Reviews: (Note): Sooo... I can't see any of the reviews on the review page and I was paying attention to the number as it went up. So I know there is at least three I never got an email notification about. So I apologize to those reviews I cant see if you were asking questions or said anything I would normally respond to. Assuming they are something I would normally respond to, I'll have to respond to them in the next chapter or whenever I can actually read them. I'm sorry about that.
Alder Hill: I'll be honest, I didn't think about it transforming how he looked any. If I had, I may have actually done something like that. As for the robot arm thing, I might do something like that. I mean it would give him a permanently attached weapon to use even if he used up too much power and turned back into a human.
Bearticguy7: That sounds a bit too extravagant, honestly, and I just can't see Danny agreeing to do that sort of thing. Don't worry, there are plenty of ways the Prison can be made uncomfortable without using 'cutesy' stuff.
Octavia didn't quite understand what was going on with her recently. Just a couple weeks ago after her parents had that fight and she and Danny hung out in the park something odd happened. When Danny had wrapped his arm around her and tried to comfort her, she felt her heart start beating faster, her body felt warmer than normal, and she felt strangely happy despite being upset about the situation between her parents. And ever since then she hadn't been able to get Danny out of her head. And whenever they hung out recently she couldn't help but be tense and nervous and act a bit awkward around him, which was embarrassing. She also found that she was looking at him more frequently than she used to.
She might have asked her parents but she was worried about what they might say. So instead she decided to just look up her symptoms on the internet. She had never been sick before, she didn't even know if it was possible for her to get sick, but she assumed she had to be. That was the only logical explanation as far as she was concerned. She had no idea what else it could possibly be.
Unfortunately the internet didn't turn up any results. At least none that made any sense to her. So she sighed and decided to just ask her mother about it.
Getting up she searched around before eventually finding her mother in their library reading while sipping a glass of wine.
"Hey, mom?" Octavia asked as she walked over to her mother.
Stella sighed and lowered her book before looking at Octavia. "Yes, Octavia? What is it?"
"Um… I think there might be something wrong with me. I couldn't find anything about it online so I thought you might know instead." Octavia stated.
Stella took a sip of her wine before setting it down on the small table next to her. "Alright, take a seat then and tell me what's wrong." She said motioning to a nearby arm chair.
Octavia walked over to the armchair and sat down in it. "So, um… It's sort of weird but a few weeks ago I was hanging out with a friend of mine and, uh… We were talking about some stuff that I was upset about and he wrapped his arm around me and tried to help me feel better, but um… I noticed my heartbeat got faster, my body started getting warmer than usual, and I felt weirdly happy…"
Stella stared at Octavia impassively as she explained before sighing and picking up her wine glass again before taking another sip. "I see…"
"I know, it's weird… But it gets weirder… So, ever since then whenever we hang out I can't help but feel tense and nervous and I act a bit awkward. I keep looking at him too and I have no idea why… So, um… Am I sick?" Octavia inquired.
"No. You aren't sick. You're in love. Or you have a crush. Either way." Stella stated.
"What?! I… That can't be true." Octavia said, shaking her head in denial.
"It is true. Imagine yourself in this person's arms being embraced by them. Imagine the two of you kissing, getting married. Do the images that come to mind make you happy?" Stella inquired.
If Octavia was capable of blushing she would have been at that point. Fortunately she wasn't capable of any such thing. Still she felt her heart beat a bit faster and felt her body start warming up a bit. "Uh… M-maybe a little…?" She said uncertainly.
"Then you're in love. So, tell me. Who is this person you have become infatuated with?" Stella requested.
"D-Danny Phantom…" Octavia muttered in embarrassment.
Stella blinked at that and took another sip of wine. "That is the half-breed ghost that everyone has been talking about lately, correct? The one Lucifer himself is so interested in? And the Crown Prince of Purgatory, if the rumors are true. That Danny Phantom?"
"Y-yes? And the rumors are true, he really is the Crown Prince of Purgatory. He told me so himself…" Octavia responded, looking down at the ground nervously.
"Hm… Well, while I would normally disapprove of you having feelings for a Sinner, even an Overlord like the Phantom, his particular case is a bit… unique. Unlike the vast majority of sinners who don't have a drop of noble blood in them, noble blood that actually matters mind you as the pathetic 'nobles' from Earth don't count, he is in fact royalty in his own right. Albeit royalty from a realm other than Hell but royalty all the same. And he has strong political connections and thus quite a bit of influence, whether he knows it or not. So, if you wish to seek a romantic relationship with him, I am not opposed to it." Stella said in a casual tone.
"You aren't?" Octavia inquired, surprised by this. She had always thought her mother would try to force her to get into a relationship with some powerful and influential demon. Granted, Danny was quite powerful and influential in his own right but he wasn't anything like any of the assholes Octavia had been worried about.
"No, I'm not. Your father likely will be opposed to it, obviously, due to his paranoia that the boy may be after his book. However, the boy couldn't steal it even if he tried. So I see no issue with it. In fact if you like him, I would actively encourage you to pursue him, if for no other reason than the potential benefits that could come from your relationship with him. You could become the first Queen of Purgatory and be married to one of the three major kings, the most powerful and important beings in all the realms other than the Creator himself. That alone makes it more than worth it, in my opinion." Stella explained taking another sip of wine and setting the glass back down.
Octavia slumped a little at that. Her mother didn't approve of her interest in Danny because she was willing to let Octavia make her own decisions and was open to her marrying whoever she wanted. She only approved because Danny was the Crown Prince of Purgatory and was going to become one of the most powerful beings in existence eventually. Octavia should have known better but she had honestly gotten her hopes up. But regardless, she couldn't help but be at least somewhat happy. Her mother didn't disapprove of a boy that Octavia might be interested in. That was still way better than she had hoped up until this point.
"Alright… I have some stuff I need to think about… Thanks for listening, mom."
Stella nodded and raised her book again. "Alright, Octavia. Think about what I said. This is quite possibly the most promising opportunity you could possibly have."
Octavia turned and walked back to her room. Laying down on her bed she thought about Danny and if what she felt for him was really love or not. She still wasn't entirely sure if she was actually in love with Danny. She laid there, thinking about it for a while before eventually picking up her phone. She hesitated for a moment as she thought about whether she should call him or not. Eventually she took a deep breath and worked up the courage to press the 'call' button.
"Hey, Octavia. What's up?" Danny asked as soon as he picked up.
"Hey Danny, um… I have something I think I need to talk to you about… Would you mind coming to the park we hung out at the other day? We can talk there." Octavia requested.
"Sure. Same bench we sat at last time?" Danny asked.
"Yeah, that sounds okay… I'll, um… I'll see you soon." Octavia stated before hanging up. She then climbed up out of her bed and got one of her family's servants to drive her down to the park.
Climbing out of the limo, she entered the park and walked over to the bench she and Danny had spoken at the last time they were there. He was already sitting there waiting for her, as per usual with him. Seeing her walking up he smiled and waved at her. She smiled and waved back before walking over and sitting down next to him.
"Hey, Octavia. So what is it you wanted to talk about? Your parents fighting again?" Danny asked.
"No, no. Nothing like that. Not this time at least… I, uh… Danny? What do you think about me?" Octavia inquired.
"What do you mean?" Danny asked, clearly confused by the question.
"I mean… What's your honest opinion about me?" Octavia inquired.
"My opinion about you? Hm… Well, you're nicer than pretty much anyone else I know here in Hell. You have some interesting quirks, like your love of creepy taxidermy, but I guess I find that more endearing than anything. You're fun to be around. I trust you more than pretty much anyone down here in Hell, and that includes Vlad. You're really pretty. I could go on but I think you get the idea." Danny said with a smile. "Why? What's this about?"
Octavia felt her heart rate pick up as he started complimenting her. "Well… I, um… How do I say this? I… I think I like you…"
"What? Wait… Oh. Oh! You don't mean…?" Danny inquired uncertainly.
Octavia nodded. "Y-yeah. I really like you… So, um… I was wondering… Would you like to go out some time, maybe?"
Danny blushed a bit and scratched the back of his head. "Oh, wow… Uh…"
"I get it, it was stupid of me to ask. Just forget I said anything." Octavia said, standing up.
Danny grabbed her by the arm and said, "Hold on. I didn't say no. I was just… caught off guard. I honestly wasn't expecting this… To answer your question, yes. I would love to. So… Where would you like to go? The movies? A restaurant? Sorry, I've… I've honestly never been on a date before so I'm not exactly sure what we're supposed to do on one…" He released her arm.
She practically fell back into the bench next to Danny. She had come here fully expecting to be rejected. She wasn't sure how to process him actually wanting to go out with her. "Uh… Both? That… Uh… That sounds nice…" She said nervously.
"A movie then dinner. Got it… Uh, how's tomorrow evening sound? It's a Sunday, so we don't exactly have school." Danny suggested.
"Sounds great… um… I… I should head home… Thanks for talking to me, Danny…" Octavia said before standing back up and walking back to her limo.
"Y-yeah. Of course. I'll see you tomorrow, Octavia!" Danny called after her.
As soon as Octavia got back home she laid down in her bed face first and stewed in a mixture of embarrassment, shock, happiness, and nervous excitement. She was embarrassed about the entire situation, she was shocked that Danny had said yes, she was also happy because he said yes, and she was both nervous and excited for their date tomorrow.
(Danny)
As he flew back to his territory, Danny's mind was racing. He hadn't expected this in the least. He had known Octavia for a few months now, and they were great friends. But he had never thought about her in any sort of romantic capacity before. He hadn't thought about anyone that way ever since his friends and family died. It had simply never crossed his mind. Now that it had though… He wasn't exactly opposed to the idea.
He did like her a lot and she was attractive, albeit in an unconventional way considering the fact she wasn't human. They got along great. They supported each other whenever either of them needed support. And Danny was more than willing to participate in her hobbies and interests.
There was only one reason he could think of why they shouldn't be in a relationship. Heaven. He was scared that if they were anything more than just friends Heaven may target her just to hurt him. He had no idea how far the angels were willing to go in their attempts to kill him and that made him worry for anyone around him. Hell, he had been worried about Heaven targeting her just because they were friends. That being said, she was a very powerful demon in her own right and she had Stolas of the Ars Goetia there to protect her if Heaven did attack her. So it was much less of a risk for her than it would be for practically anyone else.
He sighed. He was just going to have to risk it. He wasn't going to let the threat Heaven posed to him get in the way of his personal life.
He might have asked Vlad for advice, but the older half ghost didn't exactly have the best track record in romance. So Danny sure as hell wasn't going to ask him for advice on anything even tangentially related to romance. His chances would be better if he figured it all out on his own, as far as he was concerned.
The next evening, Danny got ready and flew to Stolas' mansion where he waited outside for Octavia.
About thirty or so minutes after he arrived she walked out of the mansion. She was wearing a dress similar to the one she wore at the ball. Smiling nervously, she waved at him. "Hey, Danny…"
He smiled back at her. "Hi, Octavia… You look beautiful. So, you ready to head to the movies?"
"Yeah, let's go." She said before she started walking.
"Hold on, I have an idea. Mind if I put my arm around you?" Danny asked, walking over to her.
"Uh… No? Go ahead." She said, looking away from him. She had no idea what he might have been planning but him offering to put his arm around her sounded nice so she was willing to see where this went.
He wrapped his arm around her waist and floated up into the air. "Why walk when I can just fly the two of us there? Sorry, I'd carry you with both arms to make you more comfortable but, uh…" He held up the stump of his left arm.
Before she could respond he started flying towards the nearest movie theater. He didn't travel particularly fast, but rather took his time flying at subsonic speeds. It took about three minutes for him and Octavia to arrive and neither of them said a word the entire flight. Octavia felt her body heat up and her heart start pounding in her chest as they flew together and took in the sights of the city.
Landing in front of the theater Danny set her back on the ground. "If you wanted to fly, you could have just said so. I'm fully capable of flying on my own, you know." She informed him the moment he let her go.
"You can fly? Then why didn't you say anything?" Danny asked, genuinely surprised by this.
"Because I enjoyed it…" She muttered under her breath.
"What?" Danny asked, not having heard her.
"A-anyway, what movie do you want to go see?" She asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'm not sure. I was gonna ask you the same thing." Danny stated.
"Well there is a new horror film out that I've been wanting to see… It's not the most romantic thing ever but it should be fun, right?" Octavia suggested.
"Sure. I'm paying." Danny said.
The two of them walked up to the counter, got their tickets, and entered the movie theater. They then ordered popcorn and sodas before walking into the theater room that was showing the particular movie they were going to see.
The movie itself was actually pretty cheesy. Neither of them got particularly scared and even chuckled at a few of the scenes. Nothing particularly cliché happened like their hands touching while they reached for popcorn or anything like that. They simply had a fun time hanging out and watching a movie together.
When they walked out of the theater Danny said, "Well that was pretty fun. Now it's time for dinner right? So, you wanna fly to the restaurant together?"
"I, um… I wouldn't mind if you carried me again… You know, if you want to…" Octavia muttered.
Danny blushed slightly as he realized why she hadn't mentioned the fact she could fly earlier. "Uh… S-sure…" Danny said. Wrapping his arm around her waist again he floated up into the air and began flying in the direction of the restaurant.
The two of them landed in front of the restaurant. Entering inside they were guided to their seats. The two of them talked and enjoyed each other's company as they ate. When they were finished, Danny paid for the meal and flew Octavia back home.
"I had fun tonight." Octavia said, smiling at him.
"Me too. We should do this again sometime." Danny responded, smiling back at her.
Octavia hesitated for a second before working up the courage to wrap her arms around him and gave him a kiss on the lips. It only lasted for a moment so he barely had any time to process what had happened before she let him go. "Good night, Danny. I'll see you later." She said before running back into the mansion.
Danny stood there for a few moments dumbfounded by what had just happened. Eventually he smiled happily and flew back to his penthouse.
Is this chapter too early? If so I can delete it, rewrite it a bit, and post it again later on in the story. I don't want to ruin things by rushing it any.
Granted the two of them have known each other for at least a couple months now and considering how supportive Danny is I thought it might be okay for this chapter to happen so early. But I don't know. Let me know what you think.
And don't forget to vote on the poll if you haven't yet!
