Why hadn't it worked? What was happening? A silence descended on the hall with the sound of feet running. The muggles made it outside. She saw the wizards they were fighting against leisurely collecting themselves. None of their wands were in an offensive position. They were gathering themselves from the floor and getting into what seemed to be a formation but she couldn't tell if any of them were causing this. Dorcas felt like they were preparing for something, that something bad was about to happen.

"Get these muggles out!" She yelled at Gideon who looked around in horror.

"What's going on?" She asked Alastor who was now at her side.

"I- I don't know," he stammered.

Emmeline came to their side. Her face blanched. Dorcas had never seen and would never see Emmeline look so scared.

"What's happening?" she whispered.

Gideon tried to apparate but felt like he would get stuck and then splinched. He couldn't drop into it. Something was happening in that room. Their magic no longer worked. Voldemort's disciples seemed to be effected also seemed not at all bothered by the change in events as if this were the most normal thing. Dorcas picked up a chunk of the floor and batted it with her wand.

"Good enough." she muttered. The hunk of floor zipped through the air. Knocking a disciple on the shoulder. Their magic did work then, the radius had changed somehow. She didn't think too much about it. Edgar picked up a chunk of something and sent it flying across the room and a wizard howled holding his hand to his head checking for blood.

Emmeline looked around. She shook as she called something to her and it didn't move. She stumbled away from the other members of the Order dazed.

"My magic doesn't work. It's not working." Emmeline said plainly.

"Yes it does!" Dorcas said as she picked up another piece and hitting it with her wand. She didn't have time to explain inertia. She didn't have time to explain that the magic they could access would carry whatever they could get their hands on across the room. There remained a small group of muggles tucked behind the line of Voldemort's people who started to scatter at the flying debris. One larger group and a smaller one against the wall shielding themselves against anything that might miss their targets. The young looking blonde boy cursed was hit on the ear and swore in what sounded like another language. Dorcas was about to send another handful of floor across the room when she caught whatever Edgar sent across the room explode on the wall above the group of muggles. Dorcas turned towards the windows above them again and they shattered. Everyone turned momentarily but she knew it work this time without having to turn to look. Alastor was just behind her and the small, thin pop of Gideon apparating as he appeared next to the group.

Dorcas spell collided with another tall, dark haired man's midair and fell to the ground as a great bluish crystal that shattered when it hit the floor. She just made out Gideon disapparating and heard a scream that sounded far away and close. An arc of blood materialized in thin air and two bodies followed and fell on the ground just short of the door. The muggle who had taken Gideon's hand was screaming, splinched, and Gideon's clothes were red and wet with her blood.

They didn't have time to attend to them. Alastor.

"Him." Alastor nodded as he ran to cover the muggles. Dorcas spell hit the boy and doubled him over winded.
They couldn't afford for that to happen again. Emmeline was shaking uncontrollably.

"Edgar, get her out of here!". Dorcas yelled running toward the back of the bank. Not a moment sooner there was a crack of lightning that lit up the high domed ceiling. The sound of thunder filled their ears, shook the building and the muggles outside of the shielding charm jumped away from the bank. Alastor raised his arms as the wall fell above the muggles.
