Evelyn's p.o.v.
I wake up with a massive headache. Touching my temple I realize that the wound has reopened. I remember hitting a rock with my head when I threw myself away, dogging the metal peaces the explosion caused to fly in every direction.
I crawl out of bed and put on a bathrobe, opening the front door and walking towards the only person that I know can help me solve my issue. I knock on the storage door but no one answers. Realizing that he most certainly doesn't sleep there, I go down the hall, knocking on every door I see. I'm about to give up but hear an unlocking sound and turn around.
Severus steps out of his room, his eyes still half closed, "What on Earth are you doing?"
"My head's bleeding again.", I say, removing the blood soaked sleeve from the wound.
He runs his eyes and sighs, "Come on in."
Walking into his bedroom, I see it's exactly the same as mine, only the colors are different.
"Sit.", he orders, pointing at a green chair and I obey.
"I'm sorry form waking you up.", I say, actually whisper.
"Let me see.", he tells me, bending over me.
I remove my hand from the bleeding area and he puts his cold fingers on my chin, tilting my head a little while his other hand goes up, removing some hair from the wound.
I can feel his warm breath on my neck and it smells like alcohol.
Kinda early to start drinking.
"It doesn't look too bad.", he tells me, looking into my eyes.
For a few seconds, I felt like the time has stopped. His fingers are still on my chin and his face is only inches away from mine. Looking at him this close, he's actually a handsome man. His cold, dark brown eyes turn warmer for a moment. My body numbs up the second his eyes land on my lips. Before I could do or say anything, he backs away. I blink a few times, trying to wrap my brain around what just happened.
He enters the bathroom and brings me a small green hand towel.
"Put this on and press it tightly while I go search for the medicament."
I nod, taking the towel from his hands.
When he leaves, I stand up and circle around the small room. It's really tidy and organized but there are no pictures or some personal stuff that could indicate me something about his life ...just books and random papers.
I see a bottle of whiskey placed on the fireplace and a glass beside it. The bottle is half empty and there's a stain of brown liquor at the bottom of the thick glass. Someone like's to drink at night. I notice a small drawer next to the fire place and, looking towards the door first, I open a compartment. Papers and a few pens in the first one so I open another but I see nothing expect a few notebooks. Opening the last one, I see a scared and gold striped winter scarf with a lion sewed into it. Touching the fabric, I feel something hard beneath it and pull out a framed picture. Girl and a boy, standing next to each other, dressed in uniforms, smiling at the camera.
Suddenly, I hear fast footsteps walking towards the room and I close the compartment, instinctively putting the framed picture in the bathrobe pocket. I run towards the armchair and, seconds before the door opens, sit in my place.
Severus walks in, holding the same bottle he used for my wound earlier. His eyes land on me and he stops moving. I feel my heart race, thinking that he noticed I went trough his stuff.
"What?", I ask, looking back at him.
"I gave you the towel for a reason."
"Oh, yea.", I say, grabbing the towel and placing it back on my head.
He pours the liquid on a cloth and hands it over to me, "Here ...and if it bleeds again, go to the hospital wing."
"Where's the hospital wing?"
"Fourth floor, on the left. You will see the red cross at the end of the hallway."
I nod, "Okay, thanks."
"You can go now.", he informs me and I step out of his room.
Walking towards my bedroom, I can feel the picture in the pocket.
How the hell am I going to return that?
I enter my room and decide to worry about the picture later ...now, I have much bigger problems.
Yesterday, I noticed that Tony put his number in my watch and I called him but he didn't answer, so I'm calling him once again.
"Hey Evie.", his voice breaks trough.
"Well finally.", I say, rolling my eyes.
"I feel asleep in the workshop and left my phone in the car. Something happened?"
"A lot has happened."
"Fury told us about the serial number."
"It's 076453-"
"6756.", Tony whispers.
"Yes."
"That's one of my suits. One of the first that I made, more a prototype actually."
"Yesterday we successfully took one down but it self-destructed. Before blowing up, I saw the machine ...it's your suit ...or a look alike."
"That can't be. All of the prototypes are locked in the storage. My security system would catch up if someone broke in."
"Go and check, it can't be a coincidence."
"Sure. I'll call you in few minutes."
He hangs up and I take my bloody bathrobe off. I still have an hour until breakfast so there's plenty of time to wash the blood out f my hair. Opening the closet, I take some pants and a collar shirt out of it and lay it neatly on the bed.
I enter the bathroom and let the water run in the bathtub. Taking my sleeping clothes off, my watch starts to ring.
"I'm listening."
Tony sighs, "Three of the prototypes are gone. Someone must've hacked the security system."
"Don't your suits have GPS tracking softwares?"
"They do but I doubt it we will find them. Whoever is smart enough to hack the security, is smart enough to disable GPS."
"Is there anything you can do?"
"If they have an active system, I could maybe be able to crack it and get some info from it but it will take time and I don't promise anything."
"I understand. Call me when you're done. Bye."
"Did you call Fury?", Thor asks on our way towards the Great Hall.
"I called Tony. Three of his suits are missing."
"Damn."
"He will try and get some informations from the active system and call me when he's done."
We enter the Great Hall and I see most of the teachers at the high table. Joining them, I take my seat next to Severus. Remembering the weird situation from before, I hesitate a little before sitting next to him.
"How's your head?", he asks after a few minutes of silence.
"Better. Thank you again and sorry for waking you up."
He doesn't say anything so I continue with my breakfast.
From the corner of my eye, I see Minerva approaching me, carrying a few books. Yesterday she told me she would provide me with literature for my class.
"Here are the books I promised you.", she tells me smiling and I smile back, "Thank you very much."
"If you need any help with your subject, don't hesitate to ask."
I nod, "Sure."
"Oh and yes, today, dinner will start an hour earlier. Students will be back and the sorting ceremony will take palace."
I frown, "Sorting ceremony?"
"There are four houses in Hogwarts. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Every year when new students come, they are sorted in houses according to their abilities and personalities. They receive and loose house points according to their behavior and knowledge. You as a teacher give them points or take away points, and give them detention if needed."
I nod, "I understand."
"Every hose has a Head of the house. I'm of Gryffindor, professor Sprout is of Hufflepuff, professor Flitwick of Ravenclaw and professor Snape of Slytherin. If any of our students become too much for you to handle, come to us."
"Okay."
"You will be teaching Muggle studies to third year and forth year students."
"Sure."
"Well, I think this is it. Have a nice meal.", she pats me on the back and leaves.
Thor and I are walking towards the classroom when my watch rings again.
"Please tell me you found something."
"I did. I drew out the last locations of suits. Not much but that's the only think I could do. One location is near London, we are getting ready to fly there and the other is in Godric's Hollow. Fury ordered you not to go there until we're finished with our mission."
"Where the fuck is Godric's Hollow?", I ask frowning.
"Hey, beats me. I barely know where the hell we're going."
"Great. Can you send me the location?"
"Already done.", he tells me and I hear a beep from the watch.
"Great. Take care and keep me informed."
"Sure. Bye."
"The place doesn't sound familiar.", Thor tells me.
I turn the map on and seek the location.
"You have to be fucking kidding me.", I say, looking at the red dot.
"What?", Thor asks, looking over to the watch.
"It's four hundred miles away from here. Seriously?"
"If you use the Floo network, you'll be there in a minute.", we hear Dumbledores voice behind us.
"Floo network?", Thor asks.
"You take the Floo powder, stand into a fireplace thats connected to another fireplace and trowing the powder down to your feet, the portal opens and you travel. When time comes, I will show you how it's done."
"I traveled trough portals a lot but never trough a fireplace.", Thor tells him.
"Yes, a lot of unusual things here, for you. But I wanted to talk with you about something else. We need to protect you."
"Protect us?", I ask.
"Well, just you. Gods are immune to our magic. Muggles aren't", he informs us and Thor smiles proudly.
"I thought Thor was here, partly for my protection."
"If someone attacks you with a spell, he won't be able to save you."
I knit my eyebrows, "Okay. What do you have in mind?"
"Protection spells work ...a little strange when it comes to muggles but protection potions have proven to be a good deal. Severus made a potion for you and you will drink it every three days. The potion will protect you from everything except the Unforgivable curses ...dark magic."
"And the curses are?"
"Cruciatus curse, Imperius curse and the killing curse."
"So if someone tries to kill her, the potion won't do anything.", Thor states.
"We do not allow the use of dark magic in Hogwarts."
"The same way you didn't have robots here, and now you do.", Thor tells him.
"Hey, it's okay.", I say, looking at Thor.
"We will do everything that we can to keep you as safe as we can.", Dumbledore tells me.
"I know. And I'm okay with that, don't worry."
Albus nods and walks away.
"Does Fury know about this?", Thor asks.
"It doesn't matter, just let it go.", I say.
"Let it go? You can die at anytime. Their protection is just fictional really. You should go back to America, I can handle this situation on my own."
"I'm not going back. I came here to do a job and I won't leave until I finish it."
Thor smiles sarcastically, "You are painfully naive."
"Maybe I am but that's my problem."
"You're a child stuck in a war field, hoping that someone will protect you. If something happens to you, that's on me and I don't want to carry that cross around.", he tells me and rushes away.
"Thor. Thor!", I call after him but he turns around the corner, leaving me behind.
"Fucking shit."
"We do not curse in the hallways ...or anywhere where the students could hear us.", I hear a dull voice behind me.
I sigh, turning around, "Seriously?"
"Yes ...seriously."
"I'm angry so I need to vent."
"Find another way to vent."
"Well, since night drinking isn't really my style and I doubt you have a punching bag here, saying fucking shit is how I vent.", I say, immediately regretting the first part.
Even though he didn't say anything, he quickly realized that the first part was about him. Turning on his heels, he walks away, leaving me feeling like a complete shit. God knows what the guy is going trough on a daily basis and here I am, crapping all over it.
Can this day get any worse?
The moment I think that, I feel something warm glide down my cheeks. Whipping it away, I see my fingers covered in blood.
"Oh, come on!", I say in frustration, covering the once again bleeding wound with my sleeve and rushing towards the hospital wing.
