deadpoolisagang: Yes, it can record them, But Tracing them is a completely different matter. I've explained it there that Shirou can't Trace it because he lacks the deep understanding of how they can Mecha-shift. Having to make sure everything goes to where it's supposed to be on a Mecha-shift weapon is like keeping track of marbles that got scattered. God Force is different. It literally just phases between forms as it doesn't have the complicated features of a Mecha-shift weapon.
XXxxxadisxxxXX: Thank you for your input. But with my level of writing, this is the best I could do... For now. I am trying to improve, but that may take a long while.
TheSlySage: Not really, no. Shirou's Reality Marble has no gears. He only gains those gears because of him living the life of a machine. Even in Archer's little flashbacks, he showed how his Reality Marble changed to the one he used against his younger counterpart.
GateMaster31: It's not. As I've written there. Jaune only used Archer's Broken Phantasms as an inspiration for his own Version. Jaune completely understands what makes a Broken Phantasm A Broken Phantasm, and his version lacks that. So basically, he's just using a glorified missile/grenade.
MM Browsing: Part of the reason mostly is me having difficulties in giving each character their chances, as I'm mostly focusing on Jaune. Plus, their teamwork on the Nuckelavee is overall impressive... For me anyway. And Jaune was only able to one shot it thanks to Tracing, and no... Currently he doesn't know his proper Semblance yet, now that he's been told that Archer and Shirou isn't his Semblance.
Dar17kknight: Godzilla had a stroke reading that comment. But for a proper answer. No, not really. More like a lesser "Jump in head first" Shirou version that also lacks the drive to be a Hero that saves everyone. More like a Hero that helps those he could reach that also needs help from others.
For'Sleep 3rd: No, this Nuckelavee is different. As Ren said. It is younger, less stabbed, and less larger than the one shown in the series. Though it already has some experience shown by how it has the patience to stalk Jaune.
FrostyLOL: To answer that, no. This Grimm just avoided the initial purging and has just wandered around, until it spotted Jaune. And Salem could only feel her Grimm from what I've understood, except for a select Grimm called a Seer. Those things are literally floating crystal balls with whips that ends with a sharp spike.
Guest(What): True, but Archer and Shirou are picky when it comes to weapons... And they dislike using guns. Like a certain Jedi. And tracing them is far slower than just tracing swords and just shooting them like how Shirou fought Gilgamesh. It takes time to Trace things, and it's not instantaneous. Add the complicated moving parts of Mecha-shift weapons, you're basically a sitting duck. Oh and DEMIYA is just built different.
Legend:
"Clean your room" Archer Speaking
"Please clean your room" Shirou speaking
"Why me!" Jaune speaking with his thoughts
I woke up to the familiar ceiling of the infirmary. It's overall whiteness made me groan.
"For a first time fully using Magecraft without proper preparation, you've done well... Well enough for your level anyway"
"Good morning to you too Archer" I rolled my eyes, hearing Archer praise and insult me as soon as I wake up, isn't what I wanted at all.
"Ignore him, he got a little bored after you passed out. But in any case. Good morning Jaune, you've been unconscious for three days" I cringed after hearing what Shirou said.
"Was it really that bad?"
"Well yes, but don't be too hard on yourself. It was just the side effect of Tracing, that basically gave you a nasty fever. So try to take it easy for the next few days. Oh and try to prepare yourself for Ruby" Ah right, I did just show off my Semblance to her... Which is probably a bad idea knowing how excitable she is.
"Did anything else happen?" I asked them.
"Your Headmaster became interested with how Magecraft works. He kept visiting from time to time, to see if he could catch you awake" Wait, Headmaster Ozpin?
"We've explained this before already. That Headmaster of yours hides a lot of things, so if you do decide to entertain him. Try to keep as much details from him... Especially us and the nature of our Magecraft" Shirou warned. Not an ounce of mirth in his voice.
"Ok, I get it. But what if he tries to expel me? I did fake my transcripts"
"Like he'd do that. From what we've gathered and decrypted from his cane, He won't let such a strong piece like you go" Ominous, but I'll try to keep that in mind.
The door of the infirmary opened without warning, causing me to sit up from my bed and prepared to Trace a weapon just in case. Only I didn't have to as it was a nurse that opened said door.
We both blinked at each other before she gathered her senses and came forward.
"Glad to see you awake. But lay down, your fever is-" She paused as she touched my forehead.
"Your fever... It's gone! I mean, Aura helps with healing but not as much as wounds!" She said, surprised at my quick recovery.
"Normally having a fever after exhausting all of your Aura can last up to a week, but yours is completely gone" She finally calmed down, catching herself from getting her voice too loud.
"I-" I tried to speak, but my throat is too dry. Which the nurse noticed and quickly got me a glass of water, from a dispenser.
"Thank you" She smiled.
"But still, you need to rest up more. After surviving an experienced Nuckelavee is an extremely strenuous task. Even A listed Hunters have trouble dealing with one." She explained, to which I just nodded along.
"Anyway Mr Arc. I think it's only right to tell your Team you have awakened. But remember, no extensive activities for at least a week. Until then, just take it easy" I thanked her again before leaving the Infirmary.
"And I'm alone again" I said to no one but myself.
"Aw, now you're hurting my feelings" I'd believe him if it wasn't for his lack of sincerity, not only that. The sheer amount of sarcasm in his voice could fill an olympic size swimming pool.
"The day I'd believe those words, is the day pigs could fly"
"Can we please not do this right now? The nurse clearly said you should rest Jaune, but right now. You're doing the opposite, as dealing with Archer is extremely stressful"Ooh! Shirou has some bite!
"I see Rin's sharp tongue has done it's job... Impressive, but clearly an imitation of the original" And there they go again... I need some sleep.
Seriously, I think Beacon should have at least some form of entertainment within the Infirmary. Without my Scroll, I could barely keep active. Well, that was until Shirou suggested to browse through my available weapons.
At first I traced Myrtenaster. One of the more easier ones to Trace, as it's literally just a Rapier but with a revolver chamber for Dust.
"Hm, it's extremely simple for what I've been expecting. But nonetheless impressive. Though injecting Dust straight to the metal will cause some major problems in the future" Archer said, using my vision alongside Structural Analysis to inspect the Rapier.
"I agree, even with those rune-like etching on the blade to allow the Dust to be used. Dust's potency on even the most resistant of metals is a disaster waiting to happen. Considering it's fairly new, and she has done quite an impressive maintenance routine for it, it can last for a long time" Added, though one could tell in his voice that he's rather uncomfortable with the prospect of running dust to the blade.
Next is Storm Flower. Another simple one.
"Hm, a Gunblade..." Shirou sounded a bit unsure on what he should say.
"It's simple. Literally just a gun with blades attached on the front. What else do you want? The blades themselves can act as a hand protector, though the awkward design is something to get used to" Archer finalized.
"Yeah, you have a point there. But seeing Ren wield them is impressive" I said and heard a hum of agreement from Shirou.
However, before I could trace another one. A series of knocks echoed within the room, and the door opened slowly. Giving me time to dismiss both weapons.
What greeted me was ever recognizable red hair of Pyrrha Nikos. However, if one would squint. One could notice the darkened patch of skin, beneath her sunken eyes.
"Jaune! I heard you were awake! Thankfully, Professor Oobleck allowed us to see you" She tried to hide her fatigue with and enthusiastic greeting. But I could tell, she's forcing herself awake. Also, us?
I blinked, and immediately behind her. two more heads popped up from behind, and the comical look of the two on top of each other placed a smile on my face.
Both Ruby and Weiss peeked from Pyrrha's back. But due to Ruby losing her balance, disaster struck and both girls fell over each other.
"Ruby! I told you to get off me! Not get on me!" Weiss yelled at the apologizing Ruby.
"Sorry! But I couldn't help it!" And in typical Ruby fashion. She started making excuses with speeds far surpassing even the fastest Bullhead.
"H-Hey everyone... And it's a surprise to see you cutting class Weiss" The two stopped, blinked once, and faced me.
Both has varying blushes on their faces, with Weiss being the biggest one.
"W-Well, it's not like I was worried or anything! But if something worse happened to my- Our! Personal Chef! I don't think Beacon's Chefs could compensate!" Ah yes, of course she'd be more worried about food than my well-being. But at least she stayed in character.
I smiled wryly at her, then faced a similarly red faced Ruby.
"H-Hey Jaune, there's no need for a reason to visit a friend right? I mean, if something similar happened to me, you'd do the same right?" She said.
"Hm, well. If you do knock yourself out of exhaustion, then yeah. You're my friend too so I'd be doing the same thing for you too" I replied, tone genuinely and I flashed them another smile.
"Of course, if anything happens to Pyrrha too, I'd be sure to check up on her whenever possible" Now it's Pyrrha's turn to blush. Seriously, I'm just being honest here.
"You utter buffoon. Well, I suppose that's an early grave for you" Not right now Archer!
"I'll make sure you will be remembered Jaune" Not you too Shirou!
"Anyway, now that you're awake. You'll need these to catch up" I blinked as Weiss somehow pulled out three notebooks with different subjects, from somewhere.
"I... Oh wow, this is all that I've missed?" I asked and cross armed Weiss.
"Yes, and while you're lucky we haven't received any assignments, it's better for you to take these and start studying. If you somehow fail" She left her words there, and the sudden chills I felt wasn't comforting at all.
"Anyway! Jaune! Semblance!" And there goes Ruby.
"Ruby, I don't think it's a good idea for Jaune to use his Semblance immediately after waking up" Pyrrha, the ever caring teammate tried to tell Ruby, but knowing Ruby. She ignored her.
"It's fine Pyrrha. As long as I don't Trace anything too complicated, it won't drain my Aura as much" I reassured her, but she only sent me a worried look. Which I tried to diffuse with a smile.
"Alright fine, if you say so" She relented, much to Ruby's delight.
"Yay!" Ruby cheered.
"Hm, well I suppose if you insist you are fine. I wouldn't mind seeing your Semblance Jaune" Weiss said, feeling a tad lonely after keeping quiet.
"Alright then" I took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly.
"Trace On" Within my palm, rests a nameless short sword. It's guard made with gold, and fine leather wrapped around it's grip, and with a single ruby at the center of it's pommel, also gold.
It's nothing more than a decor, as the edges are blunt, and the gold itself is bad metal for a sword anyway.
Before he could lift the sword, a pair of pale hands immediately snatched off his hands and started inspecting it with a high pitched squeal of delight.
"Eee! AtfirstIthoughtitwasjustanillusionbutit'ssolid!" I had a hard time comprehending what she said, but thankfully. Archer helped me with understanding her rapid rate of words.
"You idiot! You can't just snatch his weapon like that, without permission!" And of course, Weiss being Weiss. Scolded the still mesmerized Ruby, who promptly ignored her.
While the two were arguing... It's one sided, as Weiss was the only one doing all the arguing. I motioned Pyrrha to sit down on a chair next to my bed.
"You know you didn't have to stay up late for me right?" She flinched, eyes wide as she knew that I know.
"Well, I'm not angry but you need to take care of yourself. Which is something I shouldn't be saying after the stunt I just did" That earned me a soft giggle from her.
"No, it's alright Jaune. But, as you've said earlier. You're my friend" She held my hand on hers as she said those words. Somehow, I get the feeling that she doesn't have many friends. Let alone real ones.
"By the way, I remember you making a copy of Miló... Can I see?" She asked, red tinted her cheeks as she realized what she just said.
"Oh, it's quite alright Pyrrha. I'm actually already fine, so no need to worry too much. But, back to your request" I then moved my hand from hers to my front.
"Trace On" A few moments later, Miló in it's Xiphos form appeared and rested itself on my extended hand.
"Here, think you could tell me if I did good?" She giggled again.
"Who knows Jaune, even if it's a copy. I don't think it would be any better than my actual weapon" She replied playfully.
"Smooth" Archer decided to add in, voice dripping with sarcasm.
I ignored him, before handing Miló to Pyrrha, who began inspecting it.
She shifted the Xiphos to it's Rifle form, and judging by her little frown, the Mecha-shift is rather clunky. She shifted it again, this time to it's Spear form. Her eyes widened a little before a small smile formed on her face.
"I'll say, it's almost as good as the original Jaune. Though shifting between forms feel a little... Rough, like the joints and moving components lacks lubricant" She pointed out everything wrong with my Traced weapon, and yes, she got all of them right. Though why did she smile at the end though?
"I see, though shouldn't that little chip in one of its components be fixed? I mean, it doesn't really bother the Mecha-shift but" I didn't continue, seeing Pyrrha shake her head at the notion of the chip being fixed.
"It's fine Jaune... It's just a little reminder of home" Ah, Sentimental Values... I mean, all I got from it through Structural Analysis is that it came from another weapon.
"It was caused by my own Father's weapon during a spar. He and I had a bit of a competitive streak so to say" Ah, so that's what caused the damage. Well, it's not really detrimental to the system, so I guess it's fine.
"But anyway Jaune, that damage should be difficult to see, as in two forms it's within the weapon" She said, asking me how I found out about it.
"Uh, guys? a little help here?" I asked my tenants within my head.
"Bullshit your way through it, I don't care as long as it's simple enough to work" Wow, real helpful there Archer.
"You should say something about a little sub ability your "Semblance" have. Like needing to see the weapon first before you could copy it?" Hm, that could work.
"Maybe, thanks Shirou!" I heard him hum in approval.
"Well, you do clean Miló more often than not, due to it having three forms. So when you do it everytime within our dorm room, my eyes tend to wander a lot when I'm not doing anything" I half lied. Well, my eyes do wander a bit, but mostly because I was practicing my Structural Analysis on stuff. That and to see if I could Trace them somehow.
I mean, thanks to Structural Analysis, I found out about it. But somehow, all I got from how it got there is that, a different weapon chipped it.
"I suppose you have a point. But anyway Jaune, we should leave before we miss the next class" She said, though I could hear the reluctance in her voice to leave me.
Before I could answer however, I accidentally dismissed the traced sword I gave to Ruby, and she immediately panicked.
"Ah! Jaune! Thesworddisappearedinbluemotesoflightandididn'ddoanythingwrong!" Ah, right. I forgot that Ruby doesn't know I could dismiss them anytime I want... This one is an accident though.
"You dunce! That's how Jaune dismiss his weapons! Don't you think it's inconvenient to carry everything he makes?!" And Weiss just had to yell a point across.
"Sorry Ruby. Kinda accidentally dismissed the blade, my bad" I let out a sheepish chuckled before apologizing to a pouting Ruby.
."But I wasn't finished yet!" She whined.
"Ruby, we need to get back to classes you know. Professor Port may not be the best teacher, but being tardy won't reflect well on us" Pyrrha chastised the pouting girl, much to her annoyance. But Ruby finally relented and sighed deeply.
"Oh fine, but next time. Can you make a copy of Crescent Rose again?! Maybe even Myrtenaster!" And she already forgot about the sword. Oh well, better let her change the subject herself.
"Alright, just don't make me overdo it though" I told her, and all she did was smile before dragging a screaming Weiss out of the infirmary.
Pyrrha and I both blinked at their sudden disappearance, and looked at each other... Only for us to devolve in soft laughter at Ruby's childlike excitement... I mean, she is just a year younger than us, but I suppose everyone has their own unique quirks.
"Well, I see you guys tomorrow" I said to Pyrrha, who nodded back. She then hugged me, and I flinched in surprise. I was unsure at first but returned the hug.
"Get well quicker Jaune, I'm starting to miss our little training sessions" And with that, she left.
"Good job Jaune, you have successfully gained the attention you've been working for, though that would also mean, Shirou and I take some credit" Archer suddenly commented.
"And by that you mean?" I raised a metaphorical brow at him.
"Like I'd tell you" He huffed in amusement before cutting off our connection.
"Uhm, Shirou... A little help?" I asked Shirou
"Sorry Jaune, I don't even understand what he said" I sighed.
"Well, thanks anyway" I told Shirou.
"You're welcome, now rest. And hopefully your Aura quickly heals you" I nodded at that.
But before I could lay down again, I heard yet another knock on the door. And for a few moments, no one entered. Until I saw green.
"Good morning Mr Arc. I suppose it is not a bad time to talk, is it not?" I blinked owlishly at the Headmaster, as Professor Goodwitch closed the door behind them.
"Uhm, good morning to you too as well, Headmaster. Is there something wrong?" Before he answered, he tapped his cane on the floor and I felt something brush by me and spread around me.
"Normally I'd say no, and commend you of your bravery, but. I believe we have some important matters to attend to" His eyes sharpened, and I immediately tensed myself.
Did he finally choose to expel me for faking my transcripts?!
"So tell me, Mr Arc. How did you learn Magic?"
End.
