Rage of a demigod

AN: Well, here I am with another story. This one lingered in my head for a while and I'm going to leave this intro chapter out there until I eventually come back to work on the story.

I originally wanted to put this as a regular Percy Jackson story but there were too many elements taken from GoW for that to happen.

And now I present to you: Rage of a Demigod. Hope you enjoy.

1 I Hope This Guy Doesn't Tear Me Apart

Percy

I had a really crazy week, to say the least. How crazy? Well first, my math teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill me. My best friend turned out to be a half-goat (not a donkey, trust me, he gets offended if you mention it), then my mom, my friend and me run away from the actual Minotaur, my mom gets killed by the said Minotaur and I find out that I'm actually a demigod.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I don't know who exactly my father is. He abandoned my mother before I was born and left her with some slob who I'm pretty sure rather wants to be married to my mother's bean dip. I'm actually glad we smashed his Camaro.

And the reason why we left was that my real father is a god.

Yeah, the Greek gods are real by the way.

And if you're familiar with mythology you would know that gods don't really hang around their demigod children. So why should I be an exception?

And right now I'm in a camp called Camp Half-Blood. It's pretty much a summer camp for the gods' half-blood children (though Hera and Artemis don't have any children here due to Hera being the goddess of marriage and Artemis being an eternal maiden but out of respect they each get their cabin) which was run by Mr. D, or Dionysus, the god of wine. And the one helping him was my favorite 6th grade teacher who later turned out to be a centaur named Chiron, the trainer of heroes.

Did I mention that I had a crazy week?

Among the twelve cabins, I stayed at Hermes' cabin. I was unclaimed, a half-blood whose heritage isn't revealed, and since Hermes is a god of travelers I was taken in until I was claimed by my godly parent. And considering the cabin is overcrowded there is a possibility that it might not happen at all. Oh, joy.

Right now I was practicing archery since half-bloods need to fight and go to dangerous quests we needed to be skilled enough to survive. And right now I had archery class with Luke, the son of Hermes and the counselor of the Hermes cabin. He was actually a pretty cool guy.

The problem was that my archery sucked despite how many times he tries to help me.

"Alright, Percy, let's try again," he said. "As I said, focus on the target…"

Then something else caught my attention. Actually, someONE else caught my attention. Several yards next to us I saw another camper picking up a bow and arrows. He had black hair that went just above his shoulders, wore a white T-shirt and black pants. And he was pretty tall, easily taller than Clarisse, a daughter of Ares. And he was definitely more muscular. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was more muscular than any other half-blood here. I think only some pro wrestlers had more muscles than he did.

Great, now I'm feeling out of shape.

And a few other strange features were the two short blades on his back that didn't seem to be held by anything. I've never seen swords designed like this. The guard of the blades appeared to be monstrous head with the blade coming out of its mouth. The blades themselves were wide and curved at the end. Even some edges stuck out at some parts of the blades.

And a few more things that REALLY make him stick out are the fact that his skin is colored light grey, almost to the point of being chalk white. Another thing was the red tattoo that went down the left side of his face which ended in a spike in the middle of his left cheek. I could also see some red tattoos on his left arm. And speaking of red, his eyes were also colored red.

There was sticking out like a sore thumb, and then there was this guy.

"Percy, are you listening?" I heard Luke ask.

"Oh, sorry about that," I said. "I was just wondering who that guy was." I pointed in the direction of the red-eyed camper.

Luke looked in his direction. He was silent for a few moments before he started to explain. "That's Marcus. He and I came to this camp together, actually. And he is considered to be the greatest warrior in the camp."

I looked back at Marcus in a slight surprise. This guy was the greatest warrior in the camp? Well, he certainly looked the part.

"In which cabin is he?" I asked.

"Well, he still isn't claimed by any of the gods," Luke explained. "Ever since we came here he still remained unclaimed."

I was somewhat surprised by this. From what I got Luke and Clarisse were among the greatest warriors in the camp and they were claimed. Sure, the gods didn't claim everyone but they claimed the greatest warriors so people knew whose children they are. And yet this guy wasn't claimed despite being the greatest if Luke's praise was anything to go by?

"Let's just continue practicing," Luke suggested and went back to explaining but I hardly listened and instead watched what Marcus was doing

I then saw Marcus aiming the arrow at the target. He released the bowstring and the arrow flew, hitting the target right in the center. Then he took another arrow and fired, also hitting the center but he didn't hit the arrow. He repeated the process three more times, hitting the center with not a single arrow damaged.

If I wasn't impressed just from Luke's words, I sure was now.

Marcus then went to pick the arrows from the target. He looked at them as if inspecting them for any damage. Finding none he came back at the previous position.

This probably wasn't a smart idea, but maybe I should talk to him. Maybe he could give me some tips. He probably isn't a jerk.

I approached him, which Luke apparently didn't notice until I was already close to Marcus. Before he could call out I said, "That was some impressive shooting."

That got Marcus' attention and he turned to me. And I suddenly wished that he didn't. When I got a good look at his face he seemed to give me a glare, his sharp stare made me freeze in place. My instincts were now telling me to turn back and slowly walk away.

I probably would have if he hadn't spoken. "Who are you?" his voice was pretty deep and somewhat rough.

"I-I-I'm P-Percy J-Jackson. I-I'm new here," I stammered out still nervous under his gaze.

"Humph, yet another bastard child of the gods in this gods forsaken place," he said as he looked away. I blinked at what he said. I heard a lot of things describing us but no one actually used the word 'bastard'.

"Hello there, Marcus," said Luke as he finally approached.

"Luke," Marcus greeted simply before once again taking out his bow and arrows. He once again shot, hitting the target dead center. Was this guy ignoring us?

"So, do you know who your godly parent is?" I asked, my mouth a lot faster than my brain. I saw Luke actually tense and Marcus fidget before he shot another arrow though this one actually shot through the first arrow reducing it to splinters.

Marcus growled before turning towards me, once again I froze in place and this time he was actually glaring. "Look, I'm not in the mood to talk. So move!"

Luke grabbed me by the shoulder. "We'll be practicing over there," he said while pulling me along. "Sorry for bothering you."

We retreated back to our spot.

I honestly didn't know what that guy's deal was. I didn't say anything offensive, did I? Did he have a problem with his godly parent?

"Sorry, Percy. He isn't normally like this, I swear. He probably just had a bad day," said Luke while briefly glancing back at Marcus.

I nodded. But curiosity got the better of me and I asked, "Is it the subject really so personal for him?"

Luke's face softened and he let out a sigh. "More than you can imagine, Percy. But let's drop the subject at the moment. We need to continue practicing. And pay attention this time"

I gave him a nod. I really need some skill if I am to fight monsters and talking won't help.

I just hope I get better.

And I didn't get any better. Not to mention that not too far next to me we had a guy who scored nearly all perfect shots and only messed up one because I distracted him. Turns out, that's not a confidence booster.

Right now I was back at the Hermes cabin. It was late and we needed to go to sleep. I would protest but those who stayed awake will be attacked by harpies.

A bit of an overkill if you ask me.

Though, I noticed that someone was missing.

"Hey, Luke," I called out getting Luke's attention. "Since Marcus is undetermined shouldn't he also be here?"

He was about to answer but some other camper interrupted. "Thank the gods, he isn't. With someone like him, we would run out of room really fast."

"Yeah, and he would also probably throw a few of us out so he can get comfortable," said another.

Luke sighed at that. "Look, guys, he isn't that petty. He wouldn't throw you out just so he gets some room."

"Of course you would think like that, Luke. You're his buddy."

I was caught off guard with that statement. From the encounter earlier Marcus and Luke didn't really seem like buddies. Or that they were close at all.

"Just be quiet and go to sleep," Luke responded and those two just walked away.

As if reading my mind, Luke spoke up. "I know what you're gonna ask," he said. "And no, right now we aren't really friends. We did travel to the camp together but even then we couldn't really be considered friends. We were more acquaintances than anything else. People just exaggerate."

"Is he really that bad that no one wants him here? I doubt it's just because he would take up more room."

"He isn't a people's person. He can be quite vulgar and aggressive. Combined with what he can do people don't want to get on his bad side so they keep their distance," he explained. Yeah, I would probably try to keep my distance as well. "But, enough about that. Let's get some sleep."

I was about to ask him where exactly does Marcus sleep if not in the Hermes cabin but I could feel sleep taking over me.

And a lot happened after a couple of days. We had a Capture the Flag contest. Team Ares vs Team Athena with some other campers joined in. Luckily Marcus wasn't among them which I was grateful for. I didn't really want to face him. I'm pretty sure I would get pummelled.

Another thing that happened was that I was claimed. And it was by Poseidon, the god of the seas. Now that would have been good if it didn't turn out that he and his brothers Zeus and Hades took an oath after World War 2 not to have any more children.

As it also turns out Zeus' Master bolt was stolen and he blames Poseidon. And since gods were known to use other people to get what they wanted Zeus now blamed me since he suspects that Poseidon used me to steal it.

That is despite the fact that I never knew anything about it or the whole 'gods and mythologies were real' until just recently and never left the camp since.

Yeah, my life sure is great.

And now I was on a quest to bring back the Master bolt. A really creepy oracle gave me a prophecy that says that I could succeed but I would fail to save what matters the most.

What's that you may ask? My mother. Yeah, I really don't care about all of this I just want my mother back, and since the clues led us to Hades I knew this would be my chance to get her back. There was no way I was not going to this quest.

My friend Grover and Annabeth came with me. Grover, because he needs to get a special permit which allows him to seek Pan, the god of the wilds. And also because he is my friend. Annabeth is here to prove her mother Athena that she is capable.

Right now we were sleeping and my dreams were really strange.

I could see two children, a boy and a girl not older than thirteen, sitting in some alleyway in a city. They looked very similar with both of them having black hair and red eyes though the boy had short hair while the girl's hair went below her shoulders.

And both were wearing worn-out clothes which made me realize that they were homeless. The girl also had a soft, almost sad expression while the boy had a sterner more serious expression.

The boy actually looked like Marcus. But he didn't have the tattoos and his skin was slightly tanned. Was I seeing a young version of Marcus?

The boy was giving the girl some water from a bottle.

"Here, Maya. Drink up," he said and the now named Maya took a long gulp of water. And now I noticed that she had something on her face. A red mark similar to Marcus' tattoo but it was messier, and not as sleek as Marcus'.

"How much more can we go on like this, Marcus?" she said handing him the water.

So that was actually Marcus. Am I looking into his past? I had weird dreams before but not like this.

"As long as we can," he said.

"B-but, those monsters… You won't be able to fend them off forever," she said in a frightened tone.

"I can try. I would take on the whole world if it meant protecting my sister."

Then someone came from behind. "You won't need to fight alone."

That got the reaction from them. Maya got tense and Marcus balled his hands into fists and walked in front of his sister in a protective manner. In front of them was someone who appeared to be a younger version of Luke who held his hands in front of him.

"Whoa, whoa, there is no need to fight."

Then the scene shifted. I saw Marcus carrying his sister slung over his shoulder. And he was running in some sort of forest. A very familiar forest.

"Marcus, stop! We can't leave her behind!" yelled Maya as she tried to get out of her brother's grip and failing.

"As soon as we get in a safe distance I'll leave you and help her! But not before that!"

I looked at the scene in confusion. What is going on? Who were they running from? And who exactly were they leaving behind?

"Come on, hurry!" I heard a very familiar voice calling out. It was Grover! I saw him standing a good distance away from them and hurryingly gesturing for them to come.

Marcus then closed the distance and put Maya down. "Stay here. I'll come back shortly." And with that, he started running back.

Then the scene shifted again. And this one was a lot more gruesome.

In this one, Marcus looked a few years older standing in some sort of room filled with smoke. He wasn't wearing a shirt showing his not as developed but still impressive muscles. And he had those blades that he had when I saw him back at camp. He held them in each hand and they looked like they were set on fire.

The gruesome part was this. I saw another young man running towards Marcus with a sword. As he struck Marcus swiftly dodged and thrust one of his fiery swords right through the guy's stomach. He screamed before Marcus forcefully pulled the blade out of him while spraying some blood on the floor.

That scene was honestly making me want to throw up. I killed a few monsters before but they turned to golden dust so seeing another person get killed like that was very disturbing.

This time a teenage girl came out trying to do the same as the guy before but with a spear this time. With the speed that I could barely track he deflected her spear and slashed her throat, killing her as well.

Several more people attacked him. They tried slashing, stabbing, grappling. Nothing worked. Marcus dodged, parried and countered everything, killing at least a dozen more of them.

The bile in my stomach wasn't going to settle down any time soon.

Several of them stopped as if realizing that they would just get slaughtered. They tried running but Marcus easily caught up with them, killing them with a mad look in his eyes.

Almost all of them fell, leaving one left. A woman, though the smoke didn't leave any noticeable details.

With a growl he swiftly attacked, ready to strike her down like all the rest.

"No, wait-AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" she was cut off with a swift slash on her chest.

But then something else happened. Marcus lost all the madness in his eyes which was replaced by a look of complete shock.

He then gazed at his last victim. "NOOOOOOO!"

I immediately woke up, my face dripping with sweat. Bile rose again in my throat but for real this time. I quickly got up and ran to the side to empty my stomach.

That wasn't pleasant, to say the least.

It felt like I was there personally witnessing the carnage. Like I could feel the heat from that place and smell the blood that was spilled.

"Percy? Are you alright?" I heard Grover ask from behind me. He sniffed the air and immediately got the look of disgust. Pretty sure he could smell the vomit. "By the gods, Percy, what happened to you?"

I wanted to say it was nothing but I knew it wouldn't fool him after this. Plus, I saw him in my dream so he could probably explain some things to me so I end up explaining my dream.

The moment I did I saw Grover look really pale like he saw a ghost before returning to normal a moment later. "That's something we don't really like to discuss."

"What exactly? Why was Marcus killing all those people?" I asked wanting to know what exactly was that. Killing monsters I can understand but regular people? From the weapons and armor they had, I assumed they are demigods but still.

"L-l-look, Percy, I'll tell you, but later. The topic isn't really comfortable," he said before going back to sleep.

I was annoyed that I didn't get answers but after thinking about it I understood that talking about a guy slaughtering a bunch of demigods isn't the best bedtime story.

I went back to sleep myself though I wondered if it was going to be peaceful after what I saw.

So after that happened I had an adventure where I finally cleared my name. It turns out the god of war Ares stole the Bolt and tried to pin it on me, I returned the Bolt, met my dad for a while and even got my mother back.

However, bad luck seemed to follow me everywhere. It turns out that Luke is the one who was behind this and Ares used him to steal the Bolt. On top of that, it also turns out that they were both manipulated by Kronos, the king of the titans. And the same titan has his sights on me.

Luke and I later had a confrontation where he summoned a scorpion to poison me and I was left barely clinging to life.

When I came to I felt the taste of chocolate-chip cookies in my mouth. Nectar.

I woke up and saw Annabeth looking at me and holding the glass of nectar. Something similar also happened when I first arrived here.

"Here we are again," I said.

"You idiot," Annabeth said, which is how I knew she cared. "You were lucky! If it weren't for Chiron's healing…"

"Now, now," I can hear Chiron say. "Give Percy some credit." He was in his wheelchair form. A good way to hide the fact he was a centaur. "But she is right. If it weren't for Marcus you'd be dead."

I blinked in surprise. Did I hear him right? Marcus was the one who saved me?

I looked around and actually saw that Marcus was also here. He was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He was also looking at me though thankfully he wasn't glaring.

"You helped me?"

"I wasn't actively looking for you, I was just passing by. I saw you lying on the floor with a sign of scorpion sting on your hand."

"And after that, he raced over here so we could heal you," explained Chiron.

I looked at Marcus with complete surprise. He actually saved me? After everything I've seen about him, I wasn't sure what exactly to think of him. The dream I had of him killing demigods gave the impression that he was some sort of savage monster. The fact that other campers didn't really want to be near him added to that.

However, in my dream, I also saw a side that wasn't like that. He had a sister he cared for and would fight the world if it meant her safety. Something I would definitely do for my mother. Was that maybe an explanation of why he was killing those people, because they hurt his sister? Not to mention, he saved me from certain death.

Maybe I was a bit too quick to judge him. There is definitely more to him than violence.

"Marcus," I started, gaining his attention. "Thank you."

He stared at me for a few moments before giving me a nod.

"So, Percy," Chiron said. "Would you mind telling us what happened?"

I explained everything. How Luke worked for Kronos and how he was the one who stole the Master Bolt, how he tried to confront me and poisoned me with a pit scorpion.

Marcus grunted after hearing all of that. "Why am I not surprised that it's him?"

I looked at him confused. Did he really expect Luke to be the traitor?

"Well, he was never the same after he took that quest," Annabeth said with a downcast expression.

"But not any less tragic," said Chiron, not sounding any more pleased than those two were.

The rest of the conversation Marcus remained silent. I didn't really have high hopes for the future but they gave some assurance.

I walked out and sat on the beach. I needed to clear my head and sitting next to the sea made me feel calm.

Then I heard some heavy footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw that it was Marcus. I wondered what he was doing here.

Without any word, he also seated himself on the sand and watched the sea.

There was an awkward tension between us though I'm pretty sure that I was the only one feeling it. Marcus looked like he didn't even notice I was there. It honestly seemed like he was being rude on purpose.

He just sat there several feet next to me and just looked at the sea while I was now feeling awkward with him just being here.

I decided to break the tension.

"Um, hi there." Smooth, Percy, very smooth.

He turned slightly to look at me before going back to his previous activity.

"I- uh- thank you once again for saving my life. I owe you big time."

He once again spared me a glance. "Don't think about it too much. There was no reason to just let you die," he said with that deep voice.

"Right," I said. "Do you come here often?" I had no idea why I suddenly asked. Maybe it's because I didn't want things to be awkward anymore.

He was silent for a few moments before he answered. "Sometimes. I don't spend too much time here."

"Any particular reason why here?" I asked. My reason was that the sea made me feel calm, which was more than likely due to me being the son of Poseidon. So what was his reason?

The silence lasted a bit longer than before. "It's personal."

And he didn't say anything else. He really was a guy of few words.

I decided to play it a bit more risky. "Where did you get that tattoo?" I was also curious about how his skin changed so much but I felt like it would also be a bit more personal than asking about tattoos.

His gaze went to his left arm where the tattoo was. I could see his fist slightly clenching. "Hephaestus cabin, they made it. It was to honor someone."

To honor someone? I wondered who it could be. Then I remembered my dream where there was also Marcus' sister, who also had similar marks on her body though I wasn't sure if those were tattoos as well. Maybe something happened to her and he had those tattoos made to remember her.

Then I also remembered Marcus killing other demigods, for reasons still not known to me, and how after he killed that one girl he screamed 'no'.

My eyes slightly widened at the thought. That couldn't be it, could it? Was the person he killed in my dream his sister? That would explain the reason why he was so shocked at his last victim. Still, I hoped that it was something else.

With that thought, I was afraid to ask him any more questions about his personal life. It didn't seem appropriate anymore.

I thought of something that might be less personal for him. "So where did you get those swords?"

Now I could clearly see his fist clench and his expression became sterner. I was actually somewhat scared.

"I'd rather not speak about it here," he said his features softened back to his less stern expression and his fist unclenched.

"S-sorry about that," I stammered out. Did this guy have things that weren't personal?

After a bit of pondering what I should ask him next, my mind settled on something I thought would be a bit crazy.

"So, I heard you were the best warrior in the camp. Is that correct?"

He shrugged. "No one was able to beat me so far," he said seemingly with hardly any interest, like he didn't care about that fact which actually made my situation easier.

"Not even Luke?" I asked to which he shook his head in response. "Well, I was wondering. With this situation with Luke and with me being targeted by Kronos, I'm going to need someone to help me improve in my fighting ability.' He then turned to me as if slowly realizing what I wanted to say. 'So I thought that… maybe… you could teach me!"

Marcus had his full attention on me. He raised an eyebrow, which seemed to be his way of displaying shock.

Marcus

Marcus was honestly surprised he didn't know what to say. "You want me… to train you?"

Percy nervously nodded. "Well, I'll need to be at my best when I eventually face Luke and I'm sure having you help me would be the best bet for that."

Marcus put his hand on his chin. He was honestly clueless about how to answer. He never taught anyone before, mostly because people were too nervous to ask or just refused to even approach him.

Yet this kid outright asked him for training. Perhaps Percy didn't know just how infamous he was in this camp. Marcus didn't really want to explain it to him but in the end, he guessed it didn't matter.

After a bit of awkward silence where Percy started feeling uncomfortable Marcus rose from the sand and stood above Percy.

"Stand up," Marcus said and Percy immediately obeyed. "I thought about your request and I decided." Percy was anxious to hear his answer. "I will train you." Percy gave a smile but before he could celebrate Marcus raised his hand with his index finger extended. "However I have to warn you, I never taught anyone before and I won't go easy on you as Luke did with your training, especially if you want to be good enough to defeat him. It will be rigorous and I will not sugar-coat my words. And when we train I do not want to hear you complaining, understood?"

Percy gave a small gulp at the military-like tone. He wouldn't be surprised if Marcus turned out to be the son of some sort of soldier. However, Percy calmed down and answered. "I understand. I'll try to do my best."

Marcus gave a nod. "Alright then, from now on I'll try to teach you how to be a better fighter," he said in a less military but still serious tone. "But, as I said, I never taught anyone before so don't expect me to act like some experienced teacher."

Percy was honestly having second thoughts about this. Was this really a good idea? Could Marcus really teach him anything if he was that inexperienced? Perhaps he could ask Chiron to teach him instead.

But after thinking about it that probably wouldn't happen. Other campers would probably take offense to Percy suddenly gaining personal tutoring from Chiron while they kept their regular training. But if Marcus taught him there was likely a chance no one would complain since Marcus was another camper. A really good one from what he heard but he still wasn't Chiron.

And while he never taught anyone before his experience would surely make him able to explain certain things and give some tips.

"Right, and thank you, Marcus," Percy said.

"Don't thank me yet. We haven't even started. We need to see if this training will actually be fruitful," he explained. "I can begin your training soon if you're planning to stay at the camp for the year."

Percy looked at him confused. Why did he need to know that?

"If you stay, then we can begin your training early and I would guarantee to have some time to teach you."

So I can begin earlier if I stay for a whole year, Percy thought. Though, what does he mean by guarantee having some time to teach him?

As if reading his thoughts, Marcus answered. "Just so you know I also take on quests, though not only ones given by the Oracle. In fact, I was returning from one such quest when I saw you on the ground after your confrontation with Luke."

Percy counted himself really lucky. If Marcus finished his quest a few minutes later than things would have turned really bad.

"My point is I won't have the whole summer to train you. If you want me to train you for a big amount of time you'll have to stay for the rest of the year."

Suddenly a voice called from next to us. "Am I interrupting something?" Both of them turned towards the new arrival, who turned out to be Chiron in his white stallion form.

"Oh, I was just asking Marcus for some training," explained Percy.

Chiron raised an eyebrow at that. "Really?" He then looked at Marcus. "You're actually going to train him? I'm surprised. You never trained anyone before."

"He asked. I accepted. That's all there is to it," was the only answer Marcus gave.

Chiron still looked a bit surprised before letting out a smile. "Well, it's nice to see you getting along with someone, Marcus. You'll find that having students will be quite an enriching experience, believe me." Marcus' reply was only a single 'hmph' making Chiron chuckle a bit. "Ah, before I forget, Percy, will you go back to your mother and come back next summer or will you stay here?"

Percy thought about it for a moment. Will he stay here and receive his training from Marcus early, or will he wait until the next summer and spend some time with his mother?

It was a tough call in all aspects but Percy came to a decision. "I think I'll come back next summer. I would still like to spend some time with my mother. I hope you understand."

Percy could see Marcus' features soften a little before he nodded. "I understand. Very well, I'll train you next summer then." He walked away, leaving Chiron and Percy alone.

Percy then turned to the centaur. "Hey, Chiron, may I ask you something?"

Chiron then looked at Percy, having a good feeling on what he planned to ask. "Go ahead."

"What can you tell me about Marcus? I heard that he is probably the best in the camp but not much else," said Percy but leaving out the dreams he had about Marcus.

Chiron gave a sigh. He guessed right on what Percy would ask. "Well, Marcus is a very unique case here in Camp Half-blood. He isn't probably the best, he is definitely the best. Sure, he isn't as smart as some Athena campers but his physical prowess makes up for that," he said and noticed that Percy was even more curious so he elaborated further. "He is actually physically stronger than a regular demigod. No one in the camp could match his strength. He is also pretty fast that he can be compared to the campers at Hermes cabin. He is skilled in using many types of weaponry but mostly uses those blades. And in battle, he is pretty ferocious and there are times he can be really cunning. We don't have him participate in the Capture the Flag because the other team would be at a great disadvantage if he was on their enemy's side."

Percy was getting more impressed the more he listened.

Chiron continued. "However, despite all that, no god has claimed him, which, even I admit, is very unusual. We do have many unclaimed campers but they don't really stand out as Marcus does. Many speculated that he was possibly a son of Ares or even Zeus though he hasn't shown anything inherent to Zeus' offspring. Not to mention he doesn't get along well at all with the Ares cabin. However, the more popular candidate is Hercules since he has shown the similarities of having enhanced strength and his aggressiveness."

Percy intently listened and he started feeling sorry for Marcus. The way Chiron described him he was definitely a demigod the gods would want yet he was never claimed. Percy was claimed by Poseidon after a fight with a few children of Ares but the best in the camp still isn't? He imagined that's one of the reasons why Marcus seems so angry.

But a few more questions lingered in his mind. "But what about his mortal parents?"

Chiron slightly tensed at that question, like he was hoping not to be asked. He sighed before replying. "Look, Percy, I know you're curious, which isn't a bad thing, but I'd think it's best if you ask Marcus himself. He would be able to tell you a lot more than I can," he said before giving Percy a smile. "Come on, let's get you prepared. I'm sure your mother would like to see you."

Percy blinked at the sudden change of topic but he didn't want to pester Chiron any more. Marcus seemed like a really sensitive topic in the camp which made Percy even more curious about him. At least he learned more, even though the information was more or less basic.

He went with Chiron to pack his things; he really wanted to see his mother after all of this and it's definitely more worth to him than finding out about Marcus.

Though, for some reason, Percy had a nagging feeling that something big is going to happen and Marcus would be a huge part of it.

AN: And that's the end of it, folks. Yes, Marcus is my stand-in for Kratos in this story. I thought that since Percy Jackson is a modern take on Greek Mythology then why shouldn't I have my own take on God of War so here we are. I hope I did the characters justice in this.

I'm not sure when I'll continue this. It may happen soon, maybe later but I will sometime in the future.

And don't forget to check out my other stories, not to mention leave a review. They are great motivators.

See you next time!
