Jack quickly dodged Kaz's incoming fist. He knew enough about them from their sparing sessions to know their fighting habits. Then, thinking quickly, he pushed them to the floor, using their momentum against them.
Kaz was quick to get up, despite their momentary shock. "You're getting good." Kaz said with a smirk.
"Dang right I am." Jack replied with a prideful and menacing grin. Then he lunged at them, but it was dodged and Jack found himself on the ground with Kaz standing on top of him before he could get up.
Kaz made sure Jack was pinned down without any lasting damage being done to his smaller body, "Although, you should've prevented me from getting back up."
Jack huffed. Kaz was heavy, even though they had honeycomb bones and flight bladders filled with light and combustible gasses.
"Yield?"
Jack tried to wiggle free, but couldn't. "Yes."
Kaz smiled then got off him. Then they helped him up.
"You lasted over an hour." Kaz remarked, "I say that's improvement."
"Still not good enough." Jack complained.
Kaz gave him a reassuring smile, "You can't be great overnight."
Jack huffed.
"Oh, that reminds me!" Kaz suddenly exclaimed, "My niece Rory, her school's science fair is this evening. Wanna come?"
Jack wasn't sure. Sure, he liked science, but from his experience, science fairs were mostly lame. Most of what was presented were lame projects that were either assigned or stuff anyone could do. Although Jack always won some sort of ribbon or prize, he always felt like the odd one out. Coming up with something scifi, while the others made something ordinary. Even the kid who made their own camera was somehow less nerdy then him.
"It'll be fun." Kaz pointed out, "She made mech suits for hamsters!"
"Hamsters?" Jack asked, confused.
"They're more cooperative than weasels."
"What about rats?"
Kaz shrugged their shoulders, "She didn't want to." Then they asked again, "So wanna come?"
It did seem interesting. Although, who wouldn't want to see hamsters control robots? Then a thought came to him. "Like, as your date?"
Kaz immediately blushed. "If you want to. I don't have a problem with that, but if you just want to go as friends, I also wouldn't mind."
Jack couldn't help but blush. He did like the idea of being Kaz's date, but he also wanted to just be their plus one. "Um, uh... I wouldn't mind being your date." Then he gave a nervous grin followed by a nervous laugh.
Kaz also smiled, the smile was less nervous than Jack's, but still nervous.
"How did you come to know about Shen Gong Wu?" Master Fung asked Eagle after the Dragon Warriors had introduced them to him and explained everything.
"I'm a Seer." Eagle explained, "I've had a few Visions of them. Also, I know other Seers who've also had Visions of Shen Gong Wu." They then smiled wickedly, and leaned in closer, "You are very lucky that they have no use for them, and that most currently have no evil intent."
The monks grew nervous at the dragon hybrid's words. They seemed to be a good ally, but, there was something... not good about it.
Steeling his resolve, Master Fung then asked, "And which Shen Gong Wu would you like?"
Eagle leaned back, and became friendlier, "There's only two I desire at the moment, however I'd like to leave room for more in the future. The Cube of Haniku and the Indigo Pyramid."
"I'm afraid the Indigo Pyramid hasn't revealed itself yet." Master Fung replied, "However, we will tell you when it does."
Eagle nodded. "Understood. What about the Cube?"
"We have it." Master Fung answered, "You may have it, as long as you promise to give it back upon request."
Eagle nodded again. "Fair enough." Then he extended his arm, "So, do we have a deal? I tell you everything I know about Kazumi, and you give me The Cube of Haniku, the Indigo Pyramid, and three other Wu?"
"As long as you agree to let us approve of the Wu you desire before you are given them," Master Fung added, "and that we reserve the right to reclaim them at any time, then yes."
Eagle nodded, then the two shook hands. As they were shaking, a red and gray light began forming inside their enclasped palms, and soon wound it's way up their arms until their eyes glowed.
Even though Jack knew Kaz's paternal half-siblings were tall, like Kaz themself, he still wasn't expecting to meet a 6' 10" cyborg.
"So, you're this Jack Kazi's been going on about." The cyborg asked. He was one of Kaz's older brothers, Ares.
"Uh, yes." Jack answered, still amazed by what he was seeing.
Ares smiled.
"If you embarrass him," Kaz warned, "or me, I'll dent your arm!"
"Sure you will." Ares teased.
Kaz raised an eyebrow, "Remember last week?"
Ares suddenly grew pale.
There was a laugh coming from Kaz's brother Hermes. He was tall and had curly blonde hair.
"Oh shut up!" Ares angrily told him.
"Or what? You'll stick me in a jar?" Hermes teased.
Ares grew angry. He was about to punch his brother before a young woman stepped between them.
"Will you two stop it!" The woman yelled, "This is no place to start a fight!"
"But Thena..." Ares tried to reason.
"No buts!" The woman scolded, "This is a very special day for your daughter. SO NO FIGHTNG!" She then turned to Hermes, "Understand?"
Hermes gulped. "Yes, my dear wonderful cousin who I would never go against!"
The woman nodded. Then she turned to chat with Ares's wife Rosa.
Jack was soon introduced to more of Kaz's siblings, most of them hybrids. They were all friendly enough, putting Jack somewhat at ease.
Soon the pair arrived at Rory's booth, and Jack was impressed. The mecha suits could easily have come from a sci-fi movie or comic, and their little fury pilots were perfectly trained.
"Pibling!" Rory excitedly cried when she saw them.
"Rory!" Kaz happily greeted back, then the two happily hugged and kissed each other.
Jack was amazed by how seeing someone lovingly greet a family member felt strange. Sure, he saw Kaz greet their other relatives, but, this was different. He knew his own aunts and uncles would never greet him the way Kaz greeted Rory. Love for love's sake, not love because it's expected. Jack felt almost jealous.
Jack watched as the pair chatted in their dragon-tongue, wishing Kaz had taught him more of it.
"Rory," Kaz said in English at last, "this is Jack."
"Hi." Jack waved at the genius girl.
Rory's eyes lit up. With pure happiness and adoration she said, "Hi! I've heard so much about you! I know you're going to help Pibling Kaz rule Remezantine, but I really want to be your apprentice!"
"Apprentice?" Jack asked in bewilderment.
"Yes!" Rory excitedly answered, "Dad wants me to wait until I'm 10 before seeking an apprenticeship, but Mom wants me to wait until I'm a teenager."
Jack was still dumbfounded, "You want to be my apprentice?"
"You made a time-machine and sentient robots." Rory replied, as if that was obviously why anyone would be dying to be his apprentice.
"Yeah, but, I can't provide the time-machine with enough power on my own, and I don't have a way to come back." Jack stated, still unsure why Rory was so excited.
"But you did it without magic." Rory stated, "I could barely do this without magic." She pointed to her science fair project, where the hamsters were having a sparing match.
"Fair point." Jack concluded. Maybe he was worth something.
