Izuku stood in front of Mufustafu Police Headquarters, just staring at the building. The new building was impressive, built more like a fortress complex than your run-of-the-mill police station. It was an imposing sight, standing four stories tall, the reinforced concrete had a surprising number of windows considering it was made as a fortress to help keep UA safe during the war. Izuku knew though, from his own research that every window was reinforced and bulletproof unless it was hit by an enormous amount of punishment, the building would survive most catastrophes that both nature and man could throw at it. The front, however, was a stark reminder of the battle that had been waged at its gates recently. Scorch marks, bullet damage, and a variety of other damages caused by a multitude of quirks made the front look like an abandoned wreck. The stream of workers, police personnel, and the occasional hero however made it feel anything but.

Izuku heaved a sigh and adjusted the backpack he had, then he strode into the building. He approached the front desk, or what remained of it, and waited while a haggard secretary finished a conversation.

When the conversation ended the secretary sat down in their seat. "Welcome to Mufustafu Police Headquarters, what can I do for you?" he said automatically, making a few inputs into his laptop, not even looking at Izuku.

"I'm here for a briefing," Izuku said simply.

"Name?" asked the secretary, actually looking Izuku over while making another series of inputs.

"Izuku Midoriya."

The secretary made a few inputs, then after studying the screen turned to Izuku again.

"Conference Room 6, first floor," he said, pointing down a hallway to Izuku's right.

Izuku thanked the man and started down the hallway, avoiding getting in the way of repairmen and bustling employees. Eventually, Izuku got to the end of the hallway and made his way up the staircase. When he came out onto the first floor, he saw some damage by the door and halfway up the hallway along the walls, floor, and ceiling. However, the damage quickly faded out and the rest of the building started to look relatively untouched. He made his way down the hallway, and after a few minutes of searching came to the conference room he had been directed to.

He entered and saw a small group of people assembled inside. He immediately noticed Ahmya, who was with a group of other people, likely her squad. On the other end of the relatively small table sat Sōchō Arinobu and another man he recognized to be Major-General Genryusai the commander-in-chief of the QSU.

Izuku immediately went to attention, giving a salute he announced himself.

"Heichō Izuku reporting."

Everyone in the room turned their attention to him, and he saw a few of Ahmya's squadmates glaring at him, but most held curiosity. None held any sort of hostility in their gazes that he could detect, which helped him relax some.

"At ease, you're right on time. Take a seat." Said Genryusai, gesturing to the table.

As Izuku made his way to an empty seat, Ahmya pointedly walked around the table to sit next to him. Izuku was grateful that he wouldn't be alone on one side of the table. Everyone else quickly sat down as well and Arinobu handed Izuku a manilla folder that was quite full, before returning to his own seat next to Genryusai.

"You're probably wondering why I'm here of all people." Said Genryusai, leaning back in his chair and staring at Izuku, as if daring him to speak.

"As it turns out, we can't reinstate people back into the QSU without myself or a senior officer approving it first. I just happened to be closest at the time Arinobu called in about getting you reinstated. Besides, I've been meaning to talk to Police Chief Naomasa and Principal Nezu, so you made a perfect excuse." He said, waving his hand, dismissing Izuku's unspoken curiosity.

"First thing I need to say is that I approve your temporary reinstatement, and authorize you to participate in the upcoming op, commanding Gochō Ahmya's squad as your own. Secondly, we need to bring you up to speed on what exactly the op you'll be participating in is, as I'm sure Gochō Ahmya didn't reveal any classified information when she talked you into helping." He said dryly. Ahmya didn't so much as twitch.

The next few minutes consisted of Sōchō Arinobu and Chief Naomasa filling him in on everything that transpired up to the current situation and answering any questions Izuku might have regarding it.

"Now we get to the present, and what exactly you will be doing in this op." Said Genryusai, pulling out several aerial photos of the compound the hostages were located in. Izuku mirrored him, pulling out the same photos which were marked with notes and directions detailing what exactly the QSU would be doing in the op. As Genryusai talked, Izuku followed along with the photos.

"Your squad along with three others will be deployed via stealth into the compound itself. From there, two squads will breach and enter into two different buildings. The family as best we can tell has been separated. The woman and child in one, the husband in the other, we aren't sure which building has which family member, unfortunately. Your squad, Red 2, will breach Building A from the roof. The Hero Tsukuyomi will fly your entire squad onto the building, and you'll begin a systematic search of the building from the top down while the other squad searches from the bottom up. To ensure the utmost secrecy possible, the use of your firearms is to be secondary. You'll stick to your knife wherever possible, but if you do need to use a firearm it will be with custom Mk IX Ruger's. They will be slide-locked, silenced, have built-in wipes, and you will apply petroleum jelly before you ship out as well. These will be considered on loan, and you will have to return them to us after the mission." He said, hauling a crate into view and opening it as he talked.

As he described the sidearm, he passed out smaller boxes, each containing the weapon, accessories, and necessary ammo. When he had finished passing them out and answering any questions they might have he sat back down. Arinobu was about to speak when Genryusai continued, evidently enjoying giving the briefing and deciding to handle it all himself.

"You should resort to your rifles and regular sidearms if stealth has been completely lost. We will arrange an "accident" to befall the power grid for that area so that there are no working lights in the compound. While we are fairly sure they have generators, they won't be able to power the entire compound with them. If you are discovered, you will switch your radio frequency and emit a broad frequency alert. The enemy will detect it, but they won't be as quick to move as the assault teams will. If you discover and secure one of the targets, you will evac to your entry point. We will have watchers in place to inform us of your arrival, with or without the targets. If you sweep the entire building and do not find any of the targets, you will similarly evac to your entry point and take up positions to assist in the assault. When the assault kicks off, the assault teams will breach the compound from eight points and encircle the enemy. Two mobile task forces will stay in reserve in case reinforcements arrive or if the enemy is about to escape the encirclement. Your squad will just need to hold the roof and cause as much damage and chaos within the enemy as possible." Said Genryusai, going through the entire op bit by bit.

There was a bit of back and forth, mostly concerning more exact details, but for the most part, Izuku found it all easy enough to grasp.

"Well, that's all the time I have I'm afraid. I have more meetings to attend too." Said Genryusai, getting up and leaving the conference room.

"Well, all that remains is to introduce you to your temporary squad." Said Ahmya brightly, pointing to each of her squadmates in order.

"The squad Sniper is Seiya, Demolitions is Daichi, Fire Support is Sukōchi, Tech Specialist is Fikusā, and our Civilian Liaison is Kiyori. On the support end, we have Yana as our Tactical Expert and Mumu as our R & D. '' Said Ahmya introducing everyone.

"It's a pleasure to be working with you," said Izuku, bowing slightly in his seat.

"You as well," Said Seiya, also bowing but deeper than Izuku would have expected.

"I know this all rather sudden, and I know we're all still strangers, but-" Izuku started to say, but was cut off when Seiya raised his hand.

"It's true that we're strangers, but Ahmya trusted you enough to have you take her place. That's not something to take lightly, and we don't. If she says you are good enough and trustworthy enough, then that's enough for all of us. We might not all be happy about it, but we have no intention of disobeying any orders you may give. We would never dishonor Ahmya's decision like that." Said Seiya, holding Izuku's gaze, and Izuku could almost feel the trust and loyalty Ahmya's squad had for her.

Izuku glanced over to Ahmya, who was decidedly not looking at anyone, but Izuku could see that her exposed right ear was bright red. Izuku looked back at Seiya, who appeared to be the de-facto second in command of the squad.

"Then I'll be in your care," Izuku said.

"And we in yours." Replied Seiya.

With less than 24 hours remaining until his designated meet-up with the hero Tsukuyomi and eventual mission, Izuku was in the dojo attached to the police department. He'd originally intended to practice alone on some of the dummies available, but Ahmya had been keeping an eye on him and had followed him.

Izuku was in the middle of practicing a series of kicks against a dummy when he heard a voice from behind him.

"Dummies make for poor practice partners."

Izuku turned around and saw Ahmya in her gi, arms crossed with an expectant look on her face.

"Are you volunteering to take their place?" he asked, stepping back from the dummy he had been practicing a series of kicks against.

In response, Ahmya merely got into a ready stance. "Ready," she said.

Izuku got into his own stance. "Ready," he also said.

Ahmya opened with a series of jabs, nothing fancy but quick nonetheless. Izuku deflected them away from his body, then countered with a spinning roundhouse.

Ahmya blocked the strike, then grabbed his leg before he could pull back. She lifted him bodily from the ground and slammed him into the mat. He hit the mat, then rolled backward so he was in a crouch then launched himself into her torso, knocking her to the ground as well.

They both hit the ground, with Izuku immediately going to immobilize her arms. Ahmya let him pin her arms, then dexterously moved one leg between herself and Izuku and flipped him over her head. Once more he hit the mat, and they both scrambled to their feet.

Ahmya took the initiative again by sending a strike to his abdomen. Izuku caught her fist with his own and twisted it away, then still holding on to her fist he pulled her to him. He turned sideways, raising one leg and tucked it into his body, then caught her other wrist when she tried to send an attack at his head. With both of her hands held fast in his grip, he jumped up with the leg still on the ground. He tucked it into his body as well then he let go of both her wrists as he sent a dropkick into her chest, causing her to go flying backward. She hit the mat and rolled to lessen the impact, while Izuku slammed into the mat.

They got to their feet and realizing the fight had reached a breakpoint, started to stretch.

"Nice kick, gotta admit I'm surprised you had the strength to pull that off. I think only Seiya could manage that, and that is only because he has a minor muscle enhancement quirk. You never stopped practicing after you left huh?" she said, massaging the point where Izuku had landed the kick.

"I go to a local dojo regularly with Mr. Sasakura. He mostly does it to keep in shape and keep his heart strong though. He has a bad heart so it's really important he keeps in shape since he could suffer an attack at any point otherwise. Having him there also helps motivate me as well, I even started helping with the teaching." replied Izuku, walking with Ahmya over to a bench and grabbing his water bottle.

Ahmya did the same and they sat in silence while they drank and rested.

Just then they heard a voice call from behind them.

"Izuku, is that you?"

They turned around and saw Chief Naomasa walking towards them, a smile forming on his face as they turned to face him.

"Izuku, I must admit I'm surprised to see you here, let alone in the dojo." Said Naomasa, a clear question in his voice and eyes.

"Ahh, well I'm filling in for Ahmya as her squad's leader. I assume you know about the mission happening shortly?" Said Izuku, standing up to greet his former teacher.

"I'm aware of the mission, and I'm even more surprised to hear that you're a part of it." Said Naomasa.

"I asked him to do it, the people being held captive are my sister, her husband, and her newborn. Izuku agreed to lead my team on a special one-time reinstatement of his prior rank." Said Ahmya.

"I see. Well apart from that, how have you been? Last I heard you were working at a private bar." Said Naomasa, taking a seat.

Izuku sat down next to his former teacher and started to give him a rundown of recent events.

"Recently a few young heroes have started to come by. Uravity, Froppy, Creati, Pinky, and Earphone Jack to be precise. It was the first time I had met heroes of my own age. It was nice, talking to them, but also exhausting. Pinky especially, she's so upbeat that you'd think she'd never been a part of the war. Meeting someone like her... well, it was nice to know that there are still people like that out there." Said Izuku, recalling the scene wistfully.

"She is quite the handful, but she and her entire group are as reliable as they come. It won't be long until they start to become permanent fixtures in the higher rankings. Dynamite and Shoto have already found themselves in the top 10 despite their youth. Though, perhaps that's more a negative than a positive. The more well-known you are, the harder you are worked. I imagine the same can be said of you." Said Naomasa looking over to Ahmya.

Ahmya nodded and grimaced as she answered. "After I got my new eye, people started paying a lot more attention to me. Then when we started to show solid results, they just kept increasing our workload. Never enough to run us ragged, but we were always at that threshold. Eventually, it wasn't our bodies that gave out but our minds and spirits. Yana had a full-on mental breakdown, and that's what finally got our superiors to remove us from active duty to recuperate."

After that, Ahmya and Naomasa went back and forth, complaining about the workload of late and the expectations that had been placed on their shoulders. Ahmya was known for her squad's excellent skills and consistent results during the war and Naomasa as the relatively new police chief. Izuku felt rather out of place in the discussion and contributed little to the overall conversation.

"Well, I'd best be going. Good luck with your mission. Come back safely Izuku." Said Naomasa, waving as he left.

"You should probably get going as well, clean up and get ready to meet up with Tsukuyomi." Said Ahmya, getting up from her seat and stretching, then holding a hand out to Izuku.

Izuku took it and she pulled him to his feet. "Yeah you're right, thanks for sparring with me," he said.

"No problem, and while I know you'll be fine. Just... stay safe, okay?" she said, some of her usually well-disguised worry coming to the surface.

"I'll be fine, and so will your team. We'll all come back okay and with your sister and her family in tow." He said, putting as much confidence into his voice and expression as he could muster.

Ahmya just smiled and put her hands into her pockets. "You better, see ya Izuku." and with that, she left the room.

Izuku sighed and headed into the locker room to grab his stuff.

A few hours later, after having showered, changed, eaten, and taken a nap. He was back in his old pre-mission gear and heading towards the small conference room where his squad and the hero Tsukuyomi were to meet. The armor he was being loaned, Ahmya's helmet, and his weapons were currently going through pre-mission checks and maintenance. He opened the door and saw the rest of the squad present, but the hero absent. No one was seated, they were all too keyed-up to be able to relax enough to sit and everyone was just a tad bit fidgety.

"Well you're here but no hero, think he got lost?" said Daichi smirking.

"Wouldn't surprise me, the building has had a lot of renovations done to it," said Mumu, idly messing with a lighter that she would flip open and closed every once and while.

Izuku went over to where Seiya, Yana, and Fikusā were standing, various floor plans of the building they were going to be infiltrating laid out.

"Any obvious problems?" Izuku asked as he took up a position on Seiya's right.

"Obvious? no. The floor plans we have are more than a decade old, and while they will give us a solid grasp of the layout there has likely been remodeling done on the interior. Secret cameras, hidden passages, gun slits, and manual alarm triggers, are all highly likely in a compound like this. So far we've been going through and marking likely locations for such obstacles." Said Seiya, making another mark on the layout with a red pen.

Izuku studied the layout of the building, floor by floor. He made a few marks of his own on some of the middle floors before the door opened and the hero Tsukuyomi walked in.

"I apologize for being late, conference room designations have been shuffled around since I was last here, and I got lost for a few minutes because of it. I'm the Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi, but it would probably be easier if you all referred to me as Yomi." Said the hero, bowing as he entered.

The squad in turn bowed, then Izuku spoke up.

"I'm Izuku Midoriya, the squad leader. It's a pleasure and an honor to be working with a hero of your caliber. We will be in your care." he said, a hint of his boyish enthusiasm leaking out.

"As will I, I look forward to working with you all. I've not had much interaction with the QSU, so I look forward to seeing what I can learn from you all." He replied.

Izuku then introduced the hero to the rest of the squad before motioning the hero to join him by the floor plans.

"We've marked out locations where hidden obstructions might be located, the plans are old so we can only rely on them for getting a general layout. Don't bother with the bottom three floors. If our target is in the building they'll be located closer to the center of the building. It's the easiest place to keep them, and to defend as an attacker would have to go through several floors to get to them, which would buy them enough time to evacuate the prisoners or execute them. I've decided that we will land on the roof, but skip the topmost floor entirely by going through a window on the second floor from the top." Said Izuku, pointing out the window in question.

"This is assuming we can get away with it, otherwise we'll go through the top floor as originally planned. We'll have to move fast to take advantage of the power outage until they power up their generators. We need to get through as much of the building as possible. Surveillance systems are to be prioritized, when the power comes back on I don't want any cameras seeing us in the middle of a hallway where it would be too late to react. In case we miss any though, we will be planting chaff detonators on every floor we leave behind us. When the power comes on, Yana will hit the switch and disrupt any lingering electronics. From that point on, we'll toss a chaff grenade down every hallway ahead of us then clear it." Said Izuku, making additional marks on the floor plans. By this time the entire squad was now examining the maps.

The hero nodded along as Izuku detailed more of the plan, occasionally asking for clarification but for the most part, Izuku was relieved at how quickly the hero picked up on his plans and strategies.

"You'll be in the middle of the formation, you will be best positioned to move in and assist wherever you might be needed when we are moving through corridors. When we are clearing rooms, however, I want you upfront. Your quirk is incredibly useful for this sort of mission and I want to take full advantage of it." Izuku said, finally finishing his small briefing. As infiltration missions went, it was more detailed than some but was otherwise standard. Best not to do anything unique, since if anything went wrong they would be out of luck.
