The Nest

Hiccup's POV

It's been eight days since the royal family and I left Arendelle and were just outside the archipelago. Right now, we were below deck resting and I was laying against Toothless resting my eyes while Elsa and her family were just chattering. I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder and saw Elsa standing there.

"Tired?" She asked me.

"Uh... Just a little." I answered before scooting over so Elsa can sit next to me. Once she sat down, I saw Toothless nudging Elsa's hand who just smiled and starting scratching behind his ears which made him purr in reply. "So..." I started awkwardly before I saw Elsa frowning. "Els? You okay?" I asked concerned.

"Y-yeah. It's just... that I never thought that I would be here, traveling with my family again since you're here. If you weren't, I wouldn't be here and still be locked in that room." Elsa confessed.

"Well I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere, Elsa. You and your family gave me something that I never had in a long time... acceptance." I stated.

"Well you never had a good childhood and we wanted to give you a home. Plus, I'm glad you're here..." Elsa placed her gloved hand on my mine. "For me." Elsa smiled. We stared at each other for a moment before I turned to see a crew member came from above deck to inform us of something.

"What is it sailor?" I heard Agnarr asked.

"The captain wanted me to inform you that we just entered the archipelago, your majesties." The sailor informed us.

"Thank you. As you were." Iduna told him who just nodded. I faced Elsa again before getting up and offered my hand to her to help her up.

"You ready?" I asked as she took my hand and got up while smiling.

"I am." Elsa answered.

Normal POV

As they all got up above deck, the captain pulled out his spy glass and started looking to see anything up ahead but saw nothing. "My Prince. Where to now?" He asked Hiccup.

"Just keep heading straight until we find any land so I can..." Hiccup began but stopped as he heard something.

"So you can what?" The captain asked but Hiccup shushed him.

"You hear that?" He asked everyone but no one responded to him. "Listen." Hiccup stated as everyone stayed quiet for a minute before they started hearing what sounds like a man shouting in fear. Hiccup took the captain's spy glass and started looking for the source until he spotted a viking trader ship in the distance.

"What do you see?" The captain asked him.

"It's a viking trader ship that I'm familiar with but I can't place my finger on it." Hiccup answered as he couldn't remember who the trader was. "Uh, we can't just leave them there. They need our help." He groaned.

"But won't they recognize you and tell everyone else, including your tribe?" Elsa asked worried.

"I can't just leave them there. Its not right for me to do that." Hiccup answered.

"Someone, anyone! Help!" The unknown person yelled out as they all listened.

Agnarr knew that Hiccup was right. That they can't just abandon anyone who needs help. "Captain. Sail towards that ship. There's a help in distress that needs us." Agnarr told Anton.

"Yes, your majesty." The captain replied before taking command. "Move into your station lads, there's a distress call that needs help!" Captain Anton shouted out. All the sailors stopped what they were doing and did what the captain commanded. They were now at full speed, towards the distress call. As they got close enough, everyone saw that the trader was being swarmed by a group of little colorful dragons and Hiccup knew exactly what they were. "What are those?" Anton gasped.

"Terrible Terrors." Hiccup answered as everyone looked at him in confusion. "Small stoker class dragons that hunts in packs and can tear their prey apart." Hiccup explained as Toothless growled. Hiccup then spotted the trader in distress who was swatting the little dragons away with a broom.

"Back! Back you!" The trader shouted as he swung the broom back and forth until it was snatched by a Terrible Terror. Hiccup had to act fast before the trader becomes terror food. He started looking around to find something shining before he spotted the queen's tiara.

"My queen! Your tiara!" Hiccup shouted as he held his hand out. Everyone looked at the boy in confusion of why he needed Iduna's tiara. "Trust me" Hiccup stated as Iduna took off her tiara and handed it to him. Hiccup then shined the jewel part of the tiara directly in the sun light and caused a light to be reflected. Hiccup started shining the light around until it caught the attention of the Terrible Terrors as they stopped what they were doing and went after the light. Toothless tried to go after it too but Hiccup told him no. Everyone on the royal ship started giggling as they watched the little dragons chasing after the light like cats. Hiccup then moved the light in the direction of open ocean as the stoker class dragons flew away to go after it. "Yes, works every time." Hiccup sighed as he handed the tiara back to Iduna and went over to the railing to see if the trader was okay with the royal family following behind.

"Oh thank you. How can I ever repay..." The trader stated as he turned to his saviors but became shocked as he spotted Hiccup who was also shocked when he saw the trader's face. The trader is a middle age man with dark brown hair and a long beard tied in a twisted knot. He was wearing a cream-colored dirty sack on his head, a deep blue white-swirled imprinted tunic with a deep red sari over it, and light grey cloth bracers on his arms. He also had a brown belt with a yellow pack and a knife around his waist, multi-colored pinstriped trousers, and light brown boots. Hiccup recognized knew who this is.

"Trader Johann?" Hiccup said in shock.

"Master Hiccup, is that you?" The trader known as Johann asked in shock as well.

"You know this man?" Elsa asked the former viking.

"I know him very well." Hiccup replied before turning to the captain. "Captain, stop the ship!" He yelled out.

"Yes, your highness." The captain stated before informing the crew. After the ship was stop, a gangplank was then lowered to make a walkway from the royal ship to Johann's. As Hiccup made his way towards Johann, he came face to face so the trader could get a good look at the boy while every else stayed behind to wtach.

"Is it really you?" Johann asked.

"It's me, Johann. It's me." Hiccup replied softly. Then out of nowhere, Hiccup was then being hugged tightly by the middle aged man. This caused the guards that were on board on the royal ship to take action, along with Toothless but Elsa gestured them to stand down as they watched the trader crying softly while hugging the prince. Hiccup was surprised by what Johann was doing but then started comforting the man by patting his pack. "It's okay Johann. It's okay." Hiccup whispered to the crying trader who then calmed down and separated himself from the boy.

"Oh master Hiccup, you're alive. I'm so glad that you're here. I've missed you so much." Johann stated.

"I missed you too old friend." Hiccup smiled.

"Where have you been? I was devastated when I heard about what ha..." Johann began but was interrupted when he heard shouting and spotted Toothless behind Hiccup. "DRAGON!" He shouted as he grabbed a sword that was nearby which caused the dragon to become aggressive.

"JOHANN, NO!!" Hiccup shouted as he quickly took the sword away and tossed it aside before moving infront of Toothless. "Toothless, stop! Stop! It's okay! It's okay. He's a friend." He said trying to calm the dragon down. Once the dragon was calmed, Hiccup turned to face Johann. "It's okay, Johann. He won't hurt you." Hiccup informed the scared trader.

"Master Hiccup, what?..." Johann couldn't finish as he was confused of what was going on.

"Uh... Johann, Toothless. Toothless, Johann." Hiccup introduced as the dragon hissed slightly. As Johann was about ask why, Hiccup beated him to it. "Before you ask, I think it's best if I tell you everything because its a long story." He answered as Johann was beginning to calm down and trusted the boy.

-Time skip-

When everyone was inside the captain's cabin, Hiccup told the trader everything from befriended a Night Fury to living with the royal family as a prince. When Hiccup finished telling Johann everything, the trader was beginning to feel bad for the boy and was shocked that Hiccup told him that he manage to befriend and trained a Night Fury. What shocked the trader even more was that Hiccup is now a prince in a southern kingdom far from the archipelago. "That's alot to take in, master Hiccup. I'm just sorry to hear about the reason why you left Berk but other than that, I'm just glad that you're alive and doing well." Johann stated.

"Anyway, that's enough about me. What are you doing all the way out here, Johann?" Hiccup suddenly asked.

"Well I'm glad you asked, master Hiccup. You see, I was on my way to Berk after I left the northern markets when all of a sudden, those Terrible terrors came out of nowhere and started to raid my ship for anything they could find. But I should be asking you the same thing." Johann told Hiccup.

"Well you see, the reason why we're all the way out is because... well..." Hiccup tried to explain before Elsa finished what he was trying to say.

"Hiccup wanted to come back here so he could get rid of the stuff he brought with him as a way to forget about his past." Elsa explained for Hiccup. Johann thought for a moment before he thought of an idea.

"Master Hiccup, what if I took your things from you and deliver them to Berk." Johann offered the young prince who was surprised that the trader would offering to do something like this but is not sure about it.

"I-I don't know, Johann." Hiccup replied.

"Listen, I know that you had a rough life on Berk but all I want to do is help you." Johann offered. Elsa placed her gloved hand on top of Hiccup's to help comfort him.

"You won't tell anyone of where he's been or about Toothless?" She asked the trader.

"I promise you, miss Elsa. I won't tell anyone about master Hiccup or his friend." Johann replied. Hiccup thought about it for a moment before answering.

"I need some time to think about it, Johann" Hiccup said to Johann.

"Take the time you need master Hiccup and if you like, I know the closest island nearby so you can all stretch your legs." Johann happily replied.

"I think that's a good idea. What do you think my love?" Agnarr asked his wife.

"I think it's for the best." Iduna agreed.

"Anna?" The king asked.

"I just want to explore for a while." The youngest replied.

"Elsa?" Agnarr asked.

"I just don't want to stay couped up on here." The princess replied. Everyone then laid their eyes on Hiccup, waiting for an answer.

"Lead the way, Trader Johann." Hiccup smiled.

"Great! Now while we're on our way, let me tell some stories of my latest travels." The trader said in joy.

-Time skip-

It was now almost nighttime and everyone were camping for the night on an island that Trader Johann lead them too. Everyone were either on board the ship working or on land resting. Hiccup sitting at the shore with Toothless beside him as they stared out into the sunset. Elsa then came out of nowhere and sat right next to Hiccup. "Trader Johann seems kinda nice." She said to the boy.

"Yeah, he would sometimes come down to Berk with more stuff to trade with. I would always come down to see what he has." Hiccup chuckled.

"My parents were thinking that we could use a trader like Johann to get more stuff we for Arendelle." Elsa stated.

"That... actually doesn't sound like a bad idea." Hiccup replied as they sat there silently for a moment before Elsa broke the silence.

"So... have you thought about it?" She asked him.

"About what?" He asked.

"What Johann offered." Elsa reminded.

"Oh that... yeah." Hiccup relied.

"And?" Elsa asked him.

"I been thinking that... it's for the best." He answered.

"Are you sure, Hiccup? I don't want you taken away." She said in concerned.

"I trust Johann with my life. He's been nothing but nice to me throughout my whole life. I trust him." The boy stated.

"Okay. I just want to make sure you're okay with this." Elsa replied.

"I know." Hiccup said to her. He looked at Toothless for a moment before he thought of an idea. "You want to go on flight with me and Toothless? It might ease us off a bit." Hiccup asked as he got up and offered his hand to her. Toothless got excited instantly when he heard the word 'flight'.

"I would love to." Elsa smiled as she took his hand and got up. Hiccup began working on the saddle before getting on and offered his hand to her again.

"Climb aboard milady." Hiccup said to Elsa who blushed and giggled at the sametime before taking his hand and climbed up behind. "You ready?" He asked her. Elsa positioned herself to get more comfortable before wrapping her arms around his waist.

"I'm ready." She answered. Hiccup then placed his left foot into the stirrup and caused the tailfin to open.

"Lets go bud." He told Toothless as the dragon launched straight up into the sky.

-Fifteen minutes later-

Hiccup, Elsa, and Toothless have been in the air for fifteen minutes and it was now nighttime. Toothless was gliding across the ocean while Hiccup and Elsa were enjoying the cool breeze that was being blown in their face. Unkown to Hiccup, Elsa has been staring lovingly at him for a while and didn't want this moment to end. This was her chance to confess her love to him with a kiss. "You know, I always wondered what it was like to be up above clouds and now I know what it feels like because of you." Elsa sighed.

"I know, right? Ever since I meet Toothless, going on flights with him has become my most favorite thing now." Hiccup replied.

"I can see that." Elsa smiled. 'This is it, Elsa. This is your chance to confess your love to him and claim him to be yours, forever.' She thought to herself.

"You know, Elsa. Meeting you has been one of the happiest moments of my life." Hiccup said to her, unkown that Elsa was reaching her hand out towards his face. "I'm just glad to be here with you." He finished as he felt her gloved hand cupped his cheek and made him face her.

"Me too, Hiccup. Me too." Elsa said to him before leaning in with her eyes close. As Elsa was about kiss Hiccup, Toothless's puplis turned to slits and his nubs started to twitch as he was being lured by some kind of humming. Hiccup's and Elsa's moment was ruined when they felt the dragon dive which caused them to yelp.

"Toothless, what's happening?" Hiccup asked urgently as they flew into fog that can out of nowhere and Toothless was looking around like crazy. "Woah, what is it?" Hiccup asked again when all of a sudden, a roar was heard as a Monstrous Nightmare came out of nowhere with a fish in it's clutches. "Get down" Hiccup whispered to Elsa as they both ducked down. Toothless went to go the other way but flew back when a Deadly Nadder popped out nowhere. Hiccup and Elsa were become scared by this then one by one, more dragons started to appear all around them. Monstrous Nightmares, Deadly Nadders, Hideous Zipplebacks, and Gronckles.

"What's going on?" Elsa asked in fear.

"I don't know." Hiccup answered before looking down at the Night Fury. "Toothless." He said as he laid his hand on the dragon's head. "You gotta get us out of here bud." He told the dragon who just shook Hiccup's hand off. Hiccup and Elsa then widen their eyes in fear as they saw a Nightmare carrying a dead boar. "It looks like they're hauling in their kill." Hiccup said nervously.

"Uh... what does that make us?" Elsa questioned with fear in her voice. They then became more scared when they saw a head of a Zippleback nudging the other head before spotting the two royals on the Night Fury's back. As they went in further, Hiccup and Elsa screamed as Toothless dived down in a steep motion along with the other dragons. As they reached the bottom, Toothless started twisting and turning to avoid multiple rock pillars that were sticking out from the ocean. As they got closer, the humming was getting louder and the two teens could see that they were approaching a huge volcano like mountain. As Toothless glided closer to the mountain with the other dragons, he shot straight into a crevice which caused Hiccup and Elsa to cry in surprise. They then entered what seems to be what seems to be the one thing that Hiccup's people were looking for. The dragons nest.

"What my dad wouldn't give to find this..." Hiccup muttered as he and Elsa saw the dragons were frantically dropping the food the had gathered into a large hole that was emitting a red light and covered with mist. Toothless then flew around until he landed on a ledge that was sticking out of the mountain wall. He slid back slightly behind a pillar to stay hidden, but left enough room for the two humans to see the other dragons dropped the rest of the food before flying away to relative safety on their own ledges. "Oh, it's satifying to know that all of our food is being dumped down a hole." Hiccup exclaimed sarcastically.

"They're not eating any of it." Elsa stated, her tone making it very clear that she was confused of what was going on. They glanced up as they saw a Gronckle flew into the cave with no food in sight. As it stopped and started hovering in mid air, it regurgitated a small fish and dropped it into the hole. They watched as the Gronckle lazily scratched its ear before a loud growl was heard around the whole cavern. The chubby dragon cringed at the sound and started to fly away to safety, but then a huge horned head rose up from the mist and clamped her jaws around the poor dragon, swallowing it whole. Elsa gasped as she placed her hand on her mouth as she watched the poor dragon get eaten alive. "What... is that?" She asked, both her and Hiccup frozen in horror. All the other dragons quickly retreated to their hiding spots as they were scared. This was the Red Death, queen of the nest. They watched as the queen slowly retreated into the mist, only for it to come back up and started flaring it's nostrils at their scent which filled the air.

"Alright buddy, we gotta get out of here." Hiccup whispered to Toothless while leaning forward. The queen kept sniffing until it finally spotted them. "Now!" He shouted. Toothless quickly took off as the queen lunged at them. The other dragons started swarming around them as they flew higher. The massive dragon reached up higher to grab them before a Zippleback flew in it's way as it trapped the two headed dragon in it's maw before dragging it down, allowing the Night Fury and his rider's to escape. Hiccup finally knew the truth behind the raids. He had to find Agnarr to inform him and fast.

Author's note: It took me a while to figure out what I could use for this chapter and I thought of the Frozen episode of Dragons: Defenders of Berk where Hiccup went to find Johann and Chapter five of The legend of the hero dragon rider where Hiccup was surprised to see Johann in a dark alley which led me to write the part where Hiccup along with Elsa and her family meet Trader Johann. So I hope you guys like this chapter and give me some ideas for the Red Death battle in the reviews.

Also, I been hearing some rumors about Fanfiction shutting down so I'm thinking about publishing a copy of my story on Ao3 so I just want to let you know about that because I know that alot of you are liking my story alot and if you want, I could make some Hiccelsa oneshots for you guys so let me know. Anyway, I hope you guys are doing good and I'll make the next chapter soon because right now, I'm taking taking two classes right now at collage. Wish me luck.
