This is one of my personal favorite chapters so far, and I hope you enjoy it.
Luigi was fast asleep in his bed when he had heard knocking on his door which woke him up.
"Hello? This is housekeeping!" Luigi looked at the clock that sat on a side table next to his bed and froze. 11:30 AM?! How had Luigi slept so late?
"Sorry housekeeping!" Luigi shouted at the door while taking off his clothes for a shower. "Please do not come in, I'm getting ready!"
The housekeeper had left and by now Luigi was in the shower. When he was done, he had to figure out what to wear.
Luigi had lay down three pairs of exactly identical overalls and green shirts. Luigi then began to inspect each one carefully.
"Too small," Luigi hung up the first pair of clothes. "Too faded," Luigi hung up the second pair of clothes. Then he took a look at the third pair of his clothes.
"Perfect!"
Just as Luigi finished putting on his final glove, Polterpup had woken up from his sleep. Suddenly, he jumped up with excitement and ran enthusiastically to Luigi.
"Woah Polterpup!" Luigi exclaimed. "Why are you so excited?" Luigi had began to think of reasons why his dog was so happy and energetic. Could it be that Polterpup was hungry? No he would circle Luigi if so. Did Polterpup want to play? No Polterpup never plays in the morning, he goes on walks with Luigi at morning, so the op-
Wait. That's it! Polterpup just wanted to go on his morning walk with his master that's all it!
Guilt filled Luigi as he realized that he had made a promise to E. Gadd to have lunch with him. That meant no walks for Polterpup.
"I'm sorry Polterpup, but I-" the ringing of the room's telephone interrupted Luigi's apology to Polterpup.
"Hold on one moment Polterpup," Luigi nervously chuckled and Polterpup sat unaware of bad news of any type.
"Hello?" Luigi answered the phone. "Chambrea! What's going on?"
"Well, I just wanted to remind you about the events that happen soon. The first event is the game tournament in the Mezzanine."
"Hey Chambrea," Luigi began to whisper. "Is there someone unavailable today? I can't take Polterpup on his daily walk, and I don't want to disappoint him."
Chambrea knew that Luigi was supposed to meet E. Gadd, so she was completely understanding. "Okay, I'll try to find someone to walk Polterpup, and you can have lunch with the professor."
A relieved Luigi now could have his lunch and Polterpup could go on a walk. "Oh thank you Chambrea! Is there any way I can thank you?"
"No, I just want you to have a good time while you're here, that's all," Chambrea happily replied. "I'll get someone for Polterpup, you do your own thing, so have a good day Luigi!"
"Thank you, bye!" Luigi hung up the phone and turned around to Polterpup. The dog looked a little confused about the call and looked eager to have Luigi finish his sentence from before.
"So Polterpup," Luigi resumed. "I'm sorry that I can't take you on a walk, someone else is. I hope you can forgive me."
Polterpup understood his master knowing that whatever Luigi had on his mind it was pretty important. Polterpup did wonder who is walker was going to be though.
Chambrea rushed down the stairs to the area where all the other boss ghosts were. She knew that a few of them were free, and they could help with the dog walking situation. Chambrea just had to do whatever it takes to show Luigi a grand time.
"Guys!" Everyone turned their heads to Chambrea who had just busted into the room. "Who's free today?"
The ghosts that raised their hands were Amadeus Wolfgiest, King Macfrights, Dr. Potter, Ug, Clem, Serpci, and Gloria.
"Great! Can one of you take Polterpup on a walk?" The ghosts looked around with confusion at Chambrea's question. A walk with Polterpup? But the favor was very sudden, and everyone would have to decide who would go.
"Okay," Chambrea looked at her options of the available staff members. "Ug is out because he's not gentle, Wolfgiest doesn't have patience, same with Macfrights, I don't know about Potter, maybe Morty? Clem is a no, Serpci is a good option, and same with Gloria."
The ghosts didn't know who to decide, and they didn't really know Polterpup. Does he like slow walks? Fast walks? Nobody knew, so it just made it harder to decide.
"Well, y'all should choose me, I've got experience with animals." Macfrights closed his eyes waiting for the agreeing replies.
"No."
"I personally think Serpci should do it, she's the one with some friendship with that dog," Morty looked at the pharaoh.
"Really?" Serpci felt surprised that she was nominated. "Okay! I'm sure it will be such a nice, relaxing experience. I'm happy to help with dog duties."
"She said dog dooties!" Lindsey whispered to her sisters and they all silently giggled their magical asses off.
"I'll go tell Luigi that you are walking with Polterpup, and get ready, I heard it's going to be hot today!"
Luigi was completely ready for his day of events and fun! First he was going to the Mezzanine for the game tournament, then the Garden Suites to see some really rare flowers, and then The Spectral Catch to go on a pirate ship ride. Maybe Luigi would stop by the Hotel Shops to get souvenirs, but that was a maybe kind of option.
Someone began to knock on the door, and had Luigi answer it. As expected, Chambrea was the one at the door and she brought news.
"Luigi! We found the perfect ghost to walk Polterpup, and she's waiting in the Grand Lobby for you and Polterpup."
"Great!" Luigi smiled in response knowing that Polterpup would get his daily walk after all. "Who is this she?"
"As they have a good friendship, the staff chose Serpci as Polterpup's walker." Chambrea answered.
Luigi now knew that there was a special bond between Polterpup and Serpci, and nothing could go wrong. The dog only got negative when something bad happened, and now Luigi realized that this vacation couldn't have anything bad happen. After all, the staff had spent about a week getting the hotel ready, so nothing should be bad right.
Right?
"Almost done!" King Boo cackled as he saw his gem glowing a little bit with power. "When the power is full, I-I mean we will escape!" King Boo looked at his fellow prisoner while she poked at her ghostly nails.
"So, when do you predict the gem will be completely power full?" Hellen asked with extreme interest. Escape and escape only, was on the two ghosts's minds.
"I bet that it shall be complete in an hour! Not too long," King Boo evilly grinned at Hellen. "I know in my empty heart, we can escape soon..."
E. Gadd had walked into the lab and just in time for the ghosts to look like they were having a normal conversation. Something about lamb chops.
King Boo couldn't help but imagining the professor being trapped into a painting again! What a joyous thought, so good that the Boo began to wander away from reality and into his daydream.
The ghosts that were in the Grand Lobby couldn't help but snicker when they saw Serpci, pharaoh of desserts, in a ridiculous 80's exercise clothing set. Sport headband, sport wristbands, and even leg bands. How did such a sophisticated pharaoh end up looking like a joke?
"Hello everyone." Serpci noticed many ghosts looking at her. "Is everything okay?"
Absolutely everyone just stared with surprise. What made Serpci have such an idea, and where did she get it?
"It's the outfit isn't it?" Realization hit Serpci when she had heard the giggles. "Go ahead, laugh your heads off," Serpci said not expecting that her coworkers would.
Unsurprisingly, almost all of the ghosts started to brake out into laughter, so bad that they all started to cry. Serpci felt a tiny bit awkward as everyone around her was gasping for air as they needed more for the rest of the laughing session.
"I'm so sorry Miss Serpci," Nikki wheezed, "but you were the one to tell us to laugh!" Not even her sisters could argue with that.
Finally, finally, finally!(For Serpci) Luigi was comedown the stairs with Polterpup and an excited smile on his face.
"Serpci, I have Polterpup for you! He likes a forty five minute walk and then come back here." Luigi handed Polterpup's leash to the pharaoh. He did notice the exercise getup, but only chuckled once by accident and tried to cover it up by coughing right after.
"Oh wait!" Luigi shouted at Serpci. "Be careful, Polterpup can get excited easily, and trust me, it's never a good thing!" Serpci nodded in response at Luigi so he could know she had heard him.
Feeling confident, Serpci left the hotel with her beloved friend Moon for a wonderful walk around the hiking trail near the hotel. Nature would most definitely clear the troubles in Serpci's mind. Yeah, nature would work.
"So!" Luigi went into the Mezzanine and found E. Gadd sitting at one of the tables. Knowing that the professor would probably want any form of conversation, Luigi started talking to E. Gadd excitedly.
"Oh E. Gadd, I'm sure that you know this, but I really appreciate being the one this hotel wants to save it! I feel accomplished in every possible way." Luigi beamed with pride. Such a role is an accomplishment, and Luigi would knew he'd be an amazing guest for the Last Resort.
"Oh boy!" E. Gadd exclaimed. "I'm glad that you're happy and, I feel accomplished that this hotel is being hosts to you Luigi! Tha-"
The watch on the professor's wrist began to beep loudly, and everyone in the restaurant stared at the duo.
"Uh, Luigi listen," E. Gadd nervous chuckled. "I have to go, this is important matters that involve some care, we can meet up together another time, I'm sorry!" The professor got up from his chair and rushed out of the room as fast as he could.
"Oh well," Luigi softly kicked a napkin that was on the ground. "I'm going to be here for a week, there will be time later,"
Luigi knew that Serpci would be gone by now with Polterpup, so going to the pharaoh wasn't an option, it was rude. Since an event was going to start in the Mezzanine soon, Luigi decided that he would go to the game tournament. He wondered what game would be, so he took out the little event pamphlet.
You battle the hotel's billiard champion in hopes of becoming the champion itself, Luigi read. You know, he thought, that sounds pretty fun, I'll go!
Luigi got out of the restaurant part of the Mezzanine and went to the game room of it and there were many ghosts sitting on chairs waiting for the games to start.
It battling a champion did seem like fun, and it would be worth one's time. Yeah, it was going to be worth it.
Huh, Serpci thought as she floated down the path of a hiking trail, Moon doesn't look very excited, I wonder if Luigi exaggerated a little bit.
Surprisingly enough, so far the walk was going nicely. No bugs, no noise, and no drama. Serpci thought that she should come here more often!
Suddenly, a squirrel popped out of a bush and made Polterpup excited. He wagged his tail, jumped up and down, he even began to run in tiny circles.
"Moon, Luigi said you were a beast when excited on a walk, I'm glad you are able to control yourself just for me!"
The squirrel had decided to make a run for it, and Polterpup being, well Polterpup, he chased after the woodland creature, dragging Serpci with him.
"Nooo!" Serpci screamed as she tried to stop Polterpup. "Moon! Slow down!!!" The squirrel took a sharp right into the woods, which brought Polterpup and Serpci with it.
Now off the trail, Serpci began to panic as she was being dragged by an unstoppable dog with a goal to catch the squirrel.
Polterpup tugged and tugged at the leash trying to escape. Of course, he couldn't escape due to how strong Serpci was at the moment. The reason she was strong? If she lost Moon, Luigi might give the hotel a bad review if they lost his dog, and no one wanted anything like that to happen.
An idea had hit Serpci and she wanted to do what it took to get back to the hotel with both herself and Moon.
Serpci set a trail of sand on the ground that hee sand sources told her that it lead to the Last Resort. Hoping that the squirrel would follow the path, Moon would chase after it through the woods. Yes, through the woods.
Oh no, Serpci braced herself for the pain knowing that any second she would crash into trees, bushes, rocks and hills. And she was right.
The squirrel liked the sand trail and got Polterpup to follow him. Only Serpci crashed into the woodland objects. A price to pay in order to get back to the Last Resort with the dog, a price almost not worth paying.
Back at the lab, King Boo's gem was shining brightly, and the two ghost prisoners knew the moment they have dreamed of for many months was coming right here, right now!
"It's time Hellen!" King Boo cackled. "Let's get out!"
"Wait!" I think that professor is coming, get me out first just to make sure, and I'll let you out dear!" Hellen shook with excitement. She and King Boo were escaping!
"Okay Hellen," King Boo used the gem's magic to get Hellen out of her cell and out into the world.
"Is he coming?" King Boo called out to Hellen. She picked up the gem and start to smash it?!?
"Wait! What are you doing?!?" King Boo screamed at Hellen. She only kept smashing the gem until it turned clear instead of purple just moments ago.
"You called me useless! I am going to be the one escaping, you are going to rot here!" Hellen saw a bin full of clothes that would work as a disguise.
"You are getting me out of here Hellen!" King Boo yelled, but it was no use. Hellen had left the lab with a jacket and shirt that covered her dress. Hellen had left.
Serpci finally returned to the hotel after a few hours covered in bark, dirt and mud. Polterpup seemed fine, but Serpci wasn't. Everyone watched as the pharaoh flopped onto a chair with exhaustion, knowing that there would be more stares from the morning. That didn't matter, both Serpci and Polterpup were back home.
"So..." Chambrea looked at Serpci. "How was your walk?"
"Luigi wasn't lying about Moon being excited, he lost his dog mind. I just hope that Luigi is happy about this walk." Serpci tiredly sighed. "I'm going to wash up,"
She left the Grand Lobby leaving Polterpup and Chambrea together. They both just stared at at each other silently. No bark, no talk, nothing.
Nothing at all.
By now, Luigi had been to all of the events that were available that day, the billiard champion was actually Nikki, she showed no mercy to those who challenged her, the visit to the Garden Suites was relaxing, especially when Luigi passed by the rose garden, and the pirate ship ride was awesome! The ocean smells in the Spectral Catch were pretty realistic, and the ocean sounds were soothing to Luigi.
It seemed like a good day to everyone in the hotel. Everyone. Even Hellen Gravely, she escaped her prison, and was now ready to get revenge.
See, when E. Gadd was captured years ago, Hellen and King Boo put everyone under a trance. They kept the trance when the mission was completed, but now the ghosts are serving Luigi?!?
He was the main enemy of the Last Resort, and everyone is treating him like a king?!? Something like that is somewhat something worth getting revenge for.
It's true Hellen knew what she was going to do, her plans glued to her brain, and she would have the power that she used to have once again.
Escaped. Hellen Gravely has just escaped. And she would stop at nothing to have power again.
Absolutely nothing.
Next time, Hellen causes trouble, people get hurt, Luigi knows nothing about Hellen and her escape, someone finds out the escape.
See you next time on, Luigi's Last Resort Stay!
