Chapter eleven:

In the orphanage the three are sitting in Near's room late at night to discuss things.

"I did find the one who had brought us here in the first place. The possible way back home might be done possibly at least a few days." Matt tells Near. "And I am not sure if it will allow us to travel back to this world. But I can only guess."

"Hm. Well that could present a problem if we want to use this world to gain power." Near hums at this and glances down in thought as the two go quiet to let him think. He looks up to them once more as soon as he decides. "Well if we cannot return we will have to focus on what we can do in our home world. Maybe we can find a way to figure out how to travel back here however there is no guarantee to that. We could maybe try to get our hands on maybe some ID cards that the humans seem to like to use. Maybe we can use them to help in infiltrating the human cities in our world." He glances to Mello. "Did you find out anything that might be able to help in either world?"

"Well it sounds like there is a lot similarities here and our world. But they don't have any sort of creatures such as changelings. So they have never even heard of those like us at least those like us in our world." Mello tells Near who nods softly.

"Well if we can indeed find a way to invade this world then that will indeed be helpful. They won't actually really know how to defend themselves." Near confirms. "I followed some of them to a way to sneak out. I managed to explore the town a bit. Humans seem to enjoy a lot of simpler things in life. They go to different places and get whatever they want there. It does remind me of the city in our world. They live in different homes scattered around instead of one area. They will even turn on each other about things like even getting too close to ones home." He finishes since not much really needs to be said about this place.

"Your majesty what if we can find a way to create trouble within the city back at our world?" Mello's suggestion brings the other twos attention to him. "I mean since we can understand things from a human perspective while here then we can use that against the city back home. We could find a way to infiltrate places that will allow us to twist things and manipulate things. Then while they are having internal troubles we might be able to take the city."

"You raise a good idea." Near nods his head. "We will think that idea over more. For now we should all get some rest for the night."

The other two get up and leave the room to head to their own rooms. They pause on the way as Linda approaches them.

"You're not in your rooms?" Linda tilts her head at them.

"We may have the bodies of those from your world but that doesn't mean we have to follow everything you all do." Mello tells her. "Like you can really talk though. You're not in yours."

"I was going back. I just snuck out for a little water." Linda tries to play it off. "It's just you gotta be careful because the adults don't like us being out of our rooms at night. If you're caught you can get in trouble."

"Noted." Mello turns away as they are about to head to their rooms to rest.

"What were you guys doing?" Linda inquires making Mello sigh under his breath.

"That is none of your concern. We don't have to explain ourselves to humans." Mello tells her clearly guarded about actually opening up to humans. "You humans may try to get our trust but we can never truly trust you. Not since what the humans in our world have done. So you don't need to know what we were doing." He then goes to his room as Matt does the same.

Linda watches them go and gets a little huffy that they won't explain themselves. "Geez. You'd think they would be a bit more grateful that Roger is letting them stay here." She turns away and heads into her room. "But really what were they doing up? Were they having a meeting before bed? What do they not want others to overhear them talking about?" She isn't sure that she really likes these three and has a feeling that they might be up to something. She just isn't sure that she can really do anything. She's gone to Roger too much about these feelings and now he mainly dismisses her since most of the time her worries turn up nothing. She just can't shake the feeling. She goes to bed deciding that it is only because it isn't really them inside of their own bodies that is making her feel this way.

In the other world morning has come…

Mello who had just recently gotten up goes to join Near to help him shoulder the responsibility. He sees Matt smiling his way at seeing that the two are going to be working together. He decides to ignore it as a ginger haired male approaches him and Near.

This ginger male has orchard oriole wings folded on his back and hazel eyes. "Your majesty. Should we investigate the area that the humans were looking over? See if they have given up yet?" He inquires with a dip of his head to show as much respect as he can.

"Yes. We should. But remain hidden. Take only a small group. No more than three or four." Near confirms to which the ginger male nods.

"Oh and take Matt with you." Mello adds glancing to Matt. "He doesn't seem to be doing anything." He is actually planning that so that way at least one of them is going with the group.

Near nods to show that he agrees with that.

"Of course." The ginger male then heads over to Matt telling him which he glances to the two before begrudgingly agreeing to go.

Mello glances around as the male gets two others then heads off to do the check with Matt following along. He tries to see if there is anything else that needs their attention right now. He thinks he is starting to realize what Near meant by that it is a lot of responsibility that has to be shouldered. He finds himself having to watch out for anything and everything that might need their attention. He feels like even if a small fight breaks out he or Near will need to intervene in someway. He glances to Near who also glances around for anything like Mello had been doing. He isn't sure if the other saw him doing so already or not. He turns away to watch the others go about their day. His eyes end up settling on two who seem to be grooming each others wings plucking any feathers that need plucking. He can see that despite what they have to do in order to eat these changelings care about each other, and that they are ready to help their fellow changelings in anything. He feels like these changelings are way closer than any humans are to their community, city or town. He thinks that they are even closer and more helpful than those in the orphanage truly are. He finds himself almost a little jealous at how much support this place has. He shakes it off and turns back to Near who turns to look to him. "So. What next?" He inquires to the other.
