Divas Prison Ch57
"Oh yeah!" Warden Ric Flair pumped his fist after rolling in his putt. It wasn't exactly a tough one to make, ten, maybe twelve feet, but he patted himself at the back like he just won a PGA title. He even raised the ball up like he was saluting a crowd as he got himself ready to tackle the next.
A loud buzzing noise snapped him out of his little fantasy as his intercom came to life and the sound of his PA was unmistakable. "Warden, the Head Guard is here to see you."
"Dammit Liz, did I or did I not ask not to be disturbed for the next two hours? I'm working on something essential and need peace and quiet!" Flair shouted back into the intercom, not doing anything to hide his annoyance.
"Yes sir, you did, but he says this is urgent and cannot wait."
"For fu... right, Ok, send him in." The intercom buzzed off and there was a knock on the door. "Yes, come in." Flair said. If he was trying to suppress his frustration, he was doing a bad job of it.
"Sorry sir, but you need to hear this, there, whoa!" Head Guard Borden did not expect the golf ball near the door and lost his footing as he trod on it, nearly falling to the floor.
"It's fine Steve, what is it you need."
"It's, well, this is the essential work?" The guard the prisoners knew as 'Sting' tried to speak light heartedly, to move past the fact he nearly made a show of himself in his bosses office, and to deflect from the news he had to bring.
"Yes it is, I've got a tee time with the Governor on Saturday. Now he's a cert to win the election, I've got some sucking up to do."
"Well it's easy enough to win running unopposed, not that I'd tell him that. Besides, you don't have to keep making amends for the breakout any more, we got them all. we will have all the escapees back within our walls pretty soon, and Bayley too."
"Don't let me hear you refer to her as Bayley again. She's now a convicted criminal like the rest of them, now she finally decided finally pleading guilty was the right thing to do. I'm looking forward to telling her what I think of her when her transport arrives this week. She gets no special treatment, in fact, you can make her eight years feel like eight lifetimes as much as you want. I've even selected her cell assignment myself. A60." Flair smirked.
"A60? Isn't that...?" Sting didn't finish his sentence, knowing the answer.
"Yes it is, she won't like having a cellmate, what a pity."
"Yes sir, now, as much as I would like to continue changing the subject. We have a situation. We have a Code Two situation in A Block." Flairs facial expression went from a big grin to a scowl in a heartbeat.
"Code Two? Inmate threatening another with a weapon? How the hell did that happen?"
"I don't know sir, but one prisoner is holding another with a bladed item to their throat, says if we go in the cell, she will kill her."
"Your men are well equipped and trained, if it's in a cell it's contained, just tool up and incapacitate them however you need to. We aren't going to be messed around like this. Just deal with it."
Sting took a breath, he had expected that order, it's the one he'd have given, but he now had to explain why he hadn't. "I understand sir. But before you give me that order, please be aware that the aggressor is Inmate Nicole Bella, and the victim is Inmate...Flair."
The Warden stopped in his tracks. He turned to face his long time coworker. "What did you say?"
"You heard me correct sir."
"You are telling me that the inmate with a knife to their throat is my..." He hesitated, he hadn't referred to her as anything but an inmate since an argument with his head guard not long after Charlotte beginning her sentence. He swallowed hard. "...my daughter?"
'Sting' nodded his head. "Yes sir. Do you want me to carry out your previous order?"
Ric sat in his chair. For the first time he was second guessing himself. He prides himself on not showing leniency on those incarcerated in his prison, he dealt with rule breakers harshly, and instructed his staff as such. He would have taken all measures to deal with a hostage situation, and with none of his staff at risk, any injury to the inmate being held was nothing but collateral damage. But this time it was different.
"Sir, I need your orders, do I get a team geared up and go in hard to extract the inmates?"
Flair sat in silence, not responding to the question. His subordinate staying silent, knowing he was deep in thought, and he trusted that he was going to get the all clear in moments.
"No, I'm going to go down there. Get extra officers to A block to be safe, anyone else gives trouble, cuff them and throw them in The Lock. I don't want this to turn into another riot."
"Then let me call a lockdown sir."
No, then I have to inform the Governors office of the breakdown in discipline and security, I don't want that."
"Sir, we have to report a hostage taking, even one that we put down in short order."
"No Steve, we don't. We end it quickly and peacefully, and it's like it never happened, McMahon doesn't know, and you and I don't face any action from above. This will end me with Vince, and my chances of his endorsement as his successor in two years. After the escape, the police look like the heroes, we look like idiots. Not again."
"Sir, again, procedure dictates we have to inform the Governors office. If he hide it and get found out, forget elections, we won't get jobs as traffic cops."
Flairs face was getting redder and redder at the situation, and the defiance of his number two, and now had had enough. "Then you call him! You call him! Call him! Tell him what? You can't control your prisoners? We are failing in our job of keeping even one woman down there safe? Because that is what they think, that's what he told me at our last meeting is his concern. So go ahead, do it, I'll be trying to get her out of there, rather than dealing with the bureaucracy that can wait till tomorrow!"
Flair stormed out of the room, leaving his colleague stood there shocked, but dismayed. It was clear from his last outburst he wasn't thinking as a Warden, but as a Father. Knowing he had to do this, he picked up the phone and dialled, hoping his friend and boss would see it's the right thing at the end of it all.
Flair loudly gave his orders to keep the inmates back as he arrived on the block. Charlotte heard his voice arguably clearer than anyone else there.
"Nicole, you know that's the Warden, you have to let me go, or I don't know what he's going to do.
"I don't care. If they try and take me down, they'll take you with me anyway. I don't care what happens to me."
"Inmate Bella!" Came the loud call from outside the door. "This is the Warden. There is no need for any of this. What will it take for you to let your hostage go and surrender?"
"Are you kidding?" Nikki responded. "You had every chance. You could have left us alone, but no, you send half an army and nearly kill me just to put us back in here!"
"That's not my doing. You chose to escape and chose to commit serious offences. That more than merits your incarceration here. You're now risking a further sentence you know. You come out now, I'll see to it that doesn't happen. Cause any harm to that other inmate, and you're looking at several years more at least. There's no ending here that works for you."
"Yes there is." Nikki said, having a light bulb go off in her head. "You get me out of here. Clear my record and let me go free. My sister too. She got us caught again, but I'm not leaving her behind, no matter how she feels. I get her away from this bitch and..."
"Hey!" Ric cut her off, hearing his daughter called a bitch while having a shank to her throat was more than he could hear. "Whatever issues you have, act on them and there will be no deal."
"So you're saying we have a deal?" Nikki asked.
"I can't just release a convicted criminal. My job is to run this prison, nothing more."
"Well someone must be able to. I don't care if you have to speak to the goddammed President. If we don't walk out of here free, she won't walk out at all." Nikki pressed the shank into Charlottes shoulder, not stabbing her, but enough to draw blood and cause her to scream.
Hearing the scream was torture for the Warden. "All right, all right! Just hold on. You are a prisoner of the state, so I have to talk to..." Ric paused and cursed under his breath "...I have to talk to the Governor."
"I want it in writing, signed, sealed and delivered in one hour!" Nikki called as the Warden ran out of the block, a guard only just getting the main door unlocked in time.
Flair burst into his office to find his number two sat at his desk, using his phone. "What are you doing?" He asked, out of breath.
"I'm talking to the Governors office, as we have to." Was all he could respond with before Flair grabbed the phone from him.
"Give it to me, I've got to speak to him." He said. "But don't think I haven't realised your failure to follow my order."
'Sting' knew this wasn't the time for a fight, and took his leave, heading for A block to get an update. Flair waited for him to go and then focused on his telephone call. "Vince, I'm sorry to call, but I need you to do something for me."
The voice on the other end was not the one he expected. "Vince? I think you'll find you should be addressing him as 'Governor.'"
Flairs head fell. "Stephanie. I need to speak to your father. I mean, the Governor, it's urgent."
"Well you can't. He's in a meeting with the State Party chairman. He's going to be elected in a landslide and they want to build off that. I'm not pulling him out of it so he can hear another way you can't run your prison. I assume that's why you're calling, your next in command certainly gave me that impression." Stephanie talked down to Ric in a way that made his blood boil at the best of times, but he had to keep his composure.
"We have a hostage situation. One inmate holding another a knifepoint, she's demanding a pardon for her and one other. I want to ask the Governor to please comply with the demand."
"Comply? Is that what you said? To just issue a pardon for two prisoners? You run a high security facility Ric, or at least you are supposed to. They aren't in there for parking tickets. What are the two serving time for?"
"It's the Bella sisters. Drug trafficking, and now escape." Ric knew his honesty wasn't going to help him.
"Escape? So after law enforcement have to bring those two back into custody, you want to just let them go free? Have you completely lost your mind?"
"But there is a woman's life at stake, it's my daughter."
The scoff Flair heard in response nearly triggered him. He held his tongue for his own sake. Telling off the Governors daughter was never a good idea, but it was something he longed to do.
"So Ric, not only have you allowed more breakdowns in what should be the strictest discipline among your prisoners, you are failing in something you promised the Governor in person, while I was in the room, that placing your daughter in your facility would create no conflict of interest. You pleaded for it, now you have failed. When this is over, I will have to liase with the DOC to have her transferred as soon as possible, maybe to the Supermax facility in Jacksonville?"
The thought of his daughter being sent to the highest security prison in the state and the misery she'd suffer with such a long sentence was the last straw.
"You listen to me Stephanie. I called to speak to the Governor, not his Chief Of Staff or anyone else. I run my prison as I see fit, and breakdowns in discipline are dealt with according to the rules and regulations. I don't need you telling me how to do my job, I've made a decision and I need the Governors support, as required by state law, now put him on the damn phone!"
There was silence for a moment.
"I think you forget who you work for. You demand nothing of the Governor. He's about to be re elected, and you know damn well he is known for being tough on crime. If he's known for zero tolerance, how would it look, only weeks before the election, if he issues a pardon to a prisoner holding a hostage? It will not happen. You end this situation with all necessary force, and you end it now. I expect to speak with you again within one hour, with news of the end of the situation without incident. Don't let me down again." The line went dead.
"Bitch!" Flair shouted as he slammed the phone down onto his desk and picked up the radio. "Flair to Borden, what's your 20?."
"Yes sir, I'm on A Block, minimal extra inmate trouble."
"Good, tell Inmate Bella her letter is going, and quietly assemble Extraction Team Alpha, I want them ready to go in ten minutes. Your orders are to end this quickly with absolutely no damage done. Quick, simple and efficient, what you trained them for."
"Understood." 'Sting' quickly walked away, talking his radio as he did.
Nikki never stood a chance. After bringing her to the door, under the impression they had her pardon ready for her, the door was quickly opened and before Nikki even had the first idea what was going on, she was rushed by four guards in full gear and pinned to the wall by riot shields. This gave the last two members of the team the chance to grab Charlotte and pull her out of the cell. She rushed right past her Father and straight to Brie, who hugged her. Ric saw this and watched his daughter hold the sister of the woman who moments ago was holding a knife to her throat. In that moment he was putting two and two together, and getting exactly the right answer. He hoped he was wrong, that his daughter, prisoner or not wasn't...that way.
His train of thought was interrupted as his team of guards carried Nikki out of the cell. With handcuffs on her wrists and one guard holding her by each limb, she wasn't able to resist in any way, despite her attempts to struggle. They moved at some speed, taking her to solitary confinement, as was procedure when given no choice but to extract a prisoner by force.
"Hold!" Flair ordered loudly. This team worked with military precision, as was their training. Nikki could be heard struggling and groaning in pain with her shoulders were forced back as she was suspended in the air.
"Bring her here and stand her up." The order was again complied with and Nikki was looking the Warden in the face as she still tried to get free from the iron grip of several guards.
"That's it for you. You have stepped out of line for the last time in this prison." Ric said, with no masking his anger.
Nikki coughed as she tried to respond. "Yeah, what are you going to do about it?"
The Warden did everything he could to remember his place and not strike the restrained prisoner in front of him, he certainly had plenty of reason to. "I'm not going to do anything. However, a colleague of mine will be. You are going to be transferred to Jacksonville Correctional Facility. The first Supermax in the state to accept female prisoners. You clearly need more severe incarceration. By next month, you are going to be begging to be allowed back here. Near permanent solitary confinement, no communal area, locked in your cell all day, escorted to shower alone three times a week, recreation time for an hour three times a week, near no contact with anyone but the guard who delivers your food, and they won't give you the time of day. No education, no work programs, just hard time. Very hard time, and you've got more than three decades of it to look forward to. I hope you understand, you have nobody to blame but yourself." Flair smirked at how pale Nikki had gotten at hearing her future. He the addressed his guards again. "Get her out of here, best get her in solitary as quick as possible, let her start getting used to it."
The guards followed their order, picking Nikki back up, her feet barely touching the floor as she began to scream "You can't do this! Brie! Help me please!"
The cries of her twin were more than Brie could stand. She was stood close to Charlotte, she looked her in the eye, and then ran to the Warden before either of them said a word, or before a guard could stop her.
"Please, sir, don't send her away. Let her stay here. I'll make sure she stays in line. We both will. We will do our time and do it quietly. Please, one last chance."
Flair had no interest in her pleas. "Not a chance. Escape, severe violence, hostage taking. All acts that warrant a higher degree of security. I wanted you all sent back here to show everyone that escaping from prison is a worthless act. But this is what she deserves, what anyone deserves if they cannot follow the rules. The decision is final."
Brie felt herself panic. "Then let me go with her."
Now Charlotte was the one who felt panic. She started for the two of them but was pulled back and held by the arm by a guard, intent on not letting another inmate near his boss.
The Warden couldn't believe what he had heard any more than his daughter.
"Are you for real? You actually want to go into a Supermax facility?"
"I want to be with my sister." Brie restated, making Charlotte pull harder against her captor.
"Were you not listening when I described it. Single cells, almost all day, every day. You'd be lucky if you saw each other for more than an hour a week."
"I don't care, that's better than never seeing her." Brie responded defiantly, and in the process, Charlotte felt like her heart had been broken. Brie would rather never see her to be with her sister for barely a few minutes a week, was what she heard.
"Brie, no!" Charlotte screamed, struggling against the guard more, trying to get away from him.
Suddenly Ric had made his mind up. "You know what, you have a deal, I'll be happy never to set eyes on either of you again. Owens, cuff her, take her to The Lock as well, they can stay there till the transport to Jacksonville can be arranged. They can get used to the isolation."
Guard Owens came forward to comply with the order, Brie putting her hands behind her back, wanting to show compliance since her request was being granted. Once she was restrained, Owens began to lead her out of the block. Only now did Brie dare to take a look back at Charlotte, seeing her a picture of despair.
"I'm sorry" she mouthed, just before she was too far away for her lip movements to be readable. Moments later she was out of sight, the large metal door closing with a loud bang.
Charlotte had one last attempt at getting away from her guard, her emotions out of control, her knee to his groin did the trick. He fell to the ground, and another charging her was fooled when she changed direction and tripped him. Charlotte stood in front of her Father, as angry as she'd ever been. She was unable to help herself, she swung as hard as she ever had, slapping him with a noise that would have been heard miles away if they were outside.
The shouts of "oh hell yeah!" And general cheers were not heard by Charlotte as she watched Ric slowly recover to be looking at her again. The guard she incapacitated had reached his feet and came towards her, baton ready.
"No!" Ric said, just before the guard swung, avoiding a blow that would have rendered any of the women unconscious. He resisted as ordered, but quickly pulled Charlottes arms behind her, putting her in handcuffs. Charlotte didn't say a word, but didn't resist either.
"You'll rot in the lock for that." He said, still a little wheezy.
"No." Ric said, staring back at his daughter. "She wants that. Lock her in her cell instead. 36 hours. Then no privileges, no commissary, no visitation, no nothing till further notice." He then leant in and whispered so nobody else could hear. "You want her? No daughter of mine is going to be a lesbian. You're a disgrace, haven't you embarrassed this family enough, or did you forget you killed my son? I should disown you." He then spoke loudly again. "Get her out of my sight. Lock her up."
Charlotte spat at the floor in front of the Warden as she was dragged off to her cell. When she got there, she began screaming like she never had before. The emotion and anger was too much for her. The Warden didn't say another word, tuning and leaving the block. The rest of the women began to disperse, the show over, most of them not caring about Charlottes screaming. Paige sat down at a table, Becky quickly sitting on her lap, cuddling up to her and trying to be subtly affectionate.
"That reminds me of when they took you from me. Poor Charlotte. We will have to keep an eye on her."
Paige checked before sneaking a kiss. "I know babe. It's ok. I came back. But I don't think the twins will."
"See?" Becky argued. "That's what I thought. It's the worst feeling ever. You know what happened with me. I'm worried she might..." Becky trailed off. Paige knew what she was thinking of course.
"Bex, you had a real bad time with it. You still do. That sort of issue doesn't go away, and there's nothing wrong with how you felt. But that doesn't mean Charlotte will react the same in the long run. She isn't the same person as you. Good job she isn't, or you might have some competition."
"You wouldn't dare. You love me too much. In fact, I think we need a bit of a stress reducer." Becky bit her bottom lip and took Paige's hand, pulling her towards their cell.
"You don't think they might be on the lookout after all that?" Paige asked, not wanting to sound like she's complaining.
"Hell with them, let them watch for all I care. I want you, now." Paige knew Becky's sudden lust was caused by her separation anxiety acting up, but it was often the best way to help her get past it. And she was never turning down what was being offered...
A.N.: I can't tell you how good it feels to be able to bring out more for this story. It takes so long to do one chapter still. Since then we have had the first women's main event at Wrestlemania. What an achievement. My congratulations to Ronda, Charlotte and Becky for all they did to make it happen. As the writer of a story set in a prison, it won't surprise anyone to hear I thought the Raw the week before with them all fighting in handcuffs was brilliantly hilarious. Obviously I was Team Becky in the match, as I've been since her match with Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover Unstoppable. It was great to see her go from a nothing in the pre show battle royal to winning titles in the main event. Becky2Belts won't last long I'm sure, but it's a moment she'll have forever.
Next time we could go one of two ways. Ric mentioned that Bayley has been convicted in court and will therefore be arriving at the prison very soon to start her sentence. He knows who he's put her in a cell with, but who is it?
Alternatively, we could see what's happening with Sasha Banks. She's in County Jail, but is looking for a meeting with the Feds to try and bring Stephanie down, and get something for herself I'm sure. Problem is Stephanie knows that's what she's going to do. Do leave me a review letting me know which you'd like to see, both will be written, but which one comes first is the question.
As always, thank you for reading, I really appreciate every one of you.
