Explanations Part 2

Normal POV

"Later that night, Gobber mentioned to me and the other kids in dragon training that made me realize why Toothless couldn't fly." I replied. "He said that a down dragon is a dead dragon and what he means by that is if you take their wings and tails, they can't fly and they can't get away. I realized that he wasn't born without a left tailfin, it was torn off when I shot him down. It made me feel guilty that I took something away from him so I decided to give it back by building him a new tailfin." Hiccup said to the king and queen.

"You built him a new tailfin?" The king asked.

"Yes and it actually worked, kinda." Hiccup said which made the the king and queen confused.

"You do you mean? What happened?" The king asked

"Well, this is what happened." Hiccup stated before going into details.

Flashback

"Hey Toothless." Hiccup called out as he was carrying the new tailfin and basket full of fish. "I've brought breakfast. I hope-I hope you're hungry." He said as he placed the basket down and kicked it over with fish coming out. When Toothless saw the pile of fish, he started to appoach it slowly. "OK, that's disgusting. Uh, I got some salom, some nice icelandic cod, and a whole smoked eel." He stated but when he said eel, Toothless started backing away slowling while growling. Confused by this, Hiccup picked up the eel with his fingers and after he did, Toothless growled even more with his head turned to the side. "No, no, no, no, no! No, it's okay." Hiccup said in defense as he thew the eel to the side. "Yeah I don't really like eel much either." He said as Toothless calmed down.

As he saw the dragon started eating, Hiccup slowly started moving around Toothless to get to his tail. "That's it. That's. Just stick with the good stuff. And don't you mind me. I'll just be back here, minding my own business." Hiccup said quietly. When he made it to the dragon's tail, Hiccup set the prosthetic tailfin down, next to Toothless's tail but the dragon moved it away. Hiccup looked at Toothless and was relieved to see the dragon is still eating. As Hiccup tried to put the tailfin next to the tail, the dragon kept moving it. "It's okay" Hiccup said as he tried to hold down the tail. Having enough of it, Hiccup sat on the tail and started strapping on the tailfin. While he was doing that, Toothless stopped what he was doing and was wondering what the human was doing to his tail. The dragon moved his right tailfin and his jaw dropped when he figured out what was happening. While Hiccup was almost done with the tail, he didn't know that Toothless was opening up his wings behind him. When Hiccup was done, he opened the tailfin and examined it.

"That's not bad. It works." Hiccup said right before Toothless took off in the air. When Hiccup felt Toothless taking off, he held on for dear life. Hiccup saw that the tailfin was not opened because of the wind. Right before Toothless crash again, Hiccup opened the tailfin with with his hand and it caused Toothless to fly up in the air, out of the cove. "Oh, my... It's working!" Hiccup said as he was holding the tailfin open. Toothless flew down, back into the cove and started gliding. "Yes, yes! I did it!" Hiccup yelled as he was happy that he managed built something that was actually working. When Toothless saw the human was still on his tail, he did a sharp turn and swung the human off into the water. After he did, Toothless was having trouble flying again and saw that the tailfin was closed which caused him to crash in the water too. "Yeah!" Hiccup cheered as he swam.

Flashback ends

As Hiccup finished the details, the king and queen were speechless of what they heard. 'Not only this boy understand something no else does but he is also an inventor.' They both thought.

"So, after that, I figured that if I could control the tailfin to help him fly, I needed to figure out how. So I built a saddle for him to..." Hiccup said before the king finished my sentence.

"...Help him fly by riding him." The king said as he now understood.

"Yes, exactly." Hiccup replied.

"And did it work?" The queen asked.

"Not really. You see, it was actually missing a few things so I made some few improvements to the saddle." Hiccup said. "I installed a series of cables, pulleys, and gears connected to a set of pedals which lets me control the tailfin with my left foot while sitting on the saddle." Hiccup finished. "It took me a couple of weeks and while I was doing that, I learned a few tricks from Toothless and managed to use those tricks in dragon training which made dragons bring out their playful side without hurting them. It also got me noticed by the whole village even my father and he was proud of me. But all that was based on lies. I did all that in dragon training to make sure nobody got suspicious about me and find out about Toothless. It was working perfectly but that all ended when I was select to kill my first dragon and I refused to kill a dragon because they are misunderstood." Hiccup finished.

"And that what led you to run away?" The king asked.

"Yes. I would do anything to protect Toothless because he is my only friend." Hiccup stated.

"That is... quite a story. How did you survive on your own?" The king asked him.

"I brought food with me and if we ran out, I would fish for more. Toothless would cook mine and he would eat his raw." Hiccup said. "Are you... going to make us leave?" Hiccup asked nervously.

"Hiccup, you said that you left because your tribe wouldn't understand what is misunderstood, correct?" The queen asked lightly.

"Yes, its not fair to the dragons to be killed for being misunderstood. I can't save other dragons but... I won't let anyone hurt Toothless, he is my best friend." Hiccup said. "Why do you ask?" Hiccup asked. The king and queen looked at each other before they looked back at the boy.

"Would you excuse us for a moment, Hiccup?" The king said before he and the queen stood up, walked over to the door, and started silently discussing what they had in mind. "What are you thinking, Iduna?" The king asked her. The queen who is revealed to be known as Iduna, looked at Hiccup who was watching Toothless from the balcony and looked back at her husband.

"Agnarr... he could be the stranger the elder troll forewarned us about, seven years ago." Iduna said to the king who is revealed to be known as Agnarr.

"I was thinking the same thing but I'm not sure if he is the one." Agnarr stated.

"What do you mean?" The queen asked.

"Well, this boy is fifteen years old and is riding on the back of a dragon, a creature I believed was a myth until tonight..." Agnarr sighed.

"But that's just the point dear. Can you not recall what the elder troll said? 'A stranger with a gift of its own from a far away land and holds no fear riding a creature of fire will come to you. The stranger will be the one who can help Elsa control her abilities. I know not when or how...' Just think about it. He's fifteen years old, just like Elsa. He came from a far away land and landed here on a dragon, a fire breathing dragon. A creature of fire. As the elder said, the boy has a gift and his gift is understanding. He saw truth where others see hate and fear... He ran away to keep his friend safe... Agnarr, this could be our only chance. I don't... want to send him away when he could be the one we've waited seven years for to arrive..." Iduna said with worry in her tone. Agnarr closed his eyes and sighed for a moment before he looked at Hiccup who was watching Toothless with concern from the balcony.

"You might be right Iduna. Very well. We'll give him a chance and we'll see if he is the one the elder troll spoke of." Agnarr said to Iduna who sighed happily.

"Thank you Agnarr." The queen said to her king as she hugged him.

"It's quite late to introduce him to Elsa right now. We shall in the morning." The king stated to her.

"I agree." Iduna said as they stopped the hug and smiled as they walked back towards the desk. When they made it, Hiccup look at them with pleading in his eyes.

"Can Toothless and I stay for the night? I promise he won't hurt or bother anyone... We'll stay in the woods and we'll leave in the morning." Hiccup asked softly.

"Actually Hiccup, we would like you to stay because I'd like to ask you something of you for exchange..." Agnarr stated to Hiccup who looked at the king with full attention.

"Well, I-I don't know. What is it that you need me for?" Hiccup asked the king.

"We'd like... for you to help our eldest daughter, Elsa. You see, she's... a lot like you with being... different from the rest of us." Iduna said lightly.

"What is it that makes her... different?" Hiccup asked.

"Well, we aren't sure. All we know is that she is... different, special but given what you've been through with befriending your dragon, we think that... you may be able to help our daughter adjust and learn to not fear being different." Agnarr said.

"I-I suppose I can give it a shot. Where... is your... daughter?" Hiccup asked as he tilted his head a bit to them.

"She's in her room but it's a little late to see her right now. We'll introduce you to her in the morning. We'll give you a room in the castle to stay in." Agnarr said as he smiled softly.

"Thank you... but I want to stay with Toothless for now." Hiccup declined.

"A-are you sure? We just want to make sure that you're safe." The queen asked.

"I'll be safe in Toohtless's wing. It's where I sleep now after we left. I just... don't want him to be alone any longer." Hiccup said as he looked down.

"Very well. You may stay with your dragon until you both can adjust here. We'll have a bedroll brought out to you." The king stated.

"It's okay, I brought my own." Hiccup said which suprised the king and queen.

"You're well prepared, aren't you?" Agnarr asked.

"Well, I packed everything I needed the day I left so yeah." Hiccup replied. "So since I'm now staying here, can I at least know who you two are since I told you about me?" Hiccup asked.

"Of course, it would be rude of us if we didn't introduced ourselves. I am Agnarr, king of Arendelle..." Agnarr said before he gestured to his wife. "And this is my wife, Iduna who is also my beloved queen." He stated.

"So, do I just call you king Agnarr and queen Iduna?" Hiccup asked them.

"No dear. You can just call me Lady Iduna, majesty, or just Iduna. You can do the same with my husband by calling him Lord Agnarr, majesty, or just Agnarr." Iduna stated as she smiled. "And shall we call you... Prince Hiccup?" She asked.

"What... oh no no. Hiccup is just fine your majesties." Hiccup said quickly.

"Very well then. Lets get you back to the stables so you can rest. I'll have our chefs bring you something to eat and in the morning, we'll send a guard to come get you for breakfast. We'll also give you a tour and introduce you to the staff." Agnarr replied.

"Thank you, your majesty..." Hiccup said as he smiled. He thought this would end badly for him and he would be sent back to Berk on a ship since Toothless's tail was destroyed. But it actually ended perfectly and speaking of Toothless's tail, Hiccup would have to ask that if they have a forge, He could use it to fix Toothless's tail. But he'll ask them in the morning. For now, Hiccup was tired and hungry so food and sleep sounded good to him. He shook Agnarr's and Iduna's hand in thanks then offered a bow to them before they exited the room. They returned to the stables, moments later and when Toothless saw Hiccup, he leaped out of the stables and pounced on him. "Aaahhh!" Hiccup yelled out when the one thousand pound dragon pounced on top of him. "I'm happy to see you too bud. Did you miss me that bad?" Hiccup asked as Toothless happily started running in circles around him. As Hiccup was about sit up, Toothless pinned him down again and started licking him. "Seriously? You know that doesn't wash out!" Hiccup yelled out. Agnarr and Iduna giggled as they watched the reunion between the boy and the dragon. When Toothless noticed Agnarr and Iduna, he stopped what he was doing to Hiccup and turned his attention on the two adults.

"Uh Hiccup, why is he looking at us like that?" Iduna asked nervously.

"Well, he's actually curious about you two and is making sure that you're not a threat." Hiccup replied.

"So... how can we let him know that we're not a threat?" Agnarr asked.

"You need to get him to trust you." Hiccup answered before he thought of an idea. "Here, hold your hand out... like this." Hiccup stated as he grabbed one of the king's and queen's hands and directed them towards Toothless who stared at them. "Close your eyes and face other way." He said to them and they did like he said. "Let him come to you." Hiccup stated. Toothless watched them for a second before he closed his eyes and placed his snout into their hands. When Agnarr and Iduna felt something scaly in their hands, they opened their eyes and gasped in shock when they saw the dragon's snout in their hands.

"Hiccup... we don't know what to say. This is truly amazing." Iduna said as she smiles.

"I know. I actually had the same reaction when did the same to me." Hiccup said before he faced his dragon. "Toothless. This is Agnarr and Iduna, the king and queen of this land and... they're letting us stay." Hiccup told the dragon. Toothless looked at the king and queen for a moment and gave them a gummy smile. Iduna giggled at the dragon's action while Agnarr was surprised. Hiccup let out yawn as he and Toothless walked over to the stables. Once they made it, a chef brought out something that Hiccup has never seen before along with a guard carrying a small basket of fish for Toothless. When Hiccup recieved the unknown thing, started to inspect it. It was consisted of two slices of bread with some green stuff that reminded him of Mildew's cabbage, four red circular shaped stuff that was sliced, some pinkish purple circular things with large holes, two squares things that were yellow, and some kind of thin sheets of meat that was in between the bread slices. When Agnarr and Iduna saw the look on Hiccup's face, they thought that something was wrong.

"Is... everything okay, Hiccup?" Agnarr asked.

"Your majesties, what is this thing?" Hiccup asked them.

"It's a sandwich. It has lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and ham which are sandwiched between two slices of bread. Do you not have sandwiches in your homeland?" Iduna asked.

"No, we actually don't have any these back on Berk." Hiccup replied which surprised the king, the queen, the guard, even the chef that his homeland doesn't have any sandwiches.

"Then what do you have back on Berk?" Agnarr asked him.

"Well, we have fish, yak, chicken, mutton, stew, water, yak milk, and mead." Hiccup answered before he took a bite out of the sandwich. When he did, Hiccup started loving the new taste when it made contact with his tastebuds. "Odin's left sock!" He said out loud. Agnarr and Iduna looked at each other and back at Hiccup with worry.

"Hiccup, are you alright?" Iduna asked quickly.

"More than alright. This tastes amazing." Hiccup stated happily. The king and queen, even the chef were relieved that the boy liked the sandwich. "This is way better then everything back on Berk." Hiccup said.

"Well, I'm glad that you like it. I'm sure you'll like the breakfast our chefs will make tomorrow." Agnarr said as he, Iduna, and the chef smiled.

"I can't wait." Hiccup said before he started eating the rest of the sandwich while Toothless started gulping down the fish. There was a moment of silence while the boy and the dragon finished eating.

"Well, I think it's best that we all retire for the night." Iduna said, breaking the silence.

"Indeed. Well, we hope you have a rest, Hiccup. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask the guards. They'll be stationed all night." Agnarr said.

"Thank you again, your majesties." Hiccup replied as he smiled. The king and queen nodded and headed inside, along with the chef. Hiccup watched them leave and after they did, he led Toothless back into the stables. Once they made it in, Toothless lightly shot the ground in a circle and laid himself down. Once he saw the dragon get comfortable, Hiccup pulled out his bedroll and laid it next to Toothless who had his left wing folded out. After the bedroll was finished, Hiccup pulled out his pillow and blanket then laid down on the bedroll as Toothless's wing closed over him. "Night Toothless. We're starting a new life tomorrow bud." Hiccup said to the dragon before he fell asleep. Toothless replied with a croon before he curled his tail around and fell asleep too.

- The next day -

Elsa's Pov

It was early morning and I forced myself out of bed. I rubbed the tireness out of my eyes and looked around my room. 'Another day of being locked in this room.' I sadly thought to myself. The maids came in to help me bathe and got me dressed in a blue royal gown with long sleeves. When they left, I putted on gloves the my father gave me to hide my powers and sat at my desk to review the lessons that I have for today. While I was focusing on reviewing the lesson, my focus was interrupted when I heard a knock on my door. "Who is it?" I asked.

"It's your mother and father Elsa." My father answered from the outside of my room.

"Come in..." I said softly. My parents opened my door came into my room while smiling. "Good morning mother, father." I said dryly as I lightly bowed to them.

"Good morning, Elsa. How did you sleep?" My father asked me.

"Okay I guess." I replied before I saw looks on their faces which made me nervous. "Mother, father, is everything alright." I asked them

"Everything is fine, dear. In fact, you'll be joining for breakfast today." Father said which caused me to widen my eyes.

"You mean... I get to eat breakfast outside of my room, with you, and with Anna?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yes. Not only that but we also got good news for you." Mother said.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"Well, we think we've found 'The Stranger' that the elder troll forewarned us about seven years ago." Father stated. My eyes widened when he mentioned about 'The Stranger' and he says that they found him or her.

"You finally found 'The Stranger'?" I asked them.

"Well, he actually found us instead. Plus, he's the same age as you." My father answered. 'It's a boy and he's the same age as me?' I thought before I grew worried about my parents accidently told him about my parents which would cause 'The Stranger' to runaway in fear. Before I could ask, my mother answered when she saw the look of worriness on my face.

"Don't worry, we didn't tell him about your powers." She said.

"You didn't?" I asked in surprise.

"No. Instead, we told him that you needed help adjusting fro being... different. He told us his story last night after your sister found him in the court yard and we think that... you two are a lot alike." My father said which made me wonder why 'The Stranger' is a lot like me.

"Does he... also have powers... like me?" I asked.

"No... but he does have something that makes him different and people from his land didn't like it." Mother said to me.

"What does he have that makes him?" I asked.

"Why don't you ask him yourself. He's gonna have breakfast with us and if you want, you can tell him about your powers but not while Anna is around. We still don't want her to know just yet so when you see her at breakfast, act like you're... finally feeling better." Mother said to me softly.

"You still... want me to lie to her? I haven't seen her in seven years... she probably thinks that I hate her." I said to them.

"We don't like the idea of lying to her also but we don't have a choice and she believes that you still love her." Father said to me.

"Anna still thinks that I love her?" I asked surprised. My parents nodded and then I sighed. "As you wish mother, father. I won't tell her..." I stated.

"That's my girl, now... just stay here for now. Breakfast will be served at eight and it's seven right now. Your attendant will come get you when it's time. We have to go make sure your sister is up, you know that she loves to sleep in." Father said while smiling. I nodded to them before they left my room. When they were gone, I sat at my desk with a sigh. 'At least doing this will let me leave my room' I thought.
