CHAPTER 10
Sammy didn't say a word as he carried out these heinous acts. For anyone he couldn't safely take out with a gun, he managed to use a knife that the beige cat left in the truck to take out certain people silently. Turned out, this was a task he was going to have to finish by the next night, but he was willing to wait.
Sammy had looked punished at this point, his sweater had used to be a bright orange until getting slowly soaked with blood and frozen over, and though Jacob spent a while washing and fixing it, its colors had begun to fade and look murky. After numerous progressive killings that evening, the front and the sleeves had continued to become bloodied and form a menagerie of several red and brown colors. Sammy didn't like what he was becoming, but he knew in his mind things would only get sunnier with less people around to worry about.
The next day came and many, many sudden disappearances had been reported. Sammy had stayed low and hidden at the studio, but he knew this was something that couldn't take a while, as it would only get harder to accomplish as word of mouth continued to get out. He knew with willpower and Jacob's inspiration in mind, he could certainly get eliminate them all by sunrise, as long as he started by sunset.
Back at the forest near Dez and Maggie's mobile home, there'd been a particularly disturbed girl who tended to roam the forest, and ever since the past two gunshots she'd heard whilst strolling along, she'd been horribly on edge since.
Plancy was a somewhat naive girl with an annoyed, mean-spirited flower living in a flowerpot on her head, that sort of acted as a second conscience that reacted towards everyone she met and everything she did negatively – that is, unless he was pollinated, but we don't talk about that. Because of this negative second conscience, it was really hard for Plancy to make friends, but upon meeting Maggie, Maggie was smart enough to overlook her flower's negative comments and be friends with her for who she is.
Plancy and even her flower had been incredibly tense anytime they strolled through the forest for the past few months, and upon hearing about the recent disappearances, Plancy knew she couldn't just stick around. She decided to go to Maggie's home and convince her to hide with her so at least the both of them would be safe. Though Dez was hesitant, she let Maggie go, and she and Plancy took to the forest immediately.
"I see a good spot over there!" Said Plancy, pointing to a nearby cave. Her flower however had to object to this, "You call that a hiding spot?! Caves are where giant animals live, you must be out of your head!" "It's only for the night, flower! Then we'll find a new hiding spot, and we'll keep changing hiding spots until the culprit is captured!" "Man, If I had access to your brain right now I'd be making some SERIOUS changes."
Maggie reassured the two, "Do not worry, for if the murderer shows up to our cave, I am equipped with heat seeking military grade weaponry to defend ourselves with." She then demonstrated the giant chrome gun-like weapon forming upon her helmet to Plancy and her Flower's amazement. Plancy's flower wiped his brow, "Whew! Guess we don't need to worry about any intruders!" "You could say that much..." Said Maggie as the gun set itself back into her helmet, but she still felt very unsure of herself.
Maggie had only felt the way she did because back when she assembled the watch, she made it so she could track it and listen in to where it went too, and upon hearing Jacob and her father's conversations, it terrified her to know Sammy was out for blood, and based on the recent disappearances, she was extremely sure it was of her father's doing. Would Maggie be able to kill her father? Or would her father kill her before she got to fully consider the moral aspect of it all because he didn't?
Hours passed and the night grew as Sammy continued to take out everybody he felt was needed for the rebrand. The night had gotten dark and he'd become punished and grimey, especially when he was faced with the realization of his final target: Dear Maggie. It was almost like the universe knew what he was thinking, as the minute his eyes widened at this realization, his pupils glaringly small, thunder boomed and the sky flashed just before rain began to patter down onto him and streak down his stone cold face. He sighed, cocked his gun and made his way to his mobile home.
Sammy approached his home and kicked open the door. "WHERE THE FUCK IS MAGGIE?" He yelled at Dez, who had been sitting on the couch at that moment.
Dez was distressed, "You're not getting a hold of my daughter! You're gonna have to kill me instead!"
"I'm not gonna fucking kill you! Where's your phone?" Sammy needed Dez's phone to track an application he had installed in Maggie's helmet that was trackable on a device, in this case Dez's phone.
"You cruel son of a bitch, I'm not giving it to you!" Dez kept holding back. It was hard, but she kept resisting.
Sammy pointed the gun at her throat, "If I kill you, the company will be fucking ruined! Let me find Maggie!"
"How do I know you're not going to kill her?"
"GIVE ME THE FUCKING PHONE!"
Dez couldn't stand the yelling, so with tears in her eyes, she reluctantly handed Sammy her phone, and he took it without saying a word and left.
At this point, Plancy, her flower and Maggie had fallen asleep as the rain rumbled on the top of the cave. Unbeknownst to them however, a dark figure had began to approach them within the cave, and their distinct shadow crept up on them and behind the wall the slept near, towering over them and becoming more distinctively clear as the lightning flashed and the thunder boomed outside. Plancy's flower was the first to wake up because of the thunder, and was startled to be greeted by a withered figure holding a shotgun right in front of them.
"Plancy! PLANCY WAKE UP!" Plancy's flower tried shouting to get her up, but it was no use, as Plancy only woke up as Sammy shot the flowerpot upon her head, instantly killing the flower with it. "EEP!" Plancy had been frightened, but even more frightened upon the sight of this strange man. She tried to get away, but wasn't faster than the bullet that shot out of his gun. Maggie's fears had come true the second she woke up. "Father!" She cried. Sammy faced away from Plancy's dead body to look back at Maggie. "Father, please, don't do this!" She pleaded. Sammy had begun to reload and aim his gun at her, but for a second did he have a moment of consciousness. He thought to himself, 'She loves me...' But this was short lived, as his brain immediately told itself "SHE'S SCARED OF YOU. SHE DOESN'T MATTER. KILL HER." And to which, he did. All was quiet that night, except for the rain.
