After a while walking through the Everfree Forest, the group arrived at the town of Ponyville.
Needless to say, the Fairy Tail mages were surprised that a group of ponies, unicorns and pegasus lived in a town similar to humans. They even had bakeries and clothing stores.
"Wow. Who knew you lived like humans." said Natsu.
"Well of course we do. We're not savages." said Rainbow Dash.
"Still it's amazing everything here. In fact, this place feels very nice." said Lucy.
"So is Ponyville to you." said Applejack.
"By the way, I've noticed something. Almost everyone I've seen in town has a mark on their flank. Are tattoos all the rage here?" said Gray.
"Oh, they're not tattoos. They're cutie marks." said Rarity.
"Cutie marks?" asked Erza.
"You see. In Equestria, ponies have a special and unique talent. When they discover it, it comes in the form of a cutie mark." said Twilight.
"And because of that, you can know what you're going to devote your life to." said Fluttershy.
"Isn't that a bit complicated? I mean, what if you like something, but your cutie mark points to something else?" asked Wendy.
"Just because your cutie mark points to one thing, doesn't mean you have to like only that. You can still do other things." said Twilight.
"Yes, for example, my cutie mark points out that I like parties and I do that, but I also like making cupcakes, swimming, playing ball, going on adventures, making people smile, cheering, hanging out with my friends, babysitting the twins..." began Pinkie Pie.
"All right, all right. We get it." said Charle.
"By the way, Spike. how come you're the only dragon in town? Are there no other dragons?" asked Natsu feeling curious about the dragon.
"Oh, no. There are many more dragons living in the Dragon Lands, but I like it here with my friends." said Spike.
"The truth is, I met Spike when he was just an egg and since I was the one who helped him hatch, I took care of him." said Twilight.
"Heh. You know? I went through the same thing myself. I found Happy when he was an egg and took care of him until he hatched." said Natsu.
"Aye, sir. And we've been inseparable ever since." said Happy.
"It happened to me with Charle too." said Wendy.
"Yes, I've been with Wendy since I hatched from the egg. Literally." said Charle.
"Aw, that's so cute that." said Fluttershy.
"I can tell you two love each other very much." said Applejack.
"Of course. We may be different, but we all treat each other like family." said Lucy.
"A bit of a strange family." said Rainbow Dash.
"That I won't deny." said Lucy.
"Well, here we are." said Twilight as the group stopped near where they were going to talk.
Team Natsu's mouth dropped open as in front of them stood Twilight's friendship castle.
"Wow. It's beautiful." said Wendy.
"I've never seen a castle like this." said Erza.
"If that looked impressive to you, wait until you see the inside." said Pinkie Pie.
Just as she said, when they went inside, they were even more impressed, for the interior was luxurious even though it appeared to have been made from the root of a tree.
Team Natsu went with Mane 6 to a room where there was a table with seven chairs around it, although Twilight asked Spike to bring more chairs for their guests.
Once they had enough chairs for everyone, they sat down so they could start talking.
"Well then, where do we start?" asked Applejack.
"Why don't you tell us a little about your world?" asked Erza wanting to know as much as possible about that world.
"Sounds good to me. Well, for starters, you are in the kingdom of Equestria which is run by the princesses Celestia and Luna." said Twilight starting with the explanation.
"I thought you were the one ruling this place, since you have the title of princess." said Gray.
"You see, there are currently five princesses in Equestria. Celestina, the princess of the sun; her sister, Luna, the princess of the moon; Candance, Twilight's sister-in-law and princess of love; her daughter, Flurry Heart; and Twilight, the princess of friendship." said Rarity.
"Pff. Princess of friendship? Sounds ridiculous." said Natsu before getting a smack on the head from Lucy.
"Don't be disrespectful." said Lucy.
"You shouldn't underestimate friendship. It's helped us fight off some threats." said Applejack.
"That's true. In fact, we are the bearers of the elements of harmony." said Rainbow Dash proudly.
"Elements of harmony?" asked Wendy.
"They are the most powerful magical objects in the world that represent aspects of harmony. Rarity represents generosity; Fluttershy, kindness; Pinkie Pie, grace; Applejack, sincerity; Rainbow Dash, loyalty; and I represent the most powerful element, magic." said Twilight.
"Does that mean there's magic in this world too?" asked Charle.
"Wait, there's magic in your world?" asked Fluttershy.
"I guess it's our turn to explain our world. You see, in our world there is something called ethernano. People who are able to absorb them and use them to cast magic are considered mages. Because of the amount of mages that exist, mage guilds were formed." said Erza explaining the mechanics of that world as best she could.
"Mage guilds?" asked Rarity.
"A guild is a place where you receive quests that members of that guild perform. The quests usually range from searching for people, taking down bandits and/or monsters, etc." said Gray.
"Wow, those guilds sound awesome." said Rainbow Dash.
"They are. Especially ours." said Natsu.
"What's your guild?" asked Rarity.
"All of us are from the Fairy Tail guild." said Lucy as she and the others showed off the guild symbol tattooed on their bodies.
"Do fairies have tails?" asked Applejack.
"Our master explained to us that since fairies are mysterious, no one knows if they have tails or not. The name symbolizes that we are constantly searching for mystery and adventure. That's what being a Fairy Tail mage is all about." said Wendy.
Mane 6 couldn't help but smile as they saw that this guild was much more than just a place to work, it was a place where all of its members lived the same way they did in Ponyville.
"It certainly looks like a great guild." said Twilight.
"You can be sure of them. All of us are more than guild mates, we're family." said Erza.
"By the way, what kind of magic do you have?" asked Pinkie Pie wishing one of them had cupcake related magic.
"Well, I'm what's known as a celestial mage." said Lucy.
"Celestial mage?" asked Fluttershy.
"It's a magic that allows me to summon spirits." replied Lucy.
"You can summon spirits?" asked Twilight.
"I'll show you." began Lucy pulling out a silver key. "Open Gate of the Canis Minor! Nikola!" shouted Lucy as she flashed a small snowman that kept shaking.
"Puu." said the snowman.
"IIII." voiced Pinkie Pie before grabbing the snowman and hugging him. "He's so adorable!"
"His name is Plue. Like the others, I can summon him with the help of these celestial keys. There are two types, the silver ones, which summons spirits for simple tasks and the golden ones which summons the zodiac spirits, the most powerful ones, which help me fight." said Lucy.
"Oh, I can't wait to meet them all." said Fluttershy excited to meet the spirits of the celestial mage.
"Now it's my turn. I am an ice mage." said Gray before creating an ice knife in his hand. "My magic, ice-make, allows me to create anything."
"Really? You can also make an ice balloon, an ice cake, an ice greeting card, ice cupcakes...?" asked Pinkie Pie speaking quickly until Rarity covered her mouth to stop her.
"And it doesn't melt?" asked Rarity.
"My ice isn't like normal ice. It won't melt easily." said Gray.
"Okay, just one more question. Why did you get naked?!" asked Rarity pointing at him.
Looking down, Gray realized he was alone in his boxers.
"What? Damn it!" exclaimed Gray in frustration as he picked up his clothes.
"Forgive him for that. Because of his training, he ended up getting into the habit of undressing even without realizing it." said Erza.
"How could he possibly not notice something like that?" asked Rarity.
"Anyway, my magic is re-equip. It allows me to change my armor and summon various weapons." said Erza.
"Wow. That makes you a formidable warrior." said Rainbow Dash impressed by the redhead's magic.
"Thank you." said Erza.
"So what about you two?" asked Applejack to the two dragon slayers.
"Oh, we possess dragon slayer magic." said Natsu.
"Dragon slayer?" asked Twilight.
"It is a magic that gives the user the power to kill dragons." said Charle.
That made the Mane 6's mouth drop open, as it was the first time they had heard of a magic that could kill dragons, powerful creatures.
Spike began to tremble with fear at hearing that.
"K-K-Kill dragons?" asked Spike fearfully before hugging Twilight.
"I've read and heard of different types of magics, but I've never heard of anything like that… dragon slayer magic. Who taught you that magic?" asked Twilight.
"In my case, it was my father, Igneel." said Natsu.
"And in mine, my mother, Grandeeney." said Wendy.
"Is it that they were dragon slayers too?" asked Rarity.
"No, our parents were real dragons." said Wendy, leaving the listeners with their mouths hanging open.
"What?! Your parents, who were dragons, taught you a magic that can kill dragons?!" asked Rainbow Dash.
"Why would they do something like that?" asked Fluttershy.
"It's a bit long to explain." said Natsu not wanting to tell them about a certain black dragon.
"But if your parents were dragons, why did you react that way when you saw Spike?" asked Twilight.
"It's because Earthland hasn't seen dragons for 400 years." said Erza, to the surprise of the listeners.
Twilight had many doubts on that subject, but it was then that she noticed the sad expression of the two dragon slayers and it didn't take her a second to know that this was a very personal matter for them, so it would be best to leave it for another time.
"So how exactly does dragon slayer magic work?" asked Twilight wanting to change the subject.
"Well, I am the fire dragon slayer." began Natsu before wrapping his fist in fire. "Not only can I spit fire, but I also have the ability to devour fire." said Natsu.
"Devour fire? What do you mean?" asked Spike.
"You're a dragon, aren't you? Shoot me fire and you'll see." said Natsu pointing at his open mouth.
Spike was confused by the dragon slayer's request for fire, but shrugged it off before ejecting a large green flare upward diagonally.
Soon after, to the Mane 6's surprise, the fire began to contort before going straight into Natsu's mouth who was sucking it in as if it were air. By the time he ate every last flame, he let out a small burp.
"Heh. Not bad, Spike. That's a good fire." said Natsu.
Needless to say, that left Mane 6 with his eyes and mouth wide open.
"HAHAHA. Oh man! That was awesome!" exclaimed Rainbow Dash.
"Why was that a good fire?" asked Applejack.
"Because, to me, fire is like food. Depending on the type of fire, it can come in different flavors." said Natsu.
"Uh, uh. So, what would a black fire or a blue fire or a fire that was used to cook cupcakes taste like at a temperature of...?" asked Pinkie Pie before Applejack covered her mouth.
"What about you, Wendy, dear? What kind of dragon slayer magic do you have?" asked Rarity.
"I am the sky dragon slayer. Unlike Natsu, my element is air." said Wendy.
"I admit, you all have some very peculiar magic that I've never seen before." said Twilight.
"If you think that was peculiar, you should see our friends' magic." said Happy.
"There's one thing I'm curious about. How did you get to our world to begin with?" asked Spike.
"We were on a mission that involved tracking down some suspicious guys hanging around a town." said Gray.
"When we came across them, they were in front of a wall with symbols engraved on it. We fought them, but in the middle of the battle, the symbols were activated and the next thing that happened was that we arrived in this world." said Charle continuing the explanation.
"Now that you mention it, I remember seeing more objects falling from the sky." said Twilight.
"It's probably the guys we fought." said Wendy.
"Great. Then let's go get them and beat the crap out of them." said Natsu slamming his fist into his palm.
"I'm starting to like this guy." muttered Rainbow Dash with a smile.
"I don't think that's a good idea. From what I saw, the other objects fell a long way from where you fell." said Twilight.
"And considering how much time has passed, who knows where they might be now." said Lucy.
"A-A question. H-How are those guys?" asked Fluttershy nervously.
"We don't know. They were hooded. All we know is that they were very strong, so the inhabitants of this world should be careful if they meet someone suspicious." said Erza.
"In that case, I should alert Celestia and Luna. They'll be in charge of watching the surroundings for any clues about those guys." said Twilight.
"I'd appreciate it." said Erza with a nod of thanks.
"Jo. I wanted to go after them." said Natsu disappointed.
"We'll have to wait until we get something." said Gray.
"So what do we do until then?" asked Wendy.
"Why don't you stay here?" asked Twilight to the surprise of the Earthland mages.
"Are you sure? We don't want to be a bother." said Lucy.
"It's no bother at all. I have plenty of rooms available in this palace, so you can rest here until you find what you are looking for. How about it?" asked Twilight.
Team Natsu was slightly surprised, since, even though they had known each other for a while, she was going to welcome them into her palace as if they were long-time acquaintances.
"Well, I guess we can't turn down an invitation like that." said Erza with a smile.
"Wait a minute!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie very seriously before sticking her face to Natsu's, much to his surprise. "They have to go to Sugar Cube Corner in 10 minutes EXACTLY."
"W-Why should we go there?" asked Natsu nervously at how close the party pony was.
"Just do it!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie.
"Okay, okay, okay! We'll go, we'll go!" declared Natsu so nervously that he felt like he was standing in front of Erza.
"Okay." said Pinkie Pie separating from Natsu and smiling as always. "See you there." said Pinkie Pie before skipping off like tiggers.
"What was that for?" asked Gray confused at the pink pony's mannerisms.
"Oh, leave it at that. It's just Pinkie being Pinkie." said Twilight.
However, both she and her friends knew that the reason Pinkie Pie was acting that way was because...
"Shh. Narrator, no spoilers." said Pinkie Pie appearing from the side of the screen.
I wasn't going to say anything that would give it away.
"Oh, okay then." said Pinkie Pie with a smile before exiting the screen.
As I was saying, the reason Pinkie Pie was like this was for a very special reason.
Team Natsu was a little confused by it, but they decided to let it go and find out for when the time came.
Ten minutes passed and Team Natsu was being led by Twilight and Spike to the place Pinkie Pie said they needed to go.
The Earthland mages were still confused by the party pony's intentions.
"Are you sure you can't tell us what's going on?" asked Lucy.
"We can't tell because we don't know." said Twilight.
"And even if we did know we wouldn't tell you." said Spike.
"Why not? I don't understand anything." said Natsu.
"It's the same with me." said Happy.
"Hihi. Sorry, it'll all be sorted out soon when we get there." said Twilight.
"And how long until we get there?" asked Gray.
"We've already arrived." said Spike when everyone stopped.
Team Natsu turned their gaze ahead to find that the place they were going to happened to be some sort of pastry shop.
"This is Sugar Cube Corner?" asked Wendy.
"I must have suspected something as soon as I heard the name." said Charle.
"So, this is the place?" asked Erza.
"Yes. You go in first." said Twilight.
Team Natsu, still confused, heeded the alicorn's request and entered the premises, only to find it pitch black.
"Can't see a thing." said Lucy.
"Wait. I detect a smell." said Natsu sniffing the air with his enhanced sense.
"What kind of smell?" asked Gray.
"It's like..." started Wendy also using her dragon sense of smell. "Sugar?"
"YOU GUESSED IT RIGHT!"
The next instant, the lights in the shop came on, allowing the team to see the shop filled with practically everyone in town, as well as various sweets scattered about and a banner hung up that read 'WELCOME, EARTHLAND MAGES'.
"W-what is all this?" asked Lucy.
"What's it going to be?" asked Pinkie Pie suddenly appearing behind her and drawing the celestial mage and the fire dragon slayer into an embrace. "Your welcome party, of course." said Pinkie Pie.
"Welcome party?" asked Gray.
"Yeah, Pinkie Pie usually does that with anyone visiting Ponyville for the first time." said Twilight.
"A little too much, don't you think?" asked Charle.
"When it comes to Pinkie Pie's parties, nothing is too much." said Applejack.
"So, did you know?" asked Erza.
"Well, we know how Pinkie Pie acts. Plus she did the same thing when the two of us came along a while back." said Spike confirming it.
"Mostly, we didn't want to ruin the surprise." said Rainbow Dash.
"Makes sense." said Happy crossing his arms.
"You didn't need to do all this for us." said Wendy.
"Oh, don't worry, dear." said Rarity.
"Pinkie Pie does that with anyone she considers her friend even if she's only known them for a second." said Fluttershy.
"So don't be so negative and enjoy the party." said Rainbow Dash.
"It's not a party at all." commented Natsu with his arms crossed, causing everyone to go silent and confused except for a certain party pony.
"What?! Is there something missing? I knew something was missing! Is it the cake? No, I've already checked it three times. Is it the balloons? No, I already calculated the number and size of each one. Is it the confetti? The moment of revelation? What is it missing?!" asked Pinkie Pie on the verge of extreme panic.
Instead of answering, Natsu puffed out his cheeks before expelling a blast of fire that scared all the ponies present. However, instead of hitting something, the blast of fire stopped below the banner and took the shape of the Fairy Tail symbol.
"Now that's a real party!" declared Natsu with a big toothy grin.
"Aye, sir!" said Happy.
"Ah, right. That's what I was missing." said Pinkie Pie calming down.
While the rest of the Mane 6 was a bit confused, the rest of Team Natsu smiled, as they knew what their dragon slayer friend was like.
If Pinkie Pie's parties were crazy, with the mages of Earthland it was even crazier.
"Check this out." said Natsu before expelling fire from his fingers and making them form the word Fairy Tail, much to the amazement of the ponies watching.
"Very nice, but see if you can top this." said Gray before making a perfect ice sculpture of the guild building, impressing the watching ponies. "Not bad, huh?" asked Gray before a small fireball impacted the sculpture, melting it in the process. "Hey!"
"Oops, sorry. Looks like your little sculpture wasn't that impressive." said Natsu with a mischievous grin before a block of ice landed on his head, knocking him to the ground.
"Wow. I'm so sorry. Must have been an accident." said Gray with a mischievous grin.
"Accident my ass!" said Natsu before lunging towards the ice mage and punching him in the face, sending him crashing into a table.
"Damn you. Do you want a fight, huh? Well you'll get one!" said Gray getting up and punching the fire dragon slayer, sending him crashing into another table.
"Oh, now you've really pissed me off!" said Natsu.
Soon after, Natsu and Gray got into a fight that caused a ball of smoke to engulf them.
Some of the ponies watching the fight stared in confusion, while others were cheering the fight on.
"Tough on him. Tough. Tough. That's it. Crush him." said Rainbow Dash enjoying the fight.
The two mages continued their fight until they had to stop when they felt a dark presence behind them. Turning their heads, the two were petrified when they saw Erza giving them a murderous look with a dark aura enveloping her.
"You two, we're at a party they've thrown for us, so you'd better be on your best behavior, did you understand?" asked Erza in a threatening tone.
"Y-Y-Y-Yes, ma'am. Forgive us, ma'am." said Natsu hugging the ice mage as he trembled in fear.
"We'll be very good. We promise." said Gray hugging the dragon slayer as he trembled in fear.
"Okay. And now..." began Erza before turning from a murderous look to a happy one. "Can I have another pie, please?" asked Erza to Pinkie Pie with a twinkle in her eye.
"Sure." said Pinkie Pie before handing her a tray full of pies. "You can have as many as you want."
The red-haired mage wasted no time in trying one of the pies.
"MMM. Those are the best pies I've ever tasted!" said Erza enjoying the sweet taste of the pie.
"Thank you. When I make them, I make sure they are the best in town." said Pinkie Pie.
At a separate table, Lucy, Wendy, Happy, Charle and some of the Mane 6 were watching the scene.
"Your friends are a bit... how should I put it...?" said Rarity not knowing how to express it.
"Energetic?" asked Lucy.
"You could say so." said Rarity.
"I understand. I thought the same way when I first met them too, but you end up getting used to it eventually." said Lucy.
"I have to hand it to Erza, she knows how to tower over those two." said Applejack.
"She's a little scary though." said Fluttershy.
"That Erza for you." said Charle.
"Yeah, she can be scary sometimes, but she's a really good person." said Wendy.
"You could say she's like a big sister to us." said Happy with a fish in his mouth.
"You are certainly a pretty special bunch." said Twilight.
"That I won't deny." said Lucy before they all laughed a little.
Team Natsu may have just arrived in that world, but after that welcome party, they could tell that that town, Ponyville, had the same essence as Fairy Tail.
