Chapter 18
With the first construction process finished, I decided to have a break before starting the other projects I had in mind, and explore the island a bit while doing so.
But before I went exploring, I needed to do something that I had been putting off because of how busy I was. I needed to create bodies for the elemental spirits that Thorny would bring with her at any moment.
Determined to do this, I went down to my private cellar below the castle. Once there, I used "Kin Maker" to create a huge chain of eggs. I first created about a thousand Night Elf bodies. The ones that weren't occupied by Spirits, I would simply create souls for them and they would become normal citizens. Then I decided to add about fifty Nightmare Wolfs to be Rogue's subordinates. And lastly, as an experiment, I created Hellmoth Eggs, Dark Steel Beetle, and even create a Kraken Egg.
This time, my creations hadn't spent as many magicules as the previous times, simply because instead of spending my own magicules creating the creatures instantly, I would let them grow little by little by absorbing the magicules in the environment.
Once my preparations were complete, I decided to start exploring the island. Initially it was just going to be me, but Tuatha insisted that I couldn't go alone, in case I was attacked. I tried to tell her that I was a Demon King and that I could take care of myself, but she completely ignored me… Wasn't I supposed to be her king? Well, in the end, I agreed to take Hiroka with me, since she was good at exploring. But afterwards, Rogue insisted in coming too… Why? Well, because he was bored. I tried to refuse, but he made his beaten-dog face, and I ended up accepting. I thought that was it… until my little Esteno insisted on going with me too. With her I didn't even try to refuse; she already had me wrapped around her little finger.
So, we went out to explore the island.
We had provisions for several days, since according to the maps that showed the island, it was almost as big as the Kingdom of Farmuth.
Our first few days were pretty quiet, except for the occasional monster that we spotted in the distance. We discovered a small lake not far from the city, which I planned to turn into an aqueduct that would provide drinking water for the city, if we could get rid of a gigantic shark-like monster that seemed to be the undisputed king of the lake. We also discovered a plant very similar to the tomato from my previous world, which Raziel identified as a Tumuro plant. This plant gave me several ideas for recipes that I could teach to our great chef.
Only three days had passed when Raziel informed me...
Warning. Many presences have been detected heading in this direction.
Beside me, Hiroka got ready by taking out her beloved needles.
A few minutes later, we were surrounded by demons.
These weren't like the demons I had encountered so far. Three of them seemed to be Arch Demons that had obtained a physical body, and the rest, about three hundred, seemed to be High Demons with a physical body as well. The three Arch Demons, one with blood red hair, one with green hair, and one with blue hair, got ahead of the rest and headed towards us.
"Who dares to invade Demon King Guy Crimson's domain?" - asked the red demon.
I doubted this demon was Guy Crimson himself, as Raziel informed me that his magicule reserves were much lower than mine. "Guy Crimson's domain? Isn't he supposed to rule over the great frozen continent?" – I asked back.
"Moron! The great Guy Crimson rules the whole world! He is the most powerful of all the Demon Kings, and the most powerful being in the world!" – Answered the demon. Clearly, this guy believed that Guy was the supreme god, or something. "Now, answer! Who are you and what are you doing here? Respond quickly before I, Regulus, one of the demons His Majesty Guy Crimson personally named, crush you."
"I'm the Demon King Rogan, and I have decided to make this island my permanent home. I hope we can live together in peace." – I said, although I doubted that they would accept.
"Ha, ha, ha, ha... Do you really think you're a Demon King?" – mocked the demon. "There are only Ten Great Demon Kings, boy. And you are not one of them. How dare you compare yourself to the great Demon King Guy Crimson? Just for that impudence, I will annihilate you!" – Regulus said, fulfilling my prediction.
"Daddy?" – Said Esteno.
"Yes, honey?" – I replied, completely ignoring the demon maniac, which seemed to make him angrier.
"These guys are very bad. Can I eat them? – Asked my beautiful daughter.
"Of course, darling. Leave these three to me, and you take care of the rest." – I told her while patting her head.
"OK, Daddy." – Esteno replied, and her body began to shine and grow, until she returned to her true form: A snake thirty meters long and as thick as a tree, with five heads.
As the demons froze upon seeing Esteno's true form, fatherly pride flashed in my heart. Even more so when she swallowed five of the enemy High Demons in one bite.
While my daughter had her snack, I ordered Rogue and Hiroka to keep an eye on her, but not to interfere in my fight against the Arch Demons.
When the Arch Demons came out of the astonishment of seeing a little girl transform into a thirty-meter hydra, they started their attack. Or at least they tried.
Demons, especially those higher in rank than High Demon, specialized in magic rather than close combat, so as soon as the combat began, I activated "Magic Jamming" that I had obtained from Charybdis's subordinates, which made it difficult to use magic within a range of three hundred meters.
"What is this? How can it be possible? - Regulus asked me, while looking confused at his outstretched hand, from where he had tried to cast a nuclear magic spell. His blue and green haired companions seemed equally confused.
"Since it seems that coexistence is impossible, I'm afraid you must disappear." – I told them, while releasing my "Demon King's Haki". Seeing this, the Arch Demons in front of me turned pale and started trembling.
"It's impossible! Lord Guy would have informed us if another Demon King was born! Ha! I understand! You are a Demon King Seed, aren't you? Then, we should be able to defeat you!" - Regulus exclaimed, and he and his comrades attacked simultaneously.
Since they had finished talking, I also launched my attack. Since "Magic Jamming" didn't affect the user, I used "Chaos Eater" to create corrosion tentacles to trap the Arch Demons, and then simply used Astaroth to triple possess them. I didn't get any new skills or magic from these Arch Demons, but I did get something interesting. The magicules I got from them allowed me to take back what I had lost by creating the Death Knights and the others. But, by analyzing some of the magicules obtained, Raziel identified and obtained something called Primordial Demon Factor. When I asked him what that was, this was his answer.
The Primordial Demon Factor is a genetic-spiritual marker that belongs to the seven Primordial demons. Currently, you have three Primordial Demon Factors: Rouge, Vert, and Bleu. If enough spiritual-genetic material from the Primordial Demons is obtained, replication would be possible.
As I pondered what this might mean, and about the Primordial Demons, my daughter had already finished her snack and was back in her human form. We were going to withdraw and return to the city as a precaution, when my Grigori detected a spatial change nearby.
Before I could do anything, an immense stone door appeared out of nowhere in front of us. Three figures emerged from it, much like the recently deceased Arch Demons.
Two of the newcomers wore maid outfits, but they exuded an aura more magicule-laden than the three Arch Demons combined. The one on the right had blue hair, short and neat; and the one on the left had long green hair. But as powerful as these were, their power was dwarfed by the individual in front of them. He wore an unbuttoned black leather jacket, showing off his muscular chest, and a pendant of large fangs encircled his neck. His hair was red, but an even deeper red than Regulus's, as if dyed with the blood of his enemies.
This was indeed a powerful being. Even Raziel couldn't analyze him, and it exuded an aura so powerful that it made Hiroka, Rogue, and Esteno faint at the sight of it. It was the first time I felt so powerless in this world. I knew without a doubt that if this guy wanted to, he could destroy me with a single attack. There was only one creature that powerful in this world, or so I had heard.
"Guy Crimson, right?" – I asked the demon in front of me.
"Oh. I came to disappear the being that eliminated one of my subordinates, and I find a newly born Demon King. How interesting, first the rumors about that Jura Forest slime, and now a second Demon King has awakened so close to me. In fact, very interesting." – Guy commented, his tone amused, and even a bit sensual.
"I'm the Demon King Rogan. And I have decided to make this island my territory. I hope we can be good neighbors." – I said to the other Demon King.
"Ha, ha, ha… You're very polite. I tell you what… if you can defeat my two subordinates, I will let you have the island all to yourself." - Guy suggested.
Although it seemed like a proposition, I didn't think Guy would just let me go if I refused, so I just accepted. "Very well. I accept your offer."
With our pact agreed, the maids attacked without further delay. Even with "Magic Jamming" still activated, the maids managed to fire simultaneous nuclear magic spells directly at me. Normally, I would have dodged it, but the demons didn't seem to care that I had innocent creatures near me, so I created a barrier to protect us instead. I then used Ramiel to teleport my companions back to the village, while casting my own spells at the maids. Guy had leaned against a tree, and was watching everything with a smile on his face.
The maids charged again, this time using fire elemental magic. Specifically, the fire spell Napalm Burst. But, since I was immune to fire, I didn't try to avoid it, and just attacked them with earth magic. When the maids saw their efforts thwarted, they seemed to get angry and upped their game, using a powerful Nuclear-type spell, called Nuclear Flame.
A large pillar of fire, like a thermonuclear explosion surrounded us, but I used Ramiel to teleport out of the blast radius. The servants also seemed unharmed.
Wishing to end this stupid fight already, I used one of the most powerful spells I knew: Cocytus, focused on the two maids.
The air around me cooled at an alarming rate, and before the maids could do anything, they were surrounded by thick blocks of ice. To finish, I used the Nuclear Cannon spell to destroy them. When the dust settled, only bits of broken ice remained.
"I'm sorry about your maids." – I said as I approached Guy.
"You don't have to worry. They were just doubles." – He said, and from the door that was behind him, the two maids came out again.
"We are very sorry, Lord Guy. It seems that our doubles were defeated." – They both said.
"Don't worry, Rain, Misery. Even you guys are no match for a True Demon King." - Guy said. "Very well. You have passed my test, so you can keep this island."
"Thank you." - I answered.
"Ha, ha, ha, ¡how polite you are! I wish Leon was as polite to me as you are." – He said while laughing. "Listen, Rogan. I find you very interesting. In three days, there will be a Walpurgis, and I want you to attend."
"What's a Walpurgis?" - asked.
"It's a meeting where all the Demon Kings of the world gather to discuss any variety of matters. The subject of this time, is the evolution of a certain slime into a Demon King. I want you to be present as a new Demon King." - Guy told me.
I really didn't feel like going to chat with a bunch of super strong monsters like Guy, but even though Guy was phrasing it as a question, it was more like an order. Since it seemed like I had no other choice, I decided to attend the Walpurgis and thus support Rimuru.
"It will be an honor." - I answered.
"We'll see each other then." – Said Demon King Guy Crimson and went through the spatial gate.
The gods only knew what I had gotten myself into now.
