This is probably the first and last time I would use Cal's pov. It's a chapter to basically show off his Jedi abilities to sense the past in objects. Enjoy and remember I'm just writing for fun and anything that seems 'non-canon' or 'non-star wars' is probably something of my own invention. (Also very new to this!)

A Destined Meeting

(Cal's Pov)

Laser fire zipped passed Cal Kestis's face as he jumped off an old wind propeller. He ignited his lightsaber and beam of blue hissed out. There was another blaster fire which Cal deflected the last blaster shot towards the stormtrooper, hitting him directly in the chest.

Then a shock trooper ran towards him, electrifying his baton and swung it at Cal. He paired it and as the trooper stumbled, Cal kicked him in the chest and lashed at him with his lightsaber.

"Beeoop." A little droid hanging off Cal's back chimed in concern.

"It's alright BD-1, that should be the last one." Cal said, dissenting his lightsaber. He looked around the abandoned village. The empire had removed the locals and transported them off world while they undertook their mining operations and secretly look for the Zeffo tomb. But Cal felt the presence of a force-user. He hadn't told Cere as it was only for a brief moment, but he wanted to investigate it before adventuring into the tomb.

"Something or someone was here… a Jedi… like me…"

There were tracks on the ground that looked like someone had fallen over, perhaps struck from behind. A surprise attack. There turned to face their attacker and pushed them away with the force. Cal looked over his shoulder at some other tracks of someone being thrown back. There was a tingle of the force power in the air and an invisible thread that was leading him to whoever was here.

"Always trust in the force." Cal muttered.

He followed his instincts to a small hideaway a few yards away from the village, the was a hidden entrance, tucked beneath some crates and draped cloths.

"Beeeop bwoop."

"Yeah, looks like there were a few people who resisted the Empire's invasion." Cal stepped into hideaway and found makeshift workbenches and a couple of roll matts. "Two people slept here." He wandered over to one of the workbenches to find sketches and some documents listing findings and planet matter. "They were researchers, archaeologists looking into the Zeffo… would that be why a Jedi is among them? Maybe it's Cere's old Master."

Cal felt a familiar hum of the force coming from a satchel that was left in the middle of the room. He picked it up and looked inside. There was a metallic box that held a strong presence of the force, Cal took it out and opened the box. He found a hand-made necklace and a two lightsabers. Both of them had different charms hanging off the handle.

"Another Jedi…"

He closed his eyes as he touched the necklace and saw in his mind someone else's memory, an echo of their life force. A young Togruta girl ran with a young boy, through colour grass lands, Cal couldn't make out their faces as the suns' lights were blinding the memory. Laughing and singing as two suns were setting in the horizon. Cal tranced the necklace's cravings, they were hand-made and it took the maker many nights to complete, but they were happy when the Togruta girl's eyes lit up in wonder. The memory was slowly fading away, along with a song that echoed in Cal's mind, a sort of lullaby:

Tis night my dearest star child,

Rest and dream, I will meet you soon

In wandering meadows of memories the wild

Darkness, I will keep at bay. As your moon

I will shine away your tears a fright.

Chase the dark forces and shadows away…

I will meet you soon, wait for me…

"Drop the bag." A voice commanded behind him, there was a click sound of someone setting a trigger on their blaster. Cal's eyes swung open, and he immediately turned to see a human woman holding a battered imperial blaster, step out from the shadows.

"Are you a Jedi?" Cal said, gently closing the lid to the box and placing it on the ground, his fingers then reached for his lightsaber.

"No." The woman was in her late forties. She had a traveling cloak over her shoulders and wore a dark green bucket hat, that covered her curly, slightly greying, brown hair.

Cal looked at her, the way she moved, her eyes piercing through him and the steadiness of her hold on the gun. She didn't look like she had much experience, perhaps most of it being recent and more close combat and defence than from a battlefield. Her clothing was loose and non-protective, she was one of the villagers, Cal assumed. But that didn't explain why they would have two lightsabers. His mind raced with different possibilities, were these Cere's old Master's? Or a Jedi who died in the purge? Perhaps they came from the crash sight he noticed in the east.

"Did you kill this Jedi? Where are they?" Cal's mind jumped to this thought. Could this woman have killed a Jedi or hand them over to the imperials? His fingers itched closer to his own lightsaber. He was letting his feelings cloud his judgment, but he learnt to not trust anyone.

"No. And I'm not telling you where they are. You could be one of them."

Inquisitors. Former Jedi turned to the dark side, who hunt remaining force-wielders and force-sensitive children. They started turning up a few years after the clone wars. They were ruthless in the brutality and search. Cal had already met two of them, the second and ninth sister. Their power was dripping with dark force energy. He noticed that the woman confronting him gripped her blaster more tightly, but now her hand was shaking a tiny bit.

"I'm not one of them, trust me."

The woman narrowed her eyes, "How do I know I can trust you?"

Then BD-1 popped up from behind Cal's shoulder, "Bwooop beep." It called.

"Huh? So you are a Jedi? One from the clone wars?" The woman looked surprised and lowered her blaster.

"I am." Cal said, then sighed sadly, "Probably the last one of my kind."

The woman twitched and looked away from Cal. She was debating within herself about saying something. Settling on a decision she said, "Not quite..."

She holstered her blaster and walked up to Cal. She grabbed the metal box and satchel and stuffed it back inside. "The owner of these sabers is also a Jedi."

"Where are they." Cal said. His heart lunched in his chest. Another one like him. Were they a knight or one of the masters?

"They're safe, but…" The woman looked down and chewed on the bottom of her lip, "Something happen to her… she has no memory of being a Jedi and if she tries to remember it… causes her pain." The woman went on to explain when she found the Jedi, locked inside an escape pod hustling through deep space. It was lucky that they found her in time as the oxygen level was almost depleted. She told Cal that she suspected the person was a Jedi from their clothing and the fact that they still held the two lightsabers in her hands.

Cal felt the force pull again at the box. It was as if the force was directing him to meet these Jedi. Perhaps help them?

"What's her name?"

"Fel Kom… do you know her?" The woman asked, looking up at Cal. Almost pleading to him to know who Fel was, but Cal didn't know a fellow Jedi by that name. He tried to remember the younglings he trained with in the Jedi temple. There were a few that were training alongside him, but he couldn't remember a Fel Kom being among them.

"I'm sorry. No…" He said. The woman sighed in defeat.

She was about to say something, but a large thumping footsteps stopped her. Cal knew it was one of those AT-ST. The stormtroopers he killed early must have called in for back up. The woman took out her blaster and handed Cal the satchel.

"Look I've been researching the history of this place and its very connected to the force. It could perhaps help Fel regain her memories. I don't know why you're here, but I think you can help her."

Cal felt a tug in the force, almost pulling him forward as the woman said the Jedi's name. He took the satchel and nodded, "I'll try."

The woman smiled, "I never caught your name?"

"Cal. Cal Kestis."

"Dr Rena." The woman reloaded her blaster and pointed it at the entrance to the hideaway, "Well Cal let's see if you are one of the good guys. The imperials have found our hideaway."

Dr Rena shot the solider who exited the AT-ST, "Always hated these things." She threw her blaster away, "So uncivilised. Dam thing jammed. I wouldn't normal use a blaster, I prefer a duster and scanner."

"Why are you out here anyway?" Cal said, hooking his hand through the satchel. BD-1 hopped on to it and clung the satchel like he did on Cal's back. "I thought the Empire drove the villagers away."

"They did… but there's something here that I just couldn't stand them getting." Dr Rena lifted her hands to the mountains that stood tall as the backdrop to the village. "There was a ancient civilisation, now long gone. I wanted to learn why and what their connection was to the force."

Cal thought for a moment and then said, "Did you know a Master Eno Cordova? He was here a while ago."

A faint knowing smiled graced Dr Rena lips, "Yes I did, a few years ago during the war. He helped out in the survey. He also had that droid with him." She waved at BD-1.

"Do you know what he was looking for?"

"Something to do with Jedi and hiding something I think." Dr Rena sighed, "That was how much he told me anyway. The day the Empire rose, I was off planet… picking up a deliver on Ulv… we were entering the outer rim when I found Fel and learned the war had ended. I'm sorry."

"Sorry?"

"About the Jedi, not all of them could have been traitors. Especially those children…"

Footsteps fast approached them. From out of nowhere Cal and Dr Rena were surrounded.

"Shit."

They took cover behind some crates as the troopers started firing at them. Dr Rena patted herself, seemingly looking for something. She pulled out a small spherical object and threw it over her shoulder. Cal watched the ball fly through the air and hit one of the troopers in the head. Knocking them to the floor. It then beeped wildly and exploded sending all the stormtroopers into the air.

Cal looked at her a little shocked.

"What? Archaeologist can fight." Dr Rena said, as she moved from behind the cover. She didn't see an unharmed stormtrooper taking aim. The trooper fired at her and shot her through her shoulder. When he went for another shot, Cal jumped out and deflected the blast back to him.

"There's always that sneaky one." Dr Rena cursed.

Cal helped her stand, "Are you going to be alright?"

"Yeah, let's just get back to my ship. I've got a droid that handles these things."

Then there was an explosion that shook the ground, the vibrations felt like it was coming from deep within the mountain, in the area where Cere said there was a Zeffo tomb. A bell toll rung in Cal's head and an ancient voice drifted in the air.

Heartless…

The key…

Listen… chimes…. below

"What was that? Did you hear that voice?" Cal said.

"What voice? Look, I have no idea, but it can't be good. Come on." Dr Rena turned and ran towards the direction of her ship, clutching at her shoulder. "Let's get back to my ship. Fel should be there."

Cal followed but checked in with Cere back on the Mantis, "Hey Cere did you guys feel the earth move just now?"

"We didn't feel anything Cal. Why what's happening over there?"

"Just a little earthquake… Nothing to dangerous just a small quake." He paused, should he mention the other Jedi. What would Cere say? Would she choose her over him to find the holocron? "I may have also found another Jedi."

"Another Jedi?" Cere said, surprised like Cal was, "Are they from the main temple?"

"I'm not sure. I'm on my way to find out."

"Well, be careful Cal it could be an inquisitor trap."

"I'll be okay Cere; I've got BD with me." Cal smiled as BD-1 made an excited noise behind him, "Let's go BD-1." Cal followed after Dr Rena.
