With one phone call Nazz had started something that she knew she'd have to see through to the end. Trying to chase Terrence off wasn't going to be as easy as it had been before. When the neighborhood had gone up against him before they had been middle schoolers, sure, but somehow they'd been stronger then. Now Terrence was on their turf and he was being more cautious about who he interacted with. Getting the better of the best scammer any of them had ever known was going to take a lot more than a group of scrappy and pissed of kids.

It was going to take careful consideration, planning, and a certain level of secrecy. Nazz trusted Marie to not go blabbing her mouth around to everyone in the neighborhood about what they were up to. Digging into Terrence wasn't going to be easy, especially since Nazz wasn't exactly technically inclined for that sort of thing. Nazz knew that Marie had that sort of expertise though, and that's exactly why she'd asked for her help.

Marie had been able to track down not only her own father but her sister's fathers as well. She'd done so with very little information about the men and with no assistance from her mother or sisters. Marie had told Nazz about it one day when they were walking home from school. Nazz was impressed that she'd been able to do it, so she knew finding dirt on Terrence should probably be an easy task for the blue-haired cyber sleuth.

They had decided to meet in the Peach Creek Public Library so that they wouldn't be restricted by the school's website blockers. Marie knew how to get around them, but she said that it would save time to just go to the public library.

The two girls walked to the library after school the day after Nazz had called Marie. The librarian gave them a smile and a wave as they walked by her. They found an empty computer that was in a more isolated area than the others. Nazz pulled a notebook from her backpack as they sat down at the desk. If they found anything she wanted to be sure she wrote it down.

Marie put in her code for the computer and the two girls sat quietly while the machine started up slowly. Nazz nervously tapped a pen on her notebook. She wasn't sure what she was expecting to find, or if they would find anything at all. If this search for information didn't turn anything up she knew she would have to find a different way to get Terrence away from her friends.

Marie noticed the worry on Nazz's face. "You okay Blondie?"

Nazz sighed and stopped tapping her pen. "I don't know what he's doing and it's bothering me. What does he want with Double D?"

Marie folded her arms and leaned back in her chair. "I couldn't say. But what I can say is that Terrence sounds like a narcissist. Even if he doesn't actually want anything from Double D he's probably gettin' his jollies from watching the chaos as he drives a wedge between Eddy and his friend."

"Maybe, but if that's why he came back to Peach Creek, then why now after all this time? "

The computer made a binging noise as the home screen came up. Marie quickly pulled up her favorite search engine and looked at Nazz.

"I can't say why he came back either, but I can dig up every piece of dirt available online about the guy. So where do you want me to start?" Marie's confidence in her abilities was reassuring.

Nazz looked at her notebook, "let's just start with a general search for his name I guess, and then go from there."

Marie placed a hand to her forehead as if she were a soldier saluting a superior. "Aye aye, captain."

Nazz wrote down every idea they had as they searched, she wanted to make sure that they weren't just repeating the same things over and over. It felt like an endless process. They searched every iteration of Terrence's name that they could think of, but they kept finding nothing to go on. They tried searching for his name with his birthday, his name without his birthday: nothing. They searched for his middle name paired with just his last name, and his full name: again, nothing. Search after search and Nazz was running out of ideas.

Nazz shoved her notebook across the desk and stood up to pace behind Marie. Marie leaned back in her chair again and watched the blonde for a minute before she remembered something.

"Hey, Nazz, do you remember the name of that amusement park that Terrence was working at back in the day?" She asked, still slouching in her seat.

Nazz stopped in her tracks and turned to Marie. "You're a genius. I'm pretty sure it was the Mondo A-Go Go Amusement Park."

Nazz sat back down in her seat as Marie typed. When she pressed the search button some news articles about the amusement park came up.

Suspects At Large: Fraud, Embezzlement, And Murder

The two girls stared at the titles of the articles.

"This can't be right, look here at the description." Nazz pointed at the screen.

"Randall Hughes and TJ Terrence." Marie read the names aloud.

"See it only matched because of the guy's last name. It's not him." Nazz said with a look of disappointment clouding her face.

Marie let out a short snicker. "So you're disappointed that your boyfriend's brother isn't a murderer?"

"No. I'm relieved he isn't a murderer. I'm disappointed that we didn't find anything." She explained.

Nazz buried her face in her hands in frustration. She didn't know what she was going to do now. How could she protect her friends from someone who was clearly trying to ruin their friendship?

Marie placed one hand on Nazz's back to comfort her and used her other hand to click on one of the articles.

Scandal At Mondo A-Go-Go

Upon the death of Mr. Murray Mondo, owner of Mondo A-Go Go Amusement Park, investigators believe they have uncovered evidence that Mr. Mondo was murdered by a former employee of the park who had been embezzling funds from the owner. Investigators recovered a gun from the office where Mr. Mondo was shot and have since found that the gun is registered to one Randall Hughes. The most shocking part of this incident is that it happened barely two weeks after an accident at the amusement park where one of the rides broke down with patrons on it. The accident resulted in the death of one person, and the injuries of at least a dozen more. When the accident took place Mr. Mondo released a statement that he would be hiring a team to look into what happened. He also stated that he was saddened for the families of the injured and deceased. When contacted for a statement the family of the deceased declined and asked that we not reveal the name of their loved one.

Upon further investigation into the death of Mr. Mondo, it was revealed that the shooter, Randall Hughes, had been seen entering Mr. Mondo's office with another employee named TJ Terrence that evening. Authorities say that they have looked into the backgrounds of both men and have concluded that Randall Hughes' partner was using an alias. According to the team Mr. Mondo hired to investigate the accident, Hughes and Terrence had been stealing from Mr. Mondo for nearly five years. Our sources have revealed that Hughes started working for the company before recommending Terrence as an outside contractor. Terrence had been impersonating a representative of a company that has requested to remain unnamed.

An actual representative from the company had this to say: "We are truly sorry for the incidents that have been brought to light regarding the ongoing investigation at the Mondo A-Go Go Amusement Park, but seeing as how it was not any of our employees that were actually involved we would like to keep our company from being involved or misrepresented by these incidents."

The family of Mr. Mondo is urging anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Randall Hughes to come forward. They are also urging anyone with any information about the identity or whereabouts of TJ Terrence to come forward as well.

"My father was a man of integrity who only wanted to bring joy and fun to the families who visited his park. He was looking to retire after this upcoming season, he wanted to have one last summer at the park. He was a kind man who was being taken advantage of by people he thought he could trust, and it cost him his life." His eldest son, Mitchel Mondo, said in his statement. Authorities have set up a tip line and provided photographs of the suspects which will be placed at the end of this article.

Maries kept rubbing Nazz's back as she read the article. The blue-haired girl scrolled to the bottom of the article and gasped when she saw the pictures at the bottom. One of the men was completely unfamiliar, but the other one she recognized immediately. His face was unshaven, and the shirt on his work uniform was stained, but she knew the look in his eyes because she'd seen it before.

"Nazz, look." She whispered.

Nazz lifted her head from her hands and looked up at the computer screen. One picture was of some greasy-looking guy, the other was Eddy's brother.

"Marie, scroll up." She demanded.

Marie did as she said and scrolled back to the top of the article before passing the mouse over to Nazz so she could scroll at her own pace. As the blonde ran through the article her jaw slowly dropped. She couldn't believe that this is what they were dealing with. When she was finished reading it she slowly leaned back in her chair and stared at the screen.

Thinking quickly Marie decided to print out the article. She knew which printer to connect to so that the librarian wouldn't find the printout. Nazz sat there dumbfounded while Marie took care of their evidence. When Marie sat back down next to her Nazz hugged her.

"I'm so sorry I got you into this." She whispered.

Marie laughed quietly. "What are you talking about?"

Nazz stopped hugging her so that she could look her friend in the eye. "Marie, if what this article says is true then Terrence is a lot more dangerous than any of us realized. And now that we know what happened and why he's here if he finds out… It could end badly."

Marie shook her head. "Nazz, don't worry. He's not going to hurt us."

"You don't know that. He may not have been the one to shoot that guy, but he's just as responsible for it. We have to be very careful about what we do next. If something happened to any of you because I decided to play detective I don't know what I'd do." Nazz's voice was shaking as she spoke.

"Look, I think I have a plan. We just need to get Double D and Big Ed to help us out. Okay?"

Again, Marie's confidence in herself pushed Nazz forward. Nazz trusted Marie. She knew that the other girl wouldn't do anything to put them in any real danger. "Okay, let's get out of here."

AN: Well this wasn't a twist that I had originally planned when I started this fic, but I guess things change when you leave a fic for as long as I did. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
