Divas Prison Ch65
"Damn, here we go again, Jericho's got that look on his face." One of the lab techs called out as he spotted the Agent heading their way at pace with an expression that could have killed at a hundred paces.
"Well?" Was all he said he pushed the door so hard it could have broken off its hinges.
"Well what?" The lab tech fired back.
Jericho walked around to him and grabbed him by his shirt. "You want to get smart with me junior? I've got barely a few hours to close this case, and I don't need some smart ass nerd getting in my way."
"Then you better let me go and hear what we have to tell you." The tech continued to stand up to Jericho, staring him down until his shirt was released.
"You better have something good to say, or you and I are going round and round." Jericho said. His partner pulled him back and stood between them.
"Billy, stop being an ass, and tell us. What did you find on that laptop?" Paul asked.
"Plenty. Most of it was encrypted, or had to be recovered. The security was good. Luckily we are better. First thing is this." Billy handed over some papers. "Offshore bank account in the name of a dummy corporation. Only one person has moved money in and out of it. You know who that is."
Jericho nodded. "How much money is in it?"
"The tech looked Jericho in the eye, dropping all his attitude from before. "Just under one hundred and seventy million dollars."
"What?" Paul said in disbelief.
"Deposits have been going in for seven years, but got much more substantial in the last four, going up year after year." The tech continued. "Last deposit was three days ago, one and a half million. One of the bigger deposits."
"Probably stashing it in case Daddy loses today. She's smart, even running unopposed, he isn't guaranteed to win."
"News is predicting a landslide based on their exit polls, but voting goes on for another few hours." Another tech pointed at the tv, which was showing a local news program."
"She's built quite the retirement fund. All dirty money of course. Hopefully we can seize it once we get her convicted." Jericho thought out loud.
"She's got enough to live on for two lifetimes. Why keep going?" The tech asked.
"She's greedy. That meth is generating big time money. Plus everything else she is, or might be doing. She's thinks she's untouchable as long as her Dad is in office." Jericho said angrily.
"Well, there's certainly more going on from what I've seen here. Take a look." The tech sat at the laptop and brought up more screens. "Encrypted emails. Each more severe than the last. This exchange threatens the State Treasurer to give more control over funding to the Governor's office."
"The treasurer? You saying she forced Mike Rotunda to let her control the money?"
"No, not him. He must have been on board before taking the job. This is with his predecessor. A Mr. Windham." This information made the two partners look at each other.
"Paul, didn't he…?"
Paul nodded. "Found dead in his home. Suicide."
"Yeah, I'm not so sure about that now." Jericho looked back to the tech at the computer. "Anything else about Windham?"
"No, just a lot of threats against him and his family. He pushed back pretty hard."
"Get hold of any information you can find on his death, including timelines linked to these email dates." Jericho instructed. "What else do you have?"
"Emails with both the women you arrested in the raid this morning." The tech replied.
"No shocker. Helps us link her to them and the drugs. Do they mention it directly?"
"No, mostly general discussion. Typical buzzwords like 'product' and such. Nothing concrete, but it adds to the evidence. Conspiracy charges at the very least. Speaking of which there's one more thing you'll like, you know a guy named Kane Jacobs?"
Jericho rolled his eyes. "Yeah, he's one of her assistants. I knew at least one of them had to be dirty, or she'd never have stayed so clean."
"He definitely is. He flags in several emails talking about Dixie Carter. From what I can figure out, he was ordered to have Carter killed and his plan failed big time."
"I'll say." Wight interrupted. "I never even heard about any attempt on her life before Sasha Banks."
"Exactly. McMahon goes ballistic at him. He tells her that the only one who could pull it off is Banks herself. Then there are plenty of emails between them, several sent to Bayley Martinez, and another guy we've identified as Daniel Bryan, a known associate of the Bella Twins."
"Man, the doctor really messed up. Doing an 8 year sentence , and we found proof anyway." Jericho mused.
"Daniel Bryan. One of the Bellas had mentioned a Daniel had screwed them over. But he was involved with their escape?" Jericho recalled.
His partner checked his phone for information. "They're both locked up in Jacksonville Supermax. We don't have time to get their story on this if we want to get this done today."
"No bother. They might be willing to talk about him, but it doesn't help us here. What it does do is make Banks' statement plausible. Backs up what she told us. That was why the Judge refused the warrant before. More conspiracy charges. Not what I would have liked, enough to send her to prison for a long time, but not forever."
"Yeah, but this will." The tech said, in a deadpan tone.
Jericho spun back around to face him. "I thought you said that was the last thing?"
"On the laptop yeah, there's nothing else there that helps with your case, but did you forget this?" He help up a large evidence bag containing a handgun.
"The gun, are you saying that you got something from it?"
The tech produced another folder of paperwork. "We compared the bullets still in it with ones retrieved from crime scenes. Ballistics proved that this was the gun used in two murders. One was Austin Creed. According to the report, he was the man found killed when Sasha Banks was apprehended."
"That's right." Jericho confirmed. "And the other?"
"One of our own. Lance." The tech said far more emotionally.
"Lance?" Wight asked.
"Lance Storm. My first partner in the Bureau. We were investigating a kidnapping. Son of a prosecutor. We were closing in, but Lance suddenly turned up dead, dumped outside the local precinct. We found the kid off a tip the next day but the prosecutor then disappeared. Word was he moved the whole family across the country. Whole thing seemed fishy, but now I know why. I could have put her away years ago." Jericho slammed his fist down. "So close, so many times. Damn that bitch!" He yelled out.
"Well this is for him. There's a partial print on the trigger." The tech said, passing over one last piece of paper. Jericho took it, read it, and passed the piece of paper to his partner.
"This is it Paul. It's Stephanie's fingerprint. Evidence she fired the gun. We can nail her for two murders, including killing an Agent. Great job guys. She'll never see the outside world again."
"We better get over to Judge Turner. He can't deny a warrant this time." Wight said.
"Grab the paperwork. I've just got to stop by my desk." Jericho said, thanking the techs again as he left. The two went to Jerichos desk, he went to the back of a drawer and pulled out a set of handcuffs.
"Cuffs? Don't you have some?" Wight asked.
"These belonged to Lance. I promised after he died that one day I'd put them on whoever killed him. Today I make good on my promise. Come on, let's get over to the courthouse. It's getting late and we don't want to miss the judge."
A little over an hour later, Wight was again waiting outside the Judges chambers while his partner took another go at convincing the judge to give them what they needed to be able to bring Stephanie McMahon to justice. The judge and Jericho knew each other from way back and they agreed that it was the best course of action for him to speak to the Judge alone. They had been in there for way over 60 minutes, it was long past five o clock, and the corridors were starting to echo from emptiness. It was certainly too quiet for the giant sized federal agent.
When he finally saw the door open, his partner emerged with less than the grin he was hoping to see on his face this time. If anything, he looked in shock.
"Chris? You ok?"
"Yeah. I think so. All this work, all this effort, all this time. And all I get is this." He handed over a piece of paper. Paul took it and read it, getting a confused look himself.
"An arrest warrant for Kane Jacobs? That's good and everything, but it's a consolation prize Chris. Are you telling me that he said no? What's it going to take? Does she have to walk in and confess? I'm going to break that door down and beat a warrant out of him if I have to!"
"Paul, Paul, stop." Chris covered his face with his hand. "I gave you the wrong one. I was trying to fake you out, and did way too good a job. I meant to give you this." He pulled another piece of paper out and handed it over.
"Is this...?" Paul asked as he opened it up. He read it, and looked back to his partner.
"We got it Paul, we finally got it. A legitimate warrant for the arrest of Stephanie McMahon. Signed and sealed. Now we've just got to deliver her."
"So where is she?" Paul asked.
"Either the mansion or campaign headquarters. But we can't hedge our bets, we have to know exactly where she is when we move on her. Luckily we actually know. Picking today was the right way to go."
"Election Day." Paul said, knowingly.
"Exactly. No way she'll miss the big victory party. Looking the big shot, standing next to her father on TV celebrating his big win." Jericho sounded sincere, but they both knew better, not just from the look on his face.
"There will be a lot of press there. TV cameras, all the papers."
"I heard they were even live streaming the whole event." Jericho added, his smirk not going away. "Gives us time. We need to speak to the local PD."
"Get some backup?" His partner asked.
"Yeah, but we need a lot of it, there will be plenty of police there for security, but I want to make sure there is no way out for her. She tries to run, there need to be enough officers on every exit that she knows the game's up. We need to roll up together and suddenly, so she has no clue she's getting arrested until it's too late. Also, since it's a state warrant, they need to be there to take her into custody, but I'm making it damn clear that I put the cuffs on her."
"What about Jacobs?" Paul asked.
"He's all yours. He's a big guy, but no match for you. Make sure he can't be any use. How you do that is entirely up to you."
Paul cracked his knuckles. "Sounds good to me."
"Right, we've got our game plan. Let's head over to the local precinct. Call the chief on the way, make sure he's in the loop. Then late tonight, we will strike."
"You thought how we are going to handle doing this in a crowd?"
Jericho smiled as they got back in their car. "I think that will make this all the more fun."
A.N.: Thanks for reading, I know this wasn't the most exciting of the story so far, but it will pick up next time. and i do intend for next time to come far quicker..
Jericho got what he came for. Now all that remains is to find Stephanie and take her into custody. Since they know where to find her, that should be reasonable straightforward. Shouldn't it? Let me know what you think.
