Ok, so before you start reading this chapter, clearly putting A/N's after the chapter doesn't work, as there are people who started to complain in the comments. I've stated in tha previous chapter that this wouldn't be updated as frequently as you'd like. As this is clearly a Test Fic.
But since this fanfic of mine is clearly the better one, I've decided that this one will be updated more frequently than "A Crow's Second Flight" Mostly because this has more success to it as the Fandom is clearly larger.
So for the ones that complained, this is now on top of the priority list. I won't say when I'll update, this is just higher up in my priorities list second only to Life. That's all and I hope you people enjoy the chapter. Not the best execution, but I try.
"And you four shall be known as, Team JNPR! Led by, Jaune Arc!" My brain immediately went off.
"Wait, what?!" Professor Ozpin however, merely gave me a welcoming smile and a reassuring hand on my shoudler. "Congratulations, young man."
"Oh my Oum! did this seriously just happen?!" I mentally panicked, yet when I glanced at my teammates. All of them are clapping and smiling at me... Except Nora, she's... Nora. And by that I mean, jumping on Ren immediately.
Pyrrha however, playfully punched me on the shoulder, and I didn't expect that. So she launched me off the pedestal, much to everyone's amusement.
They got off, and Pyrrha apologized and helped me up. Maybe I should try being more aware of my surroundings.
"Hm, not only that. Your overall body shape and muscle mass is not ideal for your age." The voice returned, much more criticism in his words.
"Hey, not my fault I wasn't trained as much as my older siblings!" I heard a scoff, much to my growing annoyance. I wholeheartedly expect my semblance to be cool, like how Pyrrha explained them to me. But instead I got a voice in my head that is snarky, cynical, and sounds like a grumpy old man that didn't get any love in his lifetime.
"And your bark is stronger than your bite. If you fully intend to master your "Semblance", I strongly suggest waking up early in the morning. Make breakfast, excercise for a few hours, and prepare your team for the day. You are a Team Leader now, so don't disappoint your teammates." Jeez, harsh much? But still, you're right. After what happened earlier, I really need to get myself together.
"Good, and since I'm stick with you. I won't let my vessel be anything less." Why does he sounds like he doesn't want to be here?
"Team RWBY, led by. Ruby Rose!" Everyone cheered, and I was nudged by Pyrrha with her elbow, making me join in the applause.
"Where am I?" I looked around, all I can see are rubble and flames. The entire world looked like hell broke loose, and I'm the only one here, yet... I'm not.
I saw a red haired child, slowly walking through the rubble of a former city, tears in his eyes as he ignored the moaning cries of those unfortunate to be alive.
"Dear Oum. What happened here." The scene suddenly changed. A man wearing all black with messy hair, digging something out of the rubble. He continued to dig, until he found something... Rather, someone.
Tears pooled in his eyes, as he pulled the same boy's hand towards his face. Feeling happy that the boy is alive.
I tried to touch them, onky for both the man and boy to turn their heads towards me with a snap.
"WAKE UP!"
"AHH!" I woke up with a cold sweat running down my back. Luckily, no one in my team heard my yelp.
"So it's happening already. Hm, how troublesome. But now's not the time for that, get up and prepare for training." The voice ordered, prompting me to groan in annoyance.
"Why did I get you." I tiredly said.
"Trust me, I'd prefer having a body of my own but it seems Alaya loves to joke around." Body? Alaya? What in Oum's name are you talking about.
"Now get moving, it's five AM and you'll only have a few hours for training, now move it." Five AM! Ugh, I'm starting to regret wanting to become a Huntsman.
"Ugh, why must it be Five AM?" I groaned, forgetting to speak with my inner voice.
"Five AM? Wow Jaune, I didn't think you'd be that diligent." Snickers came from Team RWBY as Yang heard me. Except for Weiss, who looked insulted at Yang's harmless joke.
Thankfully, it was lunch. Professor Port's lessons were... Unbearable to the point where most of the class were asleep! But since I have a voice in my head, I can't even try to regain some sleep!
"That's because he was merely testing your generation. If you only paid most of your attention on the chalkboards, you'd actually see some good pointers." Archer, as he calls himself. Started nagging in my head again. How come I get a sentient Semblance!? Is the Brother Gods mocking me or something?
"Well, I got to stay in shape?" I awkwardly answered, much to her amusement.
"Oh Jaune, you may be fit. But you ain't the "Proper" Fit. Sure you got muscles, but looking at Ren here." She gestured to Ren, who was just torturing himself with Nora's constant and random topics.
"He may not look like it, but he's enjoying it." Archer commented. Huh, is he some sort of masochist?
I heard something fleshy hit another something fleshy.
"You are an idiot." And he's gone.
"Hey, at least I'm trying to improve." I made my point, which Pyrrha immediately joined in the conversation.
"Well, I can help with that." She smiled warmly.
I was about to decline, but Archer said otherwise.
"Say yes, even with proper instructions you cannot follow a basic exercise without tripping... How do you trip while doing push-ups?" I felt my cheeks heat up a bit of that memory.
"Oooh, seems like someone is interested in someone~" Yang pointed out, to which Blake dropped her book down to raise a brow at us. Meanwhile, Weiss and Ruby are arguing about a whistle.
"Wait what?" I only received a knowing smirk. Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about Yang... She just wants to help.
"What do you mean? I mean, she just wants to help, right? Pyrrha?" I turned around to face my teammate, who is sporting a small blush... Is she having a fever?
"A-ah, yes! Of course! I mean. it's an excuse to help each other, isn't it not?" She hastily replied. And I totally agree.
"Oh you poor sod, don't worry Pyrrha! You can handle it!" I felt like she insulted me and cheered for Pyrrha, who is still blushing for Oum knows why.
"Anyway! Yeah, sure Pyrrha. I could use a partner to help me with." Yeah, that should help with improving my fighting style... Which is severely lacking from Archer's own observation. How he does that, is still unknown.
Pyrrha's smile became brighter, almost blinding me.
"Damn Jauney boy. Better train your stamina as well." Yang oh so helpfully added. That's already part of the plan!
"I'm regretting my decision of introducing myself." Archer commented, like how a disappointed parent would sound like.
"But in any case, once your body is ready enough. I'll be making sure you're mentally prepared for everything else, including the dream cycles and my- Our Magecraft." He added immediately. But still, what are these terms he's using? I should ask him about them later.
"By the way, how did you make me summon that bow?" I asked him, making sure to use my inside voice this time.
"I'll explain while we're training, but all you need to know is that, it's a part of you." Ok? not really helping but I guess?
"And pay attention to your friends, something big is about to happen." ok, now that's just cryptic.
Safe to say I should've kept an eye out for what he meant about "Something Big"... Which literally was a huge disaster! I mean, Nora took over to tell a dream she had, while Ren had to occasionally fix some parts here and there. Then I found myself stopping Cardin from harassing a Faunus that is apparently my senior.
"I'm so going to kick your ass in Combat Class, nerd." Cardin, ever so helpfully told me his intentions with a very scary knuckle cracking.
"Hey, you ok?" I asked, still somewhat scared and ready to jump at any moment, just in case Cardin decide to tackle me when I have my back turned.
"Mhm, I'm fine now... You really didn't have to do that, you know. I can handle it myself." She replied, patting herself clean of dust when she accidentally fell on the floor.
"Well, it's not wrong to help people. Though I'm sorry I couldn't do much about your lunch. I'm Jaune by the way." I happily replied, though me saying those words feels natural. Almost as if I've been saying it for my whole life.
"It's fine, I can always get another. Though I wish there could be more people like you. Call me Velvet, second year.", Ah, so that's what she meant by she could handle it herself. But still, I'd rather not just stand there when I know I have the power to do something.
I held out my hand for a shake, only for her eyes to widen a bit, before hesitantly taking my hand to her own. With a good shake, she excused herself to find her teammates, so I returned to my own.
"Well Lover Boy, seems like you had something else going in ya too." Yang immediately teased me, much to my pain.
"Hmpf! How despicable, we're suppose to be Hunters, yet they chose to be a bully." I frowned, Weiss' words are sounding too hypocritical at the moment.
"Hypocrite" Hey, at least Archer agreed with me!
"Then, why didn't you do something about it?" My mouth immediately moved on its own.
Weiss looked offended.
"And what do you mean by that?" If looks could kill, she'd be murdering a corpse.
Everyone's eyes are on me, Blake's seems to be more attentive now, as she has her book down. Clearly waiting for my answer.
"W-Well, as you said it yourself. We are learning to be Hunters, yet he chose to be a bully. Meanwhile, you are here, sitting, watching the scene unfold when you yourself has the power to stop it. Sure, you'll be on his shit-list but that's not the point." Everyone was looking at me in silent shock. Blake looked away in shame, Yang herself tried to not look at me on the eyes, while Ren, Pyrrha, and Ruby all looked at my like I'm some sort of sage.
But Weiss... She's officially offended now, if I haven't done so yet. But she kept quiet, her face stuck between sucking a lemon and an angry frown.
"Tch, great... Now I have to deal with this bullshit." Archer grumbled inside my head.
"Don't listen to him, what you did there was right." I blinked. A new voice rang inside my head, clearly in approval of what I did earlier.
"And now he's talking, great. Why not drop an information bomb that Tiamat is here and is corrupting the world." Archer said, sounding much more displeased.
"Hold up! why is there another voice inside my head!" I slowly started to panic.
"Well, you could say that... I came with Archer, you can call me Emiya." Oh, ok. Hold on!
"Wait! What do you mean you came with him!?"I asked the second, younger voice.
"Ah, how should I explain this. Ah, have you seen those promos in stores? Like a Buy one, get one free?" Weird analogy, but I suppose.
"Yeah?" I hear him sigh in relief. "Good, because that's basically it."
Ok, maybe I should just not think about this until later tonight. Thankfully, classes are about to resume as we heard bells ringing. So after finishing Nora's third plate of pancakes. We all head straight for Combat Class.
