Another chapter. A slow burn but only because the story and action coming along slowly. The story will follow the events of the video game for the most part, but i also want to tell Fel Kom's story as she recovers her memories and battles the unknown. Also Dr Rena's ship is called C.O.M.3.T, which was inspired from when she first met Fel and needed a name for her ship.
Again, EA and Lucasfilm own Star Wars, i just own my characters and the plot :)
The Call to Adventure
Fel made her way back to the abandoned village, where there were now a few bodies of stormtroopers and on blown out AT-ST. All shot by blaster fire. Rena was here, Fel could feel an echo of the Doctor's presence lingering on the wind. She stuck out her tongue to taste the air, an old trick that came to her sometimes, but Fel didn't know how she learnt it. Dr Rena had a distinctive tell-tale marker, Royal Fluzz and fresh earth. Rena always loved the purple flower that grew of the cliff edges around the village and Fel would often sneak out in the middle of the night to gather some to surprise the Doctor at breakfast.
Someone was with her; a human male, young and smelt like fuel, probably works, or worked at some point in a scrapper's guild. Off world, not from these parts, for sure. There was a droid with him, not trailing behind him like those R units. No, this droid was small. Small enough to travel light, either in a bag or dangling off someone's shoulders. There was something about this human that felt familiar to Fel, but she couldn't figure out what it was. There was an ancient power surrounding him and Fel somehow felt relaxed, and a sense of peace washed over her.
Then there was a sharp pain that came from her chest to all the way to her head. It was the beginning of those headaches again. Fel shook free of the familiar feeling and instead tried to focus on locating Rena. Fel closed her eyes and knelt down to the dirt. She listened to the world, its voice calling to her, the animals, the wind, and the many footsteps of stormtroopers. Focusing on Rena light footsteps, Fel could feel her moving in the south-eastern direction. Was Rena going back to the ship? That human male was following her… was she in trouble? There was that explosion… But it wasn't surface level, no it was something deep within the mountains. Fel looked around at the scene before her. These bodies… was her scenes wrong? Was the man actually an Imperial solider or spy?
"Shit…" Fel said, as she quickly stood up. She was about to run, but a haunting voice stopped her.
Heartless one, hear me.
Fel looked around, but there was no one around. The voice wasn't coming from anywhere but everywhere at the same time.
The key to you memories is close... listen for the wind chimes down below...
Use the box, and recover a part of yourself…
There was a pull to enter one of the Zeffo Sage's tomb, something was down there that wanted her attention. Fel hadn't felt anything like this before in the five years she had been on this planet. There was a calling, coming from down below…
Fel shook her head, she needed to focus on what was at stake. Rena could be in trouble, or worse. She took off, unholstering her blaster.
Fel peered around the corner where her starship was. The human man was there with his back away from her. She tried to see if Rena was around but couldn't find her. There was clunking and objects being moved in the ship, but no sign of Rena. The voice from before returned, but this time it was different, it was within her own head this time and it growled and mixed with her own voice.
He must have killed her… He killed your only friend, the only person who looked after you… And she is gone… he did it… he's the one who killed her… He must di-
Fel felt a hot burning sensation in her chest, her hands began to shake, and her mind clouded with despair and anger. She pulled out her blaster and jumped out. Fel fired an array of shots at the human man. There was blur of illuminated blue, a high crackling hum and the blaster shot bouncing away from the human man. The shot reared towards her, but Fel took a sidestep and avoided it with ease. The man was slouching slighting and held what looked like an electric sword.
"Where's Rena?!" Fel screamed. She stared at him, and then at the laser sword in his hand. It seemed familiar to her, like she had seen a weapon like that before. They looked similar to those she found in the box. Fel tried to bring a memory to mind but was met with a throbbing sharp pain in her temples.
"Whoa whoa hold on." He spluttered. The human man's eyes were wide, he must have thought she was a stormtrooper as the angle of the defective shot he pulled narrowly avoided her.
"What have you done to Rena?"
"Nothing I did nothing!" The man held his hands up. "Look, you're Fel right? Fel Kom?" He returned his weapon to his belt. "Doctor Rena?" He called out over his shoulder.
Behind him the familiar head of Doctor Rena popped up from the cliffs edge. Fel sighed in relief and lowered her weapon slightly, "Rena, you're okay."
Doctor Rena climbed up and ran over to Fel, "Thought I told you to stay with the ship." She had her hands on her hips. Fel looked over her and noticed there was a graze of blaster shot on her cloak.
"There was an explosion and I thought you were in trouble." Fel bite her lip, "What happened to you?" She pointed to the graze.
"Oh, it was nothing, just an Imperial catching me by surprise. Cal here was the one who saved me." Doctor Rena walked over to the man and turned to Fel, "He's a Jedi."
"A Jedi…" Fel repeated. The presence she felt in the courtyard and the one the stormtrooper was talking about, was this man? Looking at him, Fel felt he was lacklustre to be representing who or what a Jedi was supposed to. He was young, probably the same age as her and she didn't picture someone like him when Rena first mentioned the Jedi. Though what would a protector of the force look like anyway. Or a Republic traditor for that matter.
The man stepped forward and introduced himself, "I'm Cal, Cal Kestis." He held out his hand. Fel looked at his hand and then at him.
"Nice to meet you, Kestis." She didn't move, she couldn't. something about the man felt too familiar and Fel felt the nagging ache of her headaches coming on. Cal's hand floated awkwardly before he pulled back and straighten up.
"This is also BD-1." Cal said, as a little droid jumped up from his shoulder and scuttled over to Fel. She bent down and patted the droid's head, much to its delight. Cal rolled his eyes at the attention. BD-1 then stepped back and started to scan Fel. This startled Fel as she moved back and pulled out her blaster.
"Hey, hey BD what you doing?" Cal moved to scoop up the droid, "Its rude to scan people. Sorry." He moved BD-1 back to his shoulder.
Fel slowly lowered her blaster again, "An exploration droid…"
"Yeah, found him on uh… well some place far away. He's being a great help so far aren't buddy." Cal said, smiling at his metal friend.
"Cal's on his way to the Zeffo Tombs." Dr Rena said, looking over her shoulder at Cal and then returned her gaze at Fel, "I think you should go with him."
"What?" Fel crossed her arms, "The tomb is sealed away by the storm. No one can it passed it."
"You could show him where it is at least." Dr Rena laughed.
"Can't he get there himself, he's got that droid to help." Fel bite back. She didn't want to leave Rena on her own or go with a complete stranger to the ancient tombs. If Dr Rena and her team were unable to get in, what makes him think he's any different. Besides that, Fel was getting a strange feeling from Cal Kestis. A power that felt familiar and similar to what she felt when she heard that strange noise that came out of his weapon.
"Comet, I think he can help you… help with your lost memories."
"How can we trust him, he could be lying and working for the Imperials." Fel glared at Cal slightly.
"He's not working for the Imperials, Comet." Dr Rena said, "He proved that much by saving my life."
"Rena, it's not going to work. The storm… it's too powerful for own equipment. Even the Imperials couldn't get through." Fel started to walk back to the starship, "Kestis should go back to where he came from."
Dr Rena followed her, "Comet, look. He may be the only chance you'll have at getting your memories back. Why don't you go with him and see."
"Rena…" Fel began. She didn't like this idea. What was going to happen the Doctor if she went with Cal? How would Cal even help her with these lost memories.
"I can put objects into statis and slow them down with the Force." Cal interrupted.
The women stopped and stared at Cal. Which made him laugh nervously and scratch the back of his head. He then picked up a piece of rock and threw it in the air. Before it hit the floor, Cal held out his hand and flexed it slightly. The rock slowed down and it seemed to float in mid-air, gradually rotating and falling until the unseen power released it and it fell to the ground. Fel stared in fascination. There was a part of her that recognised the technique and the aura of power that Cal gave off, but something was blocking that memory.
"You did that?" Fel went over to the piece of rock and picked it up. It was just a normal rock and there was no trick. "That was wild." She smiled as she analysed the rock. Her excitement got the better of her, Fel quickly realised and went back to a neutral position.
"Comet. I think you should stay with Cal; I think he can help you." Dr Rena said, "I'll take Sandy and head for Ulv."
"Ulv… but that's 70 par secs away." Fel looked back at Dr Rena, her only mother-figure she had known. Tears prickled Fel's eyes as she said, "You can't leave me Rena…"
Dr Rena smiled sadly, "You're not a child anymore, my dear. And besides, this is not my fate Comet. I believe the Force lead me to you and now it's calling to you to places I cannot go."
Fel thought for a moment. Places calling to her? Could it be the tomb below was where Fel was meant to be? That she was destinated to meet Cal Kestis the Jedi. A part of her wanted to just follow Rena off this planet, but there was something deep within her soul that begged to be released. The parts of her that she had forgotten, perhaps the Jedi with her. Fel ran over to Dr Rena and hugged her, resigned to follow Cal and her journey to find her memories.
"Will I ever see you again?" Fel said, burying her head in Dr Rena's shoulder.
"So, you will listen to me for once." Dr Rena laughed, cupping Fel's cheeks with her hands, "I do believe we will see each other in the future. Now my Comet I wish you all the best and I hope you get your memories back." The Doctor then kissed Fel on the forehead and then gave her one big final hug.
Dr Rena then said her goodbyes to Cal and BD-1, "Keep her safe Kestis… and when it's time give her the box." She pointed to the satchel that Cal was carrying.
"I will." Cal said.
"Alright Sandy, I'm ready." Dr Rena spoke into her commlink. A few seconds later there was the low hum and pulsating sound of engines being engaged. Something shimmered just above the cliff's edge, then a silk like substance was dragged away revealing Dr Rena's ship, C.O.M.3.T, hovering in front of them. The landing platform jutted out and the blaster doors opened.
Before entering her ship, Dr Rena turned and met Fel's gaze, she then called out, "Come find me when you've recovered your memories Comet. I look forward to meeting the Jedi you once were."
"Me too…" Fel said quietly.
And with that, Dr Rena entered her ship and flew away. Masking again to avoid the Empire's sensors.
Fel turned to Cal, "So Kestis, why are you looking for the tomb of Eilram?"
"You know the tomb I'm looking for?"
"Been studying what remains of the Zeffo for the past three years." Fel said, crossing her arms, "But like I said, there's a storm blocking the way, nobody's been able to get through."
"Show me."
Fel hesitated for a moment, she got the feeling this man was going to annoy the living hell out of her. But there was also a little spark that interested her. The familiar feeling and the ancient power of the force, she wanted to find out more. She then shrugged and said, "This way."
