~Chapter Six: Never Insult a Hippogriff~
It was a beautiful, sunny morning over the Hogwarts campus as Draco and Alyona finished with their first classes of the day.
Draco walked his beloved to her transfiguration class before heading off to care of magical creatures.
As they walked down the hall together, they passed by Pansy and her goons, Tracy and Daphne.
Pansy and Tracy glared their usual daggers at Alyona while Daphne subtly nodded with a smile, which did not go unnoticed by two girls.
"What was that!? Pansy snapped.
"Oh, uh…that nod was aimed at Draco," Daphne responded, trying to cover her politeness towards the Blossom girl.
Pansy's face became sour, "Well either way, knock it off!"
Daphne rolled her eyes and continued to walk away with her group.
Upon arriving to class, Alyona gave her Slytherin boyfriend a quick smooch before watching him confidently strut away down the stone corridor.
Once Draco was out of sight, Alyona quickly took her seat next to Ginny. Seeing this caused the Weasley girl to chuckle.
"What has you so amused?" Alyona asked light heartedly.
Ginny came down from her giggles in order to answer the question, "I'm just waiting for the day that Malfoy either comes back to our class for some reason or shows up early and catches us sitting by each other. You know he'll throw a bloody fit if he sees us together, right?"
Alyona shrugged, "I'm not too worried about it. I can just say that there were no empty seats left or something. He'll get over it. Just don't cast your bat-bogey hex on him if he gets in your face about it, Let me handle him."
"No promises there." Ginny replied with a laugh.
Alyona turned to see the Slytherin twins sitting a few desks away.
"If anything, I'm surprised those two haven't said anything. Maybe they haven't noticed or just don't care? Either way, I'm not complaining."
Ginny took a glance over Alyona's appearance. Her long and perfectly styled hair, the shiny silk of her fine robes, her high heeled dress shoes, all of which, she presented herself in every single day without falter.
"He really has you under his thumb, doesn't he?" Ginny asked.
"What do you mean?" The blonde witch asked.
Ginny tilted her head, "You never used to look this nice everyday."
Alyona chuckled, "Well, that's a rather…polite way of telling me that I use to look bad."
Instead of gasping at the possibility that she had just insulted her friend, The Weasley girl began giggling, "Come on now, I didn't mean it like that. You just look so much more…expensive now."
"I'll take that as a compliment." Alyona replied with a haughty smile.
"Good, that's what I meant it to be, but seriously, even though you look amazing, I hope the Malfoys aren't forcing it on you," Ginny added.
"Of course they aren't. I like looking this way, and as a Blossom, I should be looking my best at all times," Alyona said proudly.
Ginny looked into her friends eyes, looking for any signs of doubt or dishonesty, "If you say so."
Ginny and Alyona had become close acquaintances during the classes that they shared together. Alyona didn't much feel any desire to associate with anyone Draco listed as the enemy, but Ginny was different. The Weasley girl was funny and easy going, something that Alyona enjoyed.
Draco made it clear that he didn't want his beloved near anyone who wasn't a pure-blood idealist. However, Ginny was going to be in her class anyway, Alyona had no choice but to be around her, and that was the very excuse she had planned for if Draco ever saw them being friendly towards each other.
"Good morning, class." Professor McGonogall greeted them.
"Good Morning, Professor McGonogall." They all said in unison.
"Today we will be starting a new lesson. For the next few class sessions, we will be learning how to turn rabbits into a pair of comfortable slippers. Like so-"
Professor McGonogall pointed her wand at the pair of white rabbits and a spoke the following incantation, "Lepus calceamenta."
Within seconds, the furry creatures was effortlessly transformed into a fuzzy pair of bedroom slippers.
After going through the pronunciation with the class and having them write it down repeatedly on their parchment, it was time for them to give it a try.
"Now, it's time to practice. Picture the pair of slippers in your mind, size and style, but not color. The clearer the picture is in your mind, the less room there is for potential error."
The students went over to the caged rabbits that were near the back of the classroom. They retrieved the furry test subjects and retreated back to their shared desks.
As the students practiced, many predictable mishaps began to occur. Bradley nearly nailed it on his first try, but suddenly, the slippers sprouted back their rabbit legs and began springing into the air.
Bradley chased around the hopping slippers as they sprang around the room from desk to floor to shelf and so on.
Hestia Carrow shrieked as instead of turning the rabbits into slippers, she somehow managed to turn her pair of rabbits completely inside out.
Hestia screamed in horror at the sight of the internal organs displayed outside the rabbits body, to which Flora was cackling like a maniac at her sister's dismay.
Ginny was also laughing up a storm as Alyona had accidentally given her rabbits ears the size of eagle wings.
The rabbits almost began to take flight around the classroom until Ginny cast the spell at them and skillfully turned them into cozy slippers. The blonde witch was relieved, yet embarrassed at her mistake.
"Need help?" Ginny offered.
Alyona reluctantly nodded, "Very much so."
After a couple minutes of helping with the wand movement and pronunciation, Ginny had managed to get her friend to cast the spell successfully. The two girls sat at their shared desk with their sets of perfectly transfigured slippers.
Once Professor Mcgonogall had assisted some of the struggling students and their mal-transformed rabbits, she went over the spell one last time before class was dismissed.
Once the class began heading out, Alyona was thoroughly confused at the lack of a certain platinum blonde boy who was usually waiting just outside of the door .
Alyona's eyes searched for Draco relentlessly, but to no avail. She waited a for a few moments before deciding to carry on to her next class alone.
Navigating the corridors without Draco by her side was such a foreign feeling. Alyona felt somewhat uneasy without her powerful boyfriend by her side.
She loved the way that his presence intimidated most of the other students that crossed their path. She noticed the way students would nearly cower in fear at the sight of Draco, never daring to do anything to upset or anger him.
The immense about of power and status that Draco held as a Malfoy made Alyona feel so safe, so protected, so invincible. To be without him in this moment, made her feel so exposed, so defenseless, so vulnerable.
~ooOOOoo~
"I'll be back with some bandages for you in just a moment, Mister Malfoy." Madam Pomfrey informed as she glided over to her medical supply cabinet.
During today's Care of Magical Creatures class, Draco had become a little too over confident and had approached Hagrid's pet hippogriff without a proper bow.
The creature had stood on its hind legs and scratched Malfoy across his arm, leaving a decent sized scratch behind.
Crabbe, Goyle and Parkinson were all present with Malfoy in the hospital wing while the nurse tended to his injury. They had all arrived after Hagrid's class had ended. Pansy was spewing affectionate words at Draco left and right, while the other two just stood their awkwardly.
"Oh, Drakie. It's going to be okay. That half-breed and that nasty creature will pay for this, I'll make sure of it," Pansy cooed obnoxiously.
"Uh…thanks, but my father will handle this. You don't have to wait here for me," Draco said, clearly fed up with her nonsense.
Pansy ignored his offer and continued to dote on him while he lay in the hospital bed.
Madam Pomfrey swiftly bandaged up Draco's arm and sent him and his friends on their way.
By the time they had left the hospital wing, lunch was about to start. Knowing this, Draco decided to head down with his minions and Pansy to the dining hall.
Alyona was sat at the Slytherin table, looking rather upset. That was, until she saw Draco.
"Draco…What…what happened," she asked frantically.
"That bloody oaf, Hagrid and his giant pigeon did this to me. It happened during class this morning. All I did was walk up to it, just like Potter had done, and the bloody thing attacked me for no reason," Malfoy explained.
"That's aweful!" Alyona exclaimed worriedly.
After a few minutes of hurling affection at Draco, Alyona got up from her seat in order to use the lavatory.
"Hurry back, Darling," Draco said with a smile.
Alyona winked at him as she spun around to head out of the dining hall. As soon as the blonde girl was out of sight, Pansy sprung up from wear she sat and closed in on the wounded boy.
"Does it hurt terribly, Draco?" She asked.
Malfoy wanted nothing but to tell her to shove off, but if his plan of accusing Hagrid of endangering his life was going to work, he needed as many people on his side as possible.
"Uh, it comes and it goes. Still, I consider myself lucky. According to Madam Pomfrey, another minute or two and I could have lost my arm. I couldn't possibly do any homework at that point," he falsely stated.
Pansy went to gently touch his arm when he jerked away, "No need to to touch it, you could further damage it."
Pansy scowled as she had watched Alyona place her hands onto Draco's bandaged arm several times before she had left, without him wincing even the slightest bit.
Pansy knew that he just didn't want her to touch him at all, but still, she couldn't get herself to stop swooning over him.
When Alyona had rounded the corner of the great hall on her way to the girl's bathroom, she noticed a girl sitting alone in the corner of the corridor. It was the girl that she had bumped into while school shopping earlier that year.
The brunette had her nose in a maroon colored book while she took notes on a piece of parchment. Maybe she was studying for an exam? Whatever she was doing, Alyona hoped that she could make it over to the girl before she looked up from her book.
She began to carefully make her way towards the girl, but the tapping noise of her shoes gave her away.
The brunette girl looked up from her book, glared at Alyona and stormed off, to which she expected.
After a quick bathroom break, the Blossom girl strutted back to the dinning hall. She swiftly joined her fellow Slytherins as she took her seat next to Draco.
Alyona turned to face the Gryffindor table. There were many students gathered around one area of the table, including Harry, Ron and Hermione. One of the students also seemed to be holding a news paper.
"What's going on over there?" Alyona asked.
Draco went to speak, until he was interrupted by Theo.
"Sirius Black was spotted in Dufftown!" Theo gasped.
Alyona looked at Draco with a very concerned face, "Isn't Dufftown relatively close to Hogwarts?"
Draco looked at Theo with irritation in his expression, "Damn it, Nott. Learn to keep your bloody mouth shut, will you!?"
Theo stuck up both of his hands in a surrendering manner and chuckled. "Oops, My mistake."
Draco then turned to Alyona, who as hard as she tried, couldn't conceal the subtle look of fear in her eyes.
"Are you okay, Love?" He asked.
Her blue eyes met his grey eyes as she turned her head to look up at him.
"I know you said he's only after Potter, but the thought of a serial killer on the loose in still terrifying, regardless," Alyona expressed.
"You have nothing to worry about, Darling. Even if he was after you, I'd never let him hurt you. You have my word," Draco said as he planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Alyona smiled. She believed him, and knew in her heart that Draco would protect her from any threat that may come her way.
"Want to sleep in my dorm with me tonight?" Draco asked in a whisper.
Alyona was hesitant.
"Won't I get in trouble?"
Draco smirked, "Just come in around eleven, the other's should be sleeping by then."
Alyona smiled and nodded, "I'll see you there."
