Monty's systems began to come back online, the last thing he remembered was tearing Moondrops head off, and then he saw Evan fall over and-
"Evan!" He shouted, his eyes snapping open, leaping up onto his feet… Wait.
Monty examined himself, looking down at his functioning legs, he shifted his weight back and forth, before looking around to find that he was inside of the parts and service protective cylinder.
He walked up to the door, and saw himself through the reflection. He looked almost brand new.
Just as he was about to start banging on the glass, the door opened. Peering out, he saw Evan laying down on a white table. He rushed over immediately, checking to see if Evan was okay. He was relieved to find that he was awake as well.
Evan groaned as he tried to sit up, having to be helped by Monty. "Hey… Monty."
"Evan, are you okay?" Monty blurted out, "I told you to run to the recharge station!"
"I'm okay… Just a little banged up." Evan reassured the gator.
"I hate to interrupt you two, but I've got some good news and bad news." A voice said.
Monty turned around and almost jumped out of his skin at the naked endoskeleton standing in front of the parts and service terminal.
"Monty it's okay, this is N. He brought us here, and fixed you up." Evan said, placing his hand on Monty's shoulder and getting off of the table.
"Pleased to meet you Montgomery." N says, reaching his hand out towards Monty.
Monty uncomfortably inches his way over to the skeleton, and shakes his hand, hastily moving back over to Evan.
"So, what's the bad news?" Evan asks, Montgomery nods while trying to stare at N.
"Well, the bad news is that this place has… Changed in the time since you've been here last. As you know, it's much more dangerous now, And you're in no shape to be fighting whatevers lurking around now." N explains.
Monty and Evan look at each other, and Evan looks down at his chest.
"What's the good news?" Monty asks, looking back to N.
"The good news is that I've learned a few things from watching the mechanics, and I think I might have a way to help you. You might be stuck in the pizzaplex, but that doesn't mean you have to be stuck in parts and service." N said, looking at Monty.
"Wait, you don't mean…" Monty opened up his chest cavity revealing a space inside. "This, do you?"
"Um… No. That would be too small. I'm talking about a headset, I've seen some mechanics talking about it. It was originally going to be used in Roxy's Raceway, allowing kids to control the driver bots directly and eliminate risk of injury, but it was cut, and only the prototype headset exists."
"Oh, I see. I could pilot one of the Staff bots around then, right?" Evan said.
"Essentially, yes." N replied, nodding. "But it's in the security office of Roxy's Raceway, and like I said, you're in no position to be going anywhere."
"So I'll just go get it." Monty said triumphantly, "Piece of cake!"
"Heh, I was actually going to suggest that," N chuckled. "But yes, you have to go retrieve the Headset, but be careful."
"Hey, I'm Montgomery Gator, I can handle myself!" He says, puffing out his chest slightly.
"Just so long as heights aren't involved." Evan teased, as Monty immediately turned around and apologized several more times.
Afterwards Evan spoke up again. "Are you sure it's safe down here?"
"Yes, I don't know how, but they haven't seem to have made their way down here. And if Monty takes the back elevator, it should stay that way." N explains. "It might be the safest place right now."
"Alright, I'll be right back then." Monty says, turning to look at Evan. "I'll get you that headset, you just stay here, and stay safe, okay?"
"You sure you'll be okay out there on your own?" Evan asks.
Monty stops for a moment, then takes the purple star-shaped sunglasses off of his head, placing them on Evan.
"Now I've got to make it back, take care of these for me okay?" Monty smiled softly, as he ruffled up Evans' hair.
"Heheh, alright, I'll see you when you get back then." Evan replied, smiling right back at the giant gator.
"Just go up the elevator to Roxanne's room. It's the only one that works." N said, pointing up at four marked doors.
Monty nodded, and took the door leading back to Roxy's room. From there he walked to Roxy's Raceway without seeing anyone. It was a bit lonely, but at least it was quick.
Once he got to the shutter, he carefully lifted it up and stepped inside. It was nice being able to open those, now that he had legs again.
Looking around inside, he noticed that it still seemed to be heavily under construction. Tarps were draped everywhere and boxes of materials.
Walking through a tunnel of shipping containers, Monty arrived at a locked gate. Doing what he does best, Monty took a couple steps back, and rammed the gate at full speed, breaking it open with ease.
"I still got it." He says, chuckling to himself. Moving on he found himself at the second gate, the door to the raceway proper.
He quickly pulls the door and walks through, looking around. The area is still filled with construction equipment and various supplies.
Unsure of what he's looking for, he decides to walk down to the gift shop. Walking in, he sees the same ravaged interior that has been becoming more commonplace lately.
"Yeesh, this place is a mess." Monty says, stepping over a pile of helmets. As he continues to the back, he begins to hear the faint sound of sobbing.
Deciding to investigate, he opens the door to the storage room, it's still equally destroyed. In the far corner of the room, huddled up and quietly crying, was a familiar figure.
"Roxy?" Montgomery asks, taking a couple steps into the room.
The wolf stopped crying and looked up at Monty, he winced as he saw how damaged her face was. Her eyes were completely missing, the shell around them broken.
"Who's there? Tell me who you are!" She stood up and took a fighting stance.
"Roxy, calm down, it's me, Montgomery Gator." Monty took a couple steps towards her, hands out in front of him.
"Monty? What are you doing here? I thought you were…" She dropped her stance and began to slowly walk towards him, arms outstretched.
"Broken? Yeah, I was. But you'll never guess who I ran into." Monty grabbed Roxanne's hands. "I got fixed, and we can fix you too."
"Did you find freddy? Chica? Who else-" She stops when the two hear a thud coming from outside the shop. "Oh no, they're back."
Monty looks at Roxy, confused. "Who's back?"
"The monsters! You have to get out of here!" She said in a low panicked tone.
The duo's attention was immediately grabbed by the sound of something else walking into the giftshop. Something heavy.
