Tails wasn't felling like himself lately. Now a days, he spends most of his time in the workshop building new things to get his mind on something else. There are still some people who don't know about Tails' problem; his family. Of couse, they knew something was off about him.
He's normally his usual self around them because he knew it would hurt them to see him hurt. Since his parents aren't usually home, it was just him, his 2 year younger sister Aphia and his older brother Merrick. Evryone was getting worried about Tails. every single time he looked like he hadn't gotten much rest.
One day however, he was in the garage trying to fix Rose Mary's car when Merrick walked in.
Merrick: Hey, little bro. What's going on?
Tails: Huh? Oh hey, Merrick. I didn't see you there.
Merrick: Everything ok? You've been working in here all day for weeks.
Tails: Not all day. I come inside for dinner or when Mom and Dad come home. And yes, I'm fine.
Merrick: Well, is there something bothering you? You know you can tell me.
Tails: Merrick, again, I'm fine. [sniff] Never been better.
Merrick: Bro, I understand if you have something on your mind but just tell me what it is. Are you sick?
Tails: I don't wanna talk about it right now, Merrick. Or anytime for that matter.
Merrick: But, Tails, I just...
Tails: [annoyed] Merrick, I don't wanna talk about it! [sighs] Just please leave me alone.
Merrick: Bro, I can't just leave you alone.
Tails: Please just go away!
Merrick: Well, Ok. But just as a warning. It's gonna thunder storm soon. Just saying so 'cause I know you're scared of lightning.
And with that, he left. Later that evening, when Tails' parents came home, Rose Mary looked around for Tails but couldn't seem to find him.
Rose Mary: Hey, Merrick, where's Tails?
Merrick: Still in the garage, I think.
Rose walked into the garage but couldn't see Tails anywhere. When she flipped on the lights, she saw him in the corner of the garage curled up like a scared little kitty.
Rose Mary: Tails?
When Tails lifted his head up, Rose could tell he was frightned by the storm. She gently placed a hand on his head.
Rose Mary: What happened, hunny?
But before Tails could start talking, light struck outside. He let out a scream and jumped into his mother's arms shaking fear.
Tails: Th-The lightning scared me!
Rose Mary: Don't be scared, Tails. The lightning can't hurt you.
That's when she noticed Tails' eyes were all red from lack of sleep.
Rose Mary: You look absolutely exhausted, sweetheart. Let's get you in bed so you can get some rest.
Rose put Tails to bed and told him not to move until the morning. He immediately drifted of to sleep. He was so exhausted that he slept through the storm. The next morning he didn't even wake up until a few minutes after his alarm went off. Just then, Rose walked into the room with a cup of tea.
Rose Mary: How are you feeling, Sweetheart?
Tails: A little dizzy.
Rose Mary: Here. Maybe some tea will help you. Don't worry, It's not too hot. Promise
Tails didn't feel like drinking tea but he drank it anyway. And with that, he went back to sleep.
Rose Mary: Oh. Guess the tea made you even more sleepy. I better get going though. I have a lot of Government meetings today.
Tails then mumbled something in his sleep.
Tails: Mom...Don't l-leave yet.
Rose Mary: Shhh...Get some sleep, Hunny. I'll be back a little earlier than normal to day.
Rose gave Tails a kiss on his forehead and left. A few hours later, around 3:30, Rose Mary arrived home. Where Aphia was waiting for her looking worried.
Rose Mary: Hey, Aph. Why do you look so worried?
Aphia: Mommy. It's Tails. He's in the bathroom.
Even though she just got home, Rose Instantly knew something wasn't right. She ran to the bathroom and found Tails sitting over the toilet seat crying.
Rose Mary: Hunny, Are you ok? I heard crying.
Tails: I *sob* I feel sick.
Rose Mary: [Worried] Not Vomiting again I hope.
Tails: No...
Before he could say anything else, he fainted. Rose looked shocked and Immediately called a doctor. She also called Amadeus and told him to come home ASAP. When Amadeus came home, Rose told him everything.
Amadeus: I should've known. He was exhausted. And we did nothing to stop him.
Rose Mary: Amadeus, I know we should've paid more attention to the signs but didn't you hear what's going on with our son? I'm too worried about him to think about anything else.
Amadeus: Well, did the doctor come yet at least?
Rose Mary: No. He said to just let Tails rest and not leave from his bed. If there were any problems we should call back.
Later that evening, Rose Mary went upstairs to check on Tails, but she couldn't find him in his room. That's when she saw his window was open. Tails must've flown outside.
