Evelyn's p.o.v.
Slowly, I open my eyes as the golden light hits my face. I turn away from it, embracing the fluffy pillow under my head. Yesterday, it took me a good half hour to find my new bedroom and the moment I walked in, I just tossed myself onto the soft covers, falling asleep almost immediately.
I pull the blanket over my head and inhale the flowery smell. Before I can doze off once again, I hear a few knocks on the door.
"Who is it!?, I yell, not moving an inch.
"Thor.", I hear a strong voice from the other side of the door.
"It's unlocked, come in!"
I hear the door open and then close.
"You're going to suffocate.", he comments.
"I wanna sleep a bit more.", I say, making myself comfortable under the blanket.
"You can't. Breakfast starts in an hour.", he informs me then takes the soft cover off of me.
"Go away.", I say, placing the pillow over my head.
"Come on Evie, you stink."
"If I can't smell it, then it's not real.", I say, giggling like a child.
Suddenly, I feel a pair of arms around my waist.
"Hey!", I yell as he picks me up, trowing me over his shoulder.
"What are you doing?", I ask as he starts to walk.
"I'm going to shower you.", he tells me, opening the bathroom door.
"Put me down, I can do it myself.", I say, wiggling my body.
"How's your head?", he asks as my bare feet touch the cold tiles.
"It's fine.", I say, touching my temple.
"Did you call Fury?"
"No, I went straight to bed after I finally found my room.", I say, looking around the bathroom.
It's a small room but strategically organized. Walls are covered with dark green tiles and the floor is grey with black smoke-liked stripes. There's a white toilet, few shelves, white sink with one golden pipe and a matching bathtub.
I look at Thor who's still standing in front of me, "Can I have some privacy or are you going to guard me as I shower?"
"My apologize.", he tells me and walks out, closing the door behind him.
I take my clothes off and step into the bathtub. I battle with myself whether to was my hair now or later but decide that I didn't have time for it right now.. Most women deal with this problem.
After a quick wash up, I wrap a big, white towel around my body and step out of the bathroom. I'm not the shy type so walking around Thor, with just a towel on is not a problem.
"You're fast."
"My showers are always fast.", I say, standing in front of a big, wooden closet.
Opening it, I see a bunch of clothes inside. Not something I would usually wear but I need to blend in.
I pull out a black dress with long sleeves, only thing that looks normal enough for me to put on.
I start walking back to the bathroom when I hear three slow knock on the door. Thor stands up and, before I could say something, opens the door wide enough so the person standing in front of it can see me.
I'm comfortable being half naked around Thor, not other people that I don't know. Or barely know, in this particular situation.
Severus's eyes go from Thor, to me.
"Good morning.", he speaks slowly.
"Morning.", Thot greets him.
"Hey.", I smile uncomfortably, waving a little.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but I'm here to inform you that breakfast will be served in half an hour, in the Great Hall."
Thor smiles, "We know that. Albus show me where the Great Hall is so we'll manage, but thank you."
Severus nods and walks away.
"He's a little weird, don't you think?", Thor asks after closing the door, looking at me.
I don't say anything, just stare at him, hoping he'll realize my problem with his action.
"What?", he asks, blinking a few times in confusion.
I sigh, "Nothing. And yes, he's weird."
"I think he's a little like Loki."
"God forbid that's the case.", I say, walking into the bathroom again.
"Stop pulling on your clothes, you look weird.", Thor tells me as we walk towards the Great Hall.
"The fabric is weird.", I say, tugging on the dress.
"Stop it.", he tell me, slapping my hand off.
"Your clothes look way comfortable then mine.", I say, looking at him.
"I'm not switching with you.", he tells me with a smile as we enter the Great Hall.
The room is huge, medieval like, and there are big tables lined up in few rows. The ceiling is filled with levitating candles and it looks stunning. I see Minerva, Albus, Severus and another female, sitting down at the end of the hall, at a high table. Walking towards them, I see a few students eating breakfast and that confuses me since Albus told us that the children are yet to come.
"Good morning. How is your head?", Albus asks when we get close enough.
I smile, "Morning. It's okay."
"Where you able to find your living quarter?", he asks and I look at Severus, "Yes, I did."
We climb up and I sit next to Severus, while Thor sits next to me. Food is already on the table so I pile up my plate, feeling really hungry and the food does look delicious. I eat in silence until remembering the question I wanted to ask.
"Did the students arrive early?", I question, covering my mouth with my hand while I eat.
Severus looks at me, "Do you see students?"
I stop chewing and look in front of me, "Well ...yea?"
"These are students who lost their parents or care takers and have no place to go.", he informs me, continuing to eat.
"Oh.", I say, looking at the once again.
Some of them are smiling and chatting, a few of them are sitting alone, eating but there's one girls who seem to be here physically but her mind is far away. Whatever happened to her, probably happened not so long ago. I immediately feel bad for her, remembering myself after my parents died. I probably had the same empty look in my eyes as she does. God knows what would have happened to me if Tony wasn't there.
"This is delicious.", Thor speaks, bringing my focus back to my food.
"It is.", I say, suddenly loosing my appetite.
"Sure? You don't seem to enjoy it much.", he comments, looking at my plate.
I force a smile, "I'm a slow eater."
"Well, hurry up because we have work to do."
I look at my dress and pull on it once again. Thor sees me and slaps my hand away.
"Do you have any pants or something more ...functional?", I ask out loud and Minerva looks at me, "You don't like dresses?"
"I do but I can't run around the grounds, looking for robots with a dress on."
Albus smiles to me, "I'm going to ask our house elf's to provide you with something more comfortable."
I nod in gratitude, wanting to ask more questions about house elf's but not wanting so sound so out of place.
After finishing my meal, Thor and I rush towards my room. Closing the door behind me, I press a few buttons on my watch and call Fury.
"Morning Evie."
"Hey."
"You have something for me?"
"I do. Yesyerday we had a close encounter with one of the robots. We didn't disable him but I did succeed to shoot him and a metal part fell off. It has a number engraved, like a serial number."
"Read it."
"0764536756."
"Nothing.", he tells me after a few seconds of silence.
"Shit.", I mutter.
"How does the part look?"
"It's just a silver metal plate with the number on it, that's it.", I say, turning the part and inspecting it.
"I'll need more than just a number."
"We're going to search the woods today so hopefully, we can give you more info.", Thor tells him.
"Good. Call me when you do that."
"I'm going to get my hammer and your sword, then we can go.", he tells me standing up and I nod.
After he leaves, I look around my new room. The big bed is placed next to the door and a fireplace is on the other end of the room. In front of it, there are two purple velvet armchairs and a round, wooden table between them. Behind is a bookshelf and right next to it, by the window is a writing desk. In front of the bed is a big closet and next to the closet is the bathroom door. Small but cozy, I like it.
I stand in front of the closet and open it. Going trough the clothes, I see a lot of dresses, one long, black winter coat, a black scarf, few long sleeved and short sleeved T-shirts and three types of high heels. No pants, no sneakers. I sigh in disappointment but then remember that I always carry extra clothes in my backpack. Opening it, I go trough the stuff and see a bag with some shoes in it.
I frown, not remembering I put shoes in. I pull running shoes out of the bag and theres a white paper in one of them.
"I had a feeling you will need them.
Steve."
I smile, reading the note. Steve and I go running a lot and the last time we went, he told me I needed new running shoes and that he will buy me a pair for my birthday. I guess my birthday gift came earlier this year.
I go trough my backpack once again and feel relief when I pull out a white Iron man T-shirt and black yoga pants. Tony was so proud when he saw that they made merch themed on him and made me buy a shirt.
I hear a few knocks on the door and walk to it, opening it.
I see a short, big eared, big nosed creature standing in front of me, holding clothes in his hands.
I guess this is an house elf.
"Miss Stark, I bring you some extra clothes.", he tells me, handing me the stuff.
I smile, "Thank you."
"Headmaster told me to inform you about the gala dinner Hogwarts is having tonight. All the professors will be back and he wants you to meet them. The dinner starts at seven."
I nod, "Thank you for the info."
"You're welcome.", he tells me and then snaps his fingers, disappearing into the thin air.
"Wow.", I comments with a small smile.
"Miss Stark.", I hear a voice calling my name.
Looking to my left, I see Severus approaching me.
"Yes?"
"I suppose Dumbledore didn't explain you the rules of this school so I'm taking the liberty to do it."
I frown, feeling like I did something wrong.
"We teach young children here and any inappropriate behaviors can cause damage."
"I don't understand.", I say, shaking my head, smiling a little.
"Keep your love life as private as possible.", he tells me, now standing in front of me.
I raise my eyebrow, "My love life?"
"It would be inappropriate for students to see your ...companion leave your room in the morning."
I frown once again, not understanding what he's saying, but soon enough, it clicks.
"Thor? He's my friend, we're not sleeping together. He just came to inform me about breakfast."
"Sure.", he comments, obviously not believing me.
"I'm serious, he came just-", he raises his hand and stops me from talking.
"I don't care.", he informs me and walks away.
I sigh and make a face, entering my room again and looking through the clothes the house elf has provided me with. It all looks very Oliver Twist like and I can't really use it but I don't want to complain. I'm sure Tony can send me something normal to wear, outside of the classroom.
For now, I put on my yoga pants, white T-shirt and running shoes Steve bought me. Non of this will protect me from any possible injuries but I am undercover so I'll just have to deal with it. Walking out, I see Thor approaching me, carrying his hammer and a sword.
I smile, "Hey honey, nice to meet you."
Thor looks at me with a confused face, "We know each other."
"I was talking to the sword.", I say, taking it from his hand.
Pulling it out, I toss it in the air. It makes a few turns before I gracefully catch it by the handle, making a few more turns with my wrist.
Thor smiles, "I was afraid you rusted. Glad to see it's not the case."
I smile, "I did have the best teacher."
"You sure did. Come on, let's kick some robot ass."
I turn the map on my watch and we walk out of the castle. Hagrid waits for us at the entrance into the Forbidden forest and we continue our walk.
We searched the area as best as we could but nothing. Not a single clue. Everything seemed normal... well, as normal as it can be in the wizard world. It took us hours to go trough the areas where the robots have been seen but we didn't notice anything unusual.
"You know about the dinner?", Thor asks as we are returning back.
"Yea but I still have one question.", I say, looking at him.
"I know I'm a teacher here but what are you?"
He smiles, "I'm your assistant."
"And how exactly are you going to assist me?", I ask.
"Emotional support.", he tells me and I laugh, "That will be interesting."
"Come on, let's get ready for the dinner. I have a feeling it's going to be fun.", he tells me, walking towards his room.
I'm about to enter my chamber when I see a female student sitting on a bench, looking out of the window. I recognize her, the girl that didn't eat her breakfast.
I debate with myself but finally decide to approach her.
"Is everything okay?", I ask in a soft voice.
She turns her head towards me, her eyes glazing up and down my body, "Are you the new teacher?"
I smile, sitting next to her, "Yea. I'm the new Muggle studies teacher."
"Evelyn Stark?", she asks, looking at my Iron man T-shirt.
"Yes.", I say, not sure if I should even answer her question.
"My parents where muggles, we used to live in New York. I like Iron man. He's my favorite Avenger."
I smile, "Is he? Tony will be happy to hear he has a fan at Hogwarts."
"Are you an Avenger?", she asks.
"I am but it's a secret. Can you keep a secret?", I ask and she nods.
"What's your name?", I ask her.
"Maria."
I smile, "That was my mom's name."
"Did she also die? Like my mom?"
I nod, "She did."
"How old where you?"
"I was eight."
"My mom died last year ...she was very sick.", Maria tells me, looking at the ground.
"I'm sorry to hear that.", I say, placing my hand over hers.
"How did your mom die?"
My parents where killed.
"My parents died in a car accident."
"Do you miss them?", she asks with a soft voice that breaks my heart.
"Every day.", I say.
She puts her legs on the bench and places her head on her knees, "Sometimes, I feel alone."
I remove her pitch black hair and put my hand on her back, "I know but you have me. If you need a talk or anything else, just tell me."
"I need to go now. Will you be attending the dinner party?", she asks, standing up.
"I will."
She smiles, "Great. See you there. Bye."
She sets off, running, leaving me with a bitter feeling in my heart.
