The green waves swept together in perfect timing, the dream lulling Jack's senses. He wasn't even surprised when a voice echoed through his sleep.
"You will be afraid and confused when you wake up. But do not forget, you have your friends. They will help you in your travels to save our world. Now, let the destiny chosen for you finally take place..." The serene voice said. Jack felt like he was drifting away as he woke up...
White lines slowly seeped in through his head. He realised it was sunlight, so he must be awake. He tried to focus his eyesight, but it stayed blurry, as if his body was weary and new. A shadow appeared before him, the blurry black contrasting with the pale blue of the bright sky. It moved around, as if it was inspecting him. The shadow finally spoke after some time.
"Hey...are you okay? You seem sick. Hello?" The voice was inquisitive. Jack's senses tried to sharpen.
"What? What's wrong?" Jack asked the figure. The figure tilted its head.
"Well, I've never met an ill Charmander dozing in the middle of the forest before." It replied. Jack finally managed to regain his eyesight. The figure was a Tododile, the eyes looking innocently at him. Jack finally began to regain his thoughts and senses when he saw the Tododile speak.
"You... are fine, aren't you? Because if you aren't, I'll go and get Auntie Kangaskan." The Tododile asked. Jack looked around and realised he was lying on his back. He managed to stand up, his muscles aching with sleep. He seemed to be in some kind of forest, much unlike his home in Goldenrod City. Not to mention he felt completely different for some bizarre reason. He looked at a nearby puddle and gazed at the reflection silently. It was not his usual black hair, pink skin and green eyes in the water, but he had no hair, red skin and blue eyes. He was a Charmander. His mind raced as he tried to comprehend the situation.
"Why have I become a Charmander? What's going on?" He said. The Tododile walked up to him.
"Why, is something wrong?" The Tododile asked. Jack looked at him.
"I'm a human, but now I'm a Charmander! This is so confusing." Jack said, yet jumped as the Tododile laughed.
"Yeah right, you being a hu-" The Tododile stopped as Jack glared at him. "You're not... serious, are you?" Jack simply stared with a cold shoulder.
"Ask me a question only a human would know." Jack asked. The Tododile thought for a moment.
"What are those red and white things called?" The Tododile said back. Tododile knew the answer, as the Whiscash Elder had told him. Jack simply scoffed.
"Too easy. Pokeballs." He answered. Tododile stared back. This Charmander really was a human!
"So, you really are a human. Or at least, you used to be. Well, have you still got a name?" The crocodile Pokemon said.
"Jack." Jack replied. The Tododile smiled.
"Crill." The Tododile said. Jack stopped himself from asking why he had such a stupid name. Prehaps it was a perfectly ordinary name for a Pokemon. Their thoughts were interrupted by groans from some nearby bushes. Jack slowly walked over to the bush and peered through. There was a Treecko and a Pikachu starting to wake up. Jack jumped.
"Mark? Chris?" Jack asked.
