~Flashback ends~

Arcee and Optimus Prime noticed Bumblebee standing in the shadows and eavesdropping on them talking about the day Optimus found and adopted Bumblebee when he still had his voice box as a child at the beginning of the Great War. "Bumblebee." Optimus Prime said when he saw his surrogate son. Bumblebee beeped as he tried to apologize for interrupting and eavesdropping before he went into hiding. "Wait. You don't need to hide." Arcee said. Bumblebee looked at the two-wheeler and the last of the Primes with guilt in his cyan optics, but they gave him a comforting group hug after letting him know that he's done nothing wrong and that they're sorry for what Megatron did to him.

"You have nothing to apologize for. We're sorry for what had happened to you. For what Megatron had done to you." Arcee told Bumblebee. "I've made my promise and I will keep that promise when the time comes. You're okay, Bumblebee. You will be alright. Come here." Optimus Prime told Bumblebee in a tone a parent uses to comfort his or her child. Bumblebee beeped as he started to tear up and breakdown a little as his surrogate father continued to comfort him.

The next day, Jack Darby was at high school with his friends, Miko Nakadai and Rafael Esquivel, who were going on with their day while keeping the knowledge of the Autobots, the Decepticons, M.E.C.H and anything that's Cybertronian related. Jack was in the hallway after class when he bumped into Sierra who dropped her schoolbooks. "Oh, sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to..." Jack Darby tried to apologize as he tried to help Sierra pick up her books. "No, that's fine. I..." Sierra replied when she placed her hand on one of her books and Jack accidentally placed his hand onto hers, making them look at each other and blush. Jack let go and he let Sierra pick up her books before anyone would notice the awkward high school sweetheart moment. When Jack Darby and Sierra got up, he looked at her with an embarrassed look on his face before he decided to be on his merry way. "Bye," Jack said. "W-Wait. Don't go." Sierra told the young man. She got Jack's attention as he turned to look at her and he asked, "What do you want with me?" Sierra fixed her hair while holding her books. "Um, I was just wondering...since the school dance is coming up this weekend..." she began. "Would you like to invite me to the school dance tonight?" She asked. Jack Darby was surprised. He forgot that the school dance was this weekend. Hearing his crush ask him to invite her on a school date was unexpected, yet at the same time, it made him feel happy. "What? Really??" Jack asked happily. Sierra nodded. "Yeah." She spoke. "But what if Vince finds out?" Jack Darby asked. Sierra scoffed, "Don't worry about him. He's already asked one of my gal pals out. So...would you be willing to ask me out tonight next week?" She asked. Jack was about to accept it when he heard his phone ringing. He flipped his phone and it had Arcee's phone number and Jack, not wanting any other human at school know of the Autobots knew he had to rush to a private area where he could answer his guardian's call. But before he would leave the hallway, he hid his phone and accepted Sierra's invitation. "Yes!" Jack said to his school crush before he left the hallway and went outside.

Once Jack Darby was outside of school, he answered Arcee's phone call. "Hello?" Jack Darby said. "Hey, Jack. Sorry I called you during school hours." Arcee apologize through the phone. "No that's fine, Arcee. What's up?" Jack asked. Arcee sighed in a sad regretful tone. Jack couldn't help but guess what she's unhappy about. "It's Smokescreen again, is it?" Jack assumed. "I'm afraid so. Jack? I feel like I'm the one to blame for him leaving and joining the Decepticons. I was too hard on him and that was enough to make the kid switch sides." Arcee told Jack. "I just thought I'd have someone to talk to. Figured I'd talk with my junior partner." She spoke.

"Arcee, it wasn't your fault. I'm sure that Smokescreen made a mistake." Jack told Arcee through the phone. "No, Jack. You don't understand. When we first found him, I thought he was a Decepticon posing as an Autobot Elite Guard. But Smokescreen wasn't a 'Con. We treated him with such doubt and indignity and without respect." Arcee told her human partner. "Wow, that's...that's heavy. I mean, I know that he's a bit of a show off, but I didn't think he would join Megatron and be his foster son. But Arcee, you can't blame yourself for what just happened. Just remember what Optimus said." Jack replied.

"Give him time. I know. But I'm not sure how long it's gonna take for Smokescreen to realize that Megatron is untrustworthy to be a surrogate father to him." Arcee said. "Speaking of fathers. My dad, Nick Darby left my mom to raise me. Because he and my mom had a fight, and they got a divorce. He never came back." Jack told the two-wheeler on the phone. "Ohh. I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I knew what it's like to have parents. Cybertronians are either born from the Well of Allsparks, from hot spots, or from when they begin their lifecycle as protoforms." Arcee told Jack. "But what about Cybertronian reproduction? Where do robot babies come from?" Jack asked. "You mean sparklings? Well, it's complicated. Let's just say that it's rare for Cybertronians to breed and reproduce sparkling life and it's a lot different than how you humans do it." Arcee replied.

Jack suddenly heard the school bell ring and he told Arcee on the phone goodbye. "Uh, I gotta go. Don't want to miss class." He said. "Okay. Bye, Jack." Arcee said. Meanwhile, Knock Out was strolling around the Nemesis when he decided that he wanted to go out for a spin. But in order for him to go street racing among the humans outside the Decepticon warship, he'll have to sneak pass his lordship and his second-in-command. Knock Out was trying to sneak his way out when he heard Smokescreen speak to him. "Knock Out?" The red medic yelped as he was startled by the young bot behind him. "Smokescreen! Don't you scare me like that!" He snapped at the young bot. "Forgive me. I just wanted to thank you for...sharing your life story with me. I didn't think that I would find any bot around here who would have the same rough childhood as I did." Smokescreen told Knock Out. Knock Out paused before he cleared his throat as he talked to the young new Decepticon recruit. "Well, it was an honor to relate to you, young prince." Knock Out said. "Please, just call me "Smokescreen". Where are you going by the way?" Smokescreen asked. Knock Out turned his head around to find out if Soundwave or Starscream or any other Vehicon is watching or hearing. "Can I tell you a secret?" Knock Out asked Smokescreen. The white, red, and blue mech nodded before he lend in his audio receptors.

"I haven't gone street racing among the humans since the day I lost Breakdown. Dreadwing told me the unfortunate news that my partner got his spark extinguished by the traitor, Airachnid. I'm sure that that two-wheeler told you about that spider-like femme who terminated my partner." Knock Out told Smokescreen as he whispered into his audio receptor. "Yeah. Arcee has had a bad history of rivalry with her. Though she barely told me about her." Smokescreen said. "Well, I need you to cover for me so that I can go outside the Nemesis and go for a solo drive. You think you can handle that? If you tell our lord and master, then he and Starscream will punish me for not doing my job here." Knock Out said as he asked Smokescreen to buy him some time. "You mean...you want me to...?" Smokescreen asked. The medic nodded at the young Autobot-turned-Decepticon heir. Smokescreen looked down and he looked like he was being persuaded to do something wrong. "Why can't we just ask Megatron to grant you permission? I can ask him if we can go out together." Smokescreen suggested. Knock Out nodded. "No. Megatron hasn't been kind enough to let someone like me take a break outside since the day he..." Knock Out stopped himself from saying the last part that seemed important just as Smokescreen wanted to know as he asked the medic what last part, he was going to say regarding Megatron to which Knock Out brushed it off by saying, "Never mind. Look, just make sure to buy me time and cover for me until I can get back to this warship. If anyone asks, just make excuses or brush them off. Understood?"

Smokescreen looked uncertain. "I don't know. I feel bad about lying to my new adopted father or the other Decepticons." He said. "Don't think of it as lying. Just think of it as keeping them busy so that I can go outdoors and seize the day. I'll be back in half a mega-cycle. Okay?" Knock Out told Smokescreen. Smokescreen considered it before he nodded. "Okay. Don't worry. If you get caught, I'll take the blame for your actions." Smokescreen promised. "Thank you. I never thought I would make friends with an Ex-Autobot." Knock Out said. Smokescreen smiled at the cherry red medic before he helped him sneak outside the Nemesis. Once Knock Out went outside, he seized the opportunity to go street racing among the humans again. But that wasn't his intention. What Knock Out actually wanted...was to find and interact with a single random human so that the medic would analyze what makes them so special to the Autobots. But he has to trust Smokescreen not to tell anyone aboard the Nemesis where their one and only Decepticon medic is.
