Hello everybody, are you glad to see this updated sooner than expected. Just to be clear, I'm updating this one right now to get my first Contest chapter out of the way. Also a little warning, the chapter after the one after this is my first movie chapter and its gonna take a while. Anyway, I hope I did well with this chapter, I'm not very good with Contests so it may not be good compared to others, but I tried so enjoy it. I have to say, I'm pleased with the recent Pokemon episodes, even though there hasn't been a new one in a while because of you know what. Finally, after so many years, Ash has his own Riolu, HELL YEAH BABY! I am SO gonna have Ash get him in the Sinnoh Region, though the matter on what Pokemon he caches next is still a problem. Also I decided in my story to somehow have Paul and Zoey get together somehow. Now for some questions answered.
Luner Moon Butterfly: I will and what do you mean by that?
GUIPA: It will be a lot longer than that.
Guest: I know.
ULTIMATE PETER: That isn't what I meant. I mean I have to be careful of which Pokemon Ash should catch because he might catch them in Sword and Shield.
That's all the questions for now. Also for my Digimon fans, I rewritten the second chapter of my Royal Knights story, so check it out. Now, enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 17: Win, Lose or Drew.
Previously, our Rainbow Hero had finally reunited with his long-time friends and first traveling companions, Verity and Sorrel. Their reunion was heart-warming and touching. Ash's Pikachu, Verity's Piplup, and Sorrel's Lucario were also happy to see each other.
The three friends fulfilled their promise to have a battle when next they meet. Ash had two full six on six battles with Verity and Sorrel. First, he battled against Sorrel. The young Pokémon Professor in training demonstrated how much stronger he has become on his journey by catching the legendary Entei, and also accessing Mega Evolution with his partner Lucario. It was a hard fought and close battle, but Ash managed to win.
Later, he had a full six on six battle with Verity. Their battle was a showstopper and ended in an impressive draw. She also surprised her long-time friend and love interest with some of her Pokémon. A shiny Milotic, the legendary Suicune, and a tricky Mismagius.
Verity and Sorrel also met Ash's current friends and travelling companions, May, her little brother Max, and Brock, former Pewter Gym Leader and now Pokémon Breeder. At night, they all watched beautiful Pokémon themed fireworks at the beach. May, Brock, and Max were on one side of the beach, while Ash, Sorrel, and Verity were on the other side.
Verity told her friends of her new goal of being a Pokémon Coordinator, while Sorrel wanted to learn more about what the Hoenn Region has to offer, like their legendary Pokémon and the ruins. Ash suggested to his two friends that they could travel together just like before, and they accepted his suggestion instantly.
That night, Ash and Sorrel made a blood oath and officially become sworn brothers with the Pallet Town trainer also confessing his feelings to Verity. The Twinleaf girl harbored the same feelings for the Rainbow Hero, and the two shared their first kiss, officially becoming a couple.
The now 6 travelling friends remained in Slateport City for the Slateport Pokémon Contest. May continued practicing with Beautifly at the beach, leaving Torchic with the others. Not only was the Slateport Pokémon Contest nearing in a few days, it was also May's Contest debut. Verity went off to do some private training of her own.
Having lunch at the Pokémon Center, Max told the others that he was concerned that May paid more attention to Beautifly rather than Torchic. Ash assured Max that May still loved Torchic no matter what. He explained to the young boy that a trainer's starter Pokémon is the one who becomes their very important partner. Brock related to that as well; his first Pokémon was his Onix that his father gave to him as a birthday present. Ash explained that every Pokémon he captures is special, but it was Pikachu who is his number one partner. Sorrel agreed with his sworn brother, because he considered Lucario as his partner as well.
Nurse Joy passed by and was impressed with how well our heroes have raised and trained all their Pokémon. Ash had swapped his team out again to do more training; he only kept Pikachu and Grovyle, swapping out for Corphish, Gallade, Donphan and Zoura. Ash, Sorrel and Brock had let out their Pokémon to have some lunch, but Sorrel kept Entei in his Ultra Ball to avoid unwanted attention.
Nurse Joy asked them a favor to watch over a batch of Pokémon for a new trainer coming over to pick up her starter. The Pokémon happened to be a Mudkip, Torchic, and a Treecko. These three were a bit different from their Pokémon. The Torchic was a bit of a troublemaker and liked to battle, the Mudkip was a bit of a cry-baby, which is understandable since it's a young one, and the Treecko had a twig with a flower in its mouth, showing that it was female. Ash's Grovyle took care of the Treecko, May's Torchic watched the younger one and Brock's Mudkip gave the cry-baby one a piggyback.
Meanwhile, May was still training with Beautifly, until she saw a beached Wailord. She called via videophone to the Pokémon Center, so Nurse Joy went to the beach to help the giant Water-type. The Pokémon Nurse left and told Ash, Max, and Sorrel to take care of the starters and not let them out of the Pokémon Center. Brock went after Nurse Joy, because he was still love struck towards the beautiful young woman.
Of course, the Torchic started to cause mischief and escaped from the Pokémon Centre. The spirited Torchic accidentally evolved into Combusken at some point after battling and defeating some of the other Pokémon, including Ash's Corphish, which was amusing considering Corphish had the type advantage.
Ash, Sorrel, and Max were in big trouble. Max suggested to substitute May's Torchic as a diversion, but Ash was against the idea. Ash knew that May would not fall for that because she had a strong bond with her Torchic. They were left with no choice, but to tell the truth.
The new trainer was a young girl with green hair, accompanied by her dad. Ash and Max had to tell Nurse Joy that the Torchic she asked them to take care of evolved. The three annoying thieves (Team Rocket) then appeared outside in their balloon in an attempt to steal the Wailord that Nurse Joy helped not long ago.
However, Combusken showed its amazing new powers by freeing the Wailord and sending Team Loser flying. Ash finished it up by having Pikachu shock them again, before sending them flying.
With Team Loser gone, the girl chose Mudkip as her starter and partner. The female Treecko felt sad at not being chosen. Suddenly, the girl's father was moved by this and asked Nurse Joy if he wasn't too old to be a Pokémon trainer. Nurse Joy kindly answers 'Of course not'. The father chose the Treecko as his partner. Nurse Joy appointed the evolved Combusken as a guard for the Pokémon Center, and the young fowl Pokémon accepted.
Later, Verity came back from her training, greeting her friends happily, except for May. May and Verity had started to not like each other. It wasn't hard to see that Ash and Verity had become a couple, and that didn't sit well with May. May had a crush on Ash that grew from their journey together, so she was a bit upset at seeing him with another girl.
Now, after what felt like so long, the day of the contest has come. However, they had a bit of a late start. May, Max and Brock were currently running towards the Pokémon Contest in a hurry. Apparently, May didn't check the deadline, and now they were paying the piper for her carelessness. Unlike May, Verity checked the deadline and got up early to sign up for it. She took Sorrel and Ash with her, leaving Max and Brock alone with May.
"Hurry up you guys! I can't miss this! I got to make it!" May exclaimed in panic, running as fast as she could with Max and Brock behind her. "Next time, check the deadline before the day of the Contest! Verity had the right idea to check yesterday, while you didn't!" Max scolded his older sister for her recklessness.
"Remind me again why we're running along with her?" Brock questioned, since he and Max weren't entering the contest. "You guys don't have to rub it in, I get your point. Hurry!" May cried out as they picked up the pace to the Pokémon Contest.
Eventfully, they all made it to the Contest with May going to the front desk. "Excuse me, I'm not too late to enter the Pokemon Contest, am I?" May asked the female worker, handing in her contest card. The woman took May's card with a smile. "No, you just made it". The female worker answered May, going to her computer to sign May up for the contest.
May sighed in relief as she leaned down on the desk. "That was close". The brunette said in relief that they didn't miss the deadline. "Let that be a lesson, always checked ahead of time to not make the same mistake again". Ash remarked as he, Sorrel, Verity and Lucario walked up to their friends. Pikachu was riding on the Rainbow Hero's shoulder, while Verity held her Piplup in her hands.
"You could have given us a heads-up, you know". Max replied, turning to look at the Rainbow Hero and their new travel companions. "Sorry, I just felt like May needed to learn an important lesson". Verity apologized to the 8-year-old, sticking her tongue out playfully. "Oh well. It was a nice morning work out". Brock commented, taking a few deep breaths. "Pikachu". Pikachu remarked with a smile.
"The contest begins precisely at 1:00 pm". The woman told May as she handed back her contest card, who held it with a happy smile. "I won't be late". May promised as Brock looked at the clock and saw that it was 10 o'clock. "That's 3 hours from now. What should we do until then?" Brock asked as he turned to face his travelling companions.
Suddenly, Ash's stomach grumbled, making the Rainbow Hero look down with his cheeks red in embarrassment. "Why not go get something to eat". Ash suggested to the group, making his sworn brother chuckle. "I see you still have a big appetite". Sorrel stated, making the Rainbow Hero look at his sworn brother.
"In my defense, I kinda missed dinner last night from training. So breakfast wasn't enough to fill me up". Ash told his sworn brother, making Verity giggle at her boyfriend. "Haha! In that case, let's go look for a restaurant!" Brock laughed out, receiving an appreciated look from the Rainbow Hero. "All right!" Ash exclaimed in joy as the six travelling companions all left the Pokémon Contest.
(3 hours later)
3 hours has passed and now, the Pokémon Contest has officially begun. Inside the building, the whole stadium was filled with people. "Ladies and gentleman, thank you so much for your patience! The Hoenn Region Pokémon Contest and the pride of Slateport City will now begin!" A woman named Vivian Meridian called out on her microphone. Vivian is a beautiful woman with orange hair and blue eye along with a mole on the left side of her face. She was wearing a red shirt along with a long knee length skirt, giving her a more, classy and sophisticated appearance.
The crowd cheered out in excitement. "Now let's meet our judges!" Vivian exclaimed as she gestured to the three judges behind her, sitting down on seats behind podiums. "I'll begin by first introducing the director of the contest committee, Mr. Contesta! All of our judges are well known for being fair, but firm!" Vivian explained as she gestured to the gentleman wearing a red shirt.
"Next we have Sukizo from the Pokémon Fan Club!" Vivian continued as she gestured to the short man in the middle of judges, who was waving. "And finally Slateport City's very own Nurse Joy!" Vivian finished as she gestured to the nurse of the Pokémon Center.
The screen then showed the prize that the coordinators were competing for, the Slateport City Pokémon Contest Ribbon, which was a green ribbon. "The Coordinator who earns their way to victory will be honored with the much esteemed Slateport Ribbon! Those of you skilled enough to earn 5 ribbons at the contests held through out the region, you'll be allowed to compete in the ultimate test of Coordinators, the Pokémon Grand Festival!" Vivian explained to the crowd watching her. "My name is Vivian and I'm completely honored to be your MC today!" Vivian introduced herself with a smile as the crowd roared in applause.
Meanwhile in the waiting room, May was sitting down on a bench, gripping her Pokéblock Case with both her hands, shaking like a leaf with Beautifly on her head. The rest of the gang were surrounding her, looking at the nervous girl in concern. "May. May!" Ash called out to the Petalburg girl, but she didn't respond to the Rainbow Hero.
"Hello, May!?" Max called out, snapping May out of it as she finally reacted to them. "Huh? What? What's wrong?" May asked, wondering what the problem was. "You look so nervous". Max answered his sister, getting her to start flailing. "No, nonono! I'm not nervous at all!" May replied to her younger brother, trying to convince both him and herself.
"I get what's wrong with her. She's nervous". Ash said in realization, getting Max and May to look at him. "It's understandable. Every beginner are nervous for their debut". Sorrel stated, remembering when he first started his journey. "Sorrel's right about that. Even I was nervous when I entered my first Contest". Verity said in agreement, remembering when she first entered a Pokémon Contest and how nervous she was.
"But you won that contest, remember?" May reminded the Twinleaf girl, getting her to laugh nervously. It wasn't common for a beginner to win on their first try, they'd actually loose, but Verity was one of the few who won on her first go.
"May, it's normal for you to be nervous. Although you performed with Janet before, this is really the first time you've been on stage all by yourself". Brock said with a smile, remembering back when May helped Janet, the girl who inspired May to become a Pokémon Coordinator.
"You're wrong about one thing, old friend. She isn't alone. May has Beautifly with her". Ash stated with a smile towards the Petalburg girl, who blushed up at him. "I know, but still I've never been this scared. Ever". May sighed, her nerves screaming at her.
"Stay calm". Verity began as she placed her hands on May's shoulders, getting the younger girl to look up at her. "Remember, if you aren't in control of your emotions, your Pokémon will feel the same". Verity continued to explain, getting a confused look from May. "Really? They do?" May questioned, before she looked up at her Beautifly on her head.
"Do you Beautifly?" May asked her Bug and Flying-type, which she nodded to her trainer. "That's what Mr. Big was telling you about. If a trainer feels nervous, then the Pokémon will feel just as nervous". Max told his sister, reminding her what their friend told May. "Pika-pika". Pikachu said in agreement to what Max said.
"Remember, you've worked really hard for this contest, May. Everything will be fine as long as you stay calm". Brock told the young female, getting her to smile at her friends' words, before she nodded to them. "Verity Awadetsu, you're up first!" A female employer of the contest called out, getting the gang's attention.
"So, ladies first, huh?" Verity remarked with her hands on her hips, before looking back at May. "Watch and learn from the expert". Verity told the younger female as she gave her a wink, before she walked out of the waiting room, leaving the gang as she went to do her performance.
Back on the main stage, Vivian began to explain about the Performance Round. "In the Performance Round, Coordinators and Pokémon are judged for performance quality on the acts they've worked so hard on! Prepare yourselves for a display of beauty and precision!" Vivian explained to the crowd, before she held out her left hand.
"Please welcome our first contestant from the Sinnoh region, Verity Awadetsu!" Vivian called out as Verity appeared on the stage, waving to the cheers of the fans.
Verity brought out a Poké Ball with her right hand, before she kissed it. "Lopunny, battle dance!" Verity called out as she threw her Poké Ball in the air. The device burst open as a white beam came out and struck the ground, before it cleared to reveal that the Pokémon was a Lopunny. Lopunny is a bipedal, rabbit-like Pokémon with dark brown fur and a short round tail. It had pink eyes with black markings on the inner edge, long tufts of cream-colored fur above its eyes, and a small pink nose. "Lopunny!" The Normal-type cried out with a smile on its face.
Back in the waiting room, the gang was watching Verity's performance carefully since this is their first time watching her perform. "That must be a Pokémon that Verity caught in the Sinnoh Region!" Ash exclaimed, before he brought out his Pokédex and scanned Lopunny with it.
"Lopunny the Rabbit Pokémon. The ears appear to be delicate. If they are touched roughly, it kicks with its graceful legs". The Pokédex buzzed about Lopunny, showing what type it was. "Lopunny looks both graceful and powerful. Verity must have trained it pretty well". Sorrel commented, noticing how Lopunny's fur shined.
Back on the main stage, Verity began her performance. "Okay Lopunny, start things off with Focus Blast!" Verity commanded with a confident smile. Lopunny focused its mental powers, forming a light blue ball between its hands. Lopunny then fired the Focus Blast at the ceiling.
"Now use Jump Kick!" Verity commanded as Lopunny bounced and jumped very high above the Focus Blast, before it kicked the blue sphere. The Jump Kick fragmented into smaller spheres that rained down on the stage.
"Now finish this with Hidden Power!" Verity called out with a smile. Lopunny gave out a cry as it unleashed dozens of white spheres at the light blue spheres. The white and blue spheres merged together, producing sparkling, diamond-like shower effects that radiated in the center stage with the audience and judges watching in awe. The crowd began cheering loudly as Lopunny landed in front of her trainer and gave a humble bow.
"Amazing. Verity and her Lopunny were both in sync. Their demonstration was a combination of both drama and action in harmony. They make a great team". Mr. Contesta praised the Twinleaf girl and her Normal-type. "I can only say, Verity and Lopunny are both remarkable". Mr. Sukizo complimented, enjoying the show that Verity and Lopunny showed.
"Wonderful. They combined both the skill and strength of battles with the grace and elegance of contests. They truly work as if they were one and the same". Slateport City's Nurse Joy stated, having enjoyed the first performance. "The judges clearly loved Verity's performance. Now, what score will they give her!" Vivian called out as the judges all gave Verity her points for her performance.
Mr. Contesta: 10.
Mr. Sukizo: 10.
Nurse Joy: 10.
Total score: 30.
"Amazing! Verity has earned a full score!" Vivian exclaimed as the crowd cheered for Verity and Lopunny. Lopunny walked up to her trainer, where Verity gave her partner a hug full of happiness. "Way to go Lopunny!" Verity praised her Normal-type, who hugged her trainer back. "Lopunny". Lopunny replied to Verity with its voice sounding female.
Back in the waiting room, the gang were impressed with Verity's performance. "Wow! I knew Verity was good, but this is better than what I was expecting". Ash said in awe, impressed with his girlfriend's performance. "I guess we now know how she won 2 ribbons". Sorrel commented with a smile, proud of his old friend.
May, however, was silent as she continued to stare at the screen, which showed Verity and Lopunny hugging. "She's amazing. She showed no hesitation and her bond with Lopunny was incredible". May whispered in awe, awestruck by Verity. Even Beautifly was impressed as well with the performance. What the gang didn't notice was that Drew was watching the screen as well, having an interested look on his face.
Soon Verity and Lopunny made it back to the waiting room as the other Coordinators were given their chances to perform. "Hey guys". Verity greeted her friends as she and Lopunny walked up to them. "Hey Verity. You and Lopunny were awesome". Ash praised his girlfriend as he, Sorrel, Max, Brock, May and Beautifly smiled at the Twinleaf girl.
"I have to agree with Ash, you and Lopunny were magnificent". Sorrel said in agreement, very impressed with the Twinleaf's performance. "The both of you were in perfect sync". Brock complimented the Twinleaf girl, seeing how the girl had complete faith in her Pokémon.
"Your Lopunny was so cool!" Max praised as he walked up to the Normal-type, who smiled down at the young boy. "Lopunny". Lopunny thanked Max for his kind words. "You were pretty amazing, Verity. I can see how you've earned your two ribbons. You're an awesome Pokémon Coordinator". May stated, amazed with the older girl's performance. "Thanks guys, it means a lot to us". Verity thanked her friends with a grateful smile.
The group of friends then focused their attention to watching the Coordinators showed their performances and soon, it was Drew's turn. "Next up is contestant 24; his friends know him as Drew!" Vivian announced as the young green haired boy appeared on stage, looking confident.
"There he is". Ash stated as he, along with everyone else, watched May's new rival. "That Drew, thinks he's so great". May said with her eyes narrowed, not liking his stuck up attitude.
(Hoenn Elite Four- Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire)
Back on stage, Drew flicked his hair a bit. "Oh yeah Roselia go!" Drew called out as he threw his Poké Ball, releasing the Thorn Pokémon, Roselia. "Now use Petal Dance!" Drew began as Roselia released a shower of petals from its rose-like hands. "Roselia takes the stage with a simply, gorgeous Petal Dance; just fabulous". Vivian commented as Roselia landed on the floor gracefully.
Back in the waiting room, the gang was a bit impressed. "Looks like the guy's not all talk". Ash remarked, now seeing that Drew can back up his words. "Pika". Pikachu said in agreement to what his best friend said. "It was beautiful". May said in awe with her Beautifly agreeing with its trainer.
Back on the main stage, Drew continued his performance. "Next use Stun Spore!" Drew commanded as Roselia spun around and released its Stun Spore. "And Magical Leaf!" Drew added as Roselia stopped for a moment, before she launched its Magical Leaf attack.
The two attacks merged to make the appeal even more gorgeous. "Outstanding! Magical Leaf and Stun Spore! They completely won over this audience with their precise teamwork". Vivian commented in awe as Roselia posed in the middle of the Magical Leaf.
"That really is pretty". May said in awe, her eyes stuck to the TV showing Drew's performance. Beautifly once again agreed with its trainer, while Verity and her Lopunny watched the performance carefully.
"And now it's time to finish up. Roselia use Petal Dance!" Drew gave his final command. Roselia once again released a shower of rose petals, before she suddenly vanished. Ash, May, and the others were surprised at seeing the Grass and Poison-type suddenly vanish like that.
"Magical Leaf!" Drew added as the temporarily vanished Roselia fired its Magical Leaf, which cut through the Petal Dance, making the appeal dazzling. Roselia finally reappeared back on stage, after a few moments; giving the audience a bow with Drew.
(Music end)
The audience roared out in joy, having enjoyed the performance. Drew once again flicked a bit his hair. "Perfect, what'd ya expect?" Drew said with a smirk on his face. "So now we await the judges' opinion of that excellent performance". Vivian said as she looked at the three judges.
Mr. Contesta: 9.8.
Mr. Sukizo: 9.9.
Nurse Joy: 9.7.
Total score: 29.4.
"29.4, that's the second highest score yet!" Vivian called out in awe, not noticing Drew looking at his score with a frown on his face. Back in the waiting room, most of the gang were surprised by the results. "His score is almost the same as Verity's score". Max stated, a little worried at how good Drew is after seeing his performance.
"Your comments?" Vivian asked Nurse Joy, holding her microphone out to her. "That was a great combination". Nurse Joy answered, having loved the way Drew used his combinations. "It was remarkable". Mr. Sukizo simply said, those three words showing how he felt. "And as for me, I was impressed with their great use of the entire stage". Mr. Contesta told what he thought of Drew's performance.
"This guy's maybe better than I thought". May said in concern, worried at how well her performance will be compared to Drew's performance. May spend the next few minutes looking down in concern as more Coordinators gave her performance, while Ash, Max, Brock and Sorrel returned to the audience. "Yo!" A familiar voice greeted, getting May to look and see Drew was in front of her.
"I see you made it". Drew said to May, giving her a harmless smile. "Hello Drew". May greeted her new rival with a normal tone. "I trust that you caught our performance? That was some true art". Drew questioned May as he flicked his hair. "What do you want? Did you just come here to brag?" May questioned her rival, wanting to know why he started a conversation with her.
"No, as a great Coordinator, I came here to cheer you on. See, I want you to at least make it through the first round". Drew answered, showing at least good sportsmanship. "Just watch me, oh great one!" May replied to the older Coordinator. Watching the two was Verity with her Lopunny, who were both smiling as they watched the two rivals.
However, the cries of the audience got the three Coordinators' attention as they saw a blond adult man performing with a Milotic. "And now the next coordinator to take the stage, number 38: Robert!" Vivian announced as the crowd cheered.
"Now Milotic, let's use Safeguard". Robert gently commanded his Water-type. Milotic calmly created a protective field around itself as its body was outlined in light green. The crowd was astonished by Milotic's Safeguard as the Water-type looked beautiful.
"That was awe inspiring". Mr. Contesta commented, enjoying the sight of the beautiful Milotic. "Yes, simply remarkable". Mr. Sukizo agreed with his fellow judge. "I'm very impressed". Nurse Joy commented, her eyes glued to Milotic.
Ash, Brock, Max and Sorrel watched the performance from the audience as well. "So, this Robert has a Milotic". Ash commented as he looked at Robert's Milotic, which was a different color than Verity's Milotic. "I've heard that some people think that Milotic is the most beautiful Pokémon of all". Max remarked, remembering reading about Milotic.
"Me too. What a great choice for a contest, huh". Brock said with a smile, enjoying the performance so far. Milotic then proceeded to fan out its tail and show its magnificent scales, capturing the crowd's cheers. "With its dazzling appearance combined with its awesome technique, Milotic has the whole stadium enraptured!" Vivian commented as Milotic kept showing its scales to the crowd's delight.
In the waiting room, May was watching Milotic's performance in awe, while Drew simple watched. "Beautiful". May said in awe, enjoying the beautiful performance. Behind the two, Verity and Lopunny watched the performance as well and they had to admit, they were impressed. "He's good". Verity stated, knowing she had to be careful around this man.
Soon Robert finished his performance and left the stage. "Folks there's only one more contestant left in the preliminaries and now it's entry number 50: May, you're up!" Vivian called out on her microphone. Meanwhile the Petalburg girl is at the back and was completely nervous, gripping her Poke Ball before she walked up to the stage.
"All right, it's May's turn". Ash stated as he, Brock, Max and Sorrel were glad to finally see her debut. "This is May's first time participating in a Pokémon Contest, so let's give her a warm welcome and watch her Pokémon's elegant entry". Vivian requested as the crowd cheered for May, who was still nervous.
"Uhh… All right then". May nervously said, overwhelmed by the pressure. "Oh this isn't good. I think she's overwhelmed by the stadium". Brock said as he noticed May's nervous face. "Just calm down May!" Ash called out to his friend, trying to encourage her.
"Come on, you can do it!" Max called out to his sister, hoping she'll pull through. "Pika Pika!" Pikachu cheered for his friend as well as May finally got her act together. "Beautifly, let's go!" May called out as she was about to throw her Poke Ball, but she slipped up and fell accidentally. The judges and the crowd all gasped at watching her fall.
Vivian walked up to May, lending her hand to the young girl. "Are you all right dear?" Vivian asked the Petalburg girl in concern. May accepted Vivian's hand as she pulled her up. "I'm fine; that was just a little warm up". May told Vivian as she threw her Poké Ball. "Now Beautifly, it's time for you to take the stage!" Mal cried out as her Poke Ball released her butterfly Pokémon. Beautifly appeared, showing its scales in a beautiful manner that impressed the crowd a bit.
"Wow Beautifly's marvelous wings really do catch your eye!" Vivian commented in awe as the crowd watched May's performance. May then brought out and started to throw a frisbee at her Beautifly. "String Shot!" May commanded as Beautifly launched String Shot from its mouth, which wrapped around the Frisbee. Beautifly then tossed the Frisbee back at May, who managed to catch it with no problem.
"Excellent and a clean catch!" Vivian commented as May once again tossed it at Beautifly. "Again!" May called out, which her Beautifly complied and returned it with its String Shot. May caught it again, and they continued to toss and return it back and forth successfully. "They're really going strong now! That incredible combination has more than made up for May's earlier slip up". Vivian commented in awe as the crowd watched.
"All right. She's got the hang of it now". Ash said in relief to see May not so nervous anymore. "Way to go, May!" Max praised his sister, even though she couldn't hear him. "Those are some nice effects. She's completely focused on her timing with Beautifly and got her nerve back". Brock commented, seeing May was now more focused on her performance instead of the audience. Sorrel kept quiet, but had an impressed look on his face.
"Ready for this Beautifly? Gust, let's go!" May called out as she tossed the disc, and this time Beautifly flapped its wings, releasing a gust of wind that returned the Frisbee back to May. "Now it's a return using Gust! If she catches this, it'll mean real points!" Vivian called out as May tried to catch the Fristbee, but she almost missed. "Oh no, could this be a miss?" Vivian commented in concern, but May managed to catch the disc in the end.
Ash, Brock, Max, Verity, and Sorrel all sighed in relief that May managed the successful catch from their different locations. Verity was watching in the waiting room with her Lopunny, while the others watched from the audience.
"She did it, and by not dropping it, she should be just fine". Vivian said with a relieved smile on her face. "Time to finish this up, right? Silver Wind go!" May commanded as Beautifly's wings glowed white, before it created a gust of silvery wind. "Go into a spin!" May added as Beautifly spun around, while continuing its Silver Wind.
It created a beautiful and appealing, silver tornado. "I don't believe my eyes. Beautifly has been surrounded by a spiraling Silver Wind. It almost looks like Beautifly has been in a gorgeous, silver rose". Vivian said in awe, enjoying the performance so far.
"She did it". Ash said with a smile, proud of May. "And that's gotta be the prettiest Silver Wind she's ever done". Max added, impressed with his sister. "Pikachu". Pikachu said in agreement, riding on Ash's shoulder. "I think Beautifly was born to be on stage". Brock remarked, noticing how natural this seemed to Beautifly. "I'll say this, those two were meant to be Coordinators". Sorrel finally admitted, having kept quiet during May's performance.
From inside the waiting room, Verity and her Lopunny had proud smiles on their faces. Drew was watching from around the corner, seemingly impressed. "What do you know? That wasn't bad at all". Drew stated, actually impressed with May and her Beautifly.
Beautifly landed on May, and both make a nice bow to the audience to end their performance. The crowd cheered for both May and Beautifly, having loved their performance. "So let's find out what the judges thought of May and Beautifly's performance". Vivian said as she looked at the judges.
"Very good for a first time effort". Nurse Joy commented with a smile as she gave a score of 8.1. "She's got a bright future ahead of her". Mr. Contesta said as he gave his score of 8.3. "I'd say she's just remarkable". Mr. Sukizo said as he gave his score of 8.5. The three scores give a total of 24.9 points.
"And their final score is a total of 24.9!" Vivian exclaimed as the crowd cheered, but May looked a bit disappointed. "What a drag. I didn't even score a 25". May said in disappointment, her Beautifly just as disappointed as her trainer. "That ends our preliminary round! In a moment, we'll be announcing who will advance to the second round!" Vivian told the crowd, who cheered in excitement.
A little bit later in the waiting room, May sat down on the bench that she was sitting on before her performance. "I just hope I make it to the secondaries". May said in concern, afraid she won't make it to the second round. "Come on, you did great and that's what counts. Besides, there's always next time". Verity told her friend as she sat next to May, who gave the Twinleaf girl a smile of appreciation.
Suddenly, a rose was offered to May, getting her and Verity to see that it was Drew who was offering it. "A good performance May". Drew told the Petalburg girl, who smiled up at him. "Is that for me? Thanks Drew". May thanked her rival as she took the rose.
"Not for you. It's for your Beautifly". Drew corrected, making May lost her smile. "It's obvious that the Coordinator still has a lot of training to do". Drew added as he flicked his hair. "Well I guess we all can't be as good as you!" May retaliated at the green haired boy, before Drew looked at Verity. "I saw your performance. I have to admit that you're good". Drew told Verity, very impressed with her performance.
"Thanks, but I still have a lot more to learn to be as good as my mom". Verity replied to Drew as she looked down, thinking about her mother. "Oh? Is your mother a Coordinator?" Drew asked Verity with interest, but she shook her head. "No, just someone really famous for being strong". Verity replied to the male, knowing that she's still nowhere close to matching her mother.
"Now, the results are in, and I thank you for your patience. These eight Coordinators will move on to the next round!" Vivian called out from the main stage as the screen showed the eight Coordinators that made it, including Verity, May, Drew and Robert. "Ahh!" May called out in joy, while Drew looked surprised.
"You made it, because…" Drew started with a smirk, but May cut him off. "I know, you wanna say it's all because of Beautifly!" May interrupted the green haired male, before she smiled happily. "Oh who cares!? My Beautifly and I are moving on to the secondaries!" May exclaimed in joy as Verity smiled at her friend.
Back in the audience, the gang were discussing amongst themselves. "That's so cool, both May and Verity's going to the second round!" Ash said in joy that his friend and girlfriend made it to round 2. "Pika!" Pikachu shared his partner's joy at seeing May and Verity succeed. "You know what? My sister might win". Max said with a confident smile, confident that his sister will win the contest.
"Don't count on it. The judges judge on the Coordinator's battling abilities and May isn't experienced at that. Verity has the more likely chance to win the contest". Sorrel stated, raining on Ash and Max's happy parade. "You're right". Both Ash and Max said in unison, now worried for May.
The screen started randomizing the Coordinators on who they had to face in the next round. "The contestants are now randomly being chosen to see who they'll be facing in battle!" Vivian explained as the screen stopped, showing the match ups. May was facing Drew in the first round, while Verity was facing Robert. "And the results are in!" Vivian stated as both May and Verity widened their eyes.
"Don't tell me!" May called out from the waiting room. "Not good!" Ash stated from the audience. Verity kept quiet, before she turned to see Robert standing a few feet away from her, giving a smile that she returned. "Ha! Me against you? That'll be fun". Drew chuckled with his arms crossed as May turned to look at him. 'I just can't lose to him'. May thought to herself, promising to win her match against Drew.
Sadly, she wouldn't be able to keep that promise.
May's match against Drew went terrible because Beautifly couldn't even land a hit on Roselia. Drew defeated May single-handedly and would be moving on to the next round. After the battle, the gang gathered around May in the waiting room, who was crying on Ash's shoulder as the Rainbow Hero gave her a hug to help calm her down.
"I'm so sorry May". Max apologized to his sister as Ash ran his fingers through May's hair, comforting her for her loss. "I stink. I couldn't do a thing. To think… that… my Beautifly worked so hard out there. All I did was totally mess everything up. I feel awful!" May cried out in sadness as she continued to cry out her tears on Ash's shoulder. Ash gave a soft pat on her head, letting her know he and their friends were here for her.
"It's okay. You did your best, I'm proud of you". Ash told the Petalburg girl, proud of her for giving it her best shot. "You know, the only thing I could think about was how much fun it would be if I entered a Pokémon Contest and to perform side by side with Beautifly, but I… I never thought on how hard it would be to lose!" May cried out as she opened her eyes, showing her pain filled expression to her friends.
"It hurts May". Brock told the young female trainer, feeling sorry for her lost. "It hurts a lot". Max added, feeling his sister's sadness. "The first lost is always the hardest lost, but what matters is getting up afterwards". Sorrel told May, who continued to cry as she refused to listen to him.
"Now folks the next match will be Robert V.S Verity!" Vivian announced on the screen, getting the gang's attention. "That's my cue, catch ya later". Verity told her friends as she was about to head to the stadium, before she stopped and looked at May. "May, just watch me! I'm going to win this for you and me, and that's a promise". Verity told her friend, before she left the waiting room. May stopped crying upon hearing her fellow coordinator's words as she felt Verity's conviction. She lifted her head up to the screen and watched the TV.
A few minutes later, Verity and Robert were both on stage, standing across from each other on their separate sides with the audience watching them. "This contest battle will have a 5 minute time limit! And now this match will now begin!" Vivian called out as the timer appeared on the screen and started counting down.
5:00 – 4:59.
(Play Battle! Trainer from Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/ Eevee)
Verity: 100 points.
Robert: 100 points.
"Milotic let's go!" Robert called out as he threw the Poké Ball, releasing the Water-type. "Lopunny, battle dance!" Verity called out as she threw her Poké Ball, releasing her Normal-type. "Lopunny!" Lopunny cried out as she landed a few feet away from Milotic.
(Robert: Milotic VS Verity: Lopunny)
"Milotic, Twister". Robert softly commanded his Water-type, which the Water-type started spinning its tailfin like a fan, before a twister appeared from it, going for Lopunny. "What a strong start! Milotic's Twister looks both beautiful and power!" Vivian commented as points were deducted from Verity.
Verity: 90 points.
"Lopunny, counter with Hidden Power!" Verity called out as Lopunny's body was outlined in yellow as light blue circles moved around its body. Lopunny fired the circles at the Twister with the two attacks clashing, cancelling each other out. "And Verity countered with Hidden Power, which was just as powerful as Milotic's Twister!" Vivian commented as points were now deducted from Robert.
Robert: 95 points.
"Alright Lopunny, Focus Blast and fire it into the air!" Verity commanded as she held out her right hand. Lopunny created a sphere of blue energy between its hand, before it launched it into the air. "What's this? What could Verity be planning?" Vivian questioned as she and the judges watched the Focus Blast.
"Now Jump Kick!" Verity called out with a smile. "Lopunny!" The Normal-type cried out as she jumped up above the Focus Black and kicked it with her right leg, shooting it out towards Milotic. "Oh my! Lopunny used Jump Kick to launch Focus Blast like a soccer ball!" Vivian commented in awe as more points were deducted from Robert.
Robert: 80 points.
"Milotic, Safeguard". Robert gently commanded as Milotic's body was outlined in green. The powered up Focus Blast made contact with Milotic, but instead of dealing damage, it turned into blue sparkles that made Milotic shine. "Cleaver! Milotic used Safeguard to both defend and look beautiful!" Vivian called out as points were deducted from Verity.
Verity: 80 points.
Lopunny landed in front of Milotic, who didn't look the least bit worried. "Milotic, Iron Tail". Robert commanded his Water-yype. The fan part of Milotic's tailfin glowed white, before it thrust its tail out at Lopunny. "Lopunny, counter with Thunder Punch!" Verity cried out as Lopunny's right fist was surrounded by yellow electricity.
Thunder Punch and Iron Tail made contact with the two Pokémon struggling to overpower each other. However, the two attacks created an explosion, forcing the two to leap away from each other. "Lopunny and Milotic are determined to not loose this!" Vivian commented as she could see that Lopunny and Milotic were giving it their all.
Robert: 70 points.
Verity: 70 points.
"Milotic, Hydro Pumpo". Robert commanded his Water-type, who blasted a powerful jet of water from its mouth at Lopunny, landing a direct hit. "Lopunny!" Verity called out in concern for her Normal-type as Lopunny crashed on her back. "Talk about fast! Milotic has landed a direct hit on Lopunny!" Vivian commented as points were deducted from Verity.
Verity: 55 points.
Lopunny got back on her feet, while Verity had her eyes narrowed, before she took notice of something. There was water from the Hydro Pump on the ground, leading towards where Milotic was. "Lopunny, Thunder Punch on the ground!" Verity commanded, which her Normal Type obeyed as it held up her right fist, before it was surrounded in electricity. "Lopunny!" Lopunny cried it, before she punched the ground right where the water was.
The electricity travelled through the water, going straight towards Milotic, before shocking the Water-type, making it cry out in pain. "Milotic!" Robert called out in concern. "Now that's strategy! Verity used the left over water from Hydro Pump for Thunder Punch, landing a direct hit on Milotic!" Vivian commented at seeing Verity's move as points were deducted from Robert.
Robert: 60 points.
"Very cleaver of you. You've battled well and with appeal, you've earned my respect Verity. However, that doesn't mean I'll lose this battle. Milotic, Twister". Robert ordered as Milotic started spinning its tailfins like a fan, before twister appeared, going for Lopunny. "Dodge it!" Verity called out as Lopunny jumped to dodge the Twister.
However, suddenly Milotic came out of the twister and leaped up above in front of Lopunny, making the Normal-type cry out in surprise. "Huh!" Verity called out in surprise, not expecting Milotic to appear from the Twister. "Now Milotic, Iron Tail!" Robert called out with a smile as Milotic's tail glowed white, before she struck Lopunny, sending the Normal-type crashing to the ground on her back.
"Lopunny!" Verity called out in concern for her Normal-type as Lopunny got back on her feet. "What a surprise! Milotic used Twister as a diversion so that when Lopunny would try to dodge, it could use Iron Tail!" Vivian commented, looking surprised as the crowd cheered while points were deducted from Verity.
Verity: 40 points.
Time limit: 2:01 – 2:00
"We now have 2 minutes remaining on this contest battle between Robert and Verity! Robert currently has the advantage, but that could change!" Vivian called out on her microphone as the screen showed Robert and Verity's points, although Robert still had an advantage over the Twinleaf Town girl.
'Robert is a truly experienced Coordinator. He's pushed me to the limit, but I intend to keep my promise to May to win this contest!' Verity thought to herself, determined to keep her promise to her friend that she'd win for both of them.
"You're a strong Coordinator Robert, there's no doubt about that. But I'm not planning to lose here. Now, I'm gonna give it everything I've got!" Verity told her opponent with a confident smile, one that Robert returned. "Very well Verity. Show me your full power and may the best Coordinator win!" Robert replied to the Twinleaf girl, who nodded to him.
Verity put her right hand under her shirt around her neck and brought out a string of pearls that was hidden underneath. However, the string of pearls had a Key Stone attached right at the center, which gave off a small sparkle. Lopunny smiled as she held up her left ear, before a Lopunnite Mega Stone appeared out of nowhere.
Ash, Brock, Sorrel and Max were watching the intense match from the audience, before they widened their eyes upon spotting the Key and Mega Stones that Verity and Lopunny had. "Is that what I think it is?" Ash questioned in disbelief that his girlfriend had a Key Stone and Mega Stone as well. Sorrel nodded to his sworn brother without facing him.
"Yes. Verity has a Key Stone, while Lopunny has a Mega Stone". Sorrel answered, surprised that he, and along with his two best friends had Key Stones and Mega Stones. "Does that mean she can…?" Max questioned, shocked that even Verity could achieve Mega Evolution. "She can Mega Evolve Lopunny". Brock answered Max, starting to consider getting a Key Stone himself.
In the Coordinator waiting room, May had wide eyes upon seeing Verity revealing she had a Key and Mega Stone. Ash had explained to her about Mega Evolution and although it was complicated, May understood everything about it.
Verity pressed her Key Stone with her right hand's index and middle fingers, causing it to let out a powerful burst of energy and rainbow flash, followed by four streams of energy shooting out. Lopunny cried out as her Mega Stone floated out of her ear and in front of the Normal-type, lightly flowing a creamy colour. The Mega Stone released a flash of energy, before four light blue streams of energy came out.
The eight streams of energy connected with each other, as if connecting Verity and Lopunny to each other. The Normal-type Pokémon was covered in energy, concealing her from view. "What's this? What could be happening to Lopunny?" Vivian asked in disbelief as the crowd, judges and even Coordinators witnessed the Mega Evolution with wide eyes.
"With your kicks of grace and elegance, unleash the spirit of a fighter within you! Lopunny, Mega Evolve!" Verity chanted, before Lopunny gave out a powerful cry as its appearance started to change completely.
After what felt like an hour, the energy disappeared to reveal the Mega Evolved Normal-type. It had shed the fur on the neck, upper torso, fingers, and legs. The tufts of fur above the eyes combine to form a single butterfly-shaped crest. The cream fur on its wrists and ankles becomes more round instead of fluffy; there is also a pattern on the legs that resembles ripped pantyhose. Its ear fur now only covered two segments of each ear in fluffy bands. Lopunny gave out a powerful roar as the Mega Evolution symbol appeared in front of her for a moment, before disappearing.
"Wow! I have to say, just incredible. Lopunny still appears to be graceful, but looks to have gained more power than before. Let's see what our judges have to say!" Vivian called out in awe as she turned to face the judges, who were in awe.
"Amazing. Lopunny looks elegant even without losing any of its appeal". Nurse Joy commented, loving the way that Lopunny still looked beautiful. "Just remarkable". Mr. Sukizo said with a bright smile on his face. "I agree. Lopunny not only has the appeal for contests, but has the strength for battle". Mr. Contesta agreed with his fellow judges as the crowd cheered as Robert's points went down.
Robert: 60 – 46 points.
"I must admit that I'm impressed, but I'm afraid that this won't change the outcome. Milotic, Twister!" Robert called out with a confident smirk on his face. Milotic started spinning its tail fins like a fan, before a twister appeared, going for Lopunny. "That won't work this time! Lopunny, Hidden Power!" Verity called out with a wide smile.
Lopunny's body was outlined in yellow as light blue circles moved around its body. The Mega evolved Pokémon fired the circles at the Twister, and unlike last time, Hidden Power easily pushed through Twister and landed a direct hit on Milotic, making it cry out in pain. "What!?" Robert called out in surprise, having expected a different outcome from the two attacks clashing with each other.
"What a surprise! Not only does Lopunny look different, her powers are even more powerful than before! Not to mention beautiful!" Vivian commented with a wide smile, impressed as more points were deducted from Robert.
Robert: 46 – 30 points.
"We're still not giving up! Milotic, Iron Tail!" Robert commanded his Water Type, whose tail glowed white, before it charged at the Mega evolved Normal-type. "Dodge, then Focus Blast!" Verity commanded as she held out her right hand. Right when Milotic was about to slam her tail onto Lopunny, the Normal-type twirled away with her hands up in the air.
While twirling, Lopunny created a sphere of blue energy between its hands, before she fired it at Milotic, landing a direct hit. "Just when it seemed like victory was in Robert's grasp, Verity's trump card has turned the tables! Milotic can't even land a single hit!" Vivian called out on her microphone as the crowd cheered.
Robert: 30 – 15.
"Lopunny, time to finish this!" Verity declared with a confident smirk, which Lopunny nodded to her trainer with a smile. "Lopunny!" The Normal-type cried out as she jumped into the air. "Oh my! What could Verity be planning!?" Vivian questioned as the crowd watched in excitement.
"Milotic, use all your power in one last Hydro Pump!" Robert commanded his Water-type. Milotic blasted a powerful jet of water from its mouth at Lopunny, who was still smirking in the air. "It has been fun, but all things have to end! Lopunny, finish this with a combination attack of Jump Kick and Thunder Punch!" Verity commanded with a confident smirk on her face.
"Lopunny!" Lopunny exclaimed as her hands were surrounded by electricity, before it was then transferred to Lopunny's legs. Finally, Lopunny held out her right foot as she began to dive down towards Milotic. Lopunny then began to spin around as the electricity from her legs grew and covered her from view, turning into a yellow electrical drill.
"Oh my! Lopunny has combined both Jump Kick and Thunder Punch and has become an electric drill!" Vivian called out in awe, staring at the electric covered Normal-type. "Magnificent!" Mr. Contesta exclaimed in awe at seeing the combination attack. "Remarkable!" Mr. Sukizo stated, smiling at witnessing the beautiful move. Everyone else was in awe as well, having never seen this before. Lopunny began to drill through the Hydro Pump, pushing her way through before she made contact with Milotic, creating an explosion.
"No! No! Milotic!" Robert called out in concern for his Water-type as the smoke from the explosion cleared to reveal the two Pokémon. Lopunny was standing in front of the knocked out Milotic, who had swirls in its eyes, showing it was unable to battle.
Upon seeing Milotic was unable to continue, the judges displayed an "X" on their podiums. "Just when time was almost up, Milotic is unable to continue! So, the winner of this round is Verity and Lopunny!" Vivian called out as the screen showed pictures of Verity and Lopunny with the words "Winner" under them.
(Music end)
(Winner: Verity and Lopunny)
"Alright!" Verity called out in joy at seeing she was the victor. "Lopunny!" The Normal-type cried out as she was covered in energy, before it cleared to reveal Lopunny back in her normal form. "Lopunny, I'm so proud of you!" Verity told her partner as she ran up and gave the Normal-type a hug, one she happily returned.
Robert returned his Milotic to its Poké Ball, before looking at the device with a smile. "Well done Milotic, take a good rest". Robert praised, before he walked out of the stage. "Verity and Lopunny will be advancing to the next stage!" Vivian told the audience as they cheered for the Twinleaf girl and her Normal-type.
(A little bit later)
Sometime has passed since Verity's match against Robert and the remaining two matches of the other four Coordinators has passed. Now only four Coordinators remained, including Verity and Drew. Which now lead to the first round of the semi-finals, the match between Verity and Drew.
Verity was standing on the left side of the field, while Drew was on the right side, who was looking at the Twinleaf girl with narrowed eyes. "This contest battle will have a 5 minute time limit! And now this match will now begin!" Vivian called out as the timer appeared on the screen and started counting down.
Time limit: 5:00 – 4:59.
Verity: 100 points.
Drew: 100 points.
"Go, Roselia!" Drew called out as he threw his Poké Ball, releasing the Poison and Grass-type. "Roselia!" The Grass and Poison-type cried out as she landed on her feet, ready to battle. "Lopunny, battle dance!" Verity cried out as she threw her Poké Ball, releasing the Normal-type. "Lopunny!" The Rabbit Pokémon cried out as she landed on her feet.
"Roselia, Magical Leaf!" Drew commanded, holding up his right fist. Roselia fired glowing white leaves from the flowers on its hands at Lopunny. "That won't work with me! Lopunny, Hidden Power!" Verity commanded her Normal-type with a confident smirk on her face.
Lopunny's body was outlined in yellow as light blue circles moved around its body, before she fired the circles at the glowing leaves, hitting and destroying them all. "Wow! Verity countered Magical Leaf with Hidden Power!" Vivian commented with a smile as points were deducted from Drew.
Drew: 90 points.
"Don't give up! Use Stun Spore!" Drew called out, refusing to be defeated. "Roselia!" The Grass and Poison-type cried out as she released an orange powder from the flowers on its hands at Lopunny. "Lopunny, use Jump Kick to blow the Stun Spore!" Verity told her Normal-type, who nodded as she jumped into the air, before she fell and kicked the ground hard, creating a breeze that blew away the Stun Spore.
"Another attempt foiled by Lopunny! The match has just started and it isn't looking good for Drew!" Vivian commented as more points were deducted from Drew.
Draw: 78 points.
"Now, Petal Dance!" Drew cried out as he held out his right hand. Roselia began to spin around quickly as pink petals came out, sparling towards Lopunny and landing a hit. "Finally Roselia lands a hit on Lopunny, but it doesn't look like it's doing much damage!" Vivian called out on her microphone as Lopunny still had a confident smirk on its face, despite being hit by Petal Dance.
Verity: 92 points.
"Lopunny, Focus Blast!" Verity commanded as Lopunny created a sphere of blue energy between her hands, before she fired it. Focus Blast pushed though Petal Dance, knocking the petals away before landing a direct hit on Roselia, who cried out in pain. "Roselia!" Drew called out in concern for his Poison and Grass-type.
Drew: 63 points.
"While you're at it, Thunder Punch!" Verity called out with a smirk as both of Lopunny's hands were covered in electricity. Lopunny started spinning around, creating an electricity tornado around her. Roselia tried to keep her ground from getting pulled into the tornado, but failed as she was pulled into the electrical tornado and began getting spun around it. The Grass and Poison-type cried out as she was thrown down to the ground hard with the electrical tornado disappearing to reveal that Lopunny had stopped spinning.
"Wow, what a way to use Thunder Punch! Lopunny created a electrical tornado for both appeal and damage!" Vivian called out in awe as the crowd cheered for the Twinleaf girl.
Drew: 40 points.
Roselia struggled to get back on her feet as static appeared and disappeared around her, showing that she was paralysed. "Oh dear, it seems Roselia is paralysed". Vivian commented, giving Roselia a worried look. "We're not giving up, no matter what! Roselia, Solar Beam!" Drew commanded his Grass and Poison-type, refusing to surrender.
Roselia held up the flowers on its hands up to the sky as she began to gather energy from the sun. "Looks like Drew is using his trump card early!" Vivian commented as Lopunny took a stance, ready for the Solar Beam. "Get ready Lopunny!" Verity warned her Normal Type, who nodded as she held up her hands.
Soon Roselia finished gathering energy and fired a bright beam from her flowers at Lopunny. "Roselia has successfully fired a beautiful Solar Beam!" Vivian called out as Lopunny held out her hands in front of her, taking the Solar Beam head on.
Verity: 80 points.
Lopunny struggled to hold back the Solar Beam with narrowed eyes, before she redirected the beam into the air, which exploded. "Amazing! Lopunny took Solar Beam head on and redirect it with just her bare hands!" Vivian commented in awe at Lopunny's raw strength.
"You haven't seen nothing yet! Lopunny, Jump Kick!" Verity commanded with a confidant smile as Lopunny jumped into the air, before she began to dive down towards Roselia with her right foot out. "Dodge it!" Drew told Roselia, but electricity appeared around the Grass and Poison-type, keeping her from moving.
Lopunny landed a direct hit on Roselia, sending the Grass and Poison-type flying into the air. "Roselia!" Drew called out in concern for his Poison and Grass-type. "Roselia tried to dodge, but her paralyses prevented her!" Vivian commented as Roselia landed on her stomach.
Drew: 25 points.
"During this whole match, Lopunny has proven to be the stronger opponent! The time limits' almost up! Can Drew and Roselia turn this around, or will Verity and Lopunny proceed to the finals!?" Vivian called out on her microphone as she turned to look at the time limit.
Time limit: 1:01 – 1:00.
"Roselia, Magical Leaf!" Drew commanded his Poison and Grass-type as Roselia got back on her feet, before she fired glowing white leaves from the flowers on her hands, landing a direct hit on Lopunny, who used her ears to defend herself.
Verity: 61 points.
"It's been fun, but its time to end this! Lopunny, go in close!" Verity told her Normal-type, getting Lopunny to grin as she started charging in towards Roselia, pushing through Magical Leaf. "What this!? Lopunny is going in close! What could Verity be planning!?" Vivian called out in surprise at Lopunny's actions, even the audience were surprised.
"Now's our chance! Roselia, Stun Spore!" Drew told his Grass and Poison-type, who nodded as she releases an orange powder from the flowers on its hands at Lopunny. But to everyone's surprise, the Stun Spore didn't seem to affect Lopunny as she continued to charge through to Roselia. "Why isn't it working!?" Drew questioned in surprised that Stun Spore wasn't working on Lopunny.
"Simple Drew, Lopunny's ability is Limber!" Verity answered the green haired boy's questioned with a smirk, getting him to widen his eyes in shock. "Oh no!" Drew called out in surprise, realizing his mistake. "Now for the finisher, Lopunny Thunder Punch!" Verity commanded with a prideful smile.
Lopunny's right fist was covered in electricity, before she stopped in front of Roselia and gave her an uppercut. Roselia cried out in pain as she was sent flying from the attack, before she landed on her back with swirls in her eyes. "Roselia!" Drew called out his Pokémon's name in concern.
Upon seeing Roselia was unable to continue, the judges displayed an "X" on their podiums. "Just when time was almost up, Roselia is unable to continue! So, the winner of this round is Verity and Lopunny!" Vivian called out as the screen showed pictures of Verity and Lopunny with the words "Winner" under them.
Winner: Verity and Lopunny.
Lopunny walked back to her trainer, before she and Verity hugged each other in joy. "We did it! We're an amazing team Lopunny!" Verity exclaimed in joy, happy that they've won. "Lo Lopunny". The Normal-type replied to her trainer, having a happy smile on her face.
Ash, Sorrel, Brock, and Max all watched Verity's victory against Drew from the audience and were very impressed. "Verity and Lopunny were incredible out there". The Rainbow Hero stated with a smile, proud of his girlfriend. "Pika-pi!" Pikachu cried out in agreement, cheering for Verity's victory.
"Drew wasn't expecting Lopunny's ability to be Limber. It was smart of Verity to keep that hidden until the right time". Sorrel commented, impressed with how his friend outsmarted her opponent. "Drew was good, but Verity was simply better". Brock stated with a smile and his arms crossed. Max nodded in agreement with the others, seeing that Verity was better than Drew. In the Coordinator waiting room, May was happy at seeing her friend's victory, but she kept studying Verity's strategy in a way so she could learn to get better at the next contest.
(After the finals)
Sometime later, Verity won the final match of the Contest with relative ease. Now after 3 long hard battles, she was on the center stage with her Lopunny, being awarded with the Slateport City Pokémon Contest Ribbon from the judges with confetti raining down on the stage. "And now the coveted Slateport Ribbon is presented to Verity and her Lopunny, which means the Slateport City Pokémon Contest is officially over. Until next time". Vivian announced as the crowd cheered for both Verity and Lopunny for their great performance and victory.
"Congratulations". Mr. Contesta congratulated Verity as he handed Verity her new ribbon, which she looked down at it in her hands with a happy smile. "Thank you". Verity thanked the director as she showed Lopunny the ribbon. "Look Lopunny, it's our new ribbon that we won, together". Verity said to her Normal Type, who gave a smile. "Lopunny". Lopunny replied to her trainer, happy that they won the contest and the ribbon. In the audience, Drew stood up from his seat and walked away with May noticing him leaving.
Later outside the building with the sun setting, Drew was walking away, until he was stopped by his new rival calling out to him, getting the green haired boy to turn towards the contest entrance and saw May stop in front of him. "What is it May? You want a rematch?" Drew asked the Petalburg girl as Max, Ash, Sorrel and Brock caught up to him and May. "Next time I won't be the loser". May told her rival with a confident look, getting Drew to smirk at her.
"Huh. Oh yeah, we'll just see. Of course, I'll be a lot stronger to, remember. Right". Drew replied as he walked away, saluting a see ya later hand sign to her. "Looks like Drew's even more determined than before". Ash remarked at seeing Drew was still in high spirits. "Pikachu". The Electric Mouse said in agreement to his best friend. "Yeah, how about you May?" Max asked his older sister, wondering what she'll do.
"You can do it. We'll all help you out". Brock told the 10-year-old, who smiled confidently. "Thanks a lot you guys. I'm done crying. From now on, I'm gonna become a great Coordinator and focus on my training and battling. Yeah, watch me!" May declared as she held up her right fist to the sky, her spirit stronger than ever.
Verity walked out of the building and had a proud smile at seeing May. "That's the spirit, May. You're all better now and next time, you'll be even better than before". Verity told her friend with a smile, getting everyone to look at her.
"Verity, congratulations on your victory today. You and Lopunny were incredible out there". Ash told his girlfriend with a proud smile. "I agree. I have to admit, you surprised us with Lopunny's ace in the sleeve. Lopunny's Mega Evolution looked both appealing and strong". Sorrel said in agreement, having enjoyed Verity's performances. "Thanks guys. I really appreciate it". Verity told her friends, happy that they were happy for her.
May looked at Verity with a nervous look on her face as she tried to speak. "Verity, do you think you can give me a tip or two on how to get better at contests?" May asked the older female, thinking she could teach her. Verity had a thoughtful look on her face, before she gave a smile
"Hmm. I suppose I could give you a little helping hand". Verity replied to her friend, deciding to help her out. "Great! One day, I plan to battle you on the stage and win, so don't get so confident Verity!" May declared, giving the older female a confident smirk, one that she returned. "Bring it on. I'll be waiting for the day we face each other in a contest". Verity told her rival as she and May hi-fived each other, as a new friendship and rivalry between the two was formed. Ash, Max, Brock, Pikachu and Sorrel watched the two new rivals with smiles, glad to see them getting along.
And done, I hope you all enjoyed that chapter. Anyway, the reason I didn't show May's match against Drew is because I didn't like how one sided it was, the writers could have at least had her land a couple of hits, or take some points away from Drew. Robert, I think he was a bit too perfect, so he needed to lose against Verity. Verity's match against Drew, if Drew had trouble against Robert, the results would be the same with someone who beat him, but next time Drew battles Verity, it'll be a whole lot better, I promise.
Anyway, Verity's gonna take a little break from Pokemon Contests for a while to train her Pokemon and catch up on lost time with Ash and Sorrel. I'm gonna do a Pokemon Contest at Petalburg City and that's when she gets back in the game. It'll be a non-cannon contest, so be surprised at what you'll see in that chapter. I might even add Solidad in it. Next chapter is the episode where Ash is mistaken as a hero by a boy. Ash teaches him how to have more confidence in himself. The next story I'll update will be my Tales of Berseria story and after that, Fairy Tail, so please be patient for the next chapter. See ya all later, and have a good time.
