Chapter 22
A week after he found the stone plate, I still hadn't been able to unravel its secrets, but that didn't mean I hadn't found a use for it. As soon as I discovered the stone's infinite magicule creation properties, the first thing I did was use my Ultimate Skill Aztaroth to absorb and replenish my magicule capacity, which had dwindled after all the names I'd had given lately. But after that, the plate remained inert for twenty-four hours, before producing magicules again. This led me to the conclusion that, although it seemed to produce magicules indefinitely, if I used it too much, it would have to remain inert for a while to recover. Once I figured this out, I went on to figure out a way to use it without overloading it, and I had a great idea, which for once didn't come from Raziel, but from a movie in my old world. Immediately, I gathered the people I needed in my office.
"Did you call us, Lord Rogan?" – Asked Arthur, accompanying Arachne.
"Yes, come on in! Arthur, I want you to look at some plans I have created and tell me if it is possible to build what I want." – I told my construction manager, showing him the plans that I had prepared.
On the sheet of paper was a scale map of the Isle of Avalon, and drawn in pencil around it were nine giant statues.
"Do you want us to build giant statues around the island?" - Arthur asked me, confused.
"Exactly. But it won't be just any statues. I want them to possess a Magisteel core of at least nine meters." – I explained.
"Nine meters? Do we have enough Magisteel to do it?" - he asked me.
"Thanks to Yoshi's Unique Skill, we can create our own Magisteel without any problem, so the material is no problem." – I explained. "Do you think it is possible to build these statues?"
"Thanks to many of the Undead Warriors possessing skills like "Earth Manipulation", it should be possible to build them in about two weeks, but sir, if I may ask, what is the function of these colossuses?" - Arthur asked me.
"Its function is both simple and essential for what I have planned." - I said, and I tell them about the mysterious plate I found in the underwater temple, and its apparent ability to produce magicules indefinitely.
"I see." – He said, very calm.
"That is all? I'm talking about a super powerful artifact and all you're going to say is "I see"? – I asked, surprised.
"If I'm honest, Lord Rogan, after seeing you name three different clans of monsters, and create bodies for more than seven hundred higher spirits and then name them, nothing about you surprises me anymore." – Arthur replied dryly.
"Okay, whatever. The thing is, I'm planning to use the stone plate to create a giant barrier over the entire island. And these statues will serve as footholds for the barrier spell." – I explained, and that seemed to get his interest.
"Oh! I see where you are going with this, Lord Rogan. That's why you want the statues to have a Magisteel core; so, they will be able to conduct magic much better. What I wonder is, why statues? – he asked me.
"Esthetic. If we are going to turn the island into a vacation spot, having several creepy towers or pillars sticking out of the ocean may scare our visitors, but if they are big statues, people will see them as something innovative and want to come and visit them as if they were monuments or something like that." - I explained.
"I see. Makes sense. Very well, Lord Rogan. We can get to work right away." - Arthur informed me.
"If I may ask, Master. What is my role in this project?" - Arachne asked me.
"Your function is quite simple. I need you to produce as much steel thread as you can, and bring it to Yoshi, so he can turn it into Magisteel Thread. We will put this thread underground, and connect it from the Stone Plate in the castle, to the cores of the colossi. This way we can constantly feed magicules to the colossi and have them ready to create the barrier immediately." – I explained.
"I see, Master. I will make sure that the production of Steel Thread starts immediately." – Arachne answered me, and she and Arthur left my office to start with their orders.
It was that same day, in the afternoon that I received a letter from Rimuru. It was nothing more and nothing less than an invitation to participate in the Tempest Foundation Festival which was about to take place.
I immediately sent him a letter back confirming my attendance, and decided to prepare for the event. First, I commissioned Arachne to prepare various gala suits for me, and I commissioned Dorian to make various jewels. If I was going to officially visit Tempest as King of Avalon, I had to show everyone else that my kingdom was prosperous. I was sure that I would not be the only monarch who would be present. Knowing Rimuru, he had probably invited everyone who was anyone, and even a demon lord or two.
There was also the issue of my transportation. I couldn't just teleport to Tempest and say hello. That wouldn't be very "royal". Therefore, I ordered one of our best flying ships to be prepared, and I summoned two Megalodons to pull it.
Once the technical problems were solved, there was the question of who to take with me. I couldn't take my entire inner circle, as this would leave the island vulnerable to attack, and I didn't want to do that, not until the barrier was ready.
In the end, three days later, everything was ready to start our journey to Tempest. I would be accompanied by Rogue, Esteno, Thorny, and Yoshi, who was interested in seeing the scientific advances of Tempest.
Our journey to Tempest took another three days by air, but we managed to make it to the festival on time. Arriving, with such pomp and elegance, we landed just outside Tempest's guest house, where Rimuru was apparently receiving his most important guests.
"Hello, King Rogan! I'm glad you were able to make it!" – Rimuru greeted us when we arrived.
"Demon King Rimuru! It is a pleasure to see you again." - I replied.
At that time, we were not Rogan and Rimuru, reincarnated friends and companions, but two kings from different nations. We had to play the role, at least while we were in public.
"I have prepared a room for you and your companions in one of our best inns. If you follow your guide, he will take you there to freshen up before dinner." – Rimuru told me, pointing to a Goblin dressed in a suit. "Tonight, we will have a little celebration here, you don't have to come or anything, but I hope to see you all there."
"You can be sure we'll be there." – I told him, and we said goodbye.
Our goblin guide took us on a tour of Tempest, where we were able to see all the progress that had been made since I was last here. The city of Tempest had become a home for all kinds of creatures living together, just as I wanted Noah City to be in the future. At dusk, after visiting almost the entire city, our guide finally took us to our inn, which looked more like a five-star Japanese-style hotel.
After a relaxing bath in a Japanese-style bathroom, we dressed in our best clothes and headed to where the Rimuru celebration was in full swing.
It was held in Rimuru's guest house, where one section had been decorated in Japanese style, with Tatami mats on the floor. The other part contained a buffet table with tons of food of all kinds, some even similar to food from my previous world. Before going to investigate the food, I decided to search for Rimuru.
I found him near a large table containing a Spear Toro, which old man Hakurou was turning into suchi that looked delicious. Rimuru was chatting with two other people. One of them was a young, ashen-haired guy who looked awkward in his monarch clothing, while the other was a tall, muscular man, also dressed in royal robes.
"Good evening, Demon King Rimuru Tempest. It is a pleasure to share this night with you." – I said formally, once we approached our host.
"Oh! King Rogan! I'm glad you were able to come tonight." – Rimuru answers me, smiling.
"King Rogan? I don't remember hearing his name before." – murmured one of the men who was with Rimuru. "Aren't you going to introduce us, Rimuru?"
"Oh! It is true that you don't know each other. Gazel Dwargo, King of the Armed Nation of Dwargon, and Yohm Farminus, King of Farminus, meet Rogan, King of the newly named Isle of Avalon, and a reincarnated companion." – Rimuru introduced us.
"It is a pleasure to meet you. These are my subordinates, Yoshi and Thorny; and my daughter, Esteno." – I said, pointing to my companions. Esteno was especially adorable tonight, wearing a little princess-style dress.
While chatting with the three kings, Raziel warned me of something interesting.
Warning…
The individual Gazel Dwargo is attempting to use "Read Thought" on your consciousness. Measures were taken to prevent it.
Oh… So, King Gazel wanted to get into my head without me knowing? How cheeky!
Luckily, I had Raziel.
The fact that he couldn't read my thoughts seemed to sour Gazel's mood a bit, but he deserved it for spying on other people's thoughts without permission.
"By the way Rumuru, I brought you some gifts to celebrate your official appointment as Demon King." – I told Rimuru, extracting some objects with my Ultimate Skill Space King Ramiel.
Among the items was a slightly different version of the cooler I had given him during the Walpurguis. The function of this was to keep the interior warm, instead of cold. Opening the fridge, I took out three flat boxes and presented them to Rimuru.
"I-Is this what I think it is?" – Rimuru asked me, completely surprised, and with tears in his eyes.
"If you think it's pizza, then it is! Brought straight from Avalon's Pizza! The best… and only place in this world where pizzas are made." – I told him; my chest swollen with pride at my latest achievement.
During my reconnaissance trip around the island, I had found a plant quite similar to the tomatoes from my world. After many tests I determined that they even tasted the same, so I brought a few seeds back to Avalon, and thanks to Willow 's Unique Skill, we had a good crop. Then I used these tomatoes to make tomato sauce, I got some cheese from the milk of the Cowdeer, the female counterpart of the Bulldeer, and since in this world they had already made bread, making pizza dough was no problem. The result, a perfectly made pizza!
"Wow ! It's so delicious! It brings back great memories of the other world." – Rimuru exclaimed, while tasting the pizza.
"Ho ho, you're right, Rimuru! This is delicious!" - Gazel exclaimed.
"Wait, Rimuru. Is that pizza? - asked a voice behind me, one I recognized.
"Oh, Yuuki. You should try this!" – Rimuru said to Yuuki Kagurazaka, Grand Master of the Free Guild.
I turned around, meeting Yuuki and a beautiful woman with short black hair. This time, however, Raziel was able to analyze the two of them with no problem.
Subjects Yuuki Kagurazaka and Hinata Sakaguchi have been successfully analyzed. Despite the power of subject Yuuki's anti-skill, none of them pose a threat to your life at the moment.
Thanks to Raziel, at least my nervousness in front of Yuuki diminished a bit, but not my suspicions that this boy was troublesome.
"Rimuru, who is this guy?" – Asked the girl, Hinata according to Raziel. Her voice was cold and her eyes looked at me as if she could see my soul and wanted to plunge a sword into it. It was chilling.
"Yuuki, Hinata, I want you to meet a good friend of mine. This is King Rogan of Avalon. Like us, he also comes from Earth." - Rimuru explained.
"A pleasure." – I answered, hoping that Yuuki had no way of identifying me, since the last time we met I had taken the form of Huges.
"He is a reincarnated like me. And he brought me the best gift: Pizza." - Rimuru continued.
"And not only that." – I said, taking out a second container. This was a fridge, from which I took out a glass with large balls of creamy ice cream.
"Is that Ice Cream?!" – Asked a surprised Rimuru, approaching to take the glass, but before he could, quick as a snake, Hinata reached out and took a spoonful.
"We should all try it, right?" – She asked with an innocent face, before taking a bite. She seemed to like it, as she immediately took another spoonful, her cheeks flushed.
"Hey, Hinata! Leave some for me." – Rimuru complained, while the rest of us laughed.
The evening continued until well into the morning. The political talks and treaties could wait until tomorrow; this was a night to enjoy.
