Disclaimer: One of the many misfortunes of life is that I am not the author of J.K. Rowling's amazing books. Something to think about that goes part way to recovering your own happiness and individuality…

Just remember that you are unique… just like everyone else.

Chapter 1 – Breaking the Seal

Lavender darted down the stairs at the constant tap, tap, tap, at the snowy kitchen window. She had a feeling that this letter was going to be good. Through unexpected circumstances, her friendship with Parvati had been torn apart and they had been cut off from one another for months. As tolerant as the Hufflepuffs were, Lavender knew that they had been welcoming Christmas break as a rest from her constant chatter, anxiety, and the "Have you heard from Parvati yet?" that they had patiently received everyday.

She reached outside and lifted a tawny owl through the high kitchen window, shivering at the blast of cold air that flew in before she managed to close the glass again. Now in their seventh year at Hogwarts, the girl had grown old enough to work for the light side and Lavender had spent a few good long hours thinking about Parvati and what she was up to. Due to the secrecy and risk of interruption, no communication was allowed, but somehow, Parvati had managed to sneak around that rule.

Lavender absently stroked the owl while detaching it from the letter to read the front:

For my darling Lavender

She laughed at the words, knowing that if anyone else had read them, they would think the two friends to be very close indeed. Lavender, however, appreciated the fact that no matter how far apart they were, Parvati had not abandoned her. Because they had been with each other almost constantly for six years, they had not been used to being separated and although it had been quite a while, it still came across as quite a shock to Lavender when she realised that she could not rush across a few rooms to impart the latest bit of gossip or scandal to Parvati.

Lavender impatiently broke the seal, her fingers trembling as she read her friend's familiar writing that she had been reading since what felt like forever.

Hey Darlz,
How have you been?
I'VE MISSED YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
So what's been happening?
I might not be home for a little bit, so you can ask Mum about what's up with me, it'd take too long to explain.
Anyway, I really should be going.
Miss you more everyday, don't forget me.
xx, Parvati.

So, my lovelies, I know you would like an update, but I wanted to start yet another story. I got inspired…. Again… and I just couldn't get the idea to go away for a bit, so you have a new story to read… and review, please…

Love,
