The Truth

Normal POV

Both Agnarr and Iduna knew they had no choice but to reveal the truth to Hiccup. "How much have you told him?" Agnarr asked curiously.

"I told him about hitting Anna, the trolls changing her memories, what the elder troll told me about needing to control my magic, and... what will help me in my future. I told him that it would be best if you two told him that part." Elsa stated calmly.

"Hiccup, the truth is that when we went to the trolls that night, the elder troll said that he could enlighten us of what will help Elsa in her future." Agnarr started.

"What did he tell you guys." Hiccup asked Elsa and her parents.

"He told us this 'A stranger with a gift of its own from a far away land and holds no fear riding a creature of fire will come to you. The stranger will be the one who can help Elsa control her abilities. I know not when or how... That is all I can reveal to you.' After that we decided that until this stranger arrived, we would lock the gates, reduced the staff, and keep Elsa's powers hidden from everyone... including Anna." Iduna said afterwards.

"And... what does all this have... to do with me?" Hiccup asked now.

"Well... after you told us your story the night you arrived, my wife mentioned what the elder said to us. About a stranger with a gift from a far away land, riding a creature of fire, and holds no fear would be the one to help Elsa with her powers..." Agnarr said softly.

"Okay but... I don't have a gift...?" Hiccup mentioned now still confused.

"But you do dear. You might not have powers like Elsa. But your gift... is understanding things that are misunderstood. We didn't understand Elsa's magic, only that she was born with it and that she had trouble controlling it from time to time. After the scare with Anna, it became worse. Then you arrived, riding a dragon, and held no fear about it. So we wanted you to help our daughter, and you have. Her powers haven't once fallen out of control since you arrived..." Iduna smiled gently.

"But I haven't done anything. I just became her friend." Hiccup shrugged a little.

"My only friend." Elsa added with a light smile.

"Well sometimes... that's all we need. Just like Toothless was my only friend for a few weeks until I made it here and met you. He understood I was different from the other vikings, that I wouldn't hurt him and I understood that he wasn't dangerous. Just misunderstood." Hiccup said lightly.

"And you did the same with me." Elsa smiled.

"But... I didn't know about your powers when I met you." Hiccup stated softly.

"You didn't have to know. You just... accepted her without caring that we said she was different. You didn't even ask what made her different. Even now, you discovered her powers and it doesn't worry or scare you, even knowing what happened." Agnarr told him.

"Because her powers don't define who she is on the inside. Sure she has ice and snow magic, and what happened to Anna... was an accident. Elsa slipped while they were playing and tried to catch Anna so she wouldn't get hurt on the ballroom floor. Her shot missed and hit Anna, it wasn't intentional and if I may... certainly wasn't a good reason to keep her locked up for seven years... I've been around her for a month and I suspected nothing wrong with her, still don't." Hiccup mumbled a bit.

"Its just that... we wanted to keep her safe is all. Her magic is controlled around you..." Iduna mentioned gently.

"Hiccup thinks... its because I'm happy." Elsa said softly now.

"I said it was an idea... but since we became friends, you're always happy and smiling so... it just fits in my eyes." Hiccup shrugged again with a smile.

"Then why are you happy now and not before?" Agnarr asked.

"Well because you locked me in the room for seven years... I couldn't leave, play with Anna, or wander around... I was... always scared of hurting someone when my powers got stronger... I didn't want to touch anyone because I thought I'd hurt them, like I hurt Anna..." Elsa sighed. "When Hiccup came, like the elder troll said... you let me out, and I made a friend. I felt happy again because of it... Though I still hate lying to Anna, she should know too..." Elsa added afterwards.

"I suppose it was wrong for us to keep you locked up dear. We were scared too... seems the elder was right though. Having a stranger from a far away land riding on a dragon with a gift of understanding who became your friend was all you needed." Iduna smiled gently.

"But I'm curious about these emotions, they seem to control your powers. So it is to say with your idea, Hiccup... if she were scared, her powers may spiral out of control again?" Agnarr questioned.

"That's the idea." Hiccup nodded. Elsa thought about what he said and started to remember the times she was scared for a moment then realized that Hiccup was right.

"He right." Elsa stated as Hiccup and her parents looked at her all of a sudden. "I remember that right after I hurt Anna that night, I was so scared that I couldn't control my powers. But when I shook Hiccup's hand after he arrived, my powers didn't even spiral out and I was... happy about it." Elsa finished.

"And that proves my point. You lose control when you're scared but when you're calm or at lease when I'm around you. You have control, as long as you aren't afraid." Hiccup smiled at her.

"So the elder troll was right. You were the stranger he saw in Elsa's future..." Iduna said to Hiccup gently.

"Just as the troll told me. I have to control it or fear will be my enemy... This is... great!" Elsa exclaimed as she threw her arms around Hiccup in joy. "Oh thank you so much, Hiccup." Elsa said happily. Hiccup returned the hug for a moment before letting go.

"I didn't do anything. I'm just as happy as you are to have a friend who doesn't judge me... I started with nothing and now I could have all I ever want all because your parents let me stay here... so thank you, your majesties..." Hiccup smiled, bowing his head to them.

"It was our pleasure, you are a talented young man. It's a shame your tribe never saw how skilled and wonderful you are." Iduna smiled in return.

"Do you miss them?" Agnarr asked curiously now.

"Miss being treated like a dragon almost, causing destruction wherever I went? No. Miss being hated? No. But I do wonder how they are from time to time. They know I ran away... but they don't know that I fly away on a dragon. I left notes to three people explaining why I ran away." Hiccup sighed softly while looking down. Whenever Elsa sees Hiccup looking sad or not happy, she would be worried or concerned about him.

"Hiccup?" Elsa asked catching his attention. "I know that you don't like to talk about your past but since I told you about mine, I think it would be even if you told me yours." She stated.

"Alright." Hiccup sighed. "In my homeland, dragons were always a problem for us. They're constantly raiding our village and taking our food. For the longest, I wanted to be like the other vikings. I wanted to kill dragons too but I wanted too only to get acceptance. My father hated them, especially because a dragon my mother from us when I was just a baby. My father and I were so close back then but then all of a sudden, he started hating me. He said that I was an embarrassment and a disappointment to him. So instead of looking after me, he stuck me under his friend's care. He's a blacksmith named Gobber and I became his apprentice even since I was little, well littler. My father wouldn't acknowledge me unless I did something wrong." Hiccup began softly.

"That's horrible... how could a father hate his own child..." Elsa frowned as she placed her hand on Hiccup's arm comfortingly.

"I guess I reminded him of my mother. According to the village, her origin was unknown. She never wanted to fight dragons and she always believed that peace was possible. Guess because I was so different, they thought that I would be like her and my dad must've hated the memory. Who knows. I never asked. I just brushed it off so I can focus on my inventions... I made alot of them but they would mostly fail and cause destruction to the village. Instead of giving me the chance to fix them, they would shut them down." Hiccup mumbled.

"I've seen your inventions firsthand and I think they are great. Especially that tail you made for Toothless..." Agnarr smiled.

"It's one of my best ones that never failed and since the tools and metals here stronger, the tail is just about indestructible right now." Hiccup returned the smile to him. "Anyway. As I was saying, my failed inventions made me the village trouble maker... the worst viking there, the embarrassment, the disappointment. All the names I was known by and I would get teased constantly. Everyone hated me there. I was picked on, teased, and beaten by the kids in dragon training... I was pretty much the punching bag for them and my father wouldn't do anything about it. He never hit me, but his words hurted me more than the physical beatings I got... The only people who didn't give me trouble were Gobber, Gothi, and Fishlegs..." Hiccup sighed.

"What peculiar names you viking's have..." Iduna stated.

"Yeah... pretty interesting huh. My name was given because I was born early and parents believe that hideous names will frighten off gnomes and trolls... Gobber is the village blacksmith like I said, Gothi is the village elder and healer, and then there's Fishlegs who was one of the kids in dragon training but he never gave me any trouble. I was grateful for that. I have a cousin named Snotlout who liked to beat me up for fun. Then there were the twns, Ruffnut and Tuffnut. Those two were the pranksters who picked on me. Then there was... Astrid." Hiccup said sadly while looking down.

"Who's Astrid?" Iduna asked curiously.

"She's the most beautiful girl on Berk that I used to liked and had feelings for. All the other boys were attracted by her including Snotlout. I even had a crush on her." Hiccup stated. After he said that, Elsa was beginning to feel jealous of some girl attracting Hiccup's attention before she met.

'So this Astrid girl had attracted the attention of every boy in the village including Hiccup? MY HICCUP!?' Elsa thought angerly but she had to keep herself calm.

"Astrid was my best friend when we were little but she pushed me aside to focus more on her family honor when her uncle was killed by a dragon called the flightmare. She never hurt me but she thought I was invisible until training started... She only noticed and spoke to me when I started beating her in dragon training because of my understanding with dragons... I stopped having feelings for her when I ran away." Hiccup chuckled a bit. Elsa calmed down and sighed in relief when she heard Hiccup say that he stopped having feelings for Astrid.

"So who did you leave letters to?" Agnarr asked.

"My father, Gobber, and Astrid. Basically telling them all the same thing. I wouldn't kill dragons. That I hated living there and refused to stay where I was hated and was running away. They probably think that I left on a boat the night before my supposed big exam. They don't know that I left on a dragon, or which way I went. They probably think I'm dead by now. A fifteen year old on his own? Especially a Hiccup, they didn't have high hopes for me. I remember before I left... my father was proud of me but it was all based on lies so... I don't know. I just didn't want that life anymore, that's why me and Toothless set out to start somewhere new." Hiccup smiled.

"Now... you said if you ever returned, you would be marked a traitor?" Iduna stated curiously now. Elsa perked up in worry at what her mother said.

"Yes because I sided with dragons... my tribes mortal enemy, mainly my father's since a dragon took my mother... If they knew what I'd done... letting a dragon go, taining it, helping, then flying on it... I'd probably be killed on the spot. It's treason to them, that's why I won't go back... If I even step foot on that island with a dragon... I'd be killed right away." Hiccup shrugged a little.

"That's terrible... You're safe here, Hiccup." Elsa smiled as she leaned her head on his shoulder lightly.

"No... I'm happy here." Hiccup said as he laid his head on hers. Agnarr and Iduna smiled wide, they already saw it happening and neither of them were going to stop it. HIccup and Elsa had formed crushes on one another. "And here I'll stay. Plus... I think it's time for me to let go of my past." Hiccup added afterwards.

"Really?" Elsa said. "And how are you going to do that?" Elsa asked.

"By abandoning everything I brought back in the archipelago." Hiccup answered. Toothless looked at him instantly with a 'you want to abandon me' look. "Except you, Toothless." Hiccup chuckled as the dragon sighed in relief. Everyone laughed at the dragon's action.

"Well... how about we do that tomorrow. We should all go inside and have dinner before it's late." Agnarr said softly.

"Yes father." Elsa nodded as she and Hiccup got up and walked back to the castle. Toothless started making his way to the stables while Agnarr and Iduna stayed outside for a moment before going back inside. They were so happy that Elsa was in good mood now. Both of their daughters were safe, and happy and it was all thanks to Hiccup coming in their lives.

-The next day-

Hiccup's POV

It was early in the morning and I was packing all the stuff that I have brought with me from Berk except my helmet because it is what I have left of my mother. The reason why I'm packing all my stuff because I'm planning on sending it back to the archipelago as a why to leave my past behind. As I was finishing up, I heard someone knocking on my door. "Who is it?" I asked.

"It's me, your highness. Just want to inform you that breakfast is ready." A male voice said.

"Thanks Kai. I'll be down in a minute." I replied before finishing up.

-Time skip-

It was now noon and we were on our way with our luggage to a royal ship known as the HMS Runeard. I was told that the ship was named after Agnarr's father, King Runeard. As we were making our way to the ship, I began thinking about having my own ship one day. As I was thinking about that, looked over at Elsa and stared at her for a moment. Meeting Elsa was one of the happiest moments of my life. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, more beautiful than Astrid. Astrid may be a valkyrie but Elsa was a goddess. Whenever I'm having a tough time, her smell of lavender always makes me calm. My thoughts were interrupted when Toothless started hopping around us happily and bumped into us a couple of times.

"Toothless! What's gotten into you?" Elsa asked while giggling.

"He's just happy that he gets to come with us." I answered. Earlier, I asked the king and queen for permission to bring Toothless with us so he doesn't feel sad when I'm gone and surprisingly, they said yes. When we got to the ship, were greeted by the captain and his crew on the ship.

"Your majesties, I see that you're all packed. Are we ready to depart?" The captain asked while bowing.

"We are, Captain Anton and if you're wondering where destination is at, Hiccup here will guide us since he knows the way." Iduna smiled as she placed a hand on my shoulder. She is like a mother to me and she and her husband treated me like one of their own.

"Perfect! Let us help you with luggage." Captain Anton smiled as he and his crew started placing our luggage on board. By the time they finished, they helped the royal family first before I could guide Toothless on board. "Set Sail!" Captain Anton shouted at the sailors. "Where to, Prince Hiccup?" The captain asked me. I took out the map of the archipelago to see which direction we need to go to.

"North." I stated as I placed the map down.
