SMASH!
Chaos was the only way to describe it.
An entire apartment complex, utterly destroyed. Flames eating away at the remains. Both the remains of the building and the remains of the building, and the remains of the people who once lived there.
And at the center of destruction, was a man, about in his early twenties. He had slick white hair and wore clothes that were all red.
This was the one who committed this atrocity, A-class villain, Misery.
Misery. Quirk: Sacrifice. When the user destroys something or someone that has value to someone, he will gain power. The power he gains is relative to the amount of suffering he caused.
He smirked at his work. Destroying the building had been simple, just running through the support beams, and letting it crumble around him.
"Ahhhh. That feeling." Misery gripped his shoulders, his smile growing as he felt power flow through him.
The news helicopters flying overhead would show this horrible travesty to the people at home. So many people viewing this mass destruction and loss of life.
The people who had relatives living here would mourn their lost loved ones. The people who lived here and just happened to be away at the time would mourn their lost homes and possessions. Even the people who had nothing to do with this building would briefly mourn the loss of life.
All the pain and suffering, that was the source of his power.
"Hehe. Hahaha. Ahahahah!" Misery laughed as he felt his power grow. "Ah, this was great. But enough fooling around. Time to start phase two of my plan."
He looked up at the helicopters flying overhead and put on an ugly smirk. "HEY! GRIMM REAPER! I'M CALLING YOU OUT! COME FIGHT ME! RIGHT HERE! RIGHT NOW! OR ELSE I'LL DO THE SAME THING TO THE NEXT BUILDING! AND THE BUILDING AFTER THAT! YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES!"
Meanwhile, the helicopters were just barely able to pick that up, and one of the newswomen gasp.
"Ladies and gentleman, it appears Misery is attempting to call hero student, Grimm Reaper." The woman said into the camera. "His reasons are unknown, but what we do know, is that things are going to get very ugly, if someone doesn't stop him, and quick!"
XXXXXXXXX
Misery looked down at his watch in irritation. It'd been almost five minutes since he made his announcement, and yet Grimm Reaper was nowhere to be seen. "Tch. Is that bastard not gonna show up, even after I did all this. Some hero."
"Well, it's not like you gave me a whole lot of time." Said a cold-sounding voice from behind him.
Misery turned around quickly in alarm at having been snuck up on, before that alarm turned to joy, as he saw who was standing behind him.
None other than Yami Midoriya, aka, the soon-to-be pro hero, Grimm Reaper.
Yami stood facing Misery. His entire body was covered up by his Ageis Cloak. With the only thing showing from under it being his red, glowing eyes.
"Grimm Reaper." Misery said, with a vicious smile. "How long I've waited for this. Ever since I saw you during the sports festival."
"How flattering," Yami responded sarcastically. "Well unfortunately for you-"
Suddenly, the image of Yami started to flicker, until it suddenly vanished, revealing a Seer, with a Mind Weaver on top of it.
A Mind Weaver was a small spider Grimm, with the ability to create illusions.
"I'm not actually here." Yami continued, speaking through the Seer. "If you really want to fight me so badly, I'll meet you at Dagobah Beach."
"Heh. You're on kid!" Misery immediately turned in the direction of Dagobah and jumped away. Making his way towards his long-awaited battle.

It was late at night by the time Misery reached it, hitting the sand with a loud thud.
He smirked, as he saw Yami waiting for him by the water. "Yo."
Yami turned towards him. He was wearing the same thing as his illusion was earlier. Which made sense because it was his hero costume. "Your not very smart are you. Coming to an area after your enemy has had time to prepare. Especially when that enemy is me."
"I don't give a damn about any of your fancy tricks." Misery said, cracking his knuckles. "It doesn't matter what you do. I'm gonna kill you. And you know why?"
"Hmm. I'm guessing it has something to do with why you called me out here." Yami took a moment to think. "Let's see. My guess is that it has to do with how similar our quirks are."
"Heh." Misery's crossed his arm. "You hit the nail right on the head."
"So. You came to prove that your quirk is superior?" Yami said, making an educated guess.
"Not really. Not my quirk." Misery said. "Me. I've come to prove that I am superior."
"Interesting. And if not your quirk, then what about you is superior?" Yami asked. "Your skill? Your experience? Or something else."
Misery shook his head. "You still don't get it. I should have figured. The thing that makes me better than you. Is that I've accepted what I am."
"Ohhh. I see." Yami quickly realized what was going on here.
"You and I. We're cut from the same cloth." Misery started a speech. "We're monsters. We feed off the suffering of weaklings. It nourishes us. Empowers us. Each bit of pain we cause, every little bit of sorrow. Is what makes us who we are. But you! You deny this! Going so far as to try and prevent it! You've thrown away your very nature! Your birthright! You're a monster trying to pretend to be a hero!"
Yami sighed and shook his own head. "And when did you come to that conclusion. That you're a monster that is?"
"The minute I knew what my quirk was! I realized what I truly am!" Misery shouted with a mad grin on his face. "The moment I pushed a kid down a flight of stairs and felt the rush of power flowing through me! I knew that my destiny was to become a monster! And cause suffering on a level undreamt of!"
"You are a slave." Yami butted in. "You call yourself a monster but in reality, your nothing but a chained-up beast. Nothing but a slave to his own quirk. A slave to random chance."
"If I'm a slave! I'm a slave to destiny!" Misery argued. "Quirks aren't random! They're a gift from a higher power! And each quick is given for a specific reason! All this misery! All this suffering! Is their will! Their plan!"
"And you're fine with that?" Yami asked sharply. "You're fine with having no free will? Doing only what something else wants? You're fine with being a slave?"
"It's the only life I could ever have." Misery said with pride, before getting ready to pounce."And it's the only life YOU could have had. And you threw it away. So now I'm here to end your farce of a life. If you want to blame anyone. Blame that quirkless shithead you a dad."
"...I see. You know honestly when first saw you I pitied you. I thought that you were forced into this life by quirk discrimination, like many other villains. Forced to think that this was all life was for them." Yami's red eyes glowed more intensely under his hood. "But you really are nothing but a collared beast. Reacting only on instinct, with no thought of how it may hurt another. Your animal, far beyond my help. The only thing I can do now. Is put you in a cage."
"Heh. You'll never get the chance!" Misery lunged at Yami at lightning speed, cocking back his fist, ready to punch Yami right in the face.
However, when he finally reached Yami, his fist, and his entire body, just went right through him, and then past him, as Misery flew into the waters.
Another illusion? Misery thought.
SPLASH!
Misery hit the water, sinking underneath its surface after having launched himself too far.
Damn that kid and his tricks! Was he ever even here to begin with!? Misery thought as he turned his body towards the surface, and was about to start swimming upwards-
When suddenly a Feilong emerged from the depts and snatched Misery up in his jaws.
SHIT! Misery thought as he held the creature's jaws open, all while the Feilong started traveling towards the shore.
However, from inside the Feilong's throat, small Grimm beetles emerged, crawling onto Misery's body, and started biting down on his body.
Damn, that hurts! Misery thought.
The Feilong quickly reached the shores, bringing its upper half above water, and waving its head around, trying to spit Misery out.
Misery pushed himself out of the dragon's mouth.
He then spun around at high speeds, flinging all the Beetls off him.
"RAHHHHH!" The Feilong charged up its electric beam in its mouth, before firing it at Misery.
Misery brought his arms up to guard and took the attack head-on.
The beam hit him, engulfing his upper half, tearing up his shirt, and slightly singeing his arms which were smoking when the attack ended. "Tch! That hurt a bit you brat!"
He then jumped up high into the air, before kicking the air behind him, bringing himself down on the Feilong.
Misery ax kicked its head, smashing apart its bone armor, before he kicked off of it, back into the air, kicked the air behind him again, and dive kicked through its whole head.
SPLASH!
Misery sunk into the water once more, although this time he was in a much shallower part of the beach, so he actually hit the ground, as the Feilong died and faded away.
The villain then jumped out of the water, and onto the shore. Dripping wet, and pissed off.
"Grrrrrr! Reaper! You coward! Show yourself!" Misery shouted angrily at the empty beach. "Embrace your density and die by my hands! As a disgrace to all monsters."
"You really are an idiot huh?" Said Yami's voice. Coming from seemingly…everywhere. But Yami himself was nowhere to be seen. "I guess since you only saw me fight during the Sports Festival, you wouldn't understand how I truly fight."
Suddenly, an army of Beringel's appeared from seemingly nowhere. But in reality, all of them were simply hidden using the illusions of the Mind Weavers.
Then behind them all, Yami appeared.
"Grrrr. Hraahhh!" Misery charged forward and punched the closest Beringel.
His fist went through the Beringel, killing the ape-like monster.
However not even a second later, four Creeps bust out of the sand, and spat a hand full of Beetles out of their mouths, onto Misery's body.
The Beetles then bit into his skin once more, causing Misery to grit his teeth as he endured a dozen huge bug bites.
"Hrahhh!" Misery once again spun all the bugs off of them, before kicking away one of the Yami's that was charging at him, sending it flying.
"The Sports Festival has a set of rules and other things that make it extremely unrealistic towards how actual battles between heroes and villains are," Yami explained, as Misery caved in a Beringel's skull with his fist. "Firstly there is the flat, clear arena. An environment that puts people who use, well, the environment as a weapon, at a disadvantage. As well as hindering things like stealth. Not to mention your unlikely to win a fight via ring out in a real battle as well."
One of the Beringel's grabbed Misery from behind, wrapping it in its huge arms, but Misery overpowered it, and freed himself, before punching it right in the chest, sending it flying.
But it also left him open, to another Creep popping out of the sand, and spitting out some more Beetles at him.
Once again, the Beetles bit into him for a few seconds, before Misery flung them off him.
"Although, that's not to say that this battle didn't come with a few unlikely advantages." Yami continued while Misery fought. "For one, not many villains are stupid enough to walk into a trap. You gave me not only an optimal environment to fight you in but also time to plan and prepare. That was one of the big factor that decided this battle. The other being that since you're so prolific, we've gotten an exact understanding of your quirk."
Misery punched away three Beringels, sending them flying backward.
Their armor was cracked, and they were pretty injured, but unlike the first Beringel, they were still alive.
Misery's eyes widened as he saw the creatures get back up. Something's wrong. I shouldn't be having this much trouble! Why are these things are getting harder to kill.
Suddenly a Creep popped out from behind him, and shot out more Beetles, that bit into Misery once again.
And once again, Misery shook them off, just in time for Beringel to charge at him, with its fist raised.
Misery charged forward, rushing at it and punching it back. However, instead of flying back, it only skidded back. And the damage he did was significantly less than last time.
Wait! Those Beetles! Misery started to put things together.
"Looks like you started to understand the situation you're in," Yami told him, crossing his arms. "This goes into what I was saying about knowing your quirk. You see, your quirk is a body enhancement type. It increases your speed, durability, and strength. But unlike Kiba or Death Arms, yours is reliant on energy. In that case, it's rather similar to Mom's. It stores up energy and then turns that energy into power that improves your body. And that's where things become unfortunate for you. Because those Beetles that have been biting into you the whole time. Those are a special type of Grimm that I've rarely gotten the chance to use. They're called Theif Beetles. And they exist for one purpose. To steal energy."
Misery's pupils shrunk, as dread pooled within him. "You mean…my power…the power I've worked so hard to obtain is-"
"Being taken away. Yes." Yami confirmed. "You know, it's ironic really. That mindset of yours. That you were destined to beat me no matter what. Is what sealed your own fate. The moment you called me out after destroying that building, you lost. Had you not agreed to walk into my trap, my mother simply would have defeated you. But since you did agree, she doesn't have to waste her time. The moment you stepped onto this beach, I won this fight. I've even been going easy on you. I could have just kept all these Beringels invisible, and made this fight 10 times harder. But I wanted to show you how much weaker you were getting. How pointless it this struggle truly is. And give you one last chance to surrender. Even after all you've done. I don't want to hurt you any more than I have to."
For a while, there was silence. Yami looked down upon Misery, whose head was held low, and his eyes covered in shadow.
And then, he smiled. "Heheh. Hehehe. Ahahaha! AHAHAHAHA!"
Misery laughed like a made man, throwing his head back as he cackled before he looked up at Yami with a mad grin. "You fool! I told you, it doesn't matter what you do!"
Then, the villain grabbed his shoulder and started pulling. "This is my-"
RIPPP!
"DESTINY!" Misery shouted, as he ripped off his own left arm, and felt another rush of power flow through him, having sacrificed his own limb.
Misery crouched forward and lunged past all the Beringels with his fist forward. "YOUR DEAD!"
In a flash, Misery's fist went straight through Yami's chest. Impaling him.
Once again, there was silence, Misery just smiling as he looked at the hole he made in his opponent.
But that smile quickly vanished, when he realized something important.
Yami wasn't bleeding.
There was no cry of pain, no slumping over. No reaction at all. Yami simply looked down at the now one-armed villain, as if nothing was wrong.
What!? Misery started to panic. Fear and dread overtaking him. Is this another illusion! No! I can't be! I felt it! I felt my arm go through him.
"You really are a fool," Yami said. And that's when Misery noticed. That Yami's voice wasn't coming from Yami. It was coming from behind Yami.
And then the illusion dispelled. Revealing the truth.
What Misery punched a hole through was no Yami, but the Hound. Who was standing up, and looking down at Misery?
And Yami's voice had been coming from a Seer that was behind the Hound.
"Remember when I said the Sports Festival had rules that put some people at a disadvantage," Yami asked from the Seer. "The biggest disadvantage for me was that I actually had to be in the arena. Kiba calls me the biggest obstacle to her becoming the number 1 hero. Do know why that is? It's not because of power. Don't get me wrong, my most powerful Grimm are more than enough to handle the vast majority of villains with ease. But it when it comes to people like her, and Mom. I'm simply outmatched. No. The reason I'm considered a candidate for future number 1, is because I can handle situations without ever having to be there."
"You…You bastard!" Misery shouted in rage. "You were never here from the start!"
"Why would I be?" Yami asked dismissively. "Why would I put myself in danger and risk losing, when you gave me a golden opportunity to defeat you without ever seeing you in person. Thanks to my Seers, I can look over the entire city, and use my other Grimm accordingly. Fighting villains, rescuing civilians, even getting cats out of trees. Most heroes can only do at a time, by I can do it all simultaneously, from the comfort of my home. Right now, I'm fighting you, helping clean up the mess you made back at the apartment complex, taking down a gang of low-rank villains, putting out a forest fire, and doing my homework. All at the same time."
"Y-Y-you…" Misery felt a wave of pure despair wash over him, as his face portrayed both disbelief as well as utter sorrow.
"Don't be too upset though. Normally I can't take down villains of your level without devoting my full attention to them. And even then it's a struggle. But since you allowed me to set this trap, I was able to just fly to the beach. Set everything up, and then leave." Yami explained. "Although you should be proud. I used up a lot of energy to create all these Grimm. Just to beat you. That's how strong I consider you. But that strength doesn't matter in the face of pure incompetence. Now I said last time was your last chance. But I really mean it now. Give up. Or else."
"...RAHHHHHHHHHH!" Misery gave his answer, in the form of pulling his arm out and punching the Hound into a wall, cratering it, and smashing the Seer that was behind it.
"So be it." Said Yami's voice from a new location, presumably from a different Seer. "Finish him."
All the Beringel's behind him, turned invisible as the Mind Weaver's did their work.
Misery turned to face the invisible apes and got ready to fight. He was tired, and the blood loss from his torn-off arm was making him dizzy. But in his mind, destiny would still see him through this battle.
He felt a huge fist punch him in the gut, causing him to recoil in pain and spit out blood, but he quickly recovered and punched back, hitting it, but he couldn't see how much damage it did, nor did he have the time to think about it, as another fist struck him in the face, and knocked him to the ground.
As he tried to get up, the Hound landed on his back, forcing him back down, and then spitting out Theif Beetles from its mouth onto Misery.
"Gah!" Misery cried out as the Beetles bit into him, draining more and more of his power.
He tried to move, but he felt the Beringel's hold down his legs and arm, as he was getting weaker he could no longer fight them off.
Yami appeared in front of Misery, in the form of an illusion once again. "Let this be a lesson to you. Quirks are tools. Nothing more. Nothing less. And tools, while meant for a specific purpose, can be used however their wielder desires. Our quirks are indeed meant to hurt people. To make us monsters. But, I choose not to let myself become what you are. Instead, I eat despair and turn it into joy. That is the path I chose. As for you? Well, your story ends here. You'll spend the rest of your life in jail cell. Powerless."
"No…" Misery muttered. All emotions but despair and fear having left him, as he started to see black spots in his vision. "My-My destiny."
"Your destiny is nothing but a justification for you to give in to your urges," Yami said sharply. "Your quirk put you on this path. And you continued to walk it. That was your choice. And that choice has led you here. Goodbye Misery. I hope one day a better therapist then I can fix whatever's wrong with you."
And that was the last thing Misery heard, before losing consciousness.
Just felt like doing this.
Anyway, please review and have a nice day.
