Letters and Crash landing

Normal POV

It was now early morning in Berk and everyone was up and getting ready to see the final test of Hiccup Haddock the dragon tamer killing the Monstrous Nightmare. People were actually excited to the young viking killing the dragon and they were waiting while Stoick went to get his son ready for today. But what they didn't that the young dragon tamer had ran away from Berk.

Stoick's POV

I was making my from the great hall to the house to get Hiccup ready for his test and I was so happy that my son is going to be one of us today. When I got to the front of the house, I knocked on the front door. "Hiccup?" I said calmly while waiting for an answer. I didn't recieve an answer. 'Maybe he is still sleeping.' I thought as I opened the front door and walked in. "Son, it's time to get up and ready. Your test is today." I said again while looking in the direction of his room. Again, no answer. "Hiccup?" I said in concern before making my way up the stairs. When I made it to the top, I noticed that all of Hiccup's belongings were gone, including his helmet. "HICCUP!" I yelled in panic as I ran around his room trying to search for my son. I looked under his bed to see if he was hiding under there but he wasn't. As I quickly got up, I noticed that on his, his blanket and pillow were gone too but there were three rolled up pieces of paper sitting there on the emptied bed. As I picked them up, I noticed that each one had a name written on them, one for Astrid, one for Gobber, and one for me. As I unrolled the one for me, I noticed that it was a letter and started reading it.

Dear Father,

If you're reading this, it means I'm gone and that you've noticed that all my stuff is gone too. If you're gonna send a search party to look for me, you won't find me. I left after training yesterday while all of you were in the great hall celebrating, took a small boat I made for myself and sailed off to an unknown direction. Before I left, I wrote three letters, one for you, one for Gobber, and one for Astrid. Anyway, if you're wondering why I left, the real reason why is because... I hated it on Berk. I hated my whole life there. I hated lying to everyone about what I did in dragon training and what I was doing to the dragons. I tried to tell you that I didn't want to fight dragons that night but you wouldn't listen to me, you just forced me into training instead. So I tried to get myself kicked out and I thought that if you saw how bad I was doing, you would just pull me out, but you didn't. Instead it just made me more popular and when I picked to kill my first dragon, I was done. You never listened to me before dragon training happened. This was one reason why I left. The other reason was how I was treated. I was your embarrassment, your disappointment. You wouldn't acknowledge me unless I did something wrong. You didn't bother telling me to clean up my mess, you would just send me home and you would clean up my mess instead. I was picked on, teased, beaten, and hated by everyone for the last fifteen years. You knew it happened too but you didn't even bother to stop it. Instead, you just pushed me aside, like you did when you had me work as Gobber's apprentice so you wouldn't have to watch me all day. We were so close back then but for some reason, you just pushed me aside like you hated me like everyone else did. But I didn't hate everyone as much as they hated me. Not even you. So instead of snapping at you and the whole village, I decided to leave and never come back. I don't know where I'm going or if I'll survive but if I do... I'm starting over somewhere new. I can't kill dragons and I won't. So give the honor of killing the dragon to Astrid instead, she deserves it. I'm sorry if I disappointed you again and this is goodbye.

Your son, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

As I finished reading the letter, I realised that I have been a terrible father to my son, and I wasn't there for him when he needed me the most but instead I pushed him aside. "Valka, what have I done?" I said to myself. First my wife and now my son who was all I had left of her. I grabbed the other two letters and made my way outside where I saw everyone waiting to see if Hiccup was coming or not.

Normal POV

As everyone saw Stoick come out, they were expecting Hiccup to come out as well. "Stoick, where's the lad?" Gobber asked the chief but then saw the sorrow look on Stoick's face. "Stoick?" Gobber questioned as everyone started to noticed the look on the chief's face.

"He's gone, Hiccup's gone." Stoick stated.

"Gone? What do you mean gone?" Snotlout asked.

"He left and it's all my fault." Stoick replied as he started crying. This caused the crowd to start asking how, when, and why. "He took everything of his from his room. He-he ran away. He left letters for me, Gobber, and Astrid." Stoick said which not only surprised Gobber but Astrid as well. When Gobber received his letter, he started reading.

Dear, Gobber

What can I say to the guy who knows all? Well, I guess all I can say is thank you. You were like a father to me all these years and have taught me the things that I'll be using for the rest of my life. Not only you were the only that was nice to me but Fishlegs as well who never picked on me, so tell him thank you. If you're reading this old friend, it means that I have already left Berk because I can't deal with being the fake fifteen year old dragon tamer. You were always there for me when I needed someone, so thank you. Stay safe and keep being you.

Your apprentice, Hiccup

When Gobber finished reading his letter, he was shocked that Hiccup said that he was like a father to him all these years and started sniffing at the nice things that Hiccup had said about him.

"Gobber? Are you okay?" Fishlegs asked the blacksmith when he saw him about to cry as well.

"He said I was like a father to him and said not only I was the one nice to him but you as well Fishlegs and he said thank you for it." Gobber said to Fishlegs who was shocked by what Hiccup also said about him as well before he and the blacksmith hugged each other and started crying together. As they both continued doing this, Astrid who didn't know if she was still mad at Hiccup or was feeling bad for him, open her letter and started reading to see why Hiccup wrote this to her.

Dear, Astrid

I know you probably hate me for beating you in dragon training and that you're glad that I'm gone so I won't stop you from killing your first dragon in the ring and bring honor to your family name. I never wanted to beat you, I'm sorry. I did these tricks so that I could be noticed because I never was before and it felt good to have people care about me and take an interest in me but everything I did was all a lie. Instead of beating dragons, I was only bringing out their playful sides. I used an eel to scare the Zippleback because dragons were afraid of them. I used a special type of grass on the Gronkle because the scent of it is what caused the dragon to relax. I used a pressure point on the Nadder by scratching under its chin to put it in a pleasant paralysis. I used a light that the sun reflected off my shield on the Terrible terror to make it chase and try to catch it like a cat. I don't want to kill dragons so to avoid ever having too, I'm running away. You used to be my best friend when we were little but then you pushed me aside to focus more on your family honor when your uncle was killed by the flightmare. For what it's worth... I've always liked and had a crush on you since well were little but I'm sure after this everyone is going to hate me again, maybe even you. So I'm sorry again for taking your spotlight. I never meant to, you're amazing and you deserve the honor. Best of luck and I hope you find happiness.

Your old childhood friend, Hiccup

When she finished reading the letter, Astrid couldn't believe it. Hiccup had a crush on her and she threw him aside to focus more on honoring her family name. She now realized that she should have been there for him instead of focusing on her honor. "By the gods, what have I done?" Astrid said to herself before she dropped to her knees on started sobbing in her hands. 'I'm so sorry Hiccup. I should have been there for you but because of my stupidity, I pushed our friendship aside to become a shieldmaiden. Please forgive me.' Astrid thought to herself.

"Astrid? What did he wrote to you?" Stoick asked. After she heard Stoick asked about what Hiccup wrote to her, she looked at the chief with tears in her eyes still.

"He-He said that he had a crush on me and that I pushed him and our friendship aside so I could focus on honoring my family name. I-I should've been there for him Stoick, but instead, I treated him like he never existed." Astrid said while sobbing. After Stoick listened to what she said, he thought about all the things Hiccup said to them and decided to act now.

"Ready the ships! I want three ships in one group each to search every direction! Find my son, I want my son home!" Stoick ordered.

"Aye sir." Spitelout said before he gathered three groups each to start searching every direction in the archipelago.

'I'm so sorry Hiccup. When I find you, I promise that I will never push you away again and will always be there for you.' Stoick thought to himself before he decided to join the search.

-Somewhere in the South-

Hiccup and Toothless had been traveling for five days and for the first time in his life, Hiccup felt free. They had stopped several times to take breaks and eat. They would rest during the daytime and continue flying at night to avoid being seen by someone. They have flown over Outcast Island, Beserker Island, and so much more. Hiccup didn't want to be seen because if they saw he was, they would let his father know. Not only that but if they found out that he befriended and is riding a Night Fury, he would be considered traitor and Toothless would be killed which is something that he didn't want. While flying, Hiccup began to think about what his father did after reading the letter. He wondered if his father saw him as a disappointment again or that he had set up a search party for him. Not only did Hiccup thought about his father but also about Gobber and Astrid too. He wondered if Gobber would start blaming everyone for his disappearance and wondered if Astrid was happy that he was gone.

Right now, they were flying in a bad storm and were trying to find shelter and wait for the storm to pass. Hiccup had no idea where they were because he'd never been outside the archipelago before. They had to find shelter right away because the metal on Toothless's tail was attracting lightning and was nearly struck a couple of times.

Hiccup's POV

I was trying to use my map to see where we were but the winds were so strong that they were preventing me from look. As I was trying harder, it flew out of my hands and was being blown away. "NO!" I yelled as I tried to reach for my map but failed when it was being blown farther away. "Well that's just great." I said defeated. "How will we find out where we are now?" I asked Toothless who cooed in response. As I was figuring out what to do, I started to see lights in the distance and decided to check it out. As we got closer, I started to see a huge land with lots of structures and a huge building with towers that has cone shaped roofs that was sitting in the water with a bridge connected to land.

"Wow." I said in awe. "Are you seeing this Toothless? This is amazing." I said to Toothless who gurgled in reply. As I was looking over the new land, saw a forest not far from the buildings on land which would be perfect for us to hide and wait till the storm is over. "There's a forest over there that we can use to make shelter and wait till the storm is over." I told Toothless who was beginning to turn towards that direction. Before we could do anything else, Toothless's tail was struck by lightning and began to burn away. "Oh no." I said in worry before I looked over and saw the tailfin broke off. "OH NO!" I yelled out as we began to lose control and crash landed in the opened area of the huge building. When we crashed, I blacked out.
